Dreamers Brush is a handmade brush font by Get Studio, designed to allow you to create stunning hand-lettering quickly and easily. The marker-like strokes are perfect for titling and food labels. Add watercolour textures to soften the look or just use black and reverse white for bold strokes. It should look great with foil stamping or embossed effects too.
Haute couture certainly cast its spell on the recent Bridal Fashion Week. Every dress that sashayed down the runway made us squeal in delight, each a testament of sartorial genius. We, in turn, make it a walk in the park for you by presenting the top three trends of Spring 2017.

green + rustic Amidst the beautiful setting of the quiet hills of Cameron Highlands, the couple were blessed with friends who made up their “ABTL Crew” to help DIY the décor for their special day. “We’re so grateful to have talented and artistic friends – everything was sourced, designed and homemade by us,” said Abby. “Everything turned out perfect and was beyond well done. There are some things that money cannot buy, and for us, it’s our beloved friends and family, as well as their efforts in making this day happen.” Keeping the décor and colour palette simple with vintage crates and earthy tones, the floral choices, with a selection of baby’s breath and deep leafy greens, perfectly complemented the theme.

CEREMONY An outdoor wedding would surely be a point of anxiety for any bride, and this was no exception. Mother Nature was kind to them – despite there being gloomy clouds, they eventually cleared away. This couple knew their friends and family had had a very big part to play in their special day, and it made it all the more wonderful to exchange their vows in such an intimate setting. It also became unexpectedly emotional for everyone! We especially love the trendy mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses in hues of greyish silver, with each bridesmaid choosing a design and cut that best fit her style.

RECEPTION Fairy lights, cool weather, the bridal couple’s lit-up initials and their lovely two-tiered cake: all of it helped to create the perfect atmosphere for the reception. Abby and Tuck Loong figured that the best thing to have on a cool night in Cameron Highlands would be a comforting meal of steamboat! Despite the unconventional choice for a wedding reception meal, it seemed to fit best, and everything came together for both the couple and their caterer. The steamboat also went really well with their theme: outdoors, cosy and intimate.

intimately chic It comes as no surprise that this couple’s wedding was a rockin’ and memorable celebration. After all, the bride, Shermaine, runs an event styling agency and knew exactly what she wanted. “I was inspired by Kate Moss’ bohemian rock & roll wedding in 2011, and I have always wanted a wedding that was simple yet chic,” she said. Shermaine’s amazing team decorated her entire wedding and created a wonderful and intimate ambiance incorporating feathers and flowers, a mix of vintage and glass vases in different shapes and sizes, with personalised place cards doubling as wedding favours. “Keep it personal! Writing little thank you notes on the back of your guests’ place cards and wedding favours go a long way.”

m boutique station 18 The younger sibling to M Boutique Ipoh, M Boutique Station 18 is a snazzier and much bigger version of the former. Inspired in part by jazz music, M Boutique Station 18 features a monotone interior with a vintage twist. Situated within the hotel is MYTH Espresso Bar, the venue for the couple’s reception. Potted plants in hanging wicker baskets, ornate chandeliers and long panelled glass windows gave the room a bright and breezy feel, while a mounted deer’s head certainly added to the extremely hip and photoworthy space.

RECEPTION Intimate wedding celebrations seem to be gaining in popularity – fewer guests mean a more personal celebration and more time for the bride and groom to spend with their guests. Having a small group of 40 guests also allowed this couple to have their celebration at a more creative and unique location like MYTH Espresso Bar. To make the venue more personalised, the couple also used other accessories such as dreamcatchers, vines draped over the chandeliers, and lots and lots of fresh lavender, which made the café smell amazing! “We loved that our celebration was so intimate and carefree; everyone felt so at ease and themselves.” WWW.THEWEDDINGNOTEBOOK.COM

simple elegance Simplicity was key for this couple’s wedding – there was nothing over the top about their nuptials. Instead, everything blended in with the venue, thanks to the couple’s artist and designer friends. Simple decorations like the small wooden chest of drawers with flowers and greens, framed wooden photographs, and their elegant photo corner with a gauzy white backdrop and baskets of favours and treats created a cosy feel to the already serene venue. “We chose pastel colours for our theme so that they could blend in with the surroundings and would be soothing to the eye,” said Jazz.

tamarind springs This intimate wedding for 50 of the couple’s friends and family was held at Mandi-Mandi, a little jungle enclave in Ampang, where its sister outlet Tamarind Springs is located. The best thing about the venue is that it makes you feel as if you are somewhere far away from the city or in the middle of a jungle, when in reality you are only a 15-minute drive from the city centre. Mandi-Mandi looks like a rustic yet welcoming village house, set amidst water features and lush, refreshing greenery. Its size also made it the perfect venue for the couple’s wedding.

CEREMONY Surrounded by nature, the couple exchanged their vows under a simple wooden arch, artfully decorated with white and light peach drapes, as their guests, seated on wooden chairs, looked on. For the bride, one of the most memorable moments during the ceremony was when the couple’s friends managed to get the groom to re-perform the couple’s engagement song, ‘Collide’ by Howie Day, in front of all the guests. “It’s moments like these that make our wedding more meaningful as it includes our friends,” she shared.

RECEPTION The menu for the reception was Malay and Thai influenced, and guests were seated at long rows of tables covered with crisp white tablecloths, napkins and dining ware. In line with the theme, the decorations were minimal, with splashes of colour from flowers in tall vases and bottles that served as table centrepieces. To make the wedding even more memorable for their guests, the couple also presented them with ‘egglings’ from Japan. “We wanted something that our friends could bring home,” said Jazz. “It will be great to see them put some care and love into growing the eggling plants via their social media updates.”

Warm, simple and intimate, we adore the café ambience and Insta-worthy décor of this wedding. This is a perfect example of how a venue can instantly create the right mood for your celebration. Siew Na: “We adopted a rustic and vintage theme as we wanted to have it simple but keep it lovely and warm. We found Café 1988 and thought it fit what we wanted, as the interior décor was simple but still had a very rustic feel. The chalkboard, wooden furniture, vintage bicycle, dried flowers and gardening details added to the entire look. It was really fun to have our ROM there, and it will be a sweet memory to last a lifetime.”

rom We’ve always believed that the exchange of vows is the most meaningful part of the entire wedding day, but too often couples rush through it because there are so many other ceremonial things to attend to. An ROM (Registration Of Marriage) celebration seems like a good way to keep the focus on just that, and that’s exactly what Siew Na and Yaw Fatt did with 30 of their closest friends and family members. Their ROM party at Café 1988 in Muar was a beautiful way of making things simple and meaningful.

P
hotos that are truly bucket list worthy – these days, when it comes to shooting bridal portraits, photographers and couples alike are stepping boldly into uncharted territory.
What made you decide to photograph in Iceland? Couple: We wanted to shoot in an exotic country that has a great icy setting and majestic winter scenery. But the main reason that we chose Iceland was the natural ice cave. How long did it take to travel to the location? Photographer: Usually, to travel from Singapore to Iceland takes around 18 hours, including transit. Then, from the airport to our first shoot location took probably another 5-6 hours. What did the preparation for this shoot involve? Photographer: Planning the route and timing the shoots were the main issues here. We shot for two days, and different locations required different timing. Were there any obstacles or difficulties, and how did you resolve it? Photographer: The temperature ranged from 0 to 17 degrees, and it was unpredictable. It got really cold and windy at times. Yes there were difficulties, especially very strong winds, so we often had to wait for the wind to die down before shooting. It also meant the veil had to be attached really tightly or it would blow away. That shimmering dress looks amazing against the stunning blue backdrop. Who is the designer of that dress? Bride: The dresses were all sourced in China but I altered them by sewing on beads or removing the sleeves, etc. I majored in apparel design, so I often alter my clothes. Do you have any tips for couples who might be interested in attempting this? Photographer: Plan your travel carefully as the distance between each location is really far. Bring plenty of thermal wear, and always check the weather before a shoot. Bring some food too, as it can be quite difficult to get food along the way.

Niseko Photography & Guiding is owned and managed by me and my partner, Darren Teasdale. Darren has been a photographer for over 10 years. His specialty is action sports photography, but he loves all aspects of photography and is an absolutely stunning photographer! He is also an incredibly friendly person, and he always makes our clients laugh. I actually came from a background in management and consulting. My passion is wedding, portraiture and product photography. I love the fact that more people are having weddings and pre-wedding celebrations in Niseko, as it allows me to further explore my creativity in this field, and I just love being involved in a couple’s special day! Darren and I live in Niseko year round, and in the winter we employ a team of talented photographers and designers, including the very clever Toshitake Suzuki from Mt Fuji, who worked with me on this particular shoot. We love how well you capture the couples, even when they are skiing! How did you develop this skill? We are also action sports photographers. Our business offers guided photography tours on the mountain, so naturally we developed an art for capturing movement. Getting photographed on the slopes in wedding outfits has become quite popular for couples who share our passion for skiing and snowboarding, and who also love

special place. I think ultimately they are the ones that have inspired us, and it has been really special to be able to capture them doing what they love with the person that they love! Is it hard to prepare for a photoshoot in such weather? During peak season and with wind chill it can get seriously cold. We spend a lot of time looking at weather before a shoot to know where the best locations will be. We take every precaution to ensure the bride and groom are kept toasty warm! We usually drive to a location and then leave them in the car while we prepare the site. I usually wear gloves when I shoot, with heat pads on the tops of my hands to ensure my fingers don’t freeze! These days, we take our aerial drone along to get photos and video from above as well, e.g. we might get the couple to walk out a heart shape in the snow. A shoot usually takes 4 hours, and we have to be super quick. But despite it being a bit chilly at times, everyone is always laughing and we always have a great time.
