Briberra
by Sarid Ezra
Briberra is a hand-lettering script font that contains stylistic alternates and swashes. It’s awesome when used in titles, with a marker pen look and feel. When set to transparent, it might even create a watercolour effect. Perfect for garden or floral themed, small scale weddings, Briberra is sure to lift the mood of your stationery. Try it in gold or silver stamping for an elegant touch. 4

Juliana took the opportunity of her bridal shower to rally 20 of her closest friends and loved ones, celebrating with a Palm Springs theme! The colours and tone were perfect, making for a fun and laidback afternoon that left this bride-to-be immensely happy. Featuring pastel shades and colourful arrangements that lifted everyone’s spirits, the party was made complete with the calligraphed names of each of her guests.

b r i g h t +r u st i c Paying homage to Wes Anderson’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ and ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, the newlyweds incorporated decorative details that made gorgeous use of their venue, the Tipi Tent at Night Safari. They also involved their bridal party in the fun, getting them to dress up in bright colours that matched their face masks. The bold shades definitely popped against the rustic finish and forest vibes, not to mention the groom’s dapper blue suit. What a gorgeous colour palette!

ce r e mo n y Allowing these adorable dogs to be part of their ceremony was one of the best decisions the couple made! It helped to calm their nerves too, as Paige remembers fondly how nervous her husband-to-be was. “When Wilson said his vows, I’d never seen him so anxious and so emotional in all the years that we’ve known each other,” she said. “His hands were trembling and I was so afraid that he was going to have a panic attack. I kept rubbing his hands to calm him down.”

Tipi Te nt a t N i ght S a f a r i , Sin gapo re Imagine exchanging your vows amid the lush surrounds of the Night Safari, and celebrating your union in a big tent lit by warm, twinkling lights. We love how the bride and groom added cheerful pops of colour with vibrant ribbons and other décor touches. In Singapore’s first Tipi Tent at Night Safari, guests can enjoy an Evening in the Wild, complete with a four-course gourmet dinner that includes dessert and free-flow wine. You could even make things a little more exciting by having close-up encounters with some exotic animals.

r e ce p t i o n Accompanied by just 34 of their closest friends and family, the bride and groom celebrated their wedding day with much love, laughter and delicious food and wine. The party included speeches from their maid of honour and best man, which were surprisingly touching. Paige shared: “We never knew that they could be so sweet, and truly felt their sincere well-wishes for us.” Cosy and rustic, the reception was the perfect finish to what had been an exciting day. But that wasn’t all. When you have a wedding at the Night Safari, you also get to present your guests with cute animal plushies from the Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) as wedding favours!

f lorals+d us ty p i nk When a wedding florist gets married, you can bet that her nuptials will feature an abundance of blooms, leaves, ferns, and other greenery. Beyond the colours, there was also a variety of textures. That being said, she’s still the bride so she obviously didn’t get to work on her wedding day. Check out her elegant dress with that glamorous thigh-high split! Linnette: “One thing that was clear from the start was that we wanted to have lots of flowers. We had a very vague moodboard for the flowers, and I had no idea what the flowers were going to be like. My sister Jo and mother Lucy conceptualised everything in secret, and executed the vision in the wee hours of the night.” 3 4

ce r e m o ny The flowers didn’t take centrestage; instead, they played a supporting role, adding glamorous and reverent touches to the occasion. For instance, there were the lilies that flanked the couple at the altar and the delicate stalks that decorated the wedding pews. The church was already beautiful on its own, what with its high ceilings and stained-glass windows, and the couple did the right thing by keeping the décor minimal. All they needed to do was exchange their vows and seal it with a kiss!

Ra f f l e s H o t e l , S i n g a p o r e Raffles Hotel is synonymous with Singapore and a landmark unto itself, thanks to its colonial style building featuring high ceilings and ornate finishing. For this wedding, however, the ballroom was completely transformed, with tall stalks flanking the entrance and beautifully positioned all around the space. The stunning chandeliers complemented the floral elements, and everything came together perfectly. “Raffles Hotel was the first wedding venue we got in touch with, and as they say, the rest is history,” said Linnette.

r e ce p t i o n For the reception, this trendy bride changed into a coral suit to celebrate, and that’s when the festivities began! The merrymaking and speeches shared among family members and friends brought out everyone’s fun side. There were spontaneous performances from the niece of the bride, temporary tattoos that were also the wedding favours, and of course, lots of drinking to toast the newlyweds!

moody+modern The bridal bouquet was an arrangement of dried florals in deep, moody hues of pink and red, which looked beautiful against the bride’s gorgeous lace gown and elegant look. g a t e cr a sh i n g +t e a ce r e mo n y There’s something so lighthearted yet loving about the traditional Chinese custom of “gatecrashing” – where the groom and his groomsmen (“heng dais”) perform tasks given to them by the bridesmaids (“ji muis”) in order for the groom to access his bride. Having the groom jump through hoops to get to the bride is a sweet and fun way to bring the bridal party on both sides together, and allows the families to also celebrate the momentous occasion. The gatecrashing ends with the traditional tea ceremony, which is when the bridal couple serves tea to elder members of their families. What once was a customary way to introduce your new spouse to your family has now become a joyful part of many Chinese weddings today. 5 2

CHLOE + ALVIN
Not only has the pandemic affected wedding celebrations and receptions, but couples also found themselves limited to local spots when it came to shooting bridal portraits. It didn’t help that Singapore is a rather small country, but fortunately, it has a vibrant artistic community and photographers like Pixioo Photography who found ways to make photoshoots interesting. Often, it meant trying new things and going outside of their comfort zone, but we absolutely adore how dreamy these photos turned out. Whose idea was it to add the coloured LED lights? As we’ve been unable to go overseas, we were wracking our brains to try and make bridal portraits more creative and different. We were intrigued by the idea after seeing some photographers online explore the use of coloured LED lights. This was our first time doing this, and of course, there is always room for improvement. We will continue to experiment with lights and try different themes for future photoshoots.

If a princess ballgown is something you’ve always wanted, these latest collections are just the thing for you. We love these simpler princess ballgowns that are perfect for smaller weddings. The team from Munkeat Studio inspires me to be better because we are always striving to improve. When it comes to cinematography styles, I like Korean dramas/movies.

The first country I would love to go back to when the borders reopen is South Korea. I miss their food!

What’s one of your favourite photos and why? This was taken while the couple were getting ready. Normally this is when stress kicks in and couples are wondering whether everything will go as planned. Instead, this couple were seated away from everything and just gazing into each other’s eyes. This photo encapsulates what I feel weddings should be about – just the two of them, cherishing every second of the day from beginning to end, and recognising that they will never get this day again.
