Sean Warren turned 22 on October 3rd. Those who knew Sean knew him as an impulsive “kid” who lived life for the moment and who was not quick to recognize any harm he might be imposing upon himself. He died the day after Christmas, December 26, 2011, after allegedly using heroin with some friends. The manner of Sean’s death might make it seem that he was just another addict who did not know when to stop. That was not Sean Warren. Sean Warren did not deserve to die. Sean Warren Sean’s obituary and 47 photos of him can be viewed at http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignitymemorial/obituary.aspx?n=SeanWarren&lc=7156&pid=155255302&mid=49365

34&locale=en-US. Sean was easily influenced by acquaintances and sadly, it was, according to his Mother Maureen (Dave) Grant, that same frailty that robbed him of his life. Some years back, in a conversation concerning Sean’s future, after this reporter ran an article concerning a severe beating he suffered while in police custody, Sean Warren by, according to Sean, a Romeoville police officer Sean expressed what seemed to be a sincere desire to get a job and to break-a-way from his associates . That time, Sean was taken into custody after he entered a Jewel Food Store in Romeoville, dropped a bottle of liquor on the floor, and then ran from the store out of fear when he severely cut himself on the broken glass. While he was inside an ambulance to have a cut treated he said the Romeoville police officer who arrested him repeatedly beat him.

Later, at the hospital, Sean alleged the officer tried to render him unconscious by applying pressure behind his ears. It did not work but photos show the bruises he said were the result of that attempt. Other photos showed his beaten face and knuckle imprints on his chest. Sean was with friends who urged him to purchase liquor for him and them at that store. Knowing Sean, he would not have said no even if he did not wish to do it. He viewed himself as a “team player” always loyal to his friends. However honorable that might sound it was very likely that same loyalty that brought about his death. It is likely Sean would have eventually left the fast lane to settle down as most people do once they have sown their wild oats. If he Sean’s face after alleged police beating was going to do it he would first have to turn his back on his friends and that was surely difficult for Sean to do. Sean often talked of getting a job and beginning to build a future and he would likely have done that based on a statement he once made, “I’m gonna find a nice girl an settle down; you know, someone really nice.” Unfortunately, drinking and smoking pot would keep Sean from finding that “nice girl”. The nice girls were not a part of the drug culture. Sean Warren found himself in the Romeoville “No Break Book” as the officers tagged it. According to a former Romeoville officer, the profiles of people the department was targeting were in that book and some were read aloud at the start of each shift. Officers were expected to focus on those people and should they see them, stop any vehicle in which they were riding, shake it down along with anyone in the vehicle, and hunt for contraband. Such conduct is of course illegal on the part of police but theoretically the department expected to either send the targets to jail or to, perhaps, encourage them to leave the village. Americans are being duped BIGTIME! We are pouring fortunes into our educational system but we must rely on foreign nations to provide us with technologically astute graduates. What a tragedy! We won World War II because our engineers were able to imagine and to design the tools of war that were needed to defeat well-equipped, well trained enemies who were determined to exterminate the American people. Those engineers were not equipped with computers or digital science; they used raw brainpower, imagination, their educations, and slide rules to produce whatever Uncle Sam and the troops demanded. Listen carefully to what Professor Michio Kaku is saying then ask yourself where all the dollars are being spent that we are pouring into an educational system that is incapable of producing the engineers and scientists our nation needs to be a world leader. We have failed. Why then are college graduates leaving school owing in excess of $25,000 for their educations? See http://www.credit.com/blog/2011/11/college-grads-facerecord-debt/ What have they gotten for their efforts and huge debt?

Television is flooded with ads for private educational companies who urge would-be students to study to be medical assistants, medical billing clerk, dental assistants, auto mechanics, or security officers. Rest assured their number one goal is to make a profit, teaching is simply a tool to make it. Why are these companies so successful? The answer lies in what they use to appeal to potential customers: quick degrees, courses that assure customers “If I can do it anyone can do it.” They do not sell challenges they peddle quick degrees that can be shown to potential employers for often mediocre jobs. Is a degree really necessary to become a billing clerk? We have discarded an educational system that was once capable of turning out skilled engineers, designers and craftsmen and have replaced it with schools that teach students how to use computers – use them – to take the place of genuine brainpower. America has become a nation where everyone seems to want big dollars for doing little with little intelligence (we recently reported that I.Qs have fallen from 91+ to 84+). returning to their countries. What will become of the United States if it continues to produced students whose I.Qs are far below the levels of those in 1950?

home study space for your student (ARA) - Back to school means back to homework for most kids. For many parents it also means asking, pleading, nagging and demanding that their kids get to it. But getting your kids to hit the books when they get home could be as easy as reorganizing their study space, or providing a special spot for studying in the first place. Does your child have a "Talk to your comfortable place to study? The key is giving them a choice, says Jackie Barry, Interior Design program coordinator at The Art Institute of Houston-North, a branch of The Art Institute of Houston. "Talk to your children about how they like to study and what motivates them," she says, adding that when the kids are comfortable, they'll be more productive. If your child prefers a traditional study space, but your budget is tight, a new desk does not have to break your piggy bank. "You can create a desk with two construction horses and a board," says Seyavash Zohoori, academic director for Interior Design at The Art Institute of Salt Lake City. The best part is that this desk is mobile, so if your child wants a change of scenery, moving the study space is a snap. But do invest in a chair with good lumbar support. Once you settle on a comfortable spot, remove the distractions, like the TV. Also, get rid of one of the biggest distractions of all - clutter. can find an organizer for just about any item you have in your study space," she says. "The more organized the space, the more you want to be in it." Know what to keep and what to throw out, adds Barry. If you bring something new into the study space, perhaps it's time to get rid of something old. Barry also suggests keeping a clock and a calendar in the room to reinforce organization and time management. "Make sure it's an analog clock," adds Dubyak. That way your kids can start to gauge how time passes and really see what 15 minutes or an hour means. And make sure you have enough and the right kind of light to get work done. If your kids study when they get home from school in the afternoon, natural light may be best, says Zohoori. What if the kids study when the sun goes down? "Invest in an LED or even OLED light," he suggests. "They are eco-friendly and can significantly cut down on the eye strain you'll get with fluorescents." On June 26, 2009 this reporter was asked by Will County Illinois Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots to take photos of her father Mayor of Joliet, IL Art Schultz and their family during the Taste of Joliet festival. As the day turned into night a glowing orange object appeared in the northwestern sky

UFO PHOTOGRAPHED OVER TASTE OF JOLIET IN ILLINOIS The date July 3, 1947 is a date many Americans recall clearly, but while the incident lasted only for about 3 days from start to finish, the cover-up by the government and the military continues to this day. While the government was secretly taking UFOs very seriously it was simultaneously ridiculing anyone who publicly announced seeing any such craft. The ridicule was surely intended to prevent the public from taking the UFO matters seriously. It is difficult to imagine why. Surely, after the many thousands of reports many from people in important positions one might expect some more rational response from the government than to simply pretend that millions of Americans were having hallucinations. The memory of that day, July 3, 1947 and the story in the evening Chicago Daily News remain fresh in this reporters memory. The military cover-up the following day was swift and equally ludicrous but it was foisted upon a public without recourse to dispute the disinformation. Some speculate that the wreckage from the Roswell site was reverse engineered and resulted in the development of first the transistor (allegedly another cover-up that falsely attributed the discovery to Bell Labs), then integrated circuits, and then printed circuit boards that made today’s digital marvels possible. Around the world nations have begun to release visual and written reports of UFO sightings. Those governments now believe the time has come to level with the public yet the United States It approached steadily, faster than a commercial aircraft but at a rate of speed that permitted the eye to track it easily. It seemed to slow nearly to a halt then turned and travelled off to the due west. Photos were taken as the object grew smaller and smaller climbing higher as it traveled farther away. (ARA) - Even if you're expecting a refund, tax time can be stressful. Gathering all the necessary income and financial information, making sure forms are completed and filed on time, and waiting to see if you'll owe or get money back can weigh heavily on your mind well before April 15. Do you really need one more thing to worry about? Unfortunately, you also need to think about security and identity theft at tax time. Whether you file online or by mailing paper forms, your tax return contains a staggering amount of information about you. You need to protect that information at every step of the preparation and filing process. Fortunately, the steps you take to stop identity theft throughout the year - such as subscribing to an identity theft detection, protection and resolution product like ProtectMyID - are still effective at tax time. You just need to add some extra precautions to your regular habits. First, arm yourself with information about what the IRS is doing to combat identity theft. The Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC), a nonprofit organization that aims to educate consumers about identity theft prevention, reports that the IRS has implemented several measures, including:

* Development and implementation of standardized processes for tracking and handling identity theft reports. * Creating procedures to identify and resolve identity theft cases related to taxes. * Tracking identity theft incidents reported by taxpayers. * Tracking identity theft cases discovered by the IRS. Next, know the signs of taxrelated identity theft. If you receive a written notice from the IRS (they don't contact taxpayers via email) that they received more than one tax return for you in the same year, or IRS records indicate you received income from an employer you don't know, you may be a victim of identity theft. Keep in mind that as tax time approaches every year, criminals impersonate the IRS by email, phone, websites and even tweets - all in an effort to scam your information. Be

suspicious of any email or phone contact you receive, and if you suspect it's a scam, go to www.irs.gov/contact/index to determine if the contact is legitimate. Forward suspect emails to the IRS investigative team at phishing@irs.gov. Finally, ProtectMyID recommends these additional steps to guard against identity theft while filing taxes: When preparing your return: * Never leave your tax prep documents, such as pay stubs, W-2s and financial statements in an unsecure spot, like your car. When transporting tax documents, keep them hidden from view at all times. * Be careful when choosing a tax preparer. Do your homework on the preparer's credentials, reputation and security measures before hiring someone. Ask how your information will be protected while in the method Continued on 14

When hearing aids aren't enough, cochlear implants can help By age 65, one out of three people will have a hearing loss, according to the Hearing Loss Association of America.

(ARA) - Straining to hear each day, even when using powerful advanced hearing aids? Feeling frustrated and sometimes even exhausted from listening? Whether it happens suddenly or gradually over time, hearing loss can affect physical and emotional health. Being unable to hear impacts one's ability to socialize with friends, communicate with co-workers, and can force people to become more reliant on family members to constantly interpret for them. By age 65, one out of three people will have a hearing loss, according to the Hearing Loss Association of America. Signs of hearing loss include: * Difficulty understanding speech on the telephone * Trouble following a conversation with two or more people talking at the same time * Difficulty hearing in a noisy background * Having to strain to understand conversation * The need to ask people to repeat themselves * Misunderstanding others and responding inappropriately If you or someone you know is experiencing more than two of these signs, it could be beneficial to schedule an evaluation with a certified audiologist to learn if you/your loved one has a hearing loss. For people diagnosed with severe to profound hearing loss, who no longer benefit from hearing aids, there may be a solution. Unlike a hearing aid that amplifies sound, a cochlear implant is an implantable solution designed to mimic natural hearing using sophisticated software and state-of-the art electronic components. Ann Dexheimer, a former certified American Sign Language interpreter and teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program in Sonoma County, was diagnosed with hearing loss as a child. Starting at age 12, her progressive loss started to worsen.

Throughout her career, Dexheimer had taken professional courses and learned about cochlear implants, a technology that is often covered by many private health insurance plans and Medicare, and may be covered by Medicaid. Because her own hearing had worsened, it dawned on her in a class one day that she should consider getting a cochlear implant herself. "For me it was a nobrainer. I'd seen the remarkable success of children with cochlear implants."

Having a cochlear implant has become more than a device to assist her in hearing. "It becomes who you are," Dexheimer says. "Some days you don't even realize or notice that you're hearing everything. Then all of sudden you'll have a CI (cochlear implant) moment. You'll hear a leaf hitting the ground and go, 'Wow I heard that!' It's amazing. I'm so fortunate." To learn more about cochlear implants and to meet individuals like Dexheimer who use the technology, consider attending a free educational Hearing Health Seminar near you. WHY MIGHT THE U.S. COVER-UP VISITORS FROM BEYOND THE EARTH? The United States continues to deny it has any interest in UFOs even as other nations are asking that it come clean and admit the truth associated with the subject. In a video on page 5 you saw the former Canadian Minister of Defense Paul T. Hellyer forcefully call upon the U.S. to release its information and to admit to the public that the UFOs exist. He even suggests we have a hostile relationship with some alien entities. That raises some serious questions as to why the United States would wish to deny that aliens from somewhere other than earth have visited this planet. Does the government truly believe the American people are too juvenile to handle such an admission? Could it perhaps involve security? Not likely for evidence leads us to believe we have been visited for thousands of years without a threat to human life. The truth is probably that it represents a serious threat to very wealthy corporations that might suffer failures should an advanced civilization provide us with superior technology in the energy and healthcare fields. The answers to some centuries-old mysteries could put make many businesses unnecessary. What, for example is the secret behind how ancients were able to move huge stones such as The Sarsen Stones that came from the Marlborough Downs, twenty miles North of Stonehenge. Some of the bigger ones are 8ft wide by 5ft thick and 25ft long, and the weight varies from 20 to 30 Tons and even more depending on the size. Did they have superior guidance that enabled them to move those huge rocks? They did not possess such ability on their own. If earth has been visited by beings from elsewhere for thousands of years it is logical that those beings are vastly superior in knowledge to mankind. There is evidence that successful brain surgeries were conducted centuries ago. How is that possible without x-rays, or knowledge of the brain itself? Some of the surgery was done in areas of the brain that are extremely difficult for modern surgeons to perform successfully.

THERE IS A VIDEO IN THIS SPACE IN THE ONLINE VERSION. http://www.youtube.com/embed/ck5 4u5ZH6x0

If such beings exist they may have conquered most if not all of the diseases and ailments that mankind now endures. That is a serious threat to the pharmaceutical firms and medical supply companies that would find themselves out without a market for their products. Doctors and hospitals that specialize in cancer treatment would be forced to close their doors. The National Institutes of Health estimated that the 2010 overall annual cost of cancer was $263.8 billion dollars! A cure could cripple the U.S. economy. The reports concerning UFOs puts them at incredibly fast speeds without telltale sounds! Whatever energy source they are using is certainly far advanced to anything we know on earth. The craft are said to not only travel faster than anything on earth but are able to make abrupt turns and maneuvers at those high speeds. Such an energy source would likely eliminate a need for oil or related petroleum products! The oil companies who are individually realizing at least $120 billion dollars in profits annually are not likely to be pleased with that. What of other industries? What of agricultura? All these industries might be endangered by the knowledge to be reaped from outside sourses who might be thousands of years ahead of us not only in technology but in medicine and agriculture too. We are a dollar driven society. Any technological superiority another society posseses is a threat to the American economy. It is more profitable for companies to maintin the status quo; they might face extinction by the science available an advanced society. The wealthy might fight to preserve ignorance and their bankrolls.

Tips to prevent the spread of cold and flu germs (ARA) - Each year, millions of people suffer from a cold or flu and this year is likely to be no different. Between 15 and 61 million people in the United States will get the flu this year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Temperature taking is a key indicator of flu patterns and should be taken seriously, says Mary Pappas, the New York area school nurse credited with first alerting officials about the H1N1 outbreak in 2009. "The flu usually comes with a fever while the common cold does not, so taking your temperature is the easiest way to tell the difference," she says. A high or prolonged fever can be an indicator of when to seek medical attention, so it's important to monitor your temperature on an ongoing basis when you are sick. Pappas has been taking temperatures for nearly 30 years and, as a school nurse, takes as many as 50 per day. But whether it's one temperature or 100, she maintains that the most important consideration is that it be accurate. While there are many types of thermometers available, Pappas favors the Exergen TemporalScanner because of its proven

accuracy and ease-of-use; all it requires is a simple swipe across the forehead. "Whether it's a student at my school or a parent at home, I know taking a temperature can be a challenge, especially with young children who may be uncomfortable and fussy," says Pappas. "What I love about the TemporalScanner is that it's not invasive like an ear, rectal or oral thermometer. No matter what a student comes to see me for, I'm able to get an accurate reading. It's so easy to use that you can take someone's temperature even when they are sleeping and not disturb them." To help you prepare and cope throughout the cold and flu season, Pappas recommends the following school nurseapproved tips: 1. Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water to help prevent the spread of germs, or use hand sanitizer. Many public buildings provide hand sanitizer, so when you see it, use it. 2. Avoid sharing drinks or food with others unless you want to share their germs. 3. Frequently clean commonly touched areas like doorknobs and light switches. 4. Always cover your mouth with your elbow or sleeve when you cough or sneeze. 5. Throw away tissues immediately after use. 6. If you have a fever, monitor your temperature regularly and check with your doctor about taking a fever reducer and an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen. 7. Get plenty of rest and stay hydrated. 8. Use a humidifier to add moisture to the air and help drain congestion. 9. Stay home from work or school if you are sick to avoid spreading germs and make sure your fever is gone for at least 24 hours before you return. 10. Consider speaking with your doctor about getting a flu shot. They are conveniently available in many physicians' offices, pharmacies and public health centers. Remember that while a cold is rarely serious, the flu can lead to additional complications, particularly in young children and the elderly. The Weekly Reporter NEW SPEED LIMIT FOR COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLES STARTS JANUARY 3 Provided by the Illinois State Police

Springfield, Illinois – In July 2011, Governor Pat Quinn signed into law Public Act 97-0202, which amended the Illinois Vehicle Code’s Speed Restrictions. The new law will take effect on January 3, 2012, and increases the speed limit for Second Division Vehicles traveling on four lane highways, where the speed limit is 65 miles per hour. The legislation removes the split speed limit provision for second division vehicles with gross weights of 8,001 pounds (or more) operated on a four-lane highway, outside the counties of Cook, Du Page, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will. The previous law restricted Second Division

NEW SEAT BELT LAW STARTS JANUARY 1 Springfield, IL – On January 1, 2012, the Illinois State Police will begin enforcing a new seat belt law that requires all passengers of a motor vehicle to be properly restrained when the vehicle is operated on a street or highway. The previous legislation only required the front seat driver, passenger, and passengers under the age of 19 to wear a seat belt. The new legislation requires ALL vehicle occupants to be properly restrained. “Although there are many factors that contribute to the reduction of traffic crash fatalities, it is no coincidence that seat belt compliance in Illinois has increased as the number of fatalities has decreased,” said Illinois State Police Division of Operations Colonel Mark Piccoli. “One of the simplest ways to reduce your chances of being seriously injured or killed in a car crash is to wear your seat belt, and that now includes every driver and passenger.” The Illinois State Police recognizes that seat belts and child safety seats, along with safety education programs and initiatives, have saved countless lives and contributed to the reduction of traffic crash fatalities in Illinois. According to preliminary data (as of December 26, 2011) Illinois has experienced 895 traffic crash fatalities -- 26 fewer fatalities than the same period in 2010. The motoring public is encouraged to buckle-up every trip, every time, and ensure all children eight years of age and younger are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat.

New signs posting the new speed limits throughout the state will be coordinated by the Illinois Department of Transportation, around snow and ice removal operations. The removal of the signs is scheduled to begin in January. The Illinois State Police urge motorists to use caution while driving during inclement weather conditions and to pay close attention to the posted speed limits. The posted speed limits are the maximum allowed by law, and speed should be decreased during inclement weather or hazardous driving conditions.

(ARA) - As the weather outside gets frightful, now is a good time to make sure your vehicle's tires are prepared for snow, ice and freezing temperatures. Sixtythree percent of Americans are concerned about skidding and icy roadways as the thermometer's mercury drops, according to a recent survey commissioned by Hankook Tire America Corp. To ensure safety and peace of mind as you venture out on a snowy day, here are some tire tips to consider: * Buy your loved one a set of winter tires: The Hankook Tire Winter Gauge Index revealed that 84 percent of Americans would not mind receiving tires as a gift and 35 percent would actually love it. In these tough economic times a brand new car may not be in your budget; however a set of tires can be a more affordable way to upgrade your current car and keep your loved ones safe on the road. * Plan accordingly when putting winter tires on: Winter tires, such as the Winter i*cept evo are optimized specifically for icy and snowy conditions, providing enhanced traction to prevent skidding. Put snow tires on your car one to two weeks before the first anticipated snowstorm of the season. Also check your tire tread before the first storm. Worn tread is the No. 1 cause of skidding. If the tread is low, consider replacing your tires with a winter tire.

* Check your tire pressure: Every 10 degree drop in air temperature can actually cause a vehicle's tires to drop up to 2 pounds per square inch (psi) in tire pressure. Improper tire pressure can result in increased tread wear and lowered performance, factors that are highly detrimental to one's safety in undesirable weather conditions.

* Have a kit handy: Because winter weather is unpredictable, it's important to be prepared. Always keep in your car a winter driving kit consisting of a spare tire, ice scraper, snow shovel and brush, booster cables, a flash light and a blanket. * Check your tire carrying capacity and speed rating: Never overload your vehicle. Check the tire load carrying capacity indicated on the tire or owner's manual for the maximum recommended load. Also, when replacing tires, the speed rating of the replacement tires must be equal to or greater than that of the tire being replaced to maintain the speed capability.

It is vitally important to take appropriate steps to ensure your vehicle is properly prepared as we head into the coming months that bring snow and blustery conditions. Make it part of your routine to check tire pressure and tread wear, and keep yourself educated on ways to protect yourself, your friends, and your family.
