Each section is alphabetized by program name and is meant to be a quick reference for fee-based camps as well as basic services included in MAC memberships. MAC Athletics is excited to showcase its many programs and passionate instructors for members this summer. The club is committed to creating a safe and fun environment for children, and there is no other place where members can find such a variety of both athletic and non-athletic camps for the entire season. Whether members are looking for competitive or recreational sports, offsite adventures, technology and arts offerings, programs designed for younger kids — or a combination of all these things — MAC ensures children have a fun and engaging time. Summer camps at MAC demonstrate great examples of partnership and collaboration within the club.
• Check In/Out will be in the Ballroom on the first floor of the Main Clubhouse instead of the parking garage.
• Complimentary lunch is provided to any member or guest registered for a morning camp (9-11 a.m.). Lunch is served in the Ballroom. Please see next page for details.
• Juniors who arrive after 9 a.m. must be escorted to their camp location by a parent or guardian after properly checking into camp in the Ballroom.
Camps fall into three schedule blocks: morning, 9-11 a.m.; midday, 11:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m.; and afternoon, 2-4 p.m. Those attending multiple camps are welcome to stay with staff from 11 to 11:45 a.m. for lunch and 1:45 to 2 p.m. in the check-in/out area; supervision is provided to ensure they get to their next session on time. Each day, campers are dropped off and picked up from the ballroom located on the first floor of the clubhouse. They need to check in upon arrival and must be checked out by a parent/caregiver at the camp desk located in the ballroom. Check-in for full-day Outdoor camps is in the Turnaround, at the club’s Main Entrance. Please note that Outdoor camp start times are actually departure times, meaning attendees should plan to arrive early, and end times indicate when they’ll return to the club. Due to traffic, this can be later than listed.
Expect check-in/out areas to be busy. The club strives to make this process as smooth and efficient as possible and recommends arriving at 8:30 a.m. each morning when check-in opens, particularly at the beginning of each week. Juniors who arrive after 9 a.m. must be escorted to their camp location by a parent or guardian.
Registration for members opens on Thursday, March 13, for all camps:
Camp Weeks 1-3 (6/16-7/3): Registration Opens 11 a.m.
Camp Weeks 4-7 (7/7-8/1): Registration Opens 11:30 a.m.
Camp Weeks 8-10 (8/4-22): Registration Opens Noon
Each member of a family must be registered separately.
Guest registration opens on March 20.
Members may register online at themac.com, by phone at 503-517-7575, or in person at the At Your Service desk.
Please indicate at the time of registration if a member has any special needs or requirements.
For questions regarding a specific camp, contact the staff person listed under each program in this guide.
MAC AGREEMENT RELEASE & WAIVER OF LIABILITY FORM
MAC classes and camps require that the MAC Agreement Release & Waiver of Liability form be completed by parents/guardians to give permission to treat children in the event of a medical emergency. At the time of registration, members are required to consent to the agreement. Members are encouraged to periodically review their children’s profiles and update contact information. To update a child’s profile, log in as them on the website and click “My Profile” from any screen.
All attendees receive a colored bracelet at check-in that indicates which camp(s) they are enrolled in for the day. Children ages 6 and younger receive an orange bracelet to indicate to all MAC staff that they may not roam the club on their own. Questions? Call 503-517-2356 to reach the summer camp check-in desk.
Members may sign up guests for summer camps. To register a guest, members should reserve two spots under the same name. Guests must remain with their member for the duration of the camp. Members are billed for their guests’ reservations. Guest registration opens at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20. Current MAC members may enroll their nonmember children and grandchildren in camps and classes during the summer for a 25% upcharge fee. Guests using the member garage need to take a parking pass from the security station and can have it validated by staff at the 4th Floor Entrance or Main Entrance.
Members are waitlisted for a class that has reached maximum enrollment. Waitlisted members receive enrollment priority based on the order in which they waitlisted for the class. Members are notified via email if a spot has opened, and they now are enrolled. Updates to registration status also may be viewed online at themac.com.
Unless otherwise stated for a specific program, general policy regarding camp withdrawal is as follows:
• Withdrawals made by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30: No charge
• Withdrawals made on Thursday, May 1: 100% of fee charged
• All withdrawal requests subject to a penalty fee must be submitted in writing. The date used for the purpose of assessing the amount of fee charged is the date the club receives written notification.
Confirmed reservations made on or after May 1 are firm, and any cancellations will be assessed 100% of the camp fee.
Courses that do not meet the minimum threshold of participants by approximately seven days before the first class are cancelled without charge. Registered attendees are notified via email if the course is cancelled.
In an effort to eliminate confusion for members about the availability of club services and facilities when severe weather is forecasted, the general manager determines club hours and service based on availability of staff and severity of conditions as reported by the National Weather Service. Club closure, delayed opening, or opening with limited services is announced to members at least four hours in advance, and by 9 p.m. for the following day. Weather alerts are posted on themac.com homepage and at all entrances as soon as they are announced.
When Portland Public Schools announces closure, early dismissal, or delayed opening due to weather, MAC Child Care, Playschool, and youth classes are canceled or delayed. Coaches determine if specific sport team practices are canceled and use TeamSnap or Team Unify to notify the teams directly.
All junior members, nonmembers, and guests participating in camps are expected to follow club etiquette. Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior while participating in club activities. To view the full agreement, which includes expectations and behavior management techniques that are employed by MAC staff, visit themac.com/group/pages/event-and-classes-policies.
Complimentary camp lunch is available for all attendees of an AM (9-11 a.m.) camp. Supervised lunch is offered daily from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Campers are welcome to bring their own lunch if they do not want complimentary lunch from the club.
