Thomas Maes Thomas Maes (1983) – BELGIUM Painter, Sculptor, Designer, Art Curator He has had 30 Solo and group exhibitions at Gallery’s and Top Art-fairs Worldwide. His works are drawing the attention of international collectors; his Sculpture designs and paintings are published in the fine art book Contemporary Masters, contemporary Sculptors and art magazines. The artist is influenced by a number of fields, including design, technology, science, architecture, and archaeology, as well as art history. With such innovation evident in his work, The visionary Artist Maes is destined to take the art world by storm. Thomas Maes' works exhibit a rare virtuosity which is instantly striking. An expert colorist, the artist's paintings evoke the abstract canvases of Joan Miró as well as turn of the century Symbolism and even Surrealism. His images are an amalgamation of the natural world with an architectural bent, in which geometric structures connect with amorphous forms. His arrangements are controlled, yet the elements float with a joyous and invigorating freedom. His painstaking technique of preparing his design for weeks and even months before he places oil on canvas is evident in his superb compositions. Maes' oeuvre is wonderfully reminiscent of many movements in the visual arts, while resonating with musical harmony. Born in Belgium, Maes draws his inspiration from his current home in Crete. His works are drawing the attention of international collectors, and his designs have appeared in a book on modern sculpture and are to feature in three more forthcoming books. The artist is influenced by a number of fields, including design, technology, science, architecture, and archaeology, as well as art history. His work has been shown in top art fairs and galleries as well as auctions.

Paintings-Sculptures-Design In my paintings i reflect and analyze different subjects on science, society, philosophy... And bring than in new world of color and order. A world with a deep background of symbolic secrets. A new designed parallel universe and reflection of ourselves. A world of unlimited opportunity! Always deeping myself in scientific subjects is a passion for me. Physics, engineering, psychology, astronomy... Working out new ideas and solutions. Bringing this subject on a canvas or in a sculpture. I spent a lot of time in research and making design drawings for my paintings. Of every painting or sculpture always has been made first a design drawing. And a lot of pre research on the subject. Some of my paintings can take months, before i even touch the canvas or medium for sculpture. As most important to have all elements in a perfect harmony for the approaching subject. Experimenting on many different materials and new technologies is important to bring out the most correct resold. This is why i have build out my atelier to 5 different, design, painting, sculpture, electronics and mechanics and even a small lab. So i invite my viewers to enter a world of unending inspiration and opportunity. Welcome and enjoy! Thomas Maes

Copyright Thomas Maes, A New World, Oil on Canvas, 40 x 50 cm, (left), Civilization, Oil on Canvas, 85 x 73 cm (right) One of this year’s highlights in the Modern and Contemporary Art section include artworks by Thomas Maes, the premiere of unique oil paintings, sculptures and design objects, inviting the sophisticated art lovers to discuss about it. Thomas Maes, born 1983 in Belgium, shows an extraordinary collection of paintings with ordinary objects in an unusual context. They attract the viewer's attraction by giving new meanings to familiar things. The use of ordinary objects in unfamiliar spaces is joined to his desire to create poetic imagery as well as his consciousness to think about the Universe. Thomas Maes described the process of painting as the art of putting colors side by side in such a way that their real aspect is effaced, so that familiar objects - clouds, amphora's, houses, trees or cubic forms - become united in a single poetically disciplined image. The poetry of these images dispense with any symbolic significance, old or new. Each of these recurring themes can be interpreted differently and has significant meanings. His paintings titled “Dark Matter”, “A New World” or “Civilization” represent visible images which evoke a kind of mystery. Thomas Maes` constant play with reality and illusion can be attributed to his interest in history, science and culture. Since seven years, the Belgium artist is living and working at the Greece island of Crete, surrounded by the ancient Minoan civilization and archetypical, archaeological find spots. In his artworks Maes is back and forth playing, zapping on and off with reality and illusion, reflecting his constant shifting back and forth perception during his mental time journey. Since many years Thomas Maes formed his own signature in a very clean, concise and exacting style. 5
In cooperation with the Princess Angelique Monet, Thomas Maes will also host an auction to sell paintings for a charity purpose. He will donate the funds from this auction to the Belgium Cancer Foundation (art against cancer) as well as 10 percent of the sale proceeds of the sold art works. Engaged to be part of a good cause, Thomas Maes is interested to inspire us, because his works represent both dreams and apparent paradoxes at the same time. The themes and motifs encourage thinking about our world, about the Mankind, Genesis, Macrocosm and the Universe. Lucien Stilss Italian-Dutch artist Lucien Stilss has created a unique artistic universe characterized by dreamlike references, and a distinct mix of eroticism and spirituality. With a focus on the female body and its relationship with both the natural and spiritual planes, Stilss merges decidedly modern, recognizable portraits of celebrities and other notable personalities with a traditional Italian Renaissance approach and style. A hallmark of her art is a careful attention to detail combined with a freedom of execution that renders the painting more fantastical than figurative and adds a surrealistic element to the overall effect. Indeed, to Stilss,
“Every painting is a door, a door that allows us to go into a fantastic world.” Working primarily with oil on canvas as well as with other experimental techniques, Stilss strives in each piece to capture all the beauty there is to be found in the human form. To her, the human spirit is contained in human shapes, particularly the eyes. Colors are muted and much emphasis is placed on line and form, which draws attention to the figurative aspects of her portraits. In this way, Stilss is able to “represent people, looking for their innate divine beauty which comes from God.” But what perhaps is the most memorable aspect of Stilss’ paintings is the way that modern pop culture is juxtaposed so naturally against a backdrop filled with recognizable Renaissance themes, palettes, and forms. Background creatures seem to emerge from a dream world, with nymphs, angels, and mythological creatures populating the canvas. The effect is not jarring but rather poignant, infusing new layers of meaning into the tableau. Here, the viewer is invited to question what they know, to begin to find new relevance and interconnections between modern and antiquated modalities of expression. Info and contact at: www.lucydt.com

Princess Angelique Monét (A.Monét) A. Monét is an American multi-media talent whom utilizes her well-rounded background in performance and film to visually translate emotions, capturing them on canvas. Her mediums include graphite, charcoal, latex, oils and acrylics on canvas or paper, meant to cultivate an abstract expressionist sometimes surreal, style of rich colors and emotions. Having studied Latin at an early age, she translated the Iliad and the Odyssey, which enriched Monét's imagination, expanding her consciousness for spiritual development and artistic expression. At the age of fourteen, Monét created an original edition of "Fine Press Artist Book," showcasing poetry, art, and short stories with her interpretation of Homer, the Iliad, and the Odyssey. As an abstract expressionist, Monét combines figurative meaning to use the art as a vestibule, which engages the observer into a deep spiritually awakened state. Her latest collection of work is entitled, "Parallel Life-Parallel Universe: Making the Shift," captures images of various planes of existence and beings of unknown origin on canvas. Her works have been described by art curators as, "her transparent proposal through the canvas she basically exposes herself." Her latest art book showcases her latest collection of images combined with A. Monét's written philosophies of alternate realities.

The art of abstract expressionism and its mystery overseas, the 'artist Angelique MonĂŠt Princess , New York, under the lens of prof.Curator Domenico Andalone Delnegro. Dig in and 'This is the word of' order, gutting their emotionalism ', translating the neural connective tissue on painting, enter the rooms of madness perceptual rooms of scientific perception for posterity, being an artist in isolation in a desperate attempt a final message to the company 'of consumerism and its projection into the pleasures individualistic, the ghost hovers art with his bare forms of Greek and leziosimo of' artistic academicism, a glimpse, a disturbance that will lead 'death dead artists, dissolved like moths in a moment, we are for the broad shape the unfolding of energy, because it has the impact of the unequivocal mystery, we wish to reaffirm the painted surface, sacral and demonic. Princess Angelique Monét World Renowned Curator Jorge Luis Gutierez speaks of artist A. Monét (Princess Angelique Monét) during Art Basel "The Best Art I've Seen Today," Contemporary Art Exhibition (television interview for Nothing On Television TV) It is quite interesting the way she creates an interior world.... A.Monét is capable of building a whole narrative of different situations through her visual arts internal vision of the world. Many artist are more concerned about what happens outside than what happens inside in the case of A.Monét it is very interesting how she goes from Evolution to the other works that relate to very personal experiences and in particular this one "Your Mine," it is very interesting because it synthesizes a magnificent book about the role of the artist which is called "The Gift," by Lewis Hyde. In art work once you like it, it's yours, if you buy it or not that's the other issue but once you like it you feel it's part of you so this ICONIC PIECE is very interesting in that sense. The other important component in her exhibition is how colors shift, how form changes, and we start with very intense dark colors, type traces on the first artwork in evolution and we end up with a total different proposal. The proposal is light colors, more space, lighter levels of expression. Which I think that the interesting part of Monét is her transparent proposal through the canvas she is basically exposing herself through her feelings, her way of looking at the world and that is what she really believes about art and that is what contemporary art is all about. Artisan Festival International World Peace Initiative is comprised of mini-festivals representative of the Arts (Fine Art, Film, Fashion, Music, Theater) brought together under one umbrella in an effort to promote cultural diversity through the arts. Our goal is to bring such rich culture to each community we work with and encourage as much community support as possible to facilitate an understanding that we are a cultural arts organization seeking to add to the communities we serve while simultaneously assisting with peace efforts on a global scale. "The mission of Artisan Festival International World Peace Initiative is to bridge the gap in cultural diversity worldwide. By promoting culture other than ones own through film, art, fashion, theatre and music, one can begin to have an understanding and appreciation of others. This is the way to begin creating world peace," stated Princess Angelique MonĂŠt, Festival Founder and Director. Our events will promote visual/video art, film, fashion, theatre and music. Within A.F.I. we have created five Signature mini Festivals each with it's own audience, but we hope to encourage cross-demographic involvement between each area. Princess Angelique MonĂŠt will donate funds from her auction to the Artisan Festival International World Peace Initiative and the Funds to assist Young People and the Arts. Funds will be given to "bonafide" schools in Africa, the fund to provide fiscal support for artist living in third world countries with great stories and ideas.
