High School Profile 2018-2019 TH School was established in 2016 as an independent co-educational boarding and day school that offers an internationally focused college preparatory education. TH School blends a holistic English-based international educational experience with a deep appreciation of Vietnamese language, literature, history and culture.

Vision

The genesis for TH School has come from school founder Madame Thái Hương’s vision to create a network of schools throughout Vietnam that provides students with a world class English-based international education, state-of-theart resources, purpose-built modern facilities and nutritious meals, all in a nurturing atmosphere of high expectations, support and kindness.

A modern purpose-built campus in the Chùa Bộc district located in central Hanoi has been completed. During the 2016-2017 school year, the Chùa Bộc campus enrolled 45 Grade 10 and 11 students who were on full scholarship. A phased enrollment plan for the Chùa Bộc campus followed in August 2017 with the addition of Pre-KG, Kindergarten and Grades 1-5, 6-7 and 1012. Projected enrollment at the Chùa Bộc campus for Pre-KG - Grade 12 will reach a full capacity at 750 students.

In August 2018, a second TH School opened in Hoà Lạc, located approximately 25 km outside Hanoi’s central business district. The Hoà Lạc campus follows TH School’s philosophy and educational program, currently enrolling 41 Grade 8-10 boarding students.

Establish at least one TH School campus in each of Vietnam’s 58 provinces.

School Community

350 students from Pre-KG (age 2) to Grade 12 are currently enrolled for the 2018-2019 school year. Parents of TH students come from all walks of life, representing a range of socioeconomic diversity and occupations including: agriculture, business, diplomacy, government and other professional and nonprofessional sectors.

School Calendar

The school year consists of no less than 180 teacher-student contact days running from mid-August through mid-June.

Academic Programs

TH School is authorized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to deliver an “experimental” program, which offers international curricula including the IEYC, IPC, IMYC, IGCSE and A Levels in English and mother tongue courses in Literature, History and Culture in Vietnamese. Grades 11 & 12: The A Level program is a demanding pre-university internationally recognized course of study that leads to external exams at the end of Grades 11 and 12. TH students in Grades 11 and 12 take three A Level subjects of their choosing, supplemented with required courses in English Language and Vietnamese Literature, History and Culture. All TH students in Grades 11 and 12 currently take three A Level courses.

Academic Honesty

All students are expected to demonstrate honesty and integrity while in attendance at TH School. Students are expected to do their own work. This includes test taking, homework, class assignments and the creation of original essays, compositions, term papers and scientific research.

Service Learning

All TH School students participate in service learning projects (SLPs). SLPs can be school sponsored, externally organized or student led.

TH Scholarship Program

90% of current Grade 12 students are on full scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on academic potential and economic need.

Co-Curricular Activities

TH School has an emerging co-curricular program that includes (or will include): World Scholar’s Cup, Debate, Athletics, Music, Service Learning, Global Issues Network, Student Council and Drama. C O N TA C T I N F O R M AT I O N

Graduation Requirements

A Level Courses Offered

Each non-A Level subjects in Grades 11 and 12 meets approximately five times over a tenday cycle. A Level courses meet seven times per cycle. Each period is 55 minutes. Due to the number of hours required for A Level courses, each A Level course is given 2 credits per year.

Grading

TH School offers full and half credit courses. Each full-year course passed earns 1 credit. Half credit courses earn 0.5 credit. Twenty-three (23) credits are needed to earn a TH School diploma. Credits can be earned at TH School or other accredited institutions.
