Letter From The Publishers

All across the state in March we all witnessed much heart ache and loss with the flooding and devastation it caused in our great state. For that reason we want to send out our condolences and best wishes to those that experienced loss in the flooding, and hope you all recover quickly. With the spring comes the beginning of the riding season. There are scheduled rides, benefits, rallies, and bike nights everywhere. And although you cannot possibly make every one of them, ( and neither can we), please make as many as you can. I had a biker friend tell me when he picks a benefit to attend, he listens to his gut, and it tells him which ones are right for him, and closest to his heart. We will have our staff members cover as many as possible, and feel free to email us any information, pictures, and write ups you may have from any event you attend, and we will do our best to get it in the magazine. Also, please make sure you check in this issue and every issue to see if you are one of the monthly winners in our Louisiana Thunder Run Ride & Win program. If you do not have a FREE numbered ride card, you should also check this and every issue for a location near you. We add stops all month long from our sponsors and participating biker friendly business. We also have all the information on Thunder Roads Louisiana face book page, Louisiana Thunder Run face book page, and our newly constructed awesome website, www.thunderroadslouisiana.org If you do not see a location near you for a registration stop to get your card, or a check in stop if you already have your card, drop us a message on face book or at our website of who you would like us to add, and we will do our best to put them on the list. Remember, the more places you visit, the more chances to win the monthly prizes and the big prizes at the end in October. Louisiana Thunder Run is a branded, trademarked, copyrighted program, with a creative patent pending, and cannot be duplicated in any way shape or form. Thank you to all of our advertisers and supporters for keeping Thunder Roads Louisiana the NUMBER 1 BIKER MAGAZINE in the state for over 12 years. DO NOT be fooled by “wannabes” or plagiarizing copy cats. See ya on the road as members of our ROAD CREW are traveling throughout the state for the next 6 months to a town near you. We have obtained MANY EXCLUSIVE media privileges with many venues all season long and will be featuring things you will ONLY see in Thunder Roads Louisiana. And remember, where there are bikes, there is going to be thunder!

Maritime Biker

by Captain Steve

What’s up my brothers and fellow offshore trash... Still riding my time and of course, my bike.... In previous months we showcased Maritime Bikers that worked on platforms pumping crude out the ground, but that crude has to get delivered somehow. So, this month we are introducing a fellow towboater, who makes a living transporting the product across the country through inland waters. This month’s Maritime Biker, Captain Bruce Rivet, has been pushing oil for the last 10 years up and down that big ditch we call the Mississippi River. He’s currently working on the M/V Eugenie Cenac, a 3000 horsepower Z DRIVE vessel with a 900 ft tow from Empire, La. to West Virginia. He fights currents and dangerously high waters to get the commodities to customers in need. Hats off to you Bruce and the rest of the guys that work on the river, keeping your crew safe and getting the job done! It takes a special breed to navigate the mighty Mississippi River. When he is not on the river, he enjoys spending time riding his 2002 VTX 1800 Honda with his Street Survivors brothers, who are always riding for one of their many good causes. He has been a member for almost 10 years, since the club first started helping countless charities, bringing smiles to the faces of those less fortunate. Also, on his time off, he drives a big rig moving farm equipment and heavy machinery for friends and family helping the local economy. So, there’s Bruce’s story, keep the thunder rolling and tell me yours... If you would like to be featured as one of our hard working Maritime Bikers, send me pictures of your work, your ride and a story of what you do and what you ride for to captstevetrmla@gmail.com and each month we pay homage to a hard working Maritime Biker !

A.B.A.T.E MEMBERS TO THE CAPITAL TO FIGHT FOR RIGHTS FOR ALL ROAD USERS By Glenn C. McGovern, Attorney and MSF Instructor

The Louisiana Chapter of the American Bikers Active Toward Education (A.B.A.T.E) visited the legislature in Baton Rouge, La. on March 14, 2016. Over 93 members of A.B.A.T.E rode in mass to the Capital and roamed the halls and sat in on the Joint Transportation Committee hearings. The Louisiana Chapter A.B.A.T.E. group members were recognized by the chairman of the Joint Transportation Committee as they literally filled the Meeting Room 5 of the Senate Transportation Committee. Despite the weekend of flooding in North Louisiana, A.B.A.T.E. members still attended in force and made their presence know to the House and Senate members. Over 12OO new laws were introduced and many of them were A.B.A.T.E sponsored bills. It was announced during their visit that Glenn C. McGovern, V.P. of the G.N.O. ABATE Chapter, who had worked with Senator Gary Smith and Representative Stephanie Hilferty had Senator Smith and Representative Hilferty had jointly introduced the Louisiana A.B.A.T.E sponsored All Road Users Act S.B. 171 which will be heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee B on April 12 or April 19, 2016. This is exciting news as A.B.A.T.E. has for years been trying to get a bill passed to protect motorcyclists who are killed or maimed by motorists. Under present law, such motorists that kill or maim motorcyclists usually get a $100 ticket plus court costs instead of a suspension, revocation of their license, substantial fines,, probation and jail time. SB 171 introduced by Senator Gary Smith of St. Rose and Representative Stephanie Hilferty of Metairie, would change the law to protect all motorcyclists, bicyclists, scooter operators, skateboarders,

farm vehicles and handicap persons in electric wheelchairs. A.B.A.T.E. is working to make the community safer for all non-caged road users. A.B.A.T.E also has a Share the Road Program it puts on for new student drivers in motorcycle and truck awareness. A.B.A.T.E.’ s mission is lobbying for motorcyclists rights and education. It is the only motorcycle organization in Louisiana that actively lobbies for motorcyclist’s rights. A.B.A.T.E. is reaching out to all motorcyclists to join A.B.A.T.E. to help protect all motorcyclists. Also, it is requested all motorcyclists write your legislators a.s.a.p. to urge the support of SB 171 the All Road Users Act and appear at the hearings in April 12 or 19, 2016 at 10 a.m. when the hearings of the Judiciary Committee B will be held. This story is but one example of how A.B.A.T.E. is working to make the community safer for all road users.

Pushing Out The Miles

Leaving Alexandria Louisiana, with an unknown destination was exhilarating to say the least. That Cajun rode his bike north east, going through T-Towne as we talked back and forth about my past fishing trips at Archie Bunker Landing. OF COURSE this led to an argument about what kinda fish was the best eating. We were headed towards Ferriday, where he educated me on Jerry Lee Lewis aka the Lady killer. Of course that Cajun had to stop at the (welcome to Ferriday sign) and indulge himself in selfies . We rolled into Mississippi as the Allman Brothers Midnight rider blared in our ears . Under the dark Mississippi night skies we turned on the Natchez Trace. This mysterious road draped with hundred year old trees hanging over the road gives you a sense of turning back time. We stopped at Emerald Mound and hiked up the side of this huge Indian monument formed so many years ago . I was blanketed in the dark starry sky….. Just me,” that Cajun”, (and his bike Codeine), distanced ourselves from the rest of the world. Even though we stopped off at an old friend’s home, but we didn’t stay long because that Cajun always travels at his own deadline to his own destination, and is always anxious to get back on the road. I must say that our travels through Mississippi were memorable. We encountered a pimp, a few cops, and an unprovoked road stop. It wasn’t until the next morning that, the Cajun informed me that our destination was Hellbenders HD in Atlanta Georgia . The stores closing time was 5 pm and our GPS

arrival time was approximately 5:45 pm. racing to get to our destination. We showed Mississippi, Alabama, and half of Georgia just exactly what (Codeine) was about. Only one stop was made on our return trip at the HD shop in Meridian Mississippi were we were greeted at the door by the owner himself. He showed us around his shop and that Cajun and I spoke to him about our upcoming Hoka Hey Challenge and why it was important to us. For those of you that don’t know what the Hoka Hey Challenge is please go to their website and learn about this 12 day long riding challenge. When getting back to Louisiana with that Cajun and Codeine tucked in at Cajun Worx in Abbeville our trip was a total of 9 states there and back and shortly over 1800 miles in 48 hours with a 7 hour rest stop. I can honestly say that Cajun has showed me that inside I have a biker begging to escape and hit the road on my own adventures. I challenge everyone reading this to take a weekend off from life and strap your ass down to the seat and set out with a destination unknown for 48 hours . Discover yourself and your own inner biker. Push yourself when you think you’re tired, your ass hurts, and your wrist is cramping from holding the throttle wide open, just keep going just one more hour and see where you end up and who you discover …. Then you will know what it’s like to push out the miles! By: Jennifer Dugan

Pastor’s Corner Nothing like waking up early on a nice spring morning, walking out to my hog pen and seeing my Blue Eagle (2014 CVO Ultra Classic) waiting on me to hit the start button. But first I always make sure I put on my riding gear. You know the drill - boots, jacket, vest, gloves and helmet. Then I throw my 6’ 5” heavy frame on the seat. While I must admit I don’t always wear the same boots, helmet or gloves there is one thing I never forget to do and that is PRAY! Each time without fail, I ask the Father to protect me and those who ride with me. I pray for His protection on those who may be going a different way than my day’s journey. I ask Him to keep us alert, make us visible, to protect us against the evil, violent, forgetful, neglectful people we meet along the way. I pray He returns us home safe each and every time we ride. We have blessed thousands of motorcycles over the years. We give them each a wooden cross with a black, red, white, and blue bead attached. Each cross is hand made by a member of In The Wind Ministries. While they are making these crosses they pray for the one who will be receiving their cross. While we make them for our brother and sisters of the road, over the years we have placed them on motorcycles, cars, trucks, helicopters, planes, submarines, air craft carriers, rescue dogs, ....... On and on.

reminder that their little cross is a symbol of God’s love, protection and that someone is praying for them. I wrote a short prayer that is on a card that is with every cross and I want to share it with you. “Heavenly Father, I know You will ride with me today. I pray You will be right by my side and guide my every turn. Make me visible and protect me from the carelessness of others I meet on the road. Let no harm come to me or those who ride along. Bring me home, back to my family safe and sound. Thank You for the wind in my face and the joy in my heart. Amen” So as we start the 2016 riding season, I hope you will use this short prayer before you ride. If you would like a cross and prayer card, please contact me, I would love to send you one (they are free). My contact information is: Pastor T Tinthewind@gmail.com www.PastorTonline.com Blessings and ride safe Pastor T

We have crosses from Pikes Peak to Hell Jamaica and just about every place between. The cross is not a good luck charm but rather a symbol of God’s protection and that someone is praying for you. Each cross had four beads on the leather we use to tie it on. The black bead represents that everyone has done wrong, sinned and that is why Jesus died upon the cross. The red bead represents the blood that Jesus shed on the cross for our sin. The white bead represents the forgiveness we can have by the shedding of His blood, for our sins on the cross. The blue bead represents God’s promises. His promise to forgive us of our failures, His promise to love us, His promise to protect us. His promise to be with us always. I tell people when I give them a cross, that every time they look down and see it blowing in the wind, let it be a 12 THUNDER ROADS MAGAZINE LOUISIANA

Bull’s Eye By Lulu I have only repeated a Bull’s Eye one other time and that was when Bruce Rossmeyer passed away, but a very dear friend of mine and of bikers in Florida died this month and I wanted to rerun the article I wrote about him years ago. Thank you for reading about someone I admired and loved dearly and will be missed by family, friends and fans!!! There are people in life who simply live each moment, for the moment and make that moment as full as it can possibly be. Dan Haggerty, a.k.a. Grizzly Adams, is one such soul. Born in Hollywood, CA, raised in a Franciscan monastery from the age of 7-16, he was destined to spread his wings once he left to explore the world. Throughout his entire life, he has been in the midst of interesting and extraordinary people. His grandfather was the president of the AFL-CIO. His father was an Olympic skier and a union rep for the film industry. In his youth he fell in love with exotic animals and nature. He befriended Mabel Stark, a 75 year old animal handler with Barnum and Bailey Circus. She gave him his first lion cub, which started him down the road of being an animal trainer in the film industry. He still has a game park, Wild Life Images, in Grant Pass, Oregon. At 14, he chopped his bicycle and the custom bikes he has

built look very similar to that early creation. By the age of 16, he was working under Von Dutch, where he learned painting and pin striping. He has owned his own leather business, Cornocopia. He made the hat Clint Eastwood wore in Two Mules for Sister Sarah. While at work in his leather shop with his pet wolf at his side, he was approached to have the wolf star in a movie in the south of France. So, as a true adventure seeker would; he closed up shop and flew off to France. Loving the country and life style he stayed for two years and while there attended the Cordon Bleu Culinary School. He was an animal trainer for the TV series, Tarzan, filmed in Brazil. A scene in a movie, in which he wrestled a Siberian Tiger, led to his landing the part of Grizzly Adams in the movie and eventually, the TV series with his co-star Ben. He has built custom bikes for Bill Smith of Rich Man, Poor Man fame, and Ann Margret. Dan, Sugar Bear and Tex Hall built the famous red, white and blue bikes in Easy Rider. Today he is involved with Club Navigo Resorts as their spokesman and he says being in Florida has been an energy boost for him. He also is involved in a line of log cabins, Lang Creek Log Homes. Dan filmed 86 episodes of the Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, he has a full page of movies he has been in, including Girl Crazy with Elvis Presley, Muscle Beach with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello and even Easy Rider. He was the stunt man; animal trainer and actor in Snow Tiger which he helped bring to the screen with an $185,000 budget. This film’s return for the studio was a 435 million dollar. If all of this doesn’t exhaust you, trying to get it all down on one page did me! Yet this 67 year old doesn’t seem to rest. A new Grizzly Adams film is to begin filming this spring with costars that include David Carradine, Robbie Knievel and possibly Drew Barrymore as his granddaughter. He is on his bike more than just about anyone I know. When asked about his love of riding he replied, “My bike is my girlfriend, one day I love her and the next day we’re cranky, but the sound of a Harley 14 THUNDER ROADS MAGAZINE LOUISIANA

and Ferrari are the two greatest sounds in the world.” Even a horrible MC accident in Benedict Canyon in 1994 which actually resulted in a death notice with his name on it, and left him with a bad leg, didn’t keep him off two wheels. He says he meets the most wonderful people on two wheels, recalling a time on The Love Ride out west, when the man riding next to him introduced himself and it was Malcolm Forbes. Talented…energetic…creative… adventuresome…loving…extremely funny and smart, but the two things that leave me in total awe of Dan is his passion for people and commitment to helping charities like Angel Flight and Shand’s Burn Center. He NEVER seems to tire of requests for pictures with him and when he signs an autograph it is never a quick Dan Haggerty, it becomes a touch and a conversation. At that moment the person making the request is the most important person in the room. In a crowded room, before anyone realizes who he is, he fills the room with such energy, people want to be close to him and his energy for this amazes me. This is a biker with a story that had so many bumps in the road anyone else would have put their kickstand down, but not “Hag” as his brother refers to him. His mother, Ruthie, says “being Dan’s mother is like being on a roller coaster”. But when you live a grand life you take the good with the bad and just focus on the next cycle of life. In Dan’s words, “Nothing remains the same”. I would have to argue with Dan on that, the love and respect of Dan’s friends and fans will always remain the same…

T E C H Choosing the Perfect Exhaust By: Kaitlyn Beecroft Every rider loves a good aftermarket exhaust, there is nothing quite as pleasing to the ears as the rumble of a Vance & Hines exhaust system. But why should you get an exhaust? Why is this one of the most popular upgrades for all types of riders? The answer is simple, riders are looking to upgrade their bike in sound, performance, and look. Aftermarket exhausts come in all flavors from simple slip-on style to full race systems. A new exhaust opens up your motor and your bike will perform and sound much better once it’s uncorked. Upgrading from your stock exhaust is one of the most cost effective performance and style parts.

Intro To Exhausts What does a motorcycle exhaust do? • The exhaust on a motorcycle serves several important purposes. • The exhaust directs the hot combustion gasses away from the rider. • The muffler significantly reduces the noise from your motor. Aids in engine performance by working in harmony with the system, without an exhaust too much air would come directly into the system in the wrong direction.

T I P S places. • Also aftermarket mufflers come in a range of styles so you can get the sound you want. • If you want to strictly change the look and sound alone this is the most cost efficient way to do it. Full System • FullSizeRenderMost power increase is found in the headpipes, the less restrictive the header pipe the more power you gain. • A 2-into-1 style header pipe is well known for the best torque increase on V-twin motorcycles. Fortunately for those who want to keep the classic dual muffler look Vance & Hines has designed a header pipe using a power chamber which offers the same 2-into-1 performance without losing the dual pipes. • The most significant way to reduce weight is to go with a full system. • A full system does require fuel management changes such as jetting for carburetor or fuel controller for fuel injected motorcycles. • They require more work to install but are well worth the effort. Brand? It all comes down to personal preference, this really depends on what you are looking for as each brand offers something for everyone. Our Monthly Product Guide features some of our favorite performance products from big names like Vance & Hines, Two Brothers Racing, and Crusher.

Why should I buy an aftermarket exhaust? • Aftermarket exhausts are much lighter than stock. • The stock exhaust not only muffles the sound but restricts the horsepower. • It’s one of the best “bang for your buck” upgrades you can buy. • Change the sound of your bike to more aggressive growl or mellow it out, whatever you want.

What else do I need with my new exhaust? So now you have decided on which exhaust you want to order, but don’t check out just yet. An exhaust alone isn’t all you’ll need make sure to grab these essentials. Gaskets: what is the point of spending all that money on a new exhaust if it doesn’t seal up properly? An air leak can wreck havoc on your motor. Fuel control: your engine will now be working more efficiently, but that means your fuel to air ratio is out of alignment. This can cause your bike to run too lean which can be problematic. Always have it tuned. Check for mounting brackets: certain models require a different mounting system, always make sure to double check before you check out

Exhaust Upgrade 101 Which exhaust should I buy? Now that you know you want to buy an aftermarket exhaust the next question comes, which is the best exhaust for you? The truth is it depends on personal preference and on the restrictions your state may have, always check with your local police department. Slip-On • In all honesty you won’t get the same performance from a slip-on as a full system, so why get one? Well they’re typically less expensive and easy to install. • A slip-on muffler is simple and usually made to be a single part upgrade. • An aftermarket muffler is much lighter than the stock muffler it reTHUNDER ROADS MAGAZINE LOUISIANA 15

Maryland, having passed the state Senate unanimously 47-0 on March 3 and now moves to the House, positioning Maryland to become the second state in the country behind Washington to pass such anti-discrimination legislation

ANTI-PROFILING BILL HEARD IN MINNESOTA A minority group claims its members are being unfairly profiled and stopped by police, and it’s demanding a bill to prevent it. That group is motorcyclists, and the legislation, put before Minnesota’s Senate Judiciary Committee by State Senator David Osmek (R-Mound), would require Minnesota’s Board of Peace Officer Standards & Training to develop a statewide policy to eliminate motorcyclist profiling, including methods to identify and avoid it. SF1509 in the Senate, and companion bill HF59 in the House, would also require every law enforcement agency in the state to have “a written anti-motorcycle profiling policy. In testimony, several members of Minnesota motorcycle clubs laid out a litany of their own experiences: Officers they believed had pulled them over on trumped-up pretenses questioned them about who they were and why they were in their community and, in some cases, photographed their tattoos & patches. “It’s my constitutional right to be in a Motorcycle Club,” said Jim Jahnke of Rochester, the National V.P. of the Sons of Silence MCFrank Ernst of Chanhassen, MN representing ABATE of Minnesota, and also chairman of the National Coalition of Motorcyclists - Legislative Task Force (NCOMLTF), described an instance in which he said he was pulled over by an officer who claimed he hadn’t seen Ernst’s protective eye wear, which he was wearing, but Ernst didn’t file an official complaintSen. Osmek admitted the bill is based largely on anecdotal evidence, but told the state’s Daily Globe newspaper that “I’m focusing on something that constituents brought to me that they had issue with,” and he urges motorcyclists to file complaints and collect data on their own in order to make a stronger caseMeanwhile, a motorcycle profiling bill is gaining momentum in

WHITE HOUSE PUSHES DRIVERLESS CARS The Obama administration aims to remove hurdles to making autonomous cars more widespread, and the President’s fiscal 2017 budget proposes spending $4 Billion over the next decade to accelerate the integration of driverless cars on U.S. roadwaysThe administration’s multi-billion dollar proposal, which would require Congressional approval, calls on federal regulators to work with auto makers and others to craft policies and rules regarding autonomous vehicles and their development“We are going to do everything we can to advance safe, smart and sustainable transportation innovations,” announced Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx at the Detroit Auto Show, “We are bullish on automated vehicles. In addition to the new testing programs, Foxx also unveiled ambitious federal guidelines that he says will get self-driving on the roads quicker -- and more safely -- than ever thought possible. “(These actions) will provide the foundation and the path forward for manufacturers, state officials and consumers to use new technologies and achieve their full safety potential” he saidNow, NHTSA will seek input from automakers and others as the auto agency tries to wrap its arms around the deployment and operation of fully selfdriving cars as the norm, not an anomalyIn addition, the agency plans to team up with state partners and the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators to develop a model driverless car policy states can implement, hopefully laying the groundwork for a consistent national policy

FEWER AMERICANS GETTING A DRIVER’S LICENSE It used to be a rite of passage into adulthood, but today fewer and fewer U.S. residents are lining up at their local DMV to get a driver’s license, and new data indicates that all age groups are affectedAnalyzing decades of data from the Federal Highway Administration, a team from the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute found that since 2011, the number of U.S. citizens with drivers licenses across all age groups, from 16 to 70, has decreasedA recent University of Michigan report analyzed decades’ worth of Federal Highway Administration records to show how licensure across all age groups has declined in the period stretching from 1983 to 2014Last year, nearly 77% of 20- to 24-year-old drivers held a license; in 1983, nearly 92% in that age bracket had one. Four years ago, the number was about 80%. For 16- through 44-year-olds, there has been a continuous decline in the percentage of people with a driver’s licenseThe news may not be surprising for younger generations, who are more likely to use public transit or a ride-sharing company, or telecommute, but researchers also found a decline in the number of older adults with a driver’s licenseOther reports have detected related trends, such as a decrease in the distance driven per person and less travel time overall, but even as the age of driverless cars approaches, a driver’s license will continue to be mandatory for years to come

Hello Everyone! And surprise to the columnist and writer of this column, Dina Moore. This month is about you! This month I wanted to write this article to introduce you to Dina. For 2 years now she has been the composer of this feature to give credit to female bikers that ride, and give back to the biker community. She does such a good job of giving credit to all these ladies, that I thought it time she got some credit herself. You know her as the writer, but what you do not know about her is her endless efforts and time she gives to the biker community, her family, her step family, and Thunder Roads Magazine. If there is a benefit, or poker run in the Houma, Thibodaux area, she is probably involved in some way helping to get donations, food, fliers out, or just helping with the preparations the day of the event. On a personal note, Dina is the matriarch of her family, and takes care to show equal amounts of love to each of them, and her and Steve’s children, whether they are blood or not. She is known for “adopting” many into her heart and if you ask any of them, they all call her “momma Dina”. What many of you do not know is that Dina owned her own franchise muffler and mechanic shop, and she is up there with any old school mechanic in the wrenching department on her skill set. So if you need any work in the Houma or Thibodaux area, on your bike, or car. Give her a call. This was a pretty hard article for me to write, as I get all mushy and stuff because I love my sister Dina. There aren’t very many people left in this world that you can actually call “kind”. This lipstick rider is one kind lady, and loved very much. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do and wish you many more years as staff writer with Thunder Roads! Your loyalty and honesty are very much appreciated. Also congratulations on your upcoming marriage in September to your best friend, and our Maritime Biker author, Captain Steve Dupre. So there you have it. Dina’s story in a nut shell, but there is so much more to tell about her life and so interesting and entertaining. I personally think she should write a book! Send Dina an email so everyone can read about you if you are a bad ass lipstick writer! trmla@gmail.com Written by: Renee

1st Annual Broken Spokes & Fouled Plugs

ABATE Of Louisiana Meeting Schedule

On February 20th the Lafayette Road Shakers threw a party inviting the public out to a meet and greet of their race team. It was a kick ass event and if you didn’t make it you sure missed a good time. The day was filled with race chatter, bikes, good music, excellent food, cold beer, family and friends. We sat outside all day at Murphy’s Law located off Pin Hook in Lafayette, and raised money for the race teams and introduced the public to the men behind the bikes Cy Arcement, John Wayne and Jason Romero. Raising money to help support the 2016 race year, the money will be used for gas, entry fees, and parts as the racing season is upon us. The party didn’t stop there ! Rolling into the night it was obvious that The Road Shakers know how to have a good time. We sat around the bonfire drinking, swapping stories, and doing keg stands. If you’re a race fan check the 2016 race schedule and go out and support these men as they do what they love living life 1 down and 5 up . You can still help support these racers by cheering them on and buying support shirts. Until the next round be safe ....Jenn

Dear people who type in all lowercase….. We are the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse. Sincerely, Capital Letters. A very old man lay dying in his bed. In death’s doorway, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookie wafting up the stairs. He gathered his remaining strength and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort forced himself down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands. With labored breath, he leaned against the door frame, gazing into the kitchen. Were it not for death’s agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven. There, spread out on newspapers on the kitchen table were literally hundreds of his favorite chocolate chip cookies. Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted wife, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man? Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself toward the table. The aged and withered hand, shaking, made its way to a cookie at the edge of the table, when he was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife. “Stay out of those,” she scolded, “they’re for the dang funeral. A woman was patiently trying to help her husband set up his new computer. He however was acting annoyed and impatient. She told him to choose a password for security purposes. He made it plainly obvious to his wife what he was entering by stating each letter out loud as he typed: P...E...N...I...S His wife fell off her chair laughing when the computer replied: Password Rejected. Not Long Enough. A fifty-ish woman was at home happily jumping on her bed and squealing with delight. Her husband watches her for a while and asks, “Do you have any idea how ridiculous you look?, What’s the matter with you?” The woman continues to bounce on the bed and says, “I don’t care; I just came from having a mammogram and the Doctor said I have the breasts of a 20 year-old” The husband sarcastically replied, “What did he say about your 55 year old ass?” The wife quickly replied, “Actually, your name never came up.”

Things That Make You Go WTF? WHY do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while so-called healthy people can buy cigarettes at the register right by front door? WHY do people order double, bacon cheeseburgers, large fries, and a Diet Coke? WHY do banks leave mammoth vault doors wide open and then chain the pens to the counters? WHY do we always take a dump, then stand up and turn around and scope it out? WHY do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage? WHY do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight? WHY can’t most women put on mascara with their mouth closed? WHY don’t you ever see the headline; ‘Psychic Wins Lottery’? WHY is ‘abbreviated’ such a long word? WHY is it that doctors call what they do ‘practice’? WHY do Politicians always talk about equality when our entire political system is structured to pit us against each other with two major sides? WHY is the man who invests all your money called a broker? WHY is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour? WHY isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food? WHY didn’t Noah swat those damn, last two mosquitoes? WHY do they sterilize the needle and the arm when prisons do lethal injections? You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? WHY don’t they make the whole plane out of that stuff? WHY don’t sheep shrink when it rains? WHY are they called apartments when they are all stuck together? WHY if flying is supposedly so safe, do they call the airport the terminal? WHY in a 3,000 sq. ft. home, if there’s one fly in the entire house, it’s buzzing around you throughout the entire day? WHY is it if you go grocery shopping when hungry you end up spending twice the amount of money on food you can’t eat till you get home? Good reasoning to stop and grab a burger before going to the grocery store. Why is it some people will go sky-diving and love it but refuse to get on a commercial plane as a passenger and fly? Why is the word conundrum so fun to say? Fact: Life is Short, but laughter goes a Long way.

Outlaw Lynn Band Don’t Miss the 34th Annual Mississippi Gulfcoast Blowout!

Friday May 28th will feature southern rockers The Outlaw Lynn Lewis Band to start your rally weekend off. Texas native, Outlaw Lynn, is a singer, songwriter, ASCAP recording artist and gifted vocalist and entertainer. He loves his job to sing and entertain all people, and help them have a great experience at every live performance, from the intimate venues to the big July 4th celebration for an estimated 15,000 people for 4 straight years in Houston, Texas! His smooth, sultry bass voice changes from his original songs such as ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ to an earthy, sultry vibrato, with just a hint of gruffness, when he performs songs such as “Blue On Black” by Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Other rocking covers include ‘Every Time I Roll The Dice’ by Delbert McClinton, ‘Tore Down’ by Eric Clapton, ZZ Top’s ‘Balanese’, ‘Jesus Just Left Chicago’, ‘La Grange’, ‘Mexican Blackbird’ and more. His first CD, Hot Ridin Mama, was a result of his travels throughout America. Hitch hiking his way on his travels led to some great songs to hear as you are driving on your adventures, whether on your bike or when you are caging it. Songs such as “Texas Comin’ Home’, Movin’ On Down The Line’, ‘Hot Ridin’ Mama’, ‘Sturgis Bound’, ‘Now I’m Gone’ and more are available on his CDs. Lets rock it on down the road! Andrew Jones - Guitar A veteran of the rock music scene in San Antonio and Houston, Andrew Jones can shred that guitar. His experience includes rock, alternative, and edgy blues. His style fits perfectly with Outlaw Lynn original songs, and pumps up the rock, country, classic rock, and blues cover tunes the band plays. From ZZ Top, to Stevie Ray Vaughn, to Delbert McClinton and Jonny Cash and George Strait, Andrew is the ultimate professional in getting those signature riffs in. While Andrew does sing, he prefers to have his lead guitar role in the Band as his primary focus. One day, he will cut loose on his vocals! Andrew is an electrician by trade, but, his passion is playing guitar and right now it is with the Outlaw Lynn. Mike Ronsonette – Drums Drummer Mike Ronsonette has been playing drums since he was eight years old. He got his first taste of playing to an audience in the sixth grade band at elementary school. By the time he was in junior high, he was playing in small local bands with his friends to play dances and fundraisers. He has played in and around Texas ever since. Mike is a rocking drummer who loves playing for the audiences. In his past, he was part of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center medical associates for 15 years. Jordan Ronsonette - Bass Guitar and Back-up Vocals Bass player and back-up vocalist Jordan Ronsonette is a Galena Park, Texas native, who has played many genres of music and enjoys the opportunity to play country, blues and classic rock in the Outlaw Lynn Band. He began playing at age nine and has played not only bass guitar, but lead guitar and drums. Jordan is a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served our country through three tours.

So don’t miss out on this awesome band at the blowout!

THUNDER ROADS

To All Fellow Motorcyclists Please take immediate action to support SB 171 the All Road Users Act that comes up for hearing in Judiciary C on April 12, 2016.

WHO READS THUNDER ROADS?

The problem with present law: As a motorcycle trial attorney I represent many motorcyclists that have been killed or seriously injured. In most bicycle, motorcycle, scooter crash cases, the motorists merely receives a $100 traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way plus court costs of $182 even when the motorists kills or causes the rider to lose a leg! This is not fair and promotes such reckless driving by distracted motorists. It is not just motorcyclists who suffer but all non-automobile road users in the community. Example: Linda Stewart is an ex-Navy controller. She is disabled from polio yet worked for the Navy as an accountant. She was recently hit in her electric wheelchair in a cross walk. She broke bones in her ankle and leg. The driver of a commercial truck got a $100 ticket for failure to yield. She is suffering and cannot tend to her small apartment by herself anymore due to this crash. She asks you to support SB 171 and will testify at the hearing. Edwin Fortier was killed when a drug impaired driver illegally failed to yield and crossed lanes knocking down his motorcycle and killing rider Fortier. The car driver was given a $100 ticket for failure to yield plus court costs of $183 in 1st Parish Court in Jefferson Parish.

Jim Knoblock and friend

Denham Springs motorcycle police officer James Foster was killed enroute to a car accident in Baton Rouge. The 70-year old driver disregarded Office Foster’s lights, siren and two Crown Victoria Police Interceptors with lights on and failed to yield turning into him. The driver was given a $100 ticket at the scene for failure to yield. I could list many others that are killed or injured and killed. The fatality rate for bicyclists is soaring just like for motorcyclists.  The bicyclists ask you to support SB 171 will testify about this growing problem that affects the safety of our communities all over Louisiana.

Please support SB 171 All Road Users Act that is based on the Model Vulnerable Road User Act law that has been adopted in several states to make the community safer. I look forward to testifying at the April 12, 2016 hearing and ask you to write to the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee C who will hear this bill. Take a minute to send an email to the chairman and members of the Committee. Here is the link: http://senate.la.gov/JudiciaryC/Assignments.asp Write your legislator. I remain, Glenn C.
