Game Surprising K-State up to 12th in AP poll Surprising Kansas State has climbed to No. 12 in The Associated Press college football poll, the Wildcats’ best ranking since 2004. Kansas State improved to 6-0 on Saturday night with a 41-34 comeback victory at Texas Tech and jumped five spots in the rankings released Sunday. It was the fourth straight week coach Bill Snyder’s Wildcats won as underdogs.
Day!
He first took over the program in 1989 and it wasn’t a stretch to call Kansas State the worst program in major college football. From 1938-1988, K-State won 130 games. Snyder was hired during 27-game winless streak. But from 1993-2003, Snyder led the Wildcats to a bowl every season, averaged 10 wins and contended for national championships.
The last time Kansas State was ranked this highly was the 2004 preseason poll, when the Wildcats were No. 12.
He stepped down after the 2005 season, but after three lackluster seasons under Ron Prince, he returned and has the Wildcats, who play in-state rival Kansas on Saturday, contending for a conference title again.
The top 10 teams in the rankings remained the same after a weekend filled with blowouts. No. 1 LSU received 41 first-place votes, No. 2 Alabama had 11 and No. 3 Oklahoma got six.
Just ahead of Kansas State at No. 11 in the latest rankings was West Virginia.
The rest of the top 10 was Wisconsin, Boise State (one first-place vote), Oklahoma State, Stanford, Clemson, Oregon and Arkansas. Kansas State went 7-6 last season and was picked eighth out of 10 in the Big 12’s preseason poll. But behind a much improved defense and a solid running game led by quarterback Collin Klein, the Wildcats are perfect after six games for the first time since 2000. Snyder is in his third season since coming out of retirement to return to the job he held for 17 years. The Wildcats’ resurgence this season is impressive, but when it comes to turnarounds, the 72-year-old Snyder has done much better in Manhattan, Kan.

No. 13 Nebraska was next, followed by South Carolina and Michigan State, which hosts Wisconsin on Saturday.
Gameday Wrap-up Alabama vs. Ole Miss The Tide continues to roll with yet another blow out win against the Ole Miss Rebels. Alabama had a huge day offensively and saw the usual stiff play from their stingy defense. Crimson Tide running back, Trent Richardson, led the way on the ground with 183 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Alabama also had outstanding play from their quarterback, AJ McCarron, who threw for 224 yards and had a touchdown of his own. Ole Miss initially was the first to score but that would be all they could squeak out against one of the nation’s top defensive squads. The Alabama defense gave up a total 141 yards and forced two turnovers. With this 52 - 7 victory, the Tide moves to 7-0. Auburn vs. Florida The Auburn versus Florida match up was predicted to be a close one with the Auburn Tigers favored by 3 points. Going into halftime with the Tigers leading 7 Continued on Pg 8
The rest of the top 20 had Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Michigan, Auburn and Georgia Tech, which dropped eight spots to No. 20 after its first loss. The 17th-ranked Wolverines fell seven spots after losing for the first time this season, 28-14 to Michigan State. The final five were undefeated Houston at No. 21, Washington, Illinois, another first-time loser on Saturday, and Arizona State and Georgia tied for No. 24. Texas and Baylor dropped out of the rankings after losing Big 12 games. Reprinted Courtesy of Espn.com

Day!
6 it was proving to be just that. Both teams struggled to move the ball early. Auburn quarterback, Barrett Trotter, started the day with only 33 yards before being replaced by back-up Clint Moseley who gave Auburn some spark on offense. Going into the fourth quarter, Auburn still led 7 - 6 until a 14 yard touchdown run by Onterio McCalebb moved their lead to 14 - 6. The Florida offense struggled all day with their starting quarterback still injured along with one of their key running backs. Offensive struggles mixed with special team woes left the Gators paralyzed and unable to move the ball. Auburn tacked on another field goal and put the final score at 17 - 6 for their fifth victory of the season. Tennessee vs. Florida LSU got off to a slower start than usual against the Volunteers but it wasn’t too long before they would find their groove. With both teams unable to reach the end zone in the first quarter, it looked as if a defensive battle was certain. LSU quickly dispelled that notion when they scored two quick touchdowns to start the second quarter. Trailing 14 - 0, Tennessee put together a drive of their own and cut the Tigers lead in half. LSU added a field goal before halftime and never looked back. LSU quarterback Jaret Lee had 115 yards through the air and two touchdowns and LSU running back Stephen Ware had 80 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. The LSU defense would prove to be too tough for a young Volunteer offense holding them to only one touchdown and snagging two interceptions. LSU won big with the final score 38 - 7.

Florida State vs. Duke Coming off of three straight losses, Florida State was looking for some redemption against the Duke Blue Devils. Florida State quarterback, EJ Manuel led the way for the Noles turning in a solid performance, which had 289 passing yards, two touchdowns and 62 rushing yards. Manuel would be the spark Florida State was looking for to bounce back from a very difficult three week stretch. Florida State was clicking on all cylinders on the offensive side of the ball and the defense played a solid game as well. The Seminoles defense forced two turnovers and held the Blue devils to only 63 yards rushing. Florida State finally jumped back into the winning column turning a final score of 41 – 16.
