Road closures related to the 41st Annual National Shrimp Festival The City of Gulf Shores would like to make all residents and visitors aware of the following road closures related to the 41st Annual National Shrimp Festival.

Traffic/Roadways: •East Gulf Place is now closed to all vehicular traffic •Gulf Place will close to all vehicular traffic beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9.

•Highway 59 will close to all vehicular traffic at W. 1st Ave heading south at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10.

•Access to West Beach will be available through Windmill Ridge Rd or by taking W. 1st Ave to W. 3rd St. •Access eastbound to Orange Beach will be available through the Gulf State Park, Canal Rd or by taking E. 1st Ave to E. 2nd St. •All normal traffic conditions on Highway 59 will resume at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15.

•Gulf Place will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16.

Public Beaches: •All public beaches will remain open throughout the festival.

This Mahi recipe has a bit of island and Asian infusion and pairs well with mild flavored rice. You can also try variations – lemon instead of lime, teriyaki instead of soy, a bit of curry instead of mustard, etc.

Lime-Grilled Mahi-Mahi Steaks Ingredients • ¼ c. fresh lime juice (2 to 3 limes) • 2 t. olive oil • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped • 1 t. soy sauce • 1 t. grated fresh ginger root, optional • 1 t. Dijon-style mustard • 1/4 t. salt • 1/4 t. freshly ground black pepper • 6 mahi-mahi steaks (about 1-inch thick)

Preheat grill or broiler. In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, olive oil, garlic, soy sauce, optional ginger root, mustard, salt, and pepper. Brush the mahi-mahi with about one-third of the dressing and reserve the rest.

Place the mahi-mahi steaks on the grill, and cook to desired temperature, flipping only once. Brush mahi-mahi steaks once again after flipping.
