A World Day of Prayer will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Picton Street, Howick on Friday, March 6 at 10.30am. ‘Rise! Take your Mat and Walk’ is a service prepared by World Day of Prayer Committee, Zimbabwe. The World Day of Prayer – informed prayer and prayerful action is a world-wide movement led by Christian women of many traditions. It is celebrated in services on the first Friday in March each year in over 170 countries throughout the world.

Howick Tramping Club
Meeting on Tuesday, March 10. Club night is 7.30pm on the second Tuesday of each month below Howick Bridge Club, 563 Pakuranga Road. Cover charge $2. Arthur Brewer and Bruce Kerr from the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust will talk about the operations, equipment and funding for the Trust, as well as show some footage of rescue operations in action. Children’s Day Expo
Fellowship Club of Howick
Visit the Children’s Day Expo at St Columba Presbyterian Church from 3.30pm to 7pm. There will be an abundance of food, fun, carnival rides and performances by dance groups. Families from the Howick Ward and Manukau area are all invited. It’s a free event.
The monthly meeting of the Fellowship Club of Howick, (formerly Probus) is at 10am on Friday, March 13 at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Vincent St. Howick; where after the Annual General Meeting to elect a new committee, there will be morning tea, followed by our special guest, Peter Wooderson speaking on the gold mining history and beauty of the Karangahake Gorge. Discover Howick Historical Village Our local Living Museum is about to turn 40. Come along and hear the story of this wonderful gem. Historian Alan La Roche will be speaking at Pakuranga Library on Tuesday, March 3 at 10.30am. All welcome. Tea and coffee served.
Thursdays @ Seven this week Concert goers in Howick get a rare treat this week, with a concert of Horn Vignettes. Anita Austin has recently returned from study at the Queensland Conservatorium where she received her Masters in Music Studies (French horn). Together with pianist Camila de Oliveira she plays music by two of the great composers for the horn, Mozart and Strauss, along with short works by Saint-Saëns, Glière and Glazunov. The concert is at All Saints Church, Howick, 7pm-8pm on Thursday, March 5 and promises to be a fascinating insight into a less commonly heard instrument. Admission is by donation.
