This annual event always draws lots of competitors – often as many as 100 – and plenty of family members in stands, as some very small bodies show their power and might.

Children ages 4 through 12 may compete, said event coordinator Cindy Kill.

The Pedal Pull, divided by age groups, involves a sled hooked to a tractor, with the individual competitors pedaling to move the sled forward. Because it is a sanctioned event, the top three placers within each age division are awarded certificates to compete at the Kansas State Fair’s pedal pull in September. Participants must still be age 12 or younger to participate at the state fair.

The Pedal Pull has been sponsored by Sedgwick County Electric Cooperative since its inception. This will be the 31st edition.
