LIVING FLUX LABS Adaptable test sites

LIVING FLUX LAB IS A PROJECT THAT IS BUILT UPON MELBOURNE MODEL OF AN INNOVATION AND EDUCATIONAL HUB. THE IDEA IS TO CREATE SPACES THAT ARE ADAPTABLE FOR LVING AND FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. USING THE NATURAL PHENOMENON OF THE CREEK FLOODING,AN EDUCATIONAL DRIVER WOULD BE FLOOD RELATED. PROPOSE SPACES ARE DESIGN WITH SPECIFIC FEATURES THAT MAY CATER TO CERTAIN RESEACH CITERIAS AND FUNCTION A PUBLIC SPACE DURING NON TESTING PERIODS.

RETAIN VOLUME OF CREEK

CATER TO DIFFERENT LEVELS

DIFFERENT AREA SPECIFICATION

EROSION PREVENTION

CUSTOMISABLE

MULTIFUNTIONAL

THE USE OF GABIONS AND CONCRETE PAVERS IN THE AREA IS TO REDUCED THE NEED OF DEMOLISION THE SITE TO CREATE NEW LAB SPACES THUS BEING MORE ADAPATBLE THEN THE PERIVOUS CONCRETE CREEK.

NON FLOODING EVENT

FLOODING EVENT PROPOSAL ONE: UPPER SECTION OF THE CREEK HAS BEEN WIDEN TO SLOW THE FLOW OF WATER IN THIS SECTOR. FLOOD RELATED RESEARCH SUCH AS - TOLERANTANCE LEVELS OF PLANT/TREE SPECIES TO THE AMOUNT OF RUBBISH COLLECTED AT LOW FLOW - SEDIMENT DEPOSITION LEVEL AT HIGH FLOW - FLOODING PATTERNS AND FLOOD PREVENTION RESEARCH COMMUNITY/SECONDARY FUNCTION CAN BE USED FOR COMMUNITY USE SUCH AS URBAN FARMING

FLOODING EVENT PROPOSAL TWO: UPPER SECTION OF THE CREEK HAS BEEN WIDEN TO SLOW THE FLOW OF WATER IN THIS SECTOR. FLOOD RELATED RESEARCH SUCH AS - TOLERANTANCE LEVELS OF PLANT/TREE SPECIES (e.g. River Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis), Lightwood (Acacia implexa))TO THE AMOUNT OF RUBBISH COLLECTED AT HIGH FLOW - SEDIMENT DEPOSITION AT LOW FLOW - RATE OF EROSION OF MATERIALS

NON FLOODING EVENT

FLOODING EVENT PROPOSAL THREE: LOWER SECTION OF THE CREEK, DECKING HAVE BEEN CREATE WITH TERRECING RAISED BASINS. PUMPING UP WATER FROM THE CREEK LOW WATER FLOW IS ACHIEVED ABOVE WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE VOLUME OF CREEK BELOW RESEARCH EXAMPLES, - BACTERIA GROWTH MONITERING IN AN URBAN CREEK IN RELATION TO PLANTS RESEARCH - RATE OF INTRODUCTION AND REMOVAL OF POLLUTANTS COMMUNITY/SECONDARY FUNCTION. -WETLAND
