Initial Design Intention It is a common phenomenon that most of the office workers in Hong Kong don’t care too much of their dietary intake everyday, which may causes negative impact on their body health. Our team aim to help to improve the dietary intake of office workers.

P2: Investment Industry, Male, 24 years old. P3: Museum Industry, Male, 27 years old. P4: Event Planning Industry, Male, 28 years old. P5: Advertising Industry, Female, 28 years old.
Probe 1: Food Map Findings 1. Most participants have basic knowledge of gaining muscle. (meat + protein) 2. Most participants think banana is helpful for losing weight, but it is not actually. 3. If participants don’t care about health, most of them will prefer BBQ and cakes. 4. Participants tend to eat much carbohydrate for their daily meal. (spaghetti, rice)
Probe 2: Food Record Findings 1. Participants eat too less vegetables every day. 2. Participants have almost every meal outside home. 3. Participants sometimes skip their breakfast. 4. Sometimes the aiming calorie intake is very different from the real intake.
Probe 3: Snack Record Findings 1. Participants prefer drinking beverages to eating snacks. 2. Generally, participants drink beverages 2-3 times a week (beside the drinks with meals).
Probe 4: Personal Comment Findings Participants are more likely to rate ‘unhealthy’ though the actual intake is closer to ‘normal’.

Participants are willing to take ‘health’ into account when deciding what to eat. Participants grasp some elementary knowledge of nutrition but most of them still lack of sufficient knowledge to help them choosing healthy food. Considering consumption level of our participants, the budget of each meal is enough to eat healthily.
WORKSHOP Activity 1: Role Play To figure out how and why people make meal choices when facing different situations. Activity 2: Game Observation To figure out whether participants are willing to record dietary nutrition intake concerning about the reward provided.
Activity 1: Role Play Roles 4 office workers Scenario In weekday, four colleagues are going to have lunch in the walk street near office. Situation of each participant varies. Task Participants are required to walk around the chosen area and role-play as above. The process will be recorded by the facilitator.
Activity 1: Role Play Findings Q: What will influence people choosing a restaurant? A: Flavor/Time/Environment/Friends’ advices/Distance/Budget Q: What will influence people choosing their food? A: Flavor/Time/Body situation/Budget/Dietary Balance/Hungry or not
Activity 2: Game Observation Participants 4 office workers Task Beads are placed in cups a few meters away from the game place (table). Participants will be asked about choices in different situations provided, they can choose to record the choice or not: -Yes: have to fetch one bead -No: just sit and don’t need to act. After series of questions, participants will each get award made of beads which will be upgraded according to the amount of beads collected.
Activity 2: Game Observation Findings What kind of factor will affect participants to make the records? If the food is attractive. If the food is healthy, cool or exotic. If the situation given is urgent. Reward doesn’t matter. What kind of reward is attractive to you? Coupon of food. None. If I can do the record with friends. Being healthy and slender is the best reward. Do you think it’s easy or difficult to keep a healthy diet? Why? Difficult, It is hard to calculate the calories. It depends on the environment, situation and the degree of the record. For example, it is easier for students to track their own healthy diet as students often eat at canteen; living in Hong Kong may not be easy to keep a healthy diet.
Outcome of Workshop Findings Generally, target people care about their health and more or less willing to take some action to achieve the goal. Physical reward may not attract target people as much as improvement of their own body. Healthier body is the best reward. It is important to make people more convenient to have healthy meal.

Exposition Alex Wong is 24 years old. He is an investment office-worker and has been working for 2 years. Last month, he practiced job-hopping to the current company for higher salaries.
Exposition Because of the long distance from home to the skyscraper he works in, Alex has to spend nearly 1 hour of MTR as commuting time everyday.
Exposition Although the work schedule of the company is from 10am to 6pm with lunch break(1pm-2pm), he always needs to work over time for 1-2 hours to finish daily tasks. Therefore Alex has no time to prepare breakfast at home, and has to have lunch nearby company at lunch break and dinner on his way back home.
Plot Point 1 Last week, underground floor of the skyscraper where Alex works opened after redecoration as a food court, including various restaurants ,several café and bubble milk tea shops.
Plot Point 1 That day at lunch break, Alex had lunch downstairs with colleagues and tried Taipei bubble milk tea. He was impressed by the delicious fried dumplings he ordered and the fabulous taste of the bubble tea.
Plot Point 1 In the evening after work, he went directly to the food court without hesitation and enjoyed beef rice as dinner, as well as another cup of bubble tea. Alex loves this place, not only the food here, but also the bubble milk tea.
Rising Action The food court, without doubt, has become Alex’s first choice for lunch and dinner. He applies for a membership card and enjoys most of his workday meals here.
Rising Action Alex hardly ever skips meals for he knows the harm of it. As for the choices for meal, he just choose as he prefers without much consideration, of course a cup of milk tea is necessary.
Plot Point 2 After about six months, however, Alex is not feeling well: beer belly, increasing weight, and less energetic.
Plot Point 2 He has to go the hospital for help. After diagnosis doctor reminds him of his bad dietary intake, especially the imbalance nutrition intake and too much milk tea.
Resolution Alex realizes the challenge he is facing: With the limitation of work schedule, it is the lack of nutrition knowledge that resulted in his bad eating habits and the symptoms of his body. So he made up his mind to change from then on. It is not an easy task to master nutrition knowledge by himself. One day Alex got help accidentally and changes took place.

Resolution After this disaster, Alex decides to adjust his dietary habit. But he doesn’t know how to start as he only has basic knowledge about healthy diet. So he tries to find some related apps. Then, he downloads the app called “PROtato”.
Resolution In this APP, firstly users have to type their own body condition like weight, height, gender. And location of home and office. If users have goals like losing weight. They can type in as well.
Resolution Alex decides to have the third option as his lunch. So he clicks the restaurant suggestion button and finds a popular curry restaurant nearby. He is happy for finding this app as it is easy to follow. He doesn’t need to analyze food he choose. He just need to find foods the app suggested. So Alex continually follow what the app suggested to eat for a period of time.
Resolution The other pros he found is that this app not only make him healthy but also help him and his colleagues decide where to eat. As Alex and his colleagues always have to discuss where to have lunch for at least 10 mins.
Resolution Now they just follow the app and the app will recommend different food each day as eating diverse food is also one of the healthy tips.
Resolution The other part of the app is healthy knowledge quiz. In the beginning Alex just got half of the score. So he was delivered to primary level. Based on this score, the food suggestion become very specific and the diversity is limited.
Resolution After a month, Alex’s level has become higher. He found that the meal suggestion is not that specific now. It is his latest suggestion for dinner: □1. One dish of fish, a bowl of rice, a dish of vegetable, one portion of fruit. Now as Alex has more knowledge about nutrition, he just need some brief advices to choose correct food. It gives him more freedom to choose his meals.
Denouement Through the efforts he made, Alex has gained more specific knowledge of nutrition and could come up with suitable dietary choices for his body.
Denouement With healthy nutrition intake everyday for months, Alex found himself full of beans and energetic to work. Beer belly disappears and his body becomes more fit. He is grateful to the help he received and willing to share it to more people in the same situation.
