Dear dolly friends and enthusiasts, Welcome to the very first issue of Tiny Feet, dedicated to dolls and miniatures! The first of hopefully many others to come! You have no idea how much fun this was from planning the magazine, receiving the images from all the sweet contributors, to put it all together and now to finally have it out for everyone to enjoy! We would like to dedicate the magazine first of all to all the ones who kindly dedicated their time to produce amazing images and content, it wouldn’t be possible without you amazing girls! Second to everyone who has been waiting for something like this to come around, for us to be able to have something about dolls that comes from actual dolly lovers and collectors! And third to all of you now reading, looking at the images and being taken on a journey of magic! The First Issue was put together with one main topic “Soft and Pastel Colors� all of us worked around this to build our own enchanted world of dolls and miniatures. The Blythes love to play in the Spring Sunshine in their pastel dresses. They play together and sometimes, alone. The Rocky Mountain Girls love to play outside, so we most often see them there. However, there are times that they love to hang out on a glassed-in porch of an old old house, where they watch the world go by.

Melissa is best known around the dolly world as Super Junk, she makes, among other treasures, some of the cutest vintage inspired dolls around. The last ones being the little Spring Felfs, called like this because they are little elfs made out of felt. She told us a little about these colored cuties. “I was delighted to find new flannels the last time I went fabric shopping. Wee Woodland Mushrooms and Winter Whites immediately inspired this little collection of funny pixie kneehuggers. Since easter is still fresh in my memory, some sleeping felf bunnies just seemed natural. I learned a lot from the batch I made for my christmas display, so these fuzzy elves are even better. Patterned after vintage japanese pixies, their little bodies flop into poses quite easily. I found a particularly ratty chrismas kneehugger last season with the most adorable little face, so I let that be my inspiration for the makeup.” Want to know where to find these and other of Melissa’s creations? Tiny Feet: Please tell us a bit about yourself and where you come from. Hello! I'm a 27 year old stay at home mom who loves to crochet, knit and work on Blythe's! I am currently located in Mesa, Arizona and have lived here since 1991. TF: Could you describe the kind of work you do? I'm addicted to making amigurumi toys! I've only been crocheting since October and quickly went to making my own pattern designs. Other than plush making I also like to customize Blythe dolls and have been off and on in the Blythe hobby for 2 years. I recenly took a break and have been back in the swing of things since! TF: Where does your inspiration come from? Almost all of my inspiration comes from either street graffiti or a few of my favorite artist. Some of my all time favorite's are Jeff Soto, Takashi Murakami, Yoko D'Holbachie and Yoshitomo Nara. For my Blythe customizing, I get a lot of my inspiration from other customizers such as Erica Fustero and Tiina, just Tiina, as well as artists like Mark Ryden. TF: What colors and materials do you see yourself working with the most and why? Color is a big factor in my plush toys and a lot of my colors are pulled from street graffiti pictures. I love to work with color when crocheting! Some of my favorite materials to use with my plush are sequins and sock yarn. I'm a huge sock yarn hoarder! As for Blythe customizing, my favorite tools would have to be my carving knife, pastels and airbrush paint. |

TF: When did you start collecting dolls? What was your fist one and how many do you have now? I have always been drawn to dolls in general and was a Barbie fanatic when I was very young. It wasn't until 2 years ago I got into Blythe dolls and became quickly hooked. My first Blythe was a Frosty Frock that I had customized by Frankie Darling. I wish I kept her, but over the past 2 years many dolls have come and gone. I currently have three Blythe's and three more on the way, as well as a Lino doll. TF: Do you think your love for dolls influences your creations? I would have to say that my plush work and dolls are fairly separate. Although, I can see some influence merging into some plush that I make. I plan to make even smaller plush toys just for dolls very soon, still under the works! TF: What do you like most about working with crochet? With crochet, I feel like I can do anything I want. It's easy to form the shapes I want and bring my sketches to life... or in plush form. I've tried to make plush with knitting and I just can't get the same look with crochet. TF: Tell us about your plush monsters, they'r adorable! My plush monsters started out as little creatures in my head, then made their way onto paper. After I taught myself to crochet I immediately started working on monsters and haven't stopped since. All of my monsters are different and I hate to repeat a twin. Most of them come with a helmet to add an extra cuteness! |

TF: You also make custom Blythe dolls, how did that start? I started customizing Blythe pretty quickly once I got into the hobby. I think my second Blythe was a Cappuccino Chat and I cusotmized her right away. Over the time, I got more comfortable with customizing and began to work on dolls of others. After about a year I ventured into Blythe reroots and began rerooting them, one of my favorite things to do now.
TF: What kind of work do you make on them? Mainly I just work on the faces and rerooting. I start with sanding them clean, then reapplying a new faceup with nose and lip carving. The customers will usually give me an idea of what they like or a color palette to work with. For their hair, I remove all of their stock hair and reroot it with nylon or saran. | Customizing 76 them truely makes them one of a kind and more personal to their owners.

HOW TO Jess was kind to give us a pattern for how to crochet a Mini Coffee Mug! If you know your way around crochet give it a go and make a tiny coffee mug for your doll or a small pair of earings for yourself.
Round 2: single crochet all around (you will still have 12 stitiches) *repeat this round once more* With your yarn still attached, tightly chain 7, leave a long tail and pull tight.
WHAT YOU NEED: Size C Hook White Fingering Weight Yarn Brown Wool or Fuzzed up Brown Yarn Darning Needle
With a darning needle, thread the tail on to the needle and sew the end of the chain you made to the bottom side of the cup. This will form your handle. Knot it inside the cup to secure it down and trim tail, you can shove all the ends inside the cup as Here’s how it goes: Magic Loop 6 stitches OR chain 2 well. and form a loop, then work 6 single With a pinch of brown wool or fuzzed crochet stitches into the loop Round 1: work 2 single crochet up brown yarn, roll it into a small ball stitches in each stitch (you will have and then shove it into the cup. Ta da! Your done, now you can serve a hot 12 stitches now) cup of coffee to your guests! ** For personal or gift use only, please don’t resell items made from this pattern :) **
