OUR SCHOOL
The International School Bangalore is located on a 140-acre campus in Dommasandra, Sarjapur of Bangalore, in Southern India. TISB was founded in 2000 by the school’s Chairman, Dr K P Gopalkrishna, an eminent leader in education, and is one of India’s most reputable, independent, selective, international boarding and day schools. ACCOMMODATION
Allocation of accommodation
The on-campus accommodation available is as follows:

Allocation of accommodation is according to the following criteria:
Role within the school
The size of the immediate family unit; accommodation is not allocated to allow extended family or parents to stay
When children have grown up and left TISB, it should be expected that a family will be asked to downsize and allow other colleagues to benefit from bigger accommodation and more space
Accommodation should not be viewed as an entitlement and the school has the right to make decisions regarding the allocation of staff accommodation
Because accommodation is a limited, on-campus staff should be sensitive to this
Movement between accommodations will be kept a minimum but staff may be asked to move from time-to-time
We may require some staff to share accommodation as it should not be assumed single rooms will be allocated to everyone
The school will make appropriate decisions regarding the allocation or change of allocation of accommodation and will endeavour to give the member of staff as much notice as possible.
Support with moving in and off campus
The school can provide some manpower, only after school hours, for shifting/loading/unloading personal goods from the gardening staff The charge will be Rs 1000/individual/day

uidelines to Personalising your Apartment
Residents are responsible for looking after the furniture and appliances provided by the school Residents are allowed to personalise their apartments with pictures etc, however, if it is deemed necessary to make repairs once a resident vacates, then the cost will be the responsibility of the resident.
No satellite dishes, wires or aerials should be erected on the building
Electricity
Residents are provided free electricity up to 100 units, beyond which additional consumption will be charged at the end of the month Charges are variable and taken from the time of billing
Tube light sets will be fixed on the walls. Bulbs will be fixed onto the holders in the absence of tube lights
Ceiling fans are provided in each room except the kitchen
No electrical modifications should be undertaken in the apartment
One wall-mounted geyser is provided in each bathroom
Repairs of any electrical appliances will be carried out by the Estates Department. Where repairs involve cost to TISB, the same will be billed to the occupants Any other electronic or electrical appliance belonging to the staff member is not the responsibility of the Estates Department
Please turn off lights when not in use to conserve energy
Water
Residents are provided with a water purifier for which they are not charged
Water consumption should be carried out mindfully and without wastage
No plumbing modifications are to be undertaken in the apartment
Regular cleaning of water purifiers should be carried out by residence.
Any maintenance work pertaining to plumbing including fittings provided by the school will be carried out by the Estate Department. Where repairs involve cost to TISB, the same will be billed to the occupants
The sewage system is designed to handle all normal drainage and human waste Please do not flush sanitary napkins, tampons, plastic or hair down the toilet
Please ensure taps are turned off and not left dripping to conserve water
Furniture
When moving into school accommodation an inventory of furniture that the school can provide is issued If you do not wish to have certain items (because you have your own) then please inform Estates immediately so that items can be removed. Likewise, if additional items are required then please request from Estates.
Because of school commitments, it cannot be assumed that Estates staff will be available to help you move items in, so please make your own arrangements.
Once you have moved into school accommodation, if there are items of school furniture you do not require, please inform Estates who will remove the items.
The inventory for the accommodation must reflect any changes (additions or removal) of school
Chairs and other furniture are not designed for outdoor use and should not be put on porches or outside.
If furniture is broken this must be reported immediately to Estates and on-campus staff may be charged for any damage which is not ordinary wear and tear. It is expected that the furniture will be handed back in the original condition
Keys
You will be provided with a key to the main door of your apartment, to the bedrooms and the wardrobes If keys are lost, then residents will need to replace them and pay any costs.
Maintenance Work
If maintenance work is required in the apartment, please email maintenance@tisb ac in who will respond the same day on a priority basis If this is not possible, staff will be informed of the reasons for any delay, why and when you can expect a full response. Kindly bear with us if there is a delay. Some maintenance work is chargeable to the member of staff also consumables, such as light bulbs, are also chargeable or the responsibility of the member of staff to replace. If maintenance works are needed to be done in your accommodation we will try and ensure you are there to supervise, otherwise, a member of the estates staff will supervise in your absence
Home Refuse
It is not acceptable to dispose of any rubbish over the balcony. The back of the accommodation blocks should be clear of any rubbish
TISB’s campus is environmentally friendly and a place to be proud of. To that end every member of the community should strive to look after it Use the correct bin to throw away litter: Blue for Dry Waste, Green for Wet Waste, Red for E-waste
Conserve water where possible
Conserve energy where possible by turning off lights and fans when not required
Before Departing for a Trip
Please make sure the gas and all electrical items are switched off and ensure the apartment is secure with windows shut, doors locked, lights and taps turned off etc
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE FROM ACCOMMODATION
Arrival Procedures
Prior to arrival on campus HR will confirm the date of your arrival and the procedures.
You will be accepting your allocated Staff Quarter in the condition it has been presented to you
There is an inventory for all Staff Quarters which will need to be confirmed by you and the Estates Department
Photographs and a handover report of its condition will be given to you in order that you will understand the condition TISB expects for its return.
You will be signing for an inventory of items; this will stay on your staff file until the end of your contract
You will have 3 days to notify the Estates Office of any damages that you have noticed that have not been noted on the handover report
HR will confirm the date of departure from your accommodation.
Prior to departure your Staff Quarter must be cleaned as per the photographs given to you All areas must be thoroughly cleaned and ready for use, in particularly the kitchen and bathrooms.
The Staff Quarter will be inspected and the inventory will be checked by the Estate Department
All TISB provided items, as listed in the inventory, are to be in place and serviceable.
TISB retains the right at all times to charge departing staff for all damages, lost items and unclean quarters. An invoice will be prepared, and the final amount will be deducted from your final salary
POWER
The school has 24 hour power supply with generator backup There can be power cuts, but the power will be restored within 8 to 10 seconds.
VISITORS ON SITE
Residents need to complete the Guest Invitation Form available in the Staff Portal under Miscellaneous Forms at least 4 working days prior to the arrival of their guest
Visitors on campus must always wear the visitors tag when not in the apartment
Guests should be as unobtrusive as possible during the school day and they should follow the campus regulations
Residents are fully responsible for their guests at all times
Guests can eat in the Cafeteria but staff will be charged for these meals from their salary Guests should sign in the register in the cafeteria
The school is unable to provide additional mattresses and bedding for guests
WATER CONSERVATION
TISB is an environmentally friendly campus The onsite Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is used to water the campus grounds by treating the wastewater from the BIH, GIH, Staff Quarters, Cafeteria, Academic Block and the Auditorium Solar water heaters are used to heat the water for students’ showers
The school has numerous rainwater-harvesting pits fitted in catchment areas around the campus The pits stop the rainwater from flowing away, and the caught water is directed to fill the groundwater level You will see the catchments near the staff quarters, adjacent to the walkway, covered by trees.
Bore wells are the only source of water for the campus and therefore water conservation is a high priority for the school and your co-operation is vital
MEDICAL CENTER
It is recommended that each resident and their family have their own first aid kit with common OTC medication, as the Medical Center cannot be used a Pharmacy However, if you or a member of your family become unwell or injured, you should report to the Medical Center where advice, treatment and support will be offered. Trips and appointments to the local hospital must be organized by the staff member as the school cannot take responsibility for this
During holiday time there is limited, or at times no medical service and staff need to be responsible for their own medical care.

BOARDING DUTIES FOR TEACHING STAFF
LIVING ON SITE
All residential staff, both part-time or fulltime, Primary Years or Senior School, are expected to proactively participate in the boarding community. Boarding duties will be assigned by the Head of Boarding.
A significant part of the commitment to boarding is to carry out boarding duties as detailed below:
Every on-campus staff (Primary, Secondary & Admin) will be given along day,ashort day(two evenings in the week) andweekend dutiesin boarding.
Weekday Duties
Long Day
First Golden Time (5:25- 6:40 pm)
Second Golden Time (6.30 - 7.45 pm)
Short Day
Short day means the staff member have one of these duties:
First Golden Time (5.25 pm - 6:40 pm)
CAS trip
Weekday Duties – ‘Golden Time’
It is the staff duty to:
Maintain order and disciplineconducive to study, dealing with any instances immediately and in a mature manner,
Ensure that students are engaged in productive academic work,
Ensure that attendance is taken promptly, and any information of absentees are reported to the House Staff on duty,
Handle lateness by addressing it with the concerned student. Repeat offenders should be reported to the House Staff on duty,
Ensure timings and rules of Golden Time are adhered to consistently, Ensure Golden Time is used for quiet study without any discussions, Be on time for duty and ensure that all the students have left the room/area so that at no time any student is left unsupervised
If in doubt, regarding rules, permissions and policies, to check with the House Staff on duty
Weekend Duty
t is an expectation to work a number of Saturdays and Sundays in a school year, which usually amount to 1 in 3 weekends
The duties are distributed, considering many factors such as secondary school working Saturdays, school events, department events, Parent-Teacher Conferences, etc.
Weekend duties might be only on a Saturday, only on a Sunday or on both Saturday and Sunday Duties will be assigned for 7 hours a day.
Expectations during weekend duties
Please be on time for duty at the designated area.
Supervise student activity according to the published weekly schedule.
Ensure negative behaviour is dealt with instantly and repeat offenders are reported to the Deputy Head of House / Head of House.
Use this time to get to know students and build relationships
Ensure students are not isolated or bullied.
Be alert and supervise proactively to ensure nothing unwarranted takes place. Ensure students follow the timings as per the prescribed weekly schedule
Other points:
A teacher can, by mutual agreement with another staff, swap his or her duties if they have personal commitments which clash with duties
If a swap cannot be arranged, theHead of Boarding may be informed in advance and a later date may be agreed upon to make up for the missed duty
If a teacher is on leave during the school day,he/she does not need to do duty on that day But, a weekend
If an on-campus staff member cannot report for weekend duties, then the Head of Boarding must be intimated, and a swap must be arranged
MEALTIMES & EXTRA FOOD
Staff will be provided with meals in the cafeteria, where there is a buffet system offering Indian and Continental choices There is a three-weekly rotation of Menus which can be found on the board outside the cafeteria, and a different menu will be provided during holidays

Meals for guests are served available in the cafeteria only and staff will be charged from their salary
Residents can buy milk, eggs and bread from the cafeteria
Food cannot be served to residents in their apartments, unless there is a health-related problem
Staff members and staff children who attend TISB only can have free meals in the dining hall Non-working spouses and children who do not attend TISB are charged.
Staff members are not allowed to take food, crockery or cutlery from the cafeteria to their apartments
Food provided from outside should not be eaten in the cafeteria.

Birthday parties and special events
At times you may wish to host a small celebration such as a birthday, your child’s birthday or wedding anniversary with members of the on-campus community. Permission is needed for this from the Operations Manager Basil will provide a menu and food items can be selected and charged to you directly (deducted from your salary). The event should not include music, should be contained to the EDR (food should not be taken out as per the school rules), should not interfere with usual mealtimes and the duration should not exceed 1.5 hours. These events can only involve members of the on-campus community and should be held in the EDR
Street Food Café
In addition to the structured mealtimes, boarders can buy Street Food from our on-site vendor between 4 10 - 5.00 pm. The charges for Street Food will be added to the pocket money account.
Tuck Shop
The Tuck Shop is open from 4 00-4 45 pm every day and stocks snacks and other essential items The charges for Tuck Shop will be added to the pocket money account
Supermarket
The nearest supermarket is called All Seasons, in walkable distance in Dommasandra and it has all the basic items at a reasonable price TISB has an All-Seasons WhatsApp group where you can place your order, pay online and they will deliver to the school gate. There are other more ‘western’ but more expensive supermarkets in shopping malls. Nearest malls are Nexus Whitefield, Brookfield mall & Market Square mall (all of these about 30 minutes away from the campus)
GENERAL INFORMATION
Alcohol
Residents are allowed to drink alcohol in their apartments; however, you should be mindful of the fact that you are living on a school site and therefore alcohol should be consumed discretely, responsibly and in moderation
Domestic Help
Please inform the Estates Department if you would like to employ any domestic help Helpers employed from outside the campus must have a security check done through the Estates Department and be double vaccinated
Emergency Evacuation
Planned fire evacuation procedures are practiced throughout the year and details can be found in the Fire Evacuation Guidelines document in the Parent Portal.
Gas for Hob and Water Filter
It is the responsibility of the resident to manage their domestic gas cylinder and gas hob requirements and Water Filter. Gas Cylinders may be requested from BASIL until receipt of a refill and these will be issued based on availability/conditions.
Laundry
The school laundry facilities can be used by residents Clothes should be given to the Laundry on a Friday, normally bags of laundry can be left outside in the mornings before 8.00am. Laundry will be returned washed, dried and ironed on a Monday and can be collected during the day from 9 00 am-4 00 pm
Residents will be charged as per designated rates which will be taken from staff salary
Monthly Deductions
Electricity charges as per the current government rates
Telephone charges as per the current government rates, if applicable
Cafeteria charges for guests or non-working spouse
Laundry charges based on your usage
Personal courier charges
WiFi charges for any items not including mobile phone

Residents should pay their maid or other domestic help directly. Taxis should be paid for directly
Nuisance and Noise Disputes
If a neighbour is causing a nuisance, please try to resolve the problem between yourselves as this is usually the quickest and best way to sort things out If the problem continues, you should contact HR hrasst@tisb.ac.in. We will ask you to keep a record over a period of time and then speak to both parties in order to reach an agreement. Solutions to disputes will usually involve compromise on both sides.
Please be respectful of your neighbours, remember, you may be causing a disturbance to your neighbour without even realising it Noise should be kept to a reasonable level, especially late at night and early in the morning.
Hired Vehicles & Parking management
Cabs are permitted to enter the campus with staff. Security staff will accompany the cabs from Main gate to their residence/drop location and return Passenger Auto Rickshaws are not permitted to enter the campus due to safety and security hazards.
Visitor’s vehicles are to be parked in the car parking area near the Exit Gate only Parking spaces are created in different locations inside the campus for Resident staff only. Please park considerately and within the markings to avoid issues as there is only limited parking available Vehicles should not be parked on grass verges or in reserved areas. Major vehicle repairs should not be carried out on site.
Pets
Residents are not allowed to keep pets on campus.
Post and Deliveries
Deliveries such as Amazon will be kept in the photocopying room by reception and is open from 8:00 AM –8:00 PM. The school cannot take responsibility for any parcels, packages or letters which are delivered to individuals.
Racial and Other Harassment
We are committed to equal opportunities and will not tolerate harassment of any kind from residents, their families or visitors. Appropriate action will be taken to evict any resident found to be causing or allowing harassment
If you have be subjected to any kind of harassment, whether verbal or physical, please contact HR hrasst@tisb ac in and the matter will be investigated
School Facilities
Residents may use the school facilities such as Gym and Swimming Pool (06 00–07 00 am and 5 00– 8 00 pm) during the specified hours, and not during school working hours. It is not advisable to swim if there is thunder and lightning

COVID requirements and restrictions
As part of being a resident member of staff it is important to submit your vaccination certificates to HR Currently there are no restrictions, however, it is important to abide by any rules put in place as they are there to either protect the boarders or other members of the community.
