Track & Field and Cross Country News spring/2015 INDOOR WRAPͳUP ’m always amazed when we get to March and the clocks move forward. The year seems to move so quickly. It seems like a couple of weeks ago that we were welcoming the class of 2018 onto campus and prepping for the cross country season. The reality is, that we are already done with the indoor season! Unreal.

Our fundraising is progressing well thus far. Our goal this year is to increase not only the total amount of money raised, but to increase our total number of donors to the program. Last year we had 17% participation in our annual giving. We have over 1700 alums in our database, there is no telling how successful we can be if more of you participate.

2014 – 15 indoors proved incredibly exciting and encouraging. The record books continue to be rewritten, and the top 15 and top 10 lists are looking a good deal different than they did at the beginning of the year. Most exciting were new school records by Karleh Wilson ’16 in the shot put (48’0.5), Mackenzie Mathews ’16 in the 60 hurdles (8.77) and Marc-Andre Alexandre ’17 in the 400m (46.83). We had a Heps Champion DMR on the Women’s side (Emily Waligurski ’17, Emily Cable’15, Shannon McDonnell ’16, Kira Garry ’15) and a Heps Champion in the 400m (Alexandre ’17). Finally Garry and Alexandre both won IC4A/ECAC championships to close out the season. We are truly building for an exciting future for both teams.

I am very excited about the season to come and the direction in which we are headed!

Fully updated lists can be found online on our Track and Field page at www.yalebulldogs.com. I’ve also included a list of our All-Ivy and All-East performers for the indoor year. You’ll note that the list of new performances is lengthy!

The outdoor year looks to be as exciting as the indoor season was! This summer we renew the world’s oldest international athletic competition, as we head across the pond for our biennial dual with Oxford and Cambridge. I will include a full itinerary for all alums and friends of Yale Track and Field as soon as we have worked out the final details of our trip. To summarize briefly, we will be overseas from June 16th – 30th, and the YH – OC meet will take place on June 29th at Iffley Road in Oxford. The Yale Vs Harvard “qualifying” meet will take place at Harvard on April 11th.

Also, if it’s not on your calendar yet, I would encourage you to attend our annual Yale Track and Field and Cross Country Association Dinner on March 27th 2015 at 6:00PM at the Yale Club in New York City. This year we honor longtime Men’s Coach Steve Bartold and the Senior Class of 2015. It’s always a great evening of camaraderie and memories of Yale Track and Field. You can sign up online at the link on our page at www.yalebulldogs.com. Before all of that, and more immediately the team is in the sunny and warm (we hope) climes of San Diego California for our annual spring training trip. We will be training and competing at Point Loma Nazarene University from March 15th – 21st. Your generous donations allow our current Bulldogs to continue to take these valuable and memorable trips each spring. We all are in need of some sunshine after what has been an incredibly rough February and early March!

I hope to see many of you during the outdoor season. “Shoe”
