BRIEF 02: Eureka Editorial
BRIEF To produce a range of cover and editorial illustrations for the Times’ science supplement, Eureka. You will also need to provide a range of double page spreads that would accompany the cover visuals. Eureka tends to highlight the importance of science in contemporary society, how could you promote this within the restrictions set?
Background/Considerations Eureka is reknown for it’s striking contemporary design and visuals, how will you accomplish this? The supplement tends to deal with information heavy stories focused on obscure and often complex ideas that need to be explained well with both text and image, how will you accomodate this? The supplement tends to favour bold, desaturated imagery with vector illustrations coupled with photographs, what sort of visual approach will direct the brief? How will you promote the importance of the subject matter?
Mandatory Requirements Must adhere to Eureka’s design specifications. Must use fonts nearest to or to the exact specifications used within the existing publication. Must cover at least 5 themes/subjects that would interest the audience.
