Bananas are widely used as food due to their restorative properties and Banana Peels are also used as an offensive weapon in sports competitions such as the Mario Kart series.
This is the most commonly used melee weapon in sandbox games like GTA it has detatched itself from its true purpose: playing baseball.
In general terms, the Boomerang can be used for both combat and puzzle solving. It is useful to stun enemies, but a single hit will kill weaker enemies. Although is used for solving puzzles or retrieving items.
