Once again please enjoy your visit to our club and we hope to welcome you back on a more regular basis in the near future
The David Wilson Homes Gloucestershire County Football League again picked up an award in the FA’s Respect program receiving the bronze award to make it three awards in four years. Once again were looking to improve Respect throughout the League and again the Dave Herbert Sportsmanship Cup will offer the chance of prize money of over £1,750. Clubs will need to stay under the 45 point total as they will lose 1 point for a caution and 3 points for a red card. This season will also see that any yellow cards for dissent will lose 2 points and red cards for dissent will attract the loss of five points. Last season nine clubs stayed under the 45 point total, three more than the previous season with the winners being Rockleaze Rangers who picked up £400 after they picked up just 23 yellow cards in 36 matches and not a single red card. Referees will be marking clubs on four various accepts of the game:1. Players Behavior 2. Manager / Coach Behavior 3. Spectators Behavior 4. Effectiveness of the Captain controlling Players. This saw clubs being rewarded over a five match total score with a reduction in points if clubs picked up yellow and red cards for language. Prize money will again be on offer for this scheme as the league looks further into reducing dissent. In an effort to improve respect referees will also be asked to mark technical areas were managers, substitutes will come under scrutiny in their behaviour. At the end of season the total marks from referees saw Longlevens scoop the first prize and the best disciplined club award went to Rockleaze Rangers who picked up just one caution for dissent over the entire season. With over £2,000 ploughed into the Respect program those words or actions can now be so costly, think first as your actions will cost your club money.

Kingswood - 21st September 2013
It is understood that football has been played in Thornbury from around 1898 and formerly known as Thornbury Sports which was the amalgamation of two teams within the town, the club as it is known today “Thornbury Town FC” originated in the early 1970’s. Mundy Fields has been the home of the club since the end of World War Two although changing facilities were in the Exchange Hotel, which is now The Knot of Rope a long-standing sponsor of the club. Early records show club honours such as the: 1949-50 - District League Division 3 1956-57 - Premier Combination 1965-66 – District League Division 2 Thornbury Sports were founder members of the Gloucestershire County League and spectator figures in excess of 500 were regularly recorded. In 1971 the club finished third in the Gloucestershire County League and was accepted into the Western League, however, due to difficulties in bringing the facilities up to required standards were unable to take the next step up. 1976/77 season saw relegation back to the Bristol Premier Combination. The following 20+ years saw Thornbury Town strive to regain their status in the Gloucestershire County League however never really threatening to take the Premier Combination title and thus ensuring promotion. The only success during these lean years was reaching the final of the GFA Senior Amateur Cup unfortunately on both occasions loser’s medals were received. In the late 90s, the Club maintained its strong focus on developing local talent and this eventually bore fruit in 1999 when the final of the

CLUB HISTORY
Stroud Charity Cup was reached, losing narrowly to Dursley Town. 2001-02 season saw the management team of Dave Wiffill and Steve Burbage take the reins, which brought instant success winning the Bristol Premier Combination title by 13 points and a return to the Gloucestershire County League. This followed a run of thirteen consecutive league wins a club record, which still stands to this day. In preparation for the return to County League football the summer of 2002 saw a lot of hard work undertaken on the Mundy facilities with the building of dug-outs, £16k spent on improved drainage and revamping of the dressing rooms. All this work appeared to have been worth while with the club establishing itself back in the Gloucestershire County League with a creditable 7th league position for the next three seasons. Silverware did however come our way during this period following a penalty shootout over Taverners. The 2003-04 season, also saw the formation of an Under-18’s side in order to maintain Youth development within the club. Following a couple of indifferent seasons when relegation threatened a new management committee and first team management team were appointed. Dave Lippiatt took over as first team manager. With an initial three year strategy, which was extended to four, success was achieved during the 2009-10 season when after a tremendous winning run of ten league games, the Surridge Gloucestershire County League title was won for the first time in club history. 2010 also saw the milestone achievement of the long awaited coming together of the two local football clubs “Thornbury Town FC” and “Thornbury Falcons FC” now, under one club management

umbrella of Thornbury Town FC without losing the heritage and identity of Thornbury Falcons. This continues to further enhance the long term
appointment of Bill Bond as 1st team manager with immediate effect. Bill, who was assistant to Roy Irwin until his recent departure, has a lot
development within the local community for junior, youth and senior football. In the 2010-11 season the final of the Les James Cup Final was reached, which resulted in a penalty shoot-out disappointment against Henbury Town. At the end of this successful season Dave Lippiatt and Carl Derosa stepped down and a season of retrenching followed in 2011-12. We are now however very pleased to announce the
of contacts and knowledge of the local football scene and joined the club three seasons ago as their Gloucester County League U18’s manager. Malcolm Carr will continue to assist Bill as Physiotherapist and they are both wished every success by the clubs, players, committee and supporters as they look to steer the team away from the lower end of the current league table.

Ian Evans, “Evo” - Beginning his 9th season in charge of Kingswood first team. Guided side to an 11th place finish last term whilst also gaining highest points tally since joining the league.
Gavin Dibden, “Gavlar” - Top goalscorer during 12/13 campaign. Central midfielder who seems to have kept the cake off this Summer. Always gives everything.
Paul Eldridge, “Eldo” - Assistant manager. Able to play at either centre half or centre midfield. Now the teams senior figure of the side. Demands the best from everyone.
Frank Hitchings, “Funtime” - Seems to have discovered Gavin’s summer eating haunts and appetite.
Chris Fox, “Foxy” - County League’s best keeper by far, superb shot stopper. Most consistant player over last 4 seasons and continues to play through injuries. Joe Compton, “Arkwright” - A known fan of a continental sausage or two. Best seen selling cheese, olives and pies at 17 Long Street, Wotton Under Edge. Has also been known to play the odd game of football now and then. Stu Rae, “Sheldon” - Centre half, never backs out of a challenge and always pushes body to breaking point. Often leaves the field of play with parts hanging off. Adam Eldridge, “Bo” - Right or left sided defender. Continues to compete with Frank for his share of the voices. Paul Bleaken, “Billy” - Going into his season. Has now completed 368 games for the Kings. Can play left wing or centre midfield. Never a dull moment with some of the stuff he comes out. Ryan Mudd, “Muddy” - Bagged 10 goals last term from the right wing, and also made the transition to lone striker in latter part of the season putting in some cracking performances.
