m Fro Ed... the Firstly, please note that because the great majority of our distribution and collection points are currently closed during the lockdown, this edition is online only and unfortunately will not be printed. Therefore please share the link with your family and friends so that readers do not miss out. Well, who would have thought it… what a truly sad and depressing few weeks this has been, and I fear it will continue to be for many more weeks/months to come. Firstly, I would like to send out my heartfelt thoughts to anyone who has been affected by — or knows anyone who has contracted — this nasty COVID-19 virus. I hope that everyone stays as safe as they can during these trying and difficult times. Of course, we have all been affected in some way, shape or form but mainly, for most of us, hopefully it will ‘just’ be in a financial way. I say ‘just’, because our health is the most important thing in this life after all. We may well continue to be affected financially for some months to come, but that won’t mean anything if we do not stay healthy. The most valuable thing we can do is to follow the Government’s guidelines and have faith that they are doing the correct thing for all of us. As long as we stay healthy and help each other where we can, we will see this dreadful thing through — and I have no doubt that there will be many, many unsung heroes who go above and beyond in order to save lives.

Strange News days into lockdown and well, I am going stir crazy, kids also. It’s just such a weird feeling — I know full well I don’t REALLY need to go out for anything, but because I’ve been told not to, I feel trapped and want to go out; that’s just human nature I guess. So far I have resisted and in fact in 14 days, I have been to the bins twice and Mercadona once. (*Cue to pat self on back*!) Usually, I can hear the traffic racing by from the motorway, but today I can hear just the tweeting of the birds and the dripping of the rain; there is an emptiness in the air and a flyby police helicopter every now and then, checking that people are adhering to the strict rules of not leaving the house unless it’s strictly necessary. These are very drastic, severe measures that you usually hear about on the news around the world, but I for one never thought we would be part of that world news. So, what can we do to help and amuse ourselves, especially as now we know we are in lockdown until at least 12th April? So, take a look at page 19 for some ideas. During the past two weeks I have tried to contact as many clients as possible to explain our intentions for the April edition. As I said at the beginning, it will be online only, so please share the page with your family and friends so that we can reach as many of our readers and the local expat community as possible. We hope to be back on the streets where we belong again soon. In the event that some places are allowed to open after 14th April, please do check with the establishments individually before making a trip to visit them. There is one ray of ‘hope’ though …. apparently, following the huge decrease in the numbers of cars etc on the roads in Europe, the level of harmful CO2 in the air has gone down dramatically ….. however there are NO reported instances of pigs and cows farting any less than they did before, so they are clearly not the main culprits! Stay safe everyone!

Press call A high proportion of criminals who appear at court do all they can to avoid press photographers — but not Elis Tarling. The out-of-work mechanic, 21, appeared in court after he was caught carrying a knuckleduster at a retail park in Bristol. But it wasn’t his offensive weapon that got people’s attention – it was his behaviour for the cameras as he left the city’s magistrates’ court. He seemed ready for his 15 minutes of fame, adopting an array of poses, pouting and smiling for the camera. Donning a pair of blue jeans, and sporting a black t-shirt and North Face jacket, he turned the walk of shame into his own personal catwalk. Henna horror An American holidaymaker was left feeling ‘claustrophobic’ in her own skin after a holiday henna tattoo left her with foot-long horror burns. Amanda Drish-Adolf’s intricate design went horribly wrong while visiting Thailand during a pre-children ‘bucket list’ trip with husband Nick Adolf last month. Violinist Amanda, 30, had a half-sleeve mandala-style design inked on her left arm – from the top of her shoulder down to her elbow – which ended up oozing a ‘clear liquid’ and causing ‘grapefruit-size’ swelling. Two days after the tattoo, Amanda – who was initially thrilled with the ‘very dark’ design – developed a burn on her arm that erupted into a number of blisters, leaving her needing hospital treatment. “Because my skin was so swollen I was claustrophobic in my skin and then having my arm wrapped tightly was making me very anxious,” she recounted. Staff treated the syndrome by popping the blisters and scrubbing off the fluid-filled bumps, leaving her in ‘awful pain’.

Strange News (Continued) Weird wee A woman has been diagnosed with a never-before-seen condition after doctors discovered she was urinating alcohol – without having drunk a single drop. The unnamed patient, 61, has become the first person in the world to be diagnosed with ‘urinary auto-brewery syndrome’ caused by yeast in her bladder that ferments sugar in her urine to produce alcohol. The process is almost exactly the same as one used by beer makers – but it was happening in her own body. At first it was suspected she may have been hiding an alcohol addiction when urine tests for the drug were repeatedly positive. However, medics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre eventually discovered the condition.

Polly perfect A parrot which became injured after repeatedly falling to the ground when trying to fly has been given a second chance at successful flight. Twelve-week old green-cheeked parakeet Wei Wei has been given a prosthetic pair of wings at The Unusual Pet Vets in Brisbane, Australia, and within hours, she was back in the air once more. Vet Dr Catherine Apuli said a ‘severe wing trim’ had left the bird in agony and unable to fly without falling to the ground. She made Wei Wei’s prosthetics out of feathers donated to the clinic. Explaining the procedure, she said: “The base of each feather was cut to allow the entry of a wooden toothpick where it is secured in place with glue.” Wing clipping is carried out to restrict flight and protect indoor birds from injuring themselves on ceiling fans or by flying into large windows. But the practice is controversial, with experts saying there is no evidence to suggest clipped birds are any safer than those with full wings when kept inside as pets.

Happy Marriage The secrets of a Happy Marriage:

We always hold hands; if I let go, she shops.

Remember that marriage is the Number One cause of divorce!

She has an electric blender an electric toaster and an electric bread maker. When she says she has too many gadgets and nowhere to sit down, I bought her an electric chair.

Statistically, 100% of all divorces started with marriage. My wife and I have the secret to making a marriage last: Twice a week, we go to a little restaurant, have some good food, a little wine and companionship. She goes on Tuesday and I go Friday. We sleep in separate beds, hers in Sydney and mine in London. I take my wife everywhere, but she keeps finding her way back. I asked her where she wanted to go for our anniversary, “Somewhere I haven’t been for a long time” she said. So I suggested the kitchen.

I married miss Right, I just didn’t know that her first name was Always. I haven’t spoken to her for eighteen months: I don’t like to interrup her. The last time we had a fight, it was my fault. She asked, “What’s on the T.V?” I said, “Dust”.

Liberty Seguros Information Do you know if you need or how to exchange your driving licence? Liberty Seguros answers your questions. There are many questions being bounced around about the consequences of Brexit and what effect it will have for those in Spain and other parts of Europe. And, of course, nothing is certain yet. One of the most recurring doubts is about the validity of driving licences. In this regard, you must know that all driving licences issued in any member state of the European Union and the European Economic Area are valid for driving in Spain while they are in force and have not been removed for any reason. While you have your permit in force, the exchange for an equivalent Spanish driver's licence is completely voluntary. However, don’t forget that once you obtain your legal residence in Spain your licence will be subject to the Spanish regulations regarding its period of validity, control of your psychophysical aptitudes and assignment of a points credit. In those cases, where the driving licence is not subject to a specific period of validity, this will have to be renewed after two years since establishing your legal residence in Spain. However, from January 1st 2021, the general regulations on non-EU countries will apply to the permits issued by the British authorities and you will be allowed to drive in Spain for only six months from your entry in Spain or from the date of obtaining your legal residence. Therefore, if your driving licence was issued in the United Kingdom and you have been residing in Spain for a longer period than 6 months this will no longer be valid for driving in Spain from that date. To continue driving on Spanish roads without problems, you must exchange your permit to a Spanish licence before the said date. To do so, you must arrange an appointment with your nearest office through https://sedeapl.dgt.gob.es You still might use your Spanish licence in the UK for short visits or exchange it for a UK licence without taking a test if you return to live in the UK.

What do you need to exchange your licence? Official application form available at the Jefaturas de Tráfico (Provincial Traffic Departments) and on the DGT’s website (www.dgt.es) Proof of identity and residence: National identity card or passport; your residence card, national identity card or passport and your certificate of registration in the Central Register for Foreign Nationals if you are an EU national; residence card for non-EU nationals. Foreign driving licence to be exchanged in force. Up-to-date 32mm x 26mm colour photo Number or proof of payment of having paid the fee II.3: 28,30€ There are three methods of payment: online www.dgt.es, by bank card at Traffic Departments and by direct debit from a bank account or in cash at financial institutions (model form 791 available at Traffic Departments and on www.dgt.es) All our over 300 agents and brokers are highly qualified with extensive experience and will be available to assist you with any questions you may have. And very importantly, this is done in a personal and friendly way, face to face, in an office environment and not by telephone, unless you so wish. Liberty Seguros excels for the quality of its services, something very well valued by drivers, since they know that they can turn to their insurer at any time to discuss any queries they may have. Liberty Seguros is a very reliable and professional company that has the backing of one of the most important insurance groups in the world: Liberty Mutual. Don’t forget Liberty Seguros not only offers car insurance but also home, life and funeral, amongst others, so you can place all your insurance needs under one expert roof! How To Entertain Yourselves During A Lockdown Writing this, we are day 15 into lockdown in Spain. It’s tough, but even though people cannot physically get together, they are finding ways to unite as a community in order to keep sane!

in your house, for example. You can even take photos of your children with these animals. So far we have tried it with a lion, bear, shark, tiger, penguin, horse, pony, octopus and cheetah.

1. If you haven’t done it already, try it! It gives you a feeling of contentment. At 8pm every evening, everyone goes out onto their balconies and claps to show their thanks and appreciation to all the medical staff who are having to work day and night during this scary time. As the nights have gone on, some other things have been included into this “ritual,” for example playing and singing to the National Anthem, or singing Happy Birthday to all the people who have been unable to celebrate their birthdays. So go on, go out every night and see what your local community has planned.

3. Get creative in the kitchen, find some recipes online to recreate at home and get the family involved.

2. For those of you with children, if you type the name of an animal into Google and then press ‘View in 3D,’ it brings up your camera, focus this on the floor where you would like to see the animal and seconds later, you have a ‘tiger’

4. Spring clean the house — after all it is that time of the year. It will get your body moving and off the sofa! 5. Practise your language skills — what better time to brush up on your Spanish? Download Duolingo or Babbel and do a bit each day. 6. Catch up with an old friend. If it’s been a while since you have had a good long chat, so now is the time as they are most probably sitting at home bored too. 7. Play games, watch TV, get creative, solve puzzles, get some sun, browse the internet/ facebook etc.. exercise or just relax! Above all, stay safe!

Interesting Facts... The Kingdom of Norway is famed for its mountains and spectacular fjord coastline, as well as its history as a

seafaring power. Norway isn't called Norway! At least, not in Norwegian. Norway is the name of the country in the English language. In Norwegian, the country is called Norge. Norway has won more medals in the Winter Olympics than any other country, with 332 to date since the first Winter Olympics. Norwegians read more than any other population in the world, shelling-out an average of 500 NOK (US $76) a year per capita on books. According to The Happiness Research Institute, Norway is the second happiest country on earth, only beaten by Finland. Norway's supermarkets only sell beer and cider. To get any other alcoholic beverage you have to visit a specialised store called a Vinmonopolet. Norway is home to Hell! A little over one thousand Norwegians can say they live in Hell. The small village is within walking distance of Trondheim's international airport and even has its own train station.

Insurance Claims Some real-life insurance claims, along with some that went wrong!  A woman in the USA who had accidentally baked her cellphone inside a birthday cake had her insurance claim denied. The brakes weren’t where I expected them. The accident happened because I had one eye on the lorry in front, one eye on the pedestrian and the other eye on the car behind. In a left turn I went into a skid and my car hit a fruit stand. Confused by all the bananas, oranges and pumpkins that were flying around I hit a postbox and came to the other side of the road where I crashed into a tree and slid with two other cars down the slope. That’s when I lost control over my car. A woman in Sri Lanka was knocked out by a falling coconut, and her claim was paid. Apparently around 150 people are killed by falling coconuts every year, so it's a

well-known risk. A lamp-post bumped into my car, damaging it in two places. As I approached an intersection a sign suddenly appeared in a place where no stop sign had ever appeared before. Going to work at 7am this morning I drove out of my drive straight into a bus. The bus was five minutes early. A dog named Skyler accidentally turned the stove on when he reached for a one-year-old’s birthday cake that was sitting on the burner. Instead of eating the cake, he set it on fire. Fortunately, no humans or dogs were injured. Once upon a time, an insured filed a claim saying their boat was stolen from a closed garage. The problem? The boat was 30 feet long, and the garage was only 24 feet. Instead of having their claim paid out, they received a fine.

Random Jokes :) A man goes to a job interview and the interviewer begins with the question, “What do you think is your biggest weakness?” The man thinks for a moment, then says, “I think my biggest weakness is my brutal honesty.” The interviewer says, “I don’t think that’s a weakness.” The man then says, “I don’t give a s*** what you think!”

An elephant drinking from a stream spots a tortoise lounging on the shore. He grabs it with his trunk and flings it into the jungle. A passing zebra asks, “Why did you do that?” “Forty years ago that very tortoise nipped my tail just for fun,” the elephant said. “Wow, forty years ago! How did you remember that?” “Well I have turtle recall,” replied the elephant

Linea Directa IF YOU HAVE AN ACCIDENT We hope you never need to complete an accident report form, but should it be required, here are the steps to follow. Try to keep calm, never admit blame and collect as much information as possible. STEP 1. Using the accident report form, take down the name, address and mobile phone number of all the drivers involved in the accident along with their car make, model, registration, colour and insurance details. STEP 2. Request names, addresses and mobile phone numbers of any witnesses to the accident, and add them to the report form. STEP 3. Collect evidence noting the direction that the cars were travelling, the car’s condition and how many passengers. Write down the sequence of events by sketching out what happened. Take photos and video footage of the scene.

Then contact your insurance provider as soon as possible, even of you don’t plan to make a claim. If you would like some further advice on this matter, please call our English speaking customer service on 902 325 325.

STEP 4. It’s important that all parties involved sign the completed accident report form. Below is an example of how an accident report form should be completed.

Deep Thoughts For those who take life too seriously... 1. Remember, half the people you know are below average. 2. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese in the trap. 3. A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory. 4. Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine. 5. Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now. 6. Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don’t have film. 7. I couldn’t repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.

8. Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what happened. 9. Light travels faster than sound. That is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. 10. Life isn’t like a box of chocolates... it’s more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today, might burn your butt tomorrow.

Technical Support Dear Technical Support, 18 months ago, I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from DrinkingMates 4.2, which I had used for years without any trouble. However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off. To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is incompatible with several other applications, such as LadsNightOut 3.1, Football 4.5, and playboy 6.9. Successive versions of Girlfriend proved no better. I tried a shareware program, Slapper 2.1, but it had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks. Eventually, I tried to run Girlfriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other they caused severe damage to my hardware. I eventually upgraded to Fiancee 1.0, only to

discover that this product soon had to be upgraded further to Wife 1.0. While Wife 1.0 tends to use up all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSexPlus and Cleanhouse2020. Shortly after this upgrade, however, I found that Wife 1.0 could be very unstable and costly to run. Any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0’s memory and could not be deleted. They then resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them. Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary, Explorer and E-mail filter, and can, with out warning, launch TurboStrop and Multi-Whinge. These latter products have no Help files, and I have to try to guess what the problem is. Additional problems are that Wife 1.0 needs updating regularly, requiring ShoeShop Browser for new attachments and Hairstyle Express which needs to be reinstalled every other week. Also, when Wife 1.0 attaches itself to my Saab 93 Convertible hard drive, it often crashes. Wife 1.0 also comes with an irritating pop-up called MotherInLaw, which can’t be turned off. Recently I’ve been tempted to install Mistress 2020, but there could be problems. A friend of mine has alerted me to the fact that if Wife 1.0 detects Mistress 2020; it tends to delete all of your Money before uninstalling itself. Help requested please!

De Cotta Law Residency Now is the time for people from the UK to settle in Spain. With more than 50,000 people already registered on the Costa del Sol, advice from the authorities both in the UK and in Spain is to register now while the rules are clear. Covid 19 update: The authorities have advised that applications are not being dealt with during the lockdown. Whilst this will cause a delay, it is still advisable to contact us about the process now so that your application will be ready when the offices re-open. If you intend to remain in Spain more than 90 days, or if it is going to be your principal residence, you can apply for residencia – a residency card – under the current rules until the end of the year. From January 2021 it is not yet certain whether that will be more than 90 days in each 180 days or not. There are still negotiations taking place and everybody hopes that there will be further agreements based on reciprocity between the UK and Spain. What is clear is the current requirement, which will remain in place during this transition period. At present, to apply for residence as a Pensioner with a state pension you need a letter from the DHS stating the amount you receive with a translation. You need to obtain your form S1 from your medical centre in the UK and register this with the Spanish medical system. If you own a property you need a recent Land Registry entry. You will need copies of your documents and to have your original passport with you.

If you do not have a State Pension you will need letters of proof of private pensions and/or income with proof from a bank showing your monthly income, again with translations. You will also need private Spanish medical cover confirming that it is fully paid up for one year. Evidence of property ownership should be provided. Finally, if you are self-employed in Spain (autonomo) you need the Model 037 form, evidence of registration at your Town Hall and evidence of Spanish health care. All UK citizens living in Spain should apply to be on the padron – registered with the Town Hall. The appointments systems vary and some local knowledge can be very helpful in ensuring your application is dealt with. If you want to make your application now, contact us: info@decottalaw.net, or call 952 527 014.

VetiverSpain Now is the BEST time to plant Vetiver! Vetiver grass has many applications but its most common use is for solving erosion problems due to its 2-4 metres deep root system. Vetiver planted near other crops increases their yield. Vetiver is also used as a windbreak. Planted now, the plants should be 1-2 metres tall by the fall when the winds come. Vetiver helps save water all year long as the roots store water while improving soil quality.

the best time to plant Vetiver. In Sayalonga we plant all year round but our best results have been from planting in March. The reason for this is that Vetiver is indigenousness to India and Vetiver loves the heat of summer to become more established. This is the opposite of what most people believe. View our website for applications and to see more examples of dated photos showing the results of planting at different times of year. www.vetiverspain.com email: vetiverspain@gmail.com Contact David at 692 288 657 e and agazin M a ll e Sentin re plants. n The o Mentio 10% m

& t i Fru Factsarb Veg Rhub Rhubarb crumble is a long-time favourite pudding, but this humble fruit offers much more than just being comfort food. One serving of rhubarb meets 45% of our daily vitamin K needs – the nutrient that supports bone health. The vitamin C in rhubarb wards off infections, and the vitamin A and lutein in the fruit boost vision health. There are other ways it can be good for us too. Being a natural laxative, rhubarb can be used to treat constipation. Studies show that rhubarb possesses antidiarrhoeal effects, thanks to its tannin content. One cup of rhubarb meets 10% of the daily requirement of calcium, another mineral crucial for bone health. The vitamin K in rhubarb also limits neuronal damage to the brain – and this can happen to the point of preventing Alzheimer’s, stroke and ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Rhubarb was found to reduce bad cholesterol, and since it is a low-calorie food choice, it can be a great addition to a weight loss diet. It also contains catechins, the same compounds in green tea that give it its beneficial properties. Catechins are known to boost metabolism, and this also helps burn body fat and aid weight loss. It is also a good source of fibre, another nutrient important for weight loss. Animal studies have shown that physcion, a concentrated chemical in rhubarb that gives its stems their colour, can kill 50% of cancer cells in a matter of 48 hours. This is currently under further investigation. Some research has shown that compounds found in the stems of rhubarb can help improve blood sugar levels. The active compound, called rhaponticin, was found to be beneficial to diabetics. Other studies talk about the active

compounds in rhubarb that protect the arteries from damage, which might otherwise lead to cardiovascular disease. Some sources say that rhubarb can also lower blood pressure. Studies show that rhubarb can relieve hot flushes, and this is especially true in the cause of perimenopause. Rhubarb also contains phytoestrogens. Rhubarb is a storehouse of vitamin A. This natural antioxidant helps in neutralising free radicals and delays the symptoms of ageing (like wrinkles and fine lines). The fruit is a natural antibacterial and antifungal agent and helps protect our skin from various infections. Raw rhubarb, in the form of a paste, has been advocated by alternative medicine practitioners as a topical application for various skin infections. You can make a paste of rhubarb stems and apply to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash off with cold water. Repeat every morning. Rhubarb root contains a good dose of oxalic acid that is known to render a light brown or blonde hue to the hair. The presence of oxalic acid makes the hair colour last longer and does not harm the scalp. Add about three tablespoons of powdered rhubarb roots to two cups of water and simmer it for 15 minutes. Allow it to rest overnight. Strain the liquid in the morning and rinse your hair with this mixture for an awesome hair colour.

Health Watch Part two of the foods to eat if you don’t fancy going to the grave before you are due to. This month we look at the letter ‘B’. Bananas If you are a stress-head chomp some nannas and chill. The long bent fruits are full of carbohydrate and a great source of potassium, which helps to maintain a healthy blood pressure. They also act as a great mood-enhancer, so if you’re feeling down in the dumps (like most of us right now!) forget the vodka, just get the bananas out! The yellower the banana the better.

Broccoli This green tree-like vegis abundant in beta-carotene and Vitamin C. It has been dubbed one of the biggest weapons in the nutritional fight against cancer. It is rich in folic acid which keeps blood healthy and it is recommended for women who are either pregnant or planning to become so. If you have anaemia you should eat broccoli regularly as it is also packed with iron. Next month we look at the benefits of eating Carrots, Cranberries, Cayenne pepper & Coffee (well drinking the latter).

Beetroot What an amazing salad vegetable. There is evidence that eating beetroot causes cancer cells to either revert to normal or to die, which may help to boost the length and quality of life of sufferers. The leaves of the beetroot, which can be eaten raw or cooked, are good for osteoporosis. It is just a shame it makes your hands stain red when you touch it!  Brail Nut One of the richest sources of selenium and vitamin E, essential for anti-ageing. Selenium enhances immunity by activating an enzyme in the body which inhibits the formation of free radicals and suppresses tumour growth. Even eating just a few nuts a day is beneficial and can help to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and fungal infections.

s Now r b e l Ce en & Agutte Th Jenny Actress Jenny Agutter is currently best known for her role as Sister Julienne in the popular BBC series Call the Midwife, but she has had a long and varied career, which began in childhood. The daughter of an army officer, Jenny spent her childhood travelling and living in different countries. Her film career began at the age of 12 in East of Sudan (1964), which was quickly followed by The Magical World of Disney: Ballerina: Part 1 (1966), The Magical World of Disney: Ballerina: Part 2 (1966), and A Man Could Get Killed (1966).

Merchant of Venice, King Lear, Love's Labours Lost and Romeo & Juliet. In the 1990s, she concentrated mainly on television, with roles in Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less (1990); Red Dwarf (1988); The All New Alexei Sayle Show (1994); The Buccaneers (1995); And the Beat Goes On (1996); September (1996) with Edward Fox, Michael York, Virginia McKenna and Jacqueline Bisset; A Respectable Trade (1998) with Warren Clarke, Anna Massey and Richard Briers. Her theatrical films during this period included Darkman (1990) with Liam Neeson; and Blue Juice (1995) with Sean Pertwee, Ewan McGregor and Catherine Zeta-Jones. She has also made several guest appearances in TV shows such as Boon (1986); The Equalizer (1985) with Edward Woodward; The Twilight Zone (1985); Magnum, P.I. (1980) and The Six Million Dollar Man (1974). Cornwall-based Jenny has been married to Swedish-born hotelier Johan Tham since the late 1980s, and they have one son, Jonathan, born in 1990.

In 1970, she got her big break as a child star: as Bobbie in The Railway Children (1970). The next year, Hollywood called and she spent several years there, receiving an Emmy Award for her role in The Snow Goose (1971) alongside Richard Harris.

Her particular love is charity work for The Diabetic Association and NCH Action for Children — a charity which provides home and other help for homeless children. She once spent a night sleeping rough in London to highlight the plight of the homeless.

In 1976, Jenny really came to the attention of US film audiences with her starring role in the science-fiction classic Logan's Run (1976) with Michael York. It was a huge box-office success and spawned a television series. She also starred alongside Richard Chamberlain in a made-for-TV version of the famous Dumas tale The Man in the Iron Mask (1977) and turned in a solid performance in the WW II thriller The Eagle Has Landed (1976) with Michael Caine and Donald Sutherland. The next year, she starred in the weighty Equus alongside Richard Burton. One of the films for which she is most fondly remembered is An American Werewolf in London (1981).

She was awarded the OBE in the 2012 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her charitable services.

She has also appeared in several Shakespearean works, including Othello, The

Jenny said recently that a nun — who looked after her sick mother — had once told her the only way to cope with difficulties in life was to just get on with it.

To advertise call 664 210 468 or email sales@thesentinella.com Scarlett strikes back Scarlett Moffatt has declared she's not apologising to anyone who thinks her looks aren't "good enough". The telly star, 29, shared a natural selfie on Instagram and wrote that she's "taking back ownership" of her body. In the defiant message, Scarlett insisted she's embracing her looks — flaws and all — and refuses to say sorry to any trolls who don't like her. She wrote: "2020 is the year I feel like a boss & I'm not afraid to say it. "I’m taking ownership for my body.” Her post came days after she posted a picture of herself in a swimsuit to hit back at body-shaming trolls. The telly star wrote: "Hi my name’s Scarlett. I have boobs, hips and cellulite but am I gonna stop that from taking a photo and posting it for all to see?... no!” Netflix actor’s secret battle Actor Nicholas Tucci has died at the age of 38 after battling cancer. He was best known for his roles in Netflix's You're Next and Channel Zero. Nicholas' father Alexandra broke the news on social media, revealing his brave son had wanted to keep his health troubles private so that he could continue to work. Sharing a picture of his son he wrote: "Nick wanted to continue to pursue his professional and artistic dreams for as long as possible. In the last year, he was able to audition, go on location, and continue the work he loved so much.” Dating on Ice? Dancing On Ice has practically been branded a “successful dating show” by star judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean after years of headlines about backstage romances and breakups on the reality winter sport show. The Olympic duo have attempted to play down the idea that the hit ITV show is cursed in a similar way to Strictly Come Dancing, and instead think the rink is the perfect place for romance to ignite. For years viewers have been gripped by the romantic action behind the scenes almost as much as they are by the routines performed on the ice. But 61-year-old Christopher and 62-year-old Jayne think the love lives of the famous contestants is inevitable as the stars and their trainers spend months working closely together.

81

C el e Newbrity s

“Romance on ice happens because you get into this bubble and it’s very close, tactile and, more than anything, there is trust that has to go into the celebrity-pro partnerships,” Christopher told The Sun.” Footballer Kevin Kilbane and pro partner Brianne Delcourt, skater Sylvain Longchambon and actress Samia Ghadie, and footballer David Seaman and skater Frankie Poultney are among those who fell for each other after working together on the show.

Aloud again Kimberley Walsh has dropped hints that the group Girls Aloud — formed on Pop Stars in 2002 but acrimoniously split in 2013 — may be reunited. Speaking at the launch of the West End production Pretty Woman, Kimberley, 38, revealed that she had ended her seven-year feud with bandmate Nadine Coyle. The pair hadn't spoken since the band split, although Kimberley remained best friends with Cheryl and the recent Masked Singer winner Nicola Roberts. Now Kimberley has said they may have finally buried the hatchet, potentially paving the way for a Girls Aloud reunion in 2022. It had seemed unlikely their fans' desire for a 20th anniversary comeback would be possible, especially as Nadine had claimed a couple of months ago that getting the band together would be like "moving a mountain".

The film follows the (mis)adventures that Sonic tries to navigate and the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound best friend -- a human named Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom come together to try and stop the villainous and evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic. Taking Advantage Of Strange Times I get the feeling that by the time anyone reads this little article, we will still be in lockdown here in Spain. And as a result, like all other activities, the sale of properties is pretty much now on hold. Showing properties is not possible and paperwork updates difficult to process with notaries and town halls all restricted to urgent procedures only. However, now is the time, if you are selling or thinking of selling, to take time to concentrate on your house, if you are ‘stuck’ indoors here in Spain! So here are some things to be getting on with that will make your days jollier and help you to be better prepared for the Big Bounce-Back we are all sure will come along soon! 1) Declutter! A house that is clean and clutter-free is always easier to sell, there is no doubt about this. So get out some old boxes and let those unnecessary items go! Recycle where possible, and make sure the new, open space left in its place is clean and organised.

2) Paint! If that’s a job you’ve been putting off for ages, now’s the time to get out the paintbrush and roller, put on some music and sing while you whitewash those walls! 3) Reorganise! There’s nothing like a bit of moving around of furniture to freshen up a place and make it feel roomy and fresh. Maybe give the curtains a much needed wash, or dig out some sofa throws or bed covers, with a splash of colour. It’s good for the soul as well as your house appearance. 4) Garden! Now is the time to clean up your garden or terrace, do the weeding and encourage your plants to thrive. Throw out or burn those piles of dead leaves and wood, and chuck out any old and broken furniture and garden accessories, sweep up and give your outdoor space a new lease of life. See you when we bounce back! Here’s hoping! By Toni Waterman, Unspoilt Andalusia (see advertisement below)

Brave New World I'm teaching in my slippers. I live in my PJs. Sometimes I brush my hair. I don’t use make up. One line teaching isn’t flattering and I need a professional makeover to make me look good, so why bother? No one has commented which shows me how superfluous it was in the first place. My boss, based locally in Velez/Torre, is probably going through a living hell, but sends us funny messages to keep our spirits up. We are all connecting on a different level #inittogether which sounds a bit Essex. G’s happy. His job trained him for social distancing. He's drilling and hammering contentedly. Once Chirunguito Guiri is complete, he’ll discover a new challenge. He has spare pallets and a glue gun. Strangely, I’ve never seen him so happy. If we need provisions, he will head off on his motorbike on wonderfully peaceful roads to be the hunter gatherer of the household. But, we have enough and that will be used up first.

Toilet paper is used sparingly. And because I had a Blue Peter childhood, I'm already planning craft projects with the roll. There’ll be no shortage of Christmas crackers in this house. I’ve started to paint. Just the left over bits of wood from G’s projects but it has been fun. The longer this situation goes on the more like a child’s version of the Museo de Prado this house will become. Since arriving, I've found a small number of people in my area are not quite my cup of tea. There is lots of tea drinking in this household and I’m still hopeful that tea is found to be the Covid 19 cure. The Royal Decree has l egitimised my desire to isolate myself from these people well and truly. They won’t miss me: I don’t miss them and that state can continue in perpetuity. Overall, this might be my perfect state of being...

My shopping habits have been curtailed, saving me lots of cash. Even collecting an Amazon delivery might mean a police stop and check, so why bother? It makes me really think about the mass of useless trinkets I’ve bought over time. I reckon social media marketplaces will be full of redundant goods at the end of this. Nerja Car Boot might have to extend as we rid ourselves of all that we don’t need. No shopping goes to waste. I've become the reincarnation of my nan who lived through WW2. Chicken bones make Ruby’s dinner...and G’s too. I start my online class with each student saying a good thing they'd done in the days preceding my class. One young Spanish girl said her mum had now got the time to make cookies with her. I don't even know if she realised just how lovely that was to hear. My own childhood...many years ago...was filled with biscuit and cake baking and mum chats. Perhaps social distancing might bring some of us closer together.

Wines Worth Locating: Arzuaga Spain has a lot of interest for many people. Not least is the cuisine and, of course, Spanish wines. Spain produces numerous fabulous wines, from whites to reds, plus something between the two, also sparkling and fortified productions. Whether dry, medium or sweet is a preference, Spanish wines offer something for all tastes and palates.

Fino, Merlot, Albillo), utilises carefully-selected grapes, from very old vines. This wine is well-balanced, full-bodied and elegant. The dark fruits for the bouquet create a sensual effect, which entices, superbly, to the mouth's pleasures. Splendid, with red and dark berries emphasised throughout, this is surely a wine for the 'top table'. Arzuaga Gran Reserva Especial and

Multi award-winning Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro, located at Valladolid, in the Duero region, has an excellent selection of wines that includes La Planta (Grapes: Tinto Fino). This production portrays a great impression of Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro. The intense red colour allures to the bouquet of red fruits. The mouthfeel and palate sensation continue to please, very much so. Arzuaga Crianza (Grapes: Tinto Fino, Cabernet Sauvignon) I found elegant and with very good character. This is regularly chosen, by many. The red/ruby colour, plus intense aromas of dark fruits, ensure popularity for this wine, which has a long finish on the palate. Pago Florentino (Grapes: Cenicibel), again, is fruity and elegant, with a bouquet of ripe, red, juicy fruits. The palate is pleasured, with an extended finish.

Arzuaga Gran Reserva (Aged 50 months) are also available.

Arzuaga Reserva, aged 30 months (Grapes: Tinto

These are just a selection of the Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro very impressive range of wines. High-quality Extra Virgin Olive Oils, produced utilising Cornicabra and Arbequina olives, to great advantage, are also available and very popular, too. Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro offers private tours of the wine estate, winery and cellars, plus the game reserve. The hotel has sumptuous suites. Bedrooms look out over their vines. The restaurant, widely regarded as being amongst the best restaurants of the Ribera del Duero region, regularly accommodates banquets and functions. Costa Animal Society This is a subject most people do not like to think about but it is extremely important to make plans for the care of your pet if you should become seriously ill, or worse, pass away. In the past, (CAS) has had to take in pets when their owners were suddenly admitted into a nursing home and there were no advance arrangements made for the animals. In these instances CAS usually receives an urgent phone call from someone looking for a place to house the animals but when asked, there is no clear answer as to who would be responsible for the boarding and food costs, which can run into the hundreds if not thousands of euros. Fortunately, in past instances CAS has been in contact with someone managing the financial affairs of the owner and at least part of the financial burden for the care of their pets were met.

La Vaqueria Team sends our heartfelt best wishes to everyone who has been affected by this virus and we look forward to seeing all of our customers again soon. XXX

On an even more serious note, in the past year CAS has had a couple of cases where people have died suddenly and left animals to fend for themselves because no plan was in place to assume responsibility for the surviving pet. It cannot be assumed that the next of kin will automatically look after a beloved pet even if an owner leaves all of their worldly goods to their family unless provisions are expressly written into the will. If this were to happen to you and there is no relative or friend willing to step forward, imagine what might happen to your beloved furry friend? The worst-case scenario is that your pet would be taken to the pound and if not rehomed in two weeks, would be put down. This is why it is so important to sit down with your designated caregiver and have a serious conversation about where your pet is going to live after you are gone. Even better put your wishes in writing or make it part of your will, i.e. you can have my house and money as long as you take good care of my pet. Another way to provide for your pet after you depart, as well as many other animals, is to donate a portion of your estate to a local animal charity such as CAS.

) : a h a Jokes h Twelve priests were about to be ordained. The final test was for them to line up in a straight row, totally naked, in a garden while a sexy, beautiful, big breasted, nude model danced before them. Each priest had a small bell attached to his weenie and they were told that anyone whose bell rang when she danced in front of them would not be ordained because he had not reached a state of spiritual purity.  The beautiful model danced before the first candidate, with no reaction. She proceeded down the line with the same response from all the priests until she got to the final priest, Carlos. Poor Carlos; as she danced, his bell began to ring so loudly that it flew off, clattering across the ground and finally came to rest in some nearby foliage. Embarrassed, Carlos quickly scrambled to where the bell came to rest and bent over to pick it up. Then all the other bells started to ring... ------------------------------------------------------------A far more accurate account of the events of that fateful morning... Baby bear goes downstairs, sits in his small chair at the table. He looks into his small bowl. It is empty. "Who's been eating my porridge?" he squeaks. Daddy Bear arrives at the big table and sits in his big chair. He looks into his big bowl and it is also empty. "Who's been eating my porridge?!" he roars. Mummy Bear puts her head through the serving hatch from the kitchen and yells, "For God's sake, how many times do I have to go through this with you idiots? It was Mummy Bear who got up first. It was Mummy Bear who woke everyone in the house. It was Mummy Bear who made the coffee. It was Mummy Bear who unloaded the dishwasher from last night and put everything

away. It was Mummy Bear who swept the floor in the kitchen. It was Mummy Bear who went out in the cold early morning air to fetch the newspaper and croissants. It was Mummy Bear who set the damn table. It was Mummy Bear who walked the bloody dog, cleaned the cat's litter tray, gave them their food, and refilled their water. And now that you've decided to drag your sorry bear-asses downstairs and grace Mummy Bear with your grumpy presence, listen carefully, because I'm only going to say this once....I HAVEN'T MADE THE DAMN PORRIDGE YET!!!" ------------------------------------------------------------Ireland's worst air disaster occurred early this morning when a small two-seater Cessna plane crashed into a cemetery. Irish search and rescue workers have recovered 1826 bodies so far and expect that number to climb as digging continues into the night. ------------------------------------------------------------A man walked into the doctor 's, he said, "I've hurt my arm in several places" The doctor said, "Well don't go to those places" ------------------------------------------------------------A blonde was playing Trivial Pursuit one night and it was her turn. She rolled the dice and landed on Science of Nature. The question to her was, “If you are in a vacuum and someone calls your name, can you hear it?” She thought for a while and then asked, “Is it on or off?” ------------------------------------------------------------A woman gets on a bus with her baby. As she pays for her ticket, the bus driver says: "That's the ugliest baby I've ever seen. Ugh!" The woman sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: "The driver just insulted me!" The man says: "You shouldn't take that. You tell him off – go ahead, I'll hold your monkey."

Jokes h a ha :) Two elderly residents, one male and one female, were sitting alone in the lobby of their nursing home one evening. The old man looked over and said to the old lady, "I know just what you're wanting, and for €5 I'll have sex with you right over there in that rocking chair." The old lady looked surprised but didn't say a word. The old man continued, "For €10 I'll do it with you on that nice soft sofa over there, but for €20 I'll take you back to my room, light some candles, and give you the most romantic evening you've ever had in your life." The old lady still says nothing but after a couple minutes, starts digging down in her purse. She pulls out a wrinkled €20 note and holds it up. "So you want the nice romantic evening in my room," says the old man. "Hell, no," replies the old lady. "I want four times in the rocking chair!" ------------------------------------------------------------Two men are robbing a hotel. "I hear sirens. Jump!" says the first one. "But we're on the 13th floor!" his fellow thief replies. "This is no time to be superstitious!" ------------------------------------------------------------A man visits his aunt in the nursing home. It turns out that she is taking a nap, so he just sits down in a chair in her room, flips through a few magazines, and munches on some peanuts sitting in a bowl on the table. Eventually, the aunt wakes up, and her nephew realises he's absentmindedly finished the entire bowl. "I'm so sorry, auntie, I've eaten all of your peanuts!" "That's okay, dearie," the aunt replied. "After I've sucked the chocolate off, I don't care for them anyway." -------------------------------------------------------------

A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked a stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The stock boy replied, "No ma'am, they're dead." ------------------------------------------------------------A golfer, playing a round by himself, is about to tee off and a greasy little salesman runs up to him, and yells, "Wait! Before you tee off, I have something really amazing to show you!" The golfer, annoyed, says, "What is it?" "It's a special golf ball," says the salesman. "You can never lose it!" "Whattaya mean," scoffs the golfer, "You can never lose it? What if you hit it into the water?" "No problem," says the salesman. "It floats, and it detects where the shore is, and spins towards it." "Well, what if you hit it into the woods?" "Easy," says the salesman. "It emits a beeping sound and you can find it with your eyes closed." "Okay," says the golfer, impressed. "But what if your round goes late and it gets dark?" "No problem, sir, this golf ball glows in the dark! I'm telling you, you can never lose this golf ball!" The golfer buys it at once. "Just one question," he says to the salesman. "Where did you get it?" "I found it." ---------------------------------------------------My husband, unhappy with my mood swings brought on by menopause, bought me a mood ring the other day so he would be able to monitor my moods. We've discovered that when I'm in a good mood, it turns green and when I'm in a bad mood, it leaves a big frickin' red mark on his forehead. Maybe next time he'll buy me a diamond!

s e p o c s o Hor by Juanita Banana of Banana Moon www.AbsoluteAxarquia.com ARIES: March 21-April 20 Trouble drains away on the 13th April, leaving you relieved and inspired. The 18th and 19th demonstrate the power you have over your environment, leaving you until the 24th to meet goals and satisfy your desires. Old mistakes may surge back into your life on the 25th – you have two days to kick them into touch or be saddled with the consequences for several weeks to come TAURUS: April 21-May 21 You’ve been pressured to act before you’re ready but can reconnect with your potential between the 5th and 10th April. Try to get some time alone to absorb what’s happening. By the 11th/12th you’ll feel strong and complete, standing up for those less able. Certain parties would like to see you fail – ignore them and any temptation to show them who’s boss. Between the 15th and 27th you’ll reap rewards for heroism. Look ahead, not backward GEMINI: May 22-June 21 From the 6th, you spend the remainder of April operating without the guidance you normally take for granted. The effects become clear between the 7th and 12th when plans may backfire at awkward moments. Your imagination leads to genuine wish fulfillment on the 13th and 14th – make sure you spread it to all who could benefit CANCER: June 22-July 22 Expanding boundaries may leave you beyond your recent comfort zone and lessons may need to be repeated. An act of creativity breaks you out of your trap. Try not to irritate others who are important to your success with a fragile thread you choose to follow. On the 15th/16th check in with someone you love and by the 20th try to reconnect with your real tribe LEO: July 23-August 23 You begin April with a swagger in your step pleasing yourself at every opportunity, but by the 12th you’re thinking about responsibility and maturity. Knowingly or unknowingly, someone starts to give you a hard time – your ideals meet heavy scrutiny, alongside assessing whether some things are necessities or luxuries. Life goes on anyway and it’s still a party. You’re smiling again by the 23rd and shining your undimmed light between the 27th and 29th VIRGO: August 24-September 22 The first eight days of April are superb, with art and community central to your happiness. However, on the 9th, someone will want to undermine your progress. On the 11th and 12th you find a different approach which, from the 13th to the 19th, you deploy with varying degrees of comprehension and failure. Get accustomed to these

culture clashes and maintain a sense of humour! LIBRA: September 23 - October 22 You’re popular, reasonable and committed without being trapped. The 5th and 6th April bring your best possible past and future into the ideal now. Karmic or monetary debts come due on the 11th/12th - you should have seen this coming. Get ready for a strenuous transition between the 15th and 22nd. SCORPIO: October 23 - November 21 Skip any April Fool pranks and don’t look for trouble on the 1st and 2nd when none of the right people will be amused. Starting on the 3rd though you redeem yourself with anyone you previously upset. Maybe you’re out for advantage or revenge, but by the 6th you just want everyone to get along SAGITTARIUS: November 22 - December 21 Opportunity is there for the taking, just reach out for it. From the 5th to the 14th April, you are free and empowered, with friendships and teamships carrying you through rough patches you might not even notice. You’re at the height of your popularity on the 9th and 10th with everything going well until the 15th when a little caution should be employed to prevent losing your grip. You attract positive attention on the 28th and a bracing dose of reality on the 30th CAPRICORN: December 22 - January 20 At the beginning of April you’re on the wrong side of an injustice. Show intelligence and commitment on the 3rd and 4th and don’t give up, despite powerful events on the 5th and 6th. From the 7th your luck changes and your good luck becomes contagious, starting an epidemic. Although you’re good at talking your way out of corners, between the 20th and 22nd, a temporary escape isn’t a real solution. People come around by the end of the month AQUARIUS: January 21 - February 19 Cast off the chains of place and possession on the 5th and 6th and let the 9th provide a welcome shortcut and a winning streak that lasts the next ten days. The 23rd and 24th are your last days in April for truly getting away with magic - once that window of clarity passes, you’re looking for answers with everyone else PISCES: February 20 - March 20 Disappointment outweighs anticipation between the 1st and 6th as you attempt to do too much in too little time. Brightness and subversive hunger make life fun again on the 7th and 8th. Invite your friends to play. This attitude makes trouble on the 9th, but by the 11th you spin it back in your favour and enjoy twelve trouble-free days. The 19th and 20th shift you into a more community-oriented mode
