This month I’m going to talk about the internet, specially the social media craze swamping the world via websites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Linked In. People are able to inform others about their business with the click of a button, even if they live on the other side of the world. Strange News Seagull who thinks he’s a cat!

A confused seagull is having an identity crisis - apparently believing that he is a cat. Mr Pooh was adopted by June and Steve Grimwood after he fell down their chimney as a baby. They decided to rear him themselves.

Mr Grimwood, 52, said the couple's three cats were extremely wary of the new arrival at first. However, he added, it wasn't long before Mr Pooh was happily eating cat food out of a bowl with them. Since then the now three-year-old gull has become firm friends with felines Mitzi, Gus and Henry. Mr Pooh has now flown the coop, setting up home with a female on the Grimwood's roof. However, he returns to visit his human and feline friends three times a day - at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Drunk driving, a lawn mower An Iowa man ended up in jail after he was pulled over for driving on a motorway at night with no lights - on a lawn mower.

Robert Grimstad, 38, was allegedly driving all over Highway 17, near Des Moines, when he was stopped by sheriff's deputies. He told police officers that he was out on his lawn mower picking up cans out of community spirit. But officers smelt alcohol on his breath, gave him a blood test and charged him with drink driving. Boone County Sheriff Ron Fehr says it's illegal in Iowa to drive any kind of motor vehicle anywhere in Iowa while drunk.

Sheriff Fehr was unable to confirm how fast Grimstad was going: "I don't know," he said.

Speedy cube stunt A Rubik's cube expert has pulled off his most amazing feat yet - solving two of the puzzles inside a shark tank. David Calvo, 24, solved both cubes one-handed simultaneously while sharing the tank with six sharks. He completed the puzzles in just 76 seconds as he sat on the bottom of the tank at the Terra Natura Park in Benidorm, Spain.

"I found I was very focused on getting it done as quickly as possible - I wasn't very keen on hanging around," he said.

New Sponsorship Deal The Football Association has proudly unveiled Total, FCUK and UPS as the new sponsors of the England football team.

'The combination of these three corporate giants perfectly captures the ethos of the England side,' said an FA spokesman. 'After all, they had nothing in the tank when it counted, and they've proved themselves to be a bunch of expensive posers who always fail to deliver.'

The announcement followed the news that Nationwide Building Society would be ending its sponsorship of the national side after the FA rejected its pre-World Cup offer of a new ÂŁ20m deal. 'Not so cocky now, are you?' said Nationwide in a prepared statement yesterday. Pundits noted that if the FA followed Nationwide's advice, it would be the second time in a fortnight that England had been laid wide open at the back.

Random Joke A rich man living in Darwin decided that he wanted to throw a party and invited all of his buddies and neighbours’. He also invited Colin, the only aborigine in the neighbourhood. He held the party around the pool in the backyard of his mansion. Everyone was having a good time drinking, dancing, eating prawns, oysters, BBQ and flirting. At the height of the party, the host said, 'I have a 15ft man-eating crocodile in my pool and I'll give a million dollars to anyone who has the balls to jump in.'

Author Interview I interviewed author, Pamela Abel-Smith, about her children’s book, Little Ed & The Rise of Grimehog, which is published by me, The Word Queen (see advert below)! why did you decide to write this book?

I decided to write the book to help our grandson Eddie enjoy reading.

Can you describe the book in a couple of sentences?

The book is a story about three children who make friends with the gnomes in Gnomeland. The children help the gnomes, through magical stones by getting rid of a horrid goblin, who is making their lives miserable. what kind of people do you think will enjoy reading your book?

It was written for a child, but all ages from 6 to 80 have read and enjoyed it. what reader feedback have you had so far?

So far I have received great comments about all three books from children and adults alike. have you plans to write any more books?

I have already written two other books and I’m now on the fourth one. They are all about Little Ed and his friends.

Naranja – This is an orange and hopefully a juicy one! Zumo de naranja is translated as ‘orange juice’. LT Construction I was growing a little bored with my old advert, as I’m sure many of my clients were, so I thought it was time to update it to reflect the changes in our in-house expertise and the market in general.

It seemed apparent that many of the General Public were confused as to what a Landscaper does. This isn’t helped by the fact that a lot of jobbing gardeners advertise themselves as ‘Landscapers’. A comment by some people in the past has been, “I didn’t know you did building work”, which left me feeling a little surprised!

My house is situated north of the lake at La Viñuela. Most of the houses surrounding mine have been affected this winter by slipped banks, collapsed retaining walls and in the worst case, the whole house moved.

The fact that my house and land has not moved is no accident!¡ A ‘Landscape Gardener’ covers many disciplines, starting from a consultation with the client to obtain the basic idea of the project, moving on to the design stage, project management and project completion.

The projects normally start with the hard landscaping. This can cover many different building requirements, from retaining walls, drainage, driveways, terracing, patios, stairs, pergolas, garages and casitas. This stage can often involve electrics as well as pumping for septic tanks, water deposits and irrigation systems.

The final stage is the soft landscaping, i.e. planting. There is less of a need for this now, as most of the houses in our area have mature gardens.

The benefit of using a true Landscaper over a General Builder is that we come from a design background, as well as having an understanding of how the land is structured.

The aesthetics of the house and garden are taken into consideration as well as best practice in regard to building specifications.

The emphasis with my business now is more towards construction, as this is the area for which I receive the majority of enquiries.

A Night Market

Beat The Heat With The Chringuito Night Market The chiringuito market in Puente Don Manuel is held every Friday between the hours of 10am to 1.30pm. There are more than 25 quality stalls selling a wide variety of items. On August 13th there will be a night market between the hours of 7pm until 10pm. This way you, the customer, can beat the heat and browse in comfort! There will be a range of stalls, offering items such as clothing, handmade jewellery, perfumes, arts and crafts, handmade cards, stationary, watches, items to keep you cool for the summer, handbags, cosmetics and much more.

If you fancy a bit of a sing song, then no problem! The lovely Katie (The English Rose) and her husband Baz, will rock the evening away.

Las Nenas Kennels Bente and Jorgen are a Danish couple, who apart from a 1 1/2 year stint in Denmark, have lived in Spain since May 2004.

They previously let out holiday homes and they also owned a small Real Estate company.

The husband and wife team have been running Las Nenas Kennels since November last year.

"We felt there was the need for a kennel with the focus on dogs not just being left to themselves, but being played with, stimulated and exercised," said Jorgen. "As dog owners ourselves, we're aware that leaving your pet in another person’s hands is a matter of trust. It's important to us that a kennel owner has time to care and meet each dog’s individual needs, so the temporary break from the owner is as smooth as possible. That's exactly our aim. We believe the dog’s wellbeing is essential to the owner and ourselves, as much as it is to the dog itself."

Las Nenas Kennels is situated in the countryside between Canillas de Aceituno and Sedella, half an hour drive from the coast. It has eight spacious, individual kennels, one 'family size'. The kennels are protected from the sun and sheltered from heavy rain and wind.

It also has a large, enclosed play area.

"We walk the dogs at least three times a day and it's an ideal setting as there's hardly any traffic around at all," said Bente. "You're always welcome to contact us for an appointment or a viewing so we can chat about your dog’s needs”.

Mind, Body & Spirit This month I’d like to address the theme of Mind-Body healing as a process; a journey rather than a 'one-off' event. I recently received the following question from someone who came to me for a healing session during which issues of suppressed physical and mental childhood abuse came to light. “Lots of thoughts and feelings have stirred up relating to the last healing session, but I don't know what to do with them all. Some of it's related to beliefs I've formed because of the verbal and emotional abuse, which has effected me a lot more than the physical abuse and I'm wondering how to change them. Also I now realise that when I'm feeling particularly down, I abuse myself in the same way that my abuser used to do to me, which obviously isnt very healthy. Is there anything I could do to help?�

Firstly it's important to simply be with the emerging feelings (rather than suppressing them as before), and to do so with compassion; not judging, rationalising, or trying to do anything about them. Feelings are natural.

By allowing them and staying in compassion they will naturally pass and change. Likewise the beliefs you formed about yourself back then. Witness them, observe how they have shaped your life and relationships, but don't feed them! Don't add more energy to them by dwelling on them or going into sympathy, or self-pity with them. Healing involves finding yourself in an old familiar inner territory and responding in a new way. Allow yourself to feel the energy behind the beliefs, then take the energy and put it into your new con-

sciously chosen beliefs about yourself. "I am good enough, I am a good person, I deserve love, kindness, etc." Above all, when you catch yourself about to repeat the abuse cycle by abusing yourself, choose out, and actively love yourself instead. Treat yourself lovingly, with understanding, compassion and support. Do something which positively reinforces the 'you' you are becoming / reclaiming.

You may find the guided visualisations on my CD 'Heal Yourself' helpful, especially if you listen to them at times when you are feeling down. You can change the past!
