m Fro Ed... the I’m writing this month’s editorial from a little town called Polson, in Montana. It’s not the most luxurious town in the world. In fact, my boyfriend and I often jokingly describe it as “junky.” But, nevertheless, we are staying in a beautiful, Light-filled, spacious house overlooking Flathead Lake, which is located on an Indian reservation area. As summer approaches, every day that goes by we see something new on or around the lake. So far we’ve seen ducks, speedboats, eagles, and an eye-pleasing collection of other exotic looking birds. Montana is known as Big Sky, simply because in this part of America, one sees A LOT of sky, which is especially pretty on a sunny day when a few puffy clouds show up, or on a clear night when the stars seem even more abundant and sparkly than usual. However, with all that said, tomorrow we pack our bags and leave Montana for Sun Valley, Idaho. Sun Valley is an exclusive part of Idaho, popular with celebrities and film stars. Among those who have second homes in Sun Valley are Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, Arnold Schwartzenegger, and Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. Sun Valley is a popular tourist destination among Americans. It’s the place to be fit and healthy. There are numerous hiking trails, cycle paths, mountains, lakes, ski slopes, rivers and creeks. So I’m looking forward to doing lots of exercise during my time here. When I’m not exercising, I plan to continue writing more books, editing books for my clients, and seeing where The Light is led to continue shining its wisdom. I’ll share more of my adventures here next month…

Dream Car - A British man has created his own Jetsons-style bubble car - partly made out of junk and based on a design he sketched in the pub. Paul Bacon, 39, from Leicester, doodled the Jetsons-style vehicle before hand-building what he believes is the first bubble-top car made in the UK. Dubbed The Cosmotron, the amazing 140mph dream machine is partly made up of cleverly disguised household objects. The steering wheel has the top of a rocket firework in its centre and a circular shower drain on the mount. Elsewhere there are moisturiser bottletops on the rear grille, a central heating system which doubles as a fake radio and John Lewis salt and pepper pots sit atop the impressive engine. The streetlegal and taxed twoseater began life in 2011 when Mr B a c o n bought a used 1998 BMW Z3 to act as a base for his design. "As this is a unique car there were obviously no parts available for it so I had to make do with what I could find that fitted the bill," he said. Mr Bacon added: "I liked the idea of creating a moving sculpture. If you build a sculpture in your back garden maybe your friends and family see it. If it's a car then everyone sees it." Miracle baby - A US woman who gave birth the day after a two hour training run didn't even know she was pregnant. Trish Staine, 33, of Duluth, Minnesota, thought her back pain was down to training for a half marathon later this month. The mother of three says she hadn't put on any weight or felt any foetal movement - and her husband had a vasectomy. But after her back pain got worse and she was taken to hospital for a check-up, she was told she was about to have a baby. She was whisked to the delivery room and in what she said seemed like five minutes later, her daughter was born, weighing 6lb 6oz. The couple are to call their baby girl, who was born about five weeks premature, Mira - short for miracle.

De Cotta Law Spain’s New Mortgage Law –Helping home owners in arrears. By De Cotta Law The economic crisis has hit Spain particularly hard and the subsequent high unemployment and economic hardship in this country has led to record levels of mortgage arrears and evictions. The recent Law 1/2013 of May 14, for mortgage holders, is intended to respond to the growing demand to help home owners that are encountering issues with their repayments, and those that might be facing possible eviction. The new law is complex but it is fair to say that it goes someway to reversing the recent trend in evictions that have led to tragic suicides and instead begins to help home owners find a solution with their lenders that means they can stay in their homes. For example, the new law offers the potential to suspend immediately and for a period of up to two years evictions in cases in which the creditor (the bank) is awarded the residence of the debtor. This exceptional measure in reality refers to owners that are at risk of social exclusion. In order for home owners to take advantage of this protection, they need to meet a number of criteria. For example, these borrowers even in negative equity, would need to continue to make some payment based on a minimum interest rate. In addition, this revised law means: • The law establishes a limitation for setting default interest, which may not exceed three times the legal interest and may only accrue on the outstanding capital. It prohibits the capitalisation of interest on arrears. •In the case of extrajudicial sale of the mortgaged property before a Notary, the sale must appear in the official gazette, so genuine bidders can make offers. •If it is considered in a court that the borrowers are being treated unfairly by their lender, the court will bring both parties to a hearing: •Costs are limited to 5% of the mortgage in arrears. •The home owner is now liable for no more than 50% of the debt of the mortgage. •For those wishing to bid for a property in arrears, the deposit is reduced from by 20% to 5%. • Once the auction is held and approved, the winning bidder has 40 days to deposit the rest of the price (previously 20). • If there are no bidders at the auction, at least 70% of the value of the mortgage must be cov-
ered where it is a primary residence. • The type of auction may not be less than 75% of the appraised value to be contained in the articles of incorporation of the mortgage loan. •The bank cannot foreclose unless the mortgage is at least 3 months in arrears. These measures are intended to make it fairer for the home owner to recover their situation in a time of crisis. It also gives home owners the right to negotiate with their bank to find a sustainable solution for their mortgage debt. The options for borrowers have been extended so that mortgage holders have the right to live in the property for two years, and pay 3% of the interest. These new measures are not applicable when there is an ongoing foreclosure proceeding and an auction date has already been agreed. Neil Armstrong In case you didn't already know this little titbit of trivia.... On July 20, 1969, as commander of the Apollo 11 lunar module, Neil Armstrong was the first person to set foot on the moon.
On July 5, 1995, in Tampa Bay, Florida, while answering questions following a speech, a reporter brought up the 26-year-old question about Mr. Gorsky to Armstrong. This time he finally responded because Mr. Gorsky had died, so Neil Armstrong felt he could now answer the question. Here is the answer to "Who was Mr. Gorsky":
His first words after stepping on the moon, "that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," were televised to earth and heard by millions. But just before he re-entered the lander, he made the enigmatic remark "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky." Many people at NASA thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival soviet cosmonaut. However, upon checking, there was no gorsky in either the Russian or American space programs. Over the years, many people questioned Armstrong as to what the - 'good luck, Mr. Gorsky' statement meant, but Armstrong always just smiled.

Using the latest advancements in inverter technology, modern air conditioners are both quieter to run and more economical to operate than conventional on/off AC units. air conditioning - is it really that expensive to run these days? The old type of on/off machines run at a constant 100% capacity as soon as they are switched on. re-gas - what’s all that about then? An air conditioning system uses a gas or liquid called a refrigerant to enable cooling and heating of your home. Over time, this refrigerant can leak from the system and will need to be replaced, or you will not get peak performance. The usual sign of this will be if the machine is not cooling very well. Equally, if too much refrigerant is added, the same problems can occur -- beware of unqualified technicians who use just a bottle

But wait, does the thought of revealing those pasty white, Pilsbury dough-boy legs with peeling skin fill you with panic? After spending months clad in boots, trousers and woolly socks, our legs need some serious TLC, and here’s where it starts. Follow these three simple steps to smooth, glowing legs that you won’t want to hide until October. 1. The first step is to de-fuzz. Whether you wax, shave or use depilatory cream, do it now. Few things are less glamorous than hairy legs, feet and toes -- unless you are a bloke, of course! Be gentle though -- nicks and scabs where you have cut yourself are equally unattractive. 2. Next, you must exfoliate. That dry flaky skin wants to leave your body, so slapping moisturiser on top is a futile exercise; you will still have that dry flaky skin the next day. Use an exfoliant which you like -- it needn’t be an expensive brand. Don’t be tempted to scrub hard with exfoliant. Think of your skin as being like the paintwork on a new car. When we are young it is polished and pristine, but like a car, through life we acquire a few dents and scratches. Every time you use anything very abrasive on the skin, you are scratching the surface, so be gentle. You wouldn’t take a Brillo pad to a brand new Ferrari -- although I do know of someone who did just that and it cost him £6000 for a respray! We cannot respray our skin, so use just enough pressure to remove dirt and dead skin cells. Moisten the skin first and use a gentle circular action, starting on your feet and working up to the top of your legs. Rinse off well, and pat skin dry with a towel. Body brushing is another good way to remove dead skin, and it improves circulation and skin tone. Use the brush on dry skin, then rinse and pat dry. 3. Many people don’t use any sun tan lotion on the legs because they believe it prevents them from getting a tan. WRONG! It is far more likely that the skin will burn. Remember, dry skin burns, moisturised skin tans. If you have followed the first two steps, you can now slap on moisturiser as often as you like, and sun tan lotions should be applied every couple of hours, even if you are not in direct sunlight. A fake tan is a good way to achieve a glow quickly, or use a moisturiser with a hint of a tan, or get a spray tan, and you’ll be beach ready! Top tip for summer: now that it is hot hot hot, find a corner of the fridge for your cleanser, toner and moisturiser, or cleansing wipes. Moisten cotton wool pads with toner and keep in a small plastic container, ready to use. Absolute bliss to use on a hot day. Keep lip and eye pencils, and lipstick, in the fridge as well to stop them melting in July and August.

All these animals have one important trait: the configuration of their teeth is similar in all of them. Some of the broadly-accepted views about the origin of our domestic dog are:

Dogs are descended from wolves and jackals, and go back to a crossing between these two animals. The theory which supports that comes from scientific comparisons of the teeth and blood proteins of wolves and dogs, and we know humans had contact with dog-like animals in the Paleolithic period. Early cave paintings have shown us evidence that humans hunted with dogs and the animals lived with the humans. Because of their adaptability, dogs were able to adjust to humans and their way of life in a manner unequalled by any other creature. Humans would have found the dog’s talents for scenting, guarding, hunting and herding of great use to them and dogs would have enjoyed the food given to them, together with a warm place by the human’s fire to sleep. So our great relationship with dogs began! If we are living with a descendant of the wolf l think it is our responsibility to understand dogs as dogs, forgetting the centuries of cross breeding that have provided us with the many breeds we now have for companionship, working ability and intelligence. However, whether they are big or small – dogs are still wolves! To understand our dogs, it makes sense to go back to where they began and understand wolves: the structure of the pack, the roles the Alpha male and female have, the way they organise, interact, educate and discipline, so they all know their place and work as a team. To learn how to understand and communicate with a dog, watch a wolf -- their use of facial expressions, body language and vocalisations. Our dogs today react to our body language, facial expressions and voices -- not so much what we say, but the way we say it; dogs do not speak our language. We can teach them by changing the tone of our voices when giving commands.

New Mum in Town - Baby’s 1st Bike Ride So, 16 months and summer is nearly here! But it hasn't half been windy! Jazmín is now at nursery every day for a couple of hours, and her list of baby vocab is growing mainly in English! Baby girl's favourite word is Teta/tetita, she just loves to shout it wherever she may be; the joy that brings to passers-by, they never tire of it.. You can imagine my horror, however, one afternoon on our beach trip when there were two (pert) ladies sunbathing topless. Horror number 1: Remembering my -- once pertiness -sigh. Horror number 2: Little J spots them and stops in her tracks. She yells "TETA" and lovingly stares (luckily ‘nearly’ toddlers can get away with a vacant stare). Drool puddles began to form and she started to march over. OH NOOOO! I jumped to my feet and grabbed her as quick as I could, before she latched onto those innocent, non-breastfeeding bosoms! So, Mummy and baby have a new summer toy. A bike with a baby bike seat. Spanish summer means no available parking and half hour delays anywhere in town, so it really is the perfect solution - and Mummy's quick bikini body fix (here's hoping).
The wind has finally died down, the bike has been fitted with a basket (for all those baby essentials) and we both have our ever-soattractive helmets. Jazmín is in her seat, and I have figured out how to get on and off -- and indeed cycle -- without either one of us falling (just about). Note to self: confidence is KEY when cycling with a baby! It's time...our first bike ride together...ready, steady, go... I had envisioned us cycling along the beach, a breeze keeping us cool, all smiles, all giggles. It didn't quite start off that way. In fact, Jazmín was crying and I was huffing and puffing (it seems that exercise has become quite alien to me), which also meant sweating and glowing... nice! However once the initial shock had subsided, we both settled and relaxed into the ride. My happy vision of a happy Mummy/baby bike ride came true :) What a great feeling! Surely, I am the luckiest Mama in the world - I get as much time as I want with my baby girl, and I get to enjoy moments like this every day. It makes all the hard times -- the sleep deprivation, the constant washing and cleaning -- worth it. Motherhood is, most definitely, the best job. More next month...

Sayalonga
To me the name seems to conjure up images of the Marlon Brando film Sayonara and on visiting its famous circular cementary I almost expected to see the graves of Kelly and Katsumi, forever together after their final Sayonara! (but that is the romantic in me!) Leaving behind Hollywood of the 1950´s and zooming full speed ahead into the year 2013 we discover that Sayalonga has stayed pretty much as it was during Arab rule with the Mudejar-style Church of Santa Catalina, which was built in the XVI Century on the site of an old mosque and the 90,000 litre water tank El Ventorillo del Aljibe. One of the most important Arabic poets Mohamed Al-Hasmi, who wrote a poem about Mecca, was born at the Arab settlement, Batahiz, the ruins of which can still be seen beside this water tank. Other places of interest in this village that has been twinned with Piaggine in Italy, are the Ermita of San Cayetano, situated next to the church. There is a statue of the saint inside the Ermita which is thought to have been built around XVII. However, Sayalonga´s real claim to fame is the aforementioned circular cemetery, possibly the only one of its kind in Spain. Apparently it has more than 3,000 visitors a year making it one of the most visited architectural monuments in the Axarquía. To find out more about this incredible place, go to the Tourist Of-

fice and ask for the key to the Interpretation Centre which can be found at the entrance to the cemetery, it gives the history and origins of the construction. A good place to take a photograph of the cemetery is from the Mirador, on the road leading down the hill at the beginning of the village, you cannot miss it as you drive down from the direction of Cómpeta. Another fame to claim in Sayalonga is the street of La Alcuza which is the narrowest to be found in the Axarquía at only 55cm at its closest point! It is situated near the Plaza de la Constitution by the tourist office and church. The village is quite small, so you won´t get lost! Before you leave, do visit the Fountain of Cid. It provided the main supply of water to the Arabs and was named for El Cid Campeador, (real name Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar) a Castilian nobleman, military leader and diplomat who conquered and governed the city of Valencia, but not before having drunk of the water in Sayalonga! The village is situated just 9 kilometres up the hill from Algarrobo Costa, 41 kilometres east of Malaga, it is on the Axarquía route of Sun and Wine. A good day to visit, if you like the sweet and sour Nispero (the paradise fruit of the Axarquía) is the first Sunday of May when the fruit is harvested and a good time is had by all, or another festival is on 7th October when the Patron Saint of Sayalonga, La Señora del Rosario, is given thanks for the years harvest. Whenever you visit the village you will be given a warm welcome by the locals and there are plenty of bars and restaurants where you can sit and while away the afternoon before saying Sayonara to Sayalonga and driving back down the mountain to the motorway at Algarrobo.

Right now, I’m feeling a little unsettled. Here I am, in the middle of the United States of America, far away from my home in Spain, and I’m having to exercise faith and trust, both of which are topics widely explored in The Light: A Book of Wisdom. A few days ago my boyfriend and I heard that we’ll be homeless as of Sunday, no longer able to stay in the house where we were previously living. That means we have just four more days to find the perfect abode. Yesterday, as we were looking, I saw a 333, a rainbow and a white butterfly, all of which are signs I look out for to show that Spirit is with me and that I’m on the right path. So, even though I have no doubt that come Sunday we’ll have a place to live, there’s still that inner feeling of anxiety. Plus, it’s kind of nice to feel settled, especially when I’m used to a daily meditation, chanting and yoga routine, a very healthy diet, plus many business and book related plans to spark into action. We all go through these periods in our life, where having faith is the key, and the lesson is always the same. Trust God. Have faith. Look out for the signs. Know that you’re looked after and that everything will be ok. All is well. You are safe. Take these messages with you throughout every ‘today’ and watch the miracles begin to happen. The Light is always with you!

Bacon and Broccoli Salad This salad has the most amazing taste, perfect for a packed lunch or picnic.

Flair: Fine fruity with a scent of the used spice, coriander and bitter orange.
Method: 1. Cook the bacon until crispy, cool, drain and crumble.

Lake Vinuela Social Club
Lake Vinuela Social Club held a BBQ at Scirocco's chill out bar Puente don Manuel on the 30th May. It was attended by 31 members who brought their own food and drinks, the talented BBQ chefs Chris Morton and Harvey Blair cooked the food to perfection. After all had eaten there were several egg and spoon races which were very scrupulous as some contestants seemed to be holding their eggs on with one thumb, then followed music and dancing by DJ David Lawrie, a surprise guest appearance by Alan Miles (Neil Diamond Tribute) finished the afternoon off with a good sing along.

Up Up And Away!! Would you believe it all started with Kami and Keidi going for a flight in a hot air balloon with Graham and writing an article in The Sentinella. “If you are interested in joining Graham and his team give him a ring,” it read. “Are you interested” I asked him indoors…. ‘him’ who wouldn’t even go up in the cable car at Gibraltar for a wedding reception, and got a taxi up to the top instead. ‘Him’ who closes his eyes when we go over a bridge and drives on automatic pilot. “Yes,” he said and rang Graham. Well I fell about laughing. “Guess what” I told the family, “himself is going hot air ballooning.” We all fell about laughing, but the laugh was on us, because that is just what he did. Up he went in the balloon and was hooked. He came back from that trip with white knuckles, knotted insides and a desire to do it again and again and again, which he has done. He even joined the team for a balloon festival in Portugal and is off to Barcelona and Italy in July. Graham, the owner of the balloon, is a businessman in UK and has a home here in Spain. He not only balloons in the UK but all over Europe, including the Alps; one time he reached the dizzy heights of 25,000 feet. Me? “Never,” I said. “This is your hobby, not mine, so get on with it.” Get on with it he did and he is now one of Graham’s regular crew; he even roped in our friend Colin. Last week, Graham announced he was coming over and up they were going. Not enough
crew members as it was Colin’s first flight, so ‘himself’ wanted a navigator for the retrieving. “No, no, no” I said. He wore me down and away we went. We were up before the crack of dawn and when we all met up I couldn’t even get in the Landcruiser without a pull. After coffee at Antequera and a balloon had been let off to see which way the wind was blowing, the dawn had risen and off we went. Everyone went to their jobs while I stood around like the proverbial spare **** at a wedding. But I did take photographs. Off the balloon went. ‘Himself’ showed me the map and my heart sank. I know I will lose them, I thought. “If you shout at me, I will get in the back and you can retrieve yourself,” I said. Well he didn’t and off we went. First hamlet, couldn’t find the right road so had to double back and off we went again. It was great fun, trying to keep the balloon in our sight at the same time as watching where we were driving. We succeeded, but no thanks to the Spanish map system which was not up to date with the numbering of their roads. Eventually the balloon landed and all systems go again to pack it all back up and off for breakfast. This time I did make myself useful and lent a hand here and there, which was great but hard work.. We had a Spanish audience on the landing with a man and his son watching the whole performance. Am I hooked? Well put it this way, I will retrieve again, if asked and needed, but don’t think I will fly. But who knows?
