m Fro Ed... the
Welcome to the March edition of The Sentinella Axarquia. As I write this editorial,
there are only four areas which still have a complete closure in the Malaga province — there are a few more with boundary closures but generally speaking, most areas are now back open for business. Let’s hope people are staying sensible and we can keep it that way. At the moment, we are in times when I guess any saving on a product is a good thing. This month I will tell you about how I changed my mobile contract a few months ago from a well-known company to a not-so-well-known one, but Lobster is becoming more and more popular with English-speaking people daily. With my old contract, I never knew exactly what the amount would be as text messages weren’t included in my plan, nor were calls abroad so I often ended up with an unwelcome shock.
Three months ago I changed to Lobster — a totally English-speaking network which is available in English on its app and website. There are three plans, ranging from 12 euros a month with 6gb to 24 euros a month with 35gb; I chose the medium plan which is 18 euros a month with 18gb of data. This includes unlimited texts and calls within Spain, as well as to the UK and various other countries. There is no contract either, so I’m not tied in for years, and the 18 euros also includes IVA! Therefore my bill will remain at 18 euros, although I do believe that from 1st April, the billing will be every 28 days instead of a calandar month. However Lobster has given everyone more gb usage, 8, 18 or 35gb so will remain highly competitive against other companies.

Lockdown lunacy A man has been fined after claiming he drove 300 miles in lockdown to take pictures of planets from Snowdon. Police were called to reports to two men lying on the ground by the side of the road in Betws-y-Coed and when they arrived, Filip Petrik, 31, tried to remove one of their face masks. He then proceeded to walk around in just his underpants, ignoring any instructions given to him, slurring his speech and appearing unsteady. He was taken to St Asaph police station to sober up and the following morning, said that he had driven from Southampton two days earlier to do some photography as the “Great Conjunction” with Jupiter and Saturn was taking place during Petrik’s planned stay in North Wales. He claimed not to know what tier his home city was in and was unaware that travel to Wales had been banned. Petrik was fined a total of £745 for being drunk and disorderly and £500 for breaching Covid regulations.
Dem bones… Investigators have been called in after several bones were found at a pub while construction work was taking place. Police went to the Picture House – a branch of Wetherspoon – in Bridge Street, Stafford, after receiving a call from builders at the site. The construction work was being done just weeks after the building was flooded for the second time in just over a year. The bones have been taken away to be analysed by forensics experts, but early indications suggest that they may belong to an animal.

Strange News (Continued)
Surfing safari A duck has taken to surfing like... well, like a duck to water. The adventurous bird has worked out that it can catch waves and make its way onto the beach without having to paddle. Eight month old Duck (that is his name) has become a popular sight on Rainbow Bay on the Gold Coast, Australia, since his family adopted him when he was just a few hours old. He even has his own Instagram account. Owner Kate Miller told the BBC: ‘I would be confident in saying he is the only duck like it in the world. We’d catch a wave and he’d just follow us and realised it was fun.’ Her son Tom Thomson added: ‘When he gets tired he jumps onto people’s boards. He could spend up to two hours out there. ‘He makes everybody happy.’ Duck hasn’t had his feathers cut so would be able to fly away – but chooses to stick around.
MANZ PVC WINDOWS & DOORS
Hear anything? A man who woke up struggling to breathe was stunned when it turned out he had swallowed an AirPod in his sleep. Brad Gauthier, 38, from Worcester, Massachusetts, knew something had gone wrong after he was left gagging while attempting to drink a glass of water after waking up early. It later emerged that one of his tiny wireless headphones had become wedged in his oesophagus. Despite this, Brad soldiered on through the day, not realising the severity of what had happened overnight. However, the pieces started to come together after family — including his wife, Heather, 32 and son Owen, 15 — joked after helping look for the missing earbud and hearing something was wrong with his throat, suggesting that maybe he had swallowed it. After arriving at hospital, X-rays soon showed what was wrong. It emerged he had been incredibly lucky as the AirPod somehow had become wedged in a position that had prevented it from causing serious damage.

The Philippines has 7,641 islands with only 2,000 of them inhabited and nearly 5,000 still unnamed on global maps. The Philippines is the top supplier of nurses in the world, with about 25% of all overseas nurses coming from the country.
While most of their Southeast Asian neighbors practice Buddhism, the Philippines is the only Asian nation that's predominantly Christian, with 90% practicing that religion (and about 80% of its population, Roman Catholic) because of its Spanish colonial influence. The country suffered one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history on June 15, 1991, when Mt. Pinatubo erupted only a couple hours from Manila. The blast was so powerful that it shot 10 billion metric tons of magma and 20 million tons of toxic sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere, 25 miles high.
Filipinos spend more time each day on Social Media than any other country in the world. Three of the 10 largest shopping malls in the world are located in the Philippines.

What’s New This Month
This month we welcome the mobile phone company Lobster, the all-in-English mobile provider. If your mobile contract is coming up for renewal, then it’s time to consider changing to Lobster. To make your life easier, everything is in English — the app, the website, customer service and even the bills. Just choose the bundle size that’s right for you. All packages come with unlimited texts and calls within Spain, to the UK, Denmark, Germany, Gibraltar, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and the United States. If that isn’t enough, included is either 8gb, 18gb or 35gb of data for 12, 18 or 24 euros every 28 days respectively. Please note that Spanish premium numbers and special numbers like 901 and 902 aren’t included in the plans, and are charged for. Another benefit with Lobster is that there are no commitments — you pay every 28 days and can stop and start as you please. You can also change to a larger or smaller plan anytime, free of charge. There is no contract to tie you down! Set up is really simple and if you go back to the UK for a few months, or come on holiday to Spain a few times a year, you can set it up and then 'park' the number
too for up to 12 months. Lobster really has it all covered, and at that price, surely it’s worth a change? See main advert on page 17 or pop into their flagship store for SIM cards ‘Second Time Around’ at the Puente don Manuel crossroads or call 658 375 603 We also welcome ‘Solveit’ a company that will help to solve your everyday problems from translations to paperwork and from property management to more stressful matters like squatters. The increase in squatters in the last couple of years is becoming more and more worrying for home owners, especially ones who are not always at their property. Solveit can help avoid squatters in your home by visiting your property whilst you are away, collecting post, opening windows, checking for damage and forced entry etc.. They are waiting to help you. See main advert on page 14. If you have a business in the Axarquia region and would like to promote it so it’s in the hands of our readers, contact us on 664 210 468 or E: sales@thesentinella.com We look forward to promoting and distributing your advert throughout Axarquia!

Limericks
A limerick is a five line poem, usually funny and sometime a little rude :)
Linda Blair with great favour confessed, She'd been exorcised, thus finding rest, But alack and alas, Her old demon came back, and now the poor girl's repossessed. -------------------------------------------------------------There once was a sculptor named Phideous, Whose sculptures by most were thought hideous, He carved Aphrodite, Without even a nightie, Which shocked all the fussy fastidious. -------------------------------------------------------------'Tis a favourite project of mine, A new value of pi to assign, I would fix it at 3, For it's simpler, you see, Than 3 point 1 4 1 5 9. -------------------------------------------------------------There was a young girl from Rabat, who had triplets, Nat, Pat and Tat; It was fun in the breeding, But hell in the feeding,
23
When she found she had no tit for Tat. -------------------------------------------------------------A macho young swimmer named Dwyer, Really liked playing with fire, One night in the dark, He swam with a shark, And his voice is now two octaves higher. -------------------------------------------------------------There once was a young man named Cyril, Who was had in a wood by a squirrel, And he liked it so good, That he stayed in the wood, Just as long as the squirrel stayed virile. -------------------------------------------------------------I met a lewd nude in Bermuda, Who thought she was shrewd:I was shrewder, She thought it quite crude, To be wooed in the nude; I pursued her, subdued her, and screwed her. -------------------------------------------------------------God’s plan made a hopeful beginning, But man spoiled his chances by sinning, We trust that the story, Will end in God’s glory, But at present the other side’s winning.

Pre-School Test
This question does have a correct answer. Note: It is not a trick question.
(Q) In which direction is the bus travelling?
“The bus is travelling to the left.”
When asked: “Why do you think the bus is travelling to the left?” They answered: “Because you can’t see the door to get on the bus.” Feel like banging the wall with your head? I do!
To the left or to the right?
Can’t make up your mind?
Look carefully at the picture again. Still don’t know?
A sample group of pre-schoolers in the Spain were shown this picture and were asked the same question. Ninety per cent of the pre-schoolers gave this answer:

Out And About In Torrox
Torrox is the name of a collection of locations situated east of Torre Del Mar. This is a popular spot to live and holiday for both Spanish and other European nations with one big factor being it has the best climate in Europe. Each of these places have much to offer in their own right and collectively, they form a lovely area to live, work and relax. Torrox Costa is located just 15km from Torre Del Mar. Torrox Costa has a totally different character and personality to its near neighbour. Like much of this coast, there’s an impressive promenade that sweeps the length of the beaches here. At its eastern end, just past the lighthouse, the beach is dog friendly and is a great spot to let your furry friend run along the shoreline.
Torrox Pueblo is situated at the foothills of the Alpujarra mountains, a couple of miles inland from Torrox Costa. This is traditional white-washed village set in a green valley. There’s a traditional Spanish feel to this small village, despite it being the home to many people from other parts of the world. Located between Torrox Costa and Pueblo, Torrox Park is a large collection of urbanisations that are popular relocation spots with those who decide to make this area of Axarquía their home. There’s property to suit every budget and style: spacious villas, townhouses and apartments along with a large and well equipped mobile home park that allows all year living. Whilst, in itself, Torrox Park, doesn’t offer much for day trippers, many visitors stay here as homes are frequently listed for holiday rental. It does provide all the services required for a smooth stay or relocation: bars, restaurants, supermarkets as well as doctors, chemists, hairdressers etc.
The combination of Torrox Costa, Pueblo and Park is a winning one. Each has their own distinct character but each are connected to form an excellent place to stay, explore and maybe even to live. Shop Local - Support Your Local Community

Romantic Odes
…(Not!)
My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife: Marrying you screwed up my life.
I see your face when I am dreaming. That's why I always wake up screaming. Kind, intelligent, loving and hot; This describes everything you’re not.
Love may be beautiful, love may be bliss, But I only slept with you cause I was pissed.
39
But don't take that paper bag off your face. I love your smile, your face, and your eyes – Damn, I'm good at telling lies!
My love, you take my breath away. What have you stepped in to smell this way? My feelings for you no words can tell. Except for maybe "Go to hell.” "What inspired this amorous rhyme? Two parts vodka, one part lime
I thought that I could love no other, That is until I met your brother.
Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you. But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty and so is your head. I wait to feel your sweet embrace;

Non-Lucrative Visas And Golden Visa To Live In Spain
For British nationals who wish to reside in Spain there are a number of options. Non-Lucrative visas are for those who do not wish to work in Spain and can show evidence of income and have private medical care. Golden visas are for those with monies to invest in property and or other investments. With the travel restrictions in place each case is different, as some British citizens may have arrived in Spain at the end of December and can remain until March. However, others may have to return to London to take the first steps. With the new procedure, the first application can be made online by our specialist lawyer. The application is made to the Spanish Consulate in London who will then issue a fixed appointment for you to attend in person with the original documentation, copies of which will have been scanned to them by our lawyer. The Spanish authorities will answer, normally within a month to six weeks, as to whether your application has been successful. If so, you return to have your passport stamped with the visa (visado) which allows you to come to Spain to rent or buy property, and to apply for a Certificate from the Town hall and attend a local police station where your residence card will be issued. This will be valid for one year and renewable for two thereafter. You will need to be able to prove income in the region of 28,000€ for the main applicant and an additional 600€ (approximately) monthly for economic dependants. You will also need private medical insurance and there are some other requirements which we can advise you on.
Please bear in mind that if the application is not made correctly the request can be refused and you will not be reimbursed the visa fee which is currently 516 GBP for the Non-Lucrative visa. An appeal can be made online and this is why it is important to work with our specialist lawyers registered with the Spanish authorities.
PLEASE NOTE THAT AS THIS IS A NEW PROCEDURE THERE MAY BE SOME CHANGES IN THE NEAR FUTURE, AND WITH THE PANDEMIC THERE ARE DELAYS AND TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS. WE
41
WILL BE KEEPING ALL OUR CLIENTS ADVISED OF ANY CHANGES.
At present, those who can show they have the Green Card residency or the new TIE can return to Spain from the UK and all passengers (excluding children under the age of six) travelling to Spanish airports from the UK are required to present a negative PCR, TNA or LAMP test taken within no more than 72 hours prior to arrival, in order to enter the country. Each individual’s case is different and at De Cotta Law we can advise further on your situation and keep you updated on all legal issues that affect you as residents or new residents and applicants for residency.

Are You Ready To Have Children?
43
Ready For Kids Are you considering having children? To determine whether you are truly prepared for the experience, we suggest you take this set of simple tests...
NIGHT TEST: Prepare by obtaining a small cloth bag and fill it with 8 to 12 pounds of sand. Soak it thoroughly in water. At 8:00 pm begin to waltz and hum with the bag until 9:00 pm. Lay down your bag and set your alarm for 10:00 pm. Get up, pick up your bag, and sing every song you have ever heard. Make up about a dozen more and sing these too until 4:00am,. Set alarm for 5:00am. Get up and make breakfast. Keep this up for five years. Look cheerful.
TOY TEST: Obtain a 55-gallon box of Lego bricks. (If Lego bricks are not available, you may substitute roofing tacks or broken bottles.) Have a friend spread them all over the house. Put on a blindfold. Try to walk to the bathroom or kitchen. Do not scream (this could wake a child at night).
PHYSICAL TEST (WOMEN) Obtain a large beanbag chair and attach it to the front of your clothes. Leave it there for 9 months. Now remove 10% of the beans.
MESS TEST: Smear peanut butter on the sofa and curtains. Now rub your hands in the wet flower bed and rub on the walls. Cover the stains with crayons. Place a fish stick behind the couch and leave it there all summer.
GROCERY STORE TEST: Borrow one or two small animals (goats are best) and take them with you as you shop at the grocery store. Always keep them in sight and pay for anything they eat or damage. DRESSING TEST: Obtain one large, unhappy, live octopus. Stuff into a small net bag making sure that all arms stay inside. FEEDING TEST: Obtain a large plastic milk jug. Fill halfway with water. Suspend from the ceiling with a stout cord. Start the jug swinging. Try to insert spoonfuls of soggy cereal (such as Fruit Loops or Cheerios) into the mouth of the jug while pretending to be an airplane. Now dump the contents of the jug on the floor.
FINAL ASSIGNMENT: Find a couple who already have a small child. Lecture them on how they can improve their discipline, patience, tolerance, toilet training, and child's table manners. Suggest many ways they can improve. Emphasise to them that they should never allow their children to run riot. Enjoy this experience. It will be the last time you will have all the answers.

Halting Erosion Using Vetiver From Vetiver Spain
Our Nursery is open by appointment only depending on the current travel restrictions. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa. Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now.
We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture. Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites. In these 2 photos you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge Here is a link to a short video showing the results. https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.
To see more images of Vetiver go to this link. https://www.vetiverspain.org/photo-gallery.html Presently we have some specials, which include free shipping to numerous locations
For more information please contact us. Please visit us or visit our website: www.vetiverspain.com email: info@vetiverspain.com Telephone: (34) 692 288 657

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes!
Kids really do say the funniest things, as you will realise with this little collection
2 year old Kenny carried over a photo album with a cut-out cover to show the top photo inside. It was a picture of his dad holding him on the day he was born. Kenny said, "Look, Daddy! Here's a picture of you holding a baby of me!" ----------------------------------------------------When my son was in preschool and one of the students became ill with chickenpox, the teacher asked if anyone else had ever had chickenpox. He raised his hand and said, "No, but I've had Cocoa Pops." ----------------------------------------------------A very dirty little fellow came in from playing in the yard and asked his mother, "Who am I?” Ready to play the game, she said, "I don't know! Who are you?" "WOW!" cried the child. "Mrs. Johnson was right! She said I was so dirty, my own mother wouldn't recognise me!"

Mum-isms
Things mum’s can often be overheard saying, also known as ‘mum-isms’… How many have you said?! All I do is follow you around, picking up after you like some maid. Am I talking to a brick wall?
Are you deaf or something? Are you lying to me?
As long as you live under my roof, you'll do as I say. Beds are NOT made for jumping on.
Call me when you get there, just so I know you're okay. Close the door! You don't live in a barn. Did you brush your teeth? Did you comb your hair?
Do as I say, not as I do.
Do you think I'm made of money?
Do you think your socks are going to pick themselves up?
Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. Don't eat that, you'll get worms! Don't make me get up!
Don't pick that scab, it'll get infected. Don't pick your nose in public. Don't run in the house.
57
Don't sit too close to the television, it'll ruin your eyes. Did you comb your hair?
Don't talk with your mouth full!
Don't walk away when I'm talking to you! Eat your vegetables, they're good for you. Enough is enough! Go play outside! It's a beautiful day! Going to a party? Leave a phone number in case I need to call.
Going to a party? Who's going to be there?
Sales I Rentals I Management Do you want to sell your property this year? We know it has been difficult during the pandemic. But – there is now light at the end of the tunnel. People in places like the UK are so ‘fed-up’ that they can’t wait to get out to Spain. It won’t be this month, but it could be very soon. So ‘be prepared’ for a mass influx of buyers. The UK government aims to vaccinate all UK residents over the age of 50 by May, before expanding out to the rest of the population by Autumn. (As at the middle of February, over 15 million have already been vaccinated). Holiday firms have seen massive bookings already for this summer, particularly for the over 50s who are, of course, the main buyers here on the Costa del Sol. We have geared our marketing activit y for 2021 around these facts. We now have plenty of time to list new properties.
Don’t miss out. Call us NOW for a FREE valuation!

The Four Smart Students One night four college students were out partying late at night and didn’t study for the test which was scheduled for the next day. In the morning, they thought of a plan. They made themselves look dirty with grease and dirt. Then they went to the head teacher and said they went to a wedding reception last night and on their way back the tyre on their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back. So they were in no condition to take the test.
The head teacher thought for a minute and said they can have the re-test after 3 days. They thanked him and said they will be ready by that time. On the third day, they appeared before the head teacher. The head teacher said that as this was a Special Condition Test, all four were required to sit in separate classrooms for the test. They all agreed as they had prepared well in the last 3 days. The Test consisted of only 2 questions with the total of 100 Points. 1) Your Name __________ (1 Points)
2) Which tyre burst? __________ (99 Points) Options – (a) Front Left (b) Front Right (c) Back Left (d) Back Right
Moral: Be Responsible else you too will learn your lesson! Baby Camel and Mother A mother and a baby camel were lying around, and suddenly the baby camel asked, “Mother, may I ask you some questions?” The mother said, “Sure! Why son, is there
something bothering you?”
Baby said, “Why do camels have humps?” The mother said, “Well son, we are desert animals, we need the humps to store water and we are known to survive without water.” Baby said, “Okay, then why are our legs long and our feet rounded?”
The mother said, “Son, obviously they are meant for walking in the desert. You know with these legs I can move around the desert better than anyone does!”
Baby said, “Okay, then why are our eyelashes long? Sometimes it bothers my sight.” Mother with pride said, “My son, those long thick eyelashes are your protective cover. They help to protect your eyes from the desert sand and wind.” Baby after thinking said, “I see. So the hump is to store water when we are in the desert, the legs are for walking through the desert and these eyelashes protect my eyes from the desert than what in god’s name are we doing here in the Zoo!?” Moral: Skills, knowledge, abilities and experiences are only useful if you are at the right place.
The circle of life Once a highly successful businessman, running a health insurance company was getting ready to go to his office. When he reached into his car and opened a door, a stray dog sleeping under his car suddenly came out and bit his leg! The businessman got very angry and quickly picked up a few rocks and threw them at the dog but none hit the dog. The dog ran away. (Continued opposite)

Sentinella Fables (Continued)
Upon reaching his office, the businessman calls a meeting of his managers and during the meeting he puts the anger of dog on them. The managers also get upset by the anger of their boss and they put their anger to the employees working under them. The chain of this reaction keeps going till the lower level of employees and finally, the anger reaches to the office boy. Now, there was no one working under the boy! So, after the office time is over, he reaches his home, and wife opens the door. She asked him, “Why are you so late today?” The boy upset due to anger threw at him by the staff, slaps his wife and says, “I didn’t go to the office to play football, I went to work so don’t irritate me with your stupid questions!” The wife got so upset that she got a scolding plus a slap for no reason, she puts her anger on their son who was watching TV and give
67
him a slap, “This is all you do, you have no you have no interest in studying! Turn off the TV now!”
The son gets upset now! He walks out of his house and sees a dog passing by looking at him. He picks up a rock and hits the dog. The dog, getting hit by the rock, runs away barking in pain. This was the same dog that bit the businessman early this morning.
Moral: This was bound to happen. Reap as one has sown. This is how the life works. While we all worry about hell and heaven based on our deeds, we should concentrate more on how we are living and behaving. Do Good, Good will come, Do Wrong, Wrong will come.

A taxi passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question. The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath and stopped centimetres from a shop window. For a second everything went quiet in the cab, then the elderly driver turned and said 'Look son, don't ever do that again, you scared the daylights out of me!' The passenger apologised and said, 'I didn't realise that a little tap would scare you so much.'

& t i Fru Facts ies Veg eberr Blu
Blueberries are perennial flowering plants which first appear green and deepen to purple or blue as they ripen. They are low in calories but high in nutrients.
Blueberries are one of the few fruits native to North America, they grow above ground on bushes.
There are two main types of blueberries, highbush blueberries and lowbush. Highbush are the most common cultivated variety in the US. Lowbush or “wild” blueberries are typically smaller and richer in some antioxidants. Blueberries are packed with antioxidants and phytoflavinoids, these berries are also high in potassium and vitamin C, making them the top choice of doctors and nutritionists. Not only can they lower your risk of heart disease and cancer, they are also anti-inflammatory.
Eating one cup of fresh blueberries a day contains 85 calories, 1 gram of protein, no fat, and about 20 grams of carbohydrate, with roughly 4 grams as fibre and reduces risk factors for cardiovascular disease. A new study shows rats who ate a diet rich in blueberries lost abdominal fat, the kind of fat linked to heart disease and diabetes.
Blueberries (and other berries such as raspberries and blackberries) are an excellent source of vitamin C, which helps protect cells against damage and aids in the absorption of iron. Blueberries can also help towards helping your vision and protecting against age-related
macular degeneration. They improve blood and oxygen flow to the eyes and combat free radicals which cause cataract and macular degeneration.
If you eat blueberries too frequently, this can contribute to staining and darkening your teeth. So eat in moderation if you want a nice white smile!
Blueberries are great for freezing, just spread the berries out on a baking sheet and place in the freezer until frozen. Once frozen, put them in a plastic bag for storage.

Algarrobo Costa And Algarrobo Pueblo
There are so many beautiful towns in the Axarquia area that we live in. This month we take a look at Algarrobo
Algarrobo Costa and Pueblo are nestled in the hills but with a coastline setting, which makes it a perfect mix. A mere 35km from Malaga but a world away from the busy city, it’s the perfect place to unwind and relax. Algarrobo Costa and Pueblo are too close to be distinguished from each other. The Pueblo retains its Moorish past with narrow streets and its hillside setting makes it a delightful place to explore. Its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea means it’s an ideal location for those who love the beach but also like the idea of village life. This is a village full of history and exploration. The Necropolis of Trayamar is a complex of paleo-punic tombs and many of the objects found in the tombs can be seen in the Museo Arqueológico Provincial de Málaga.
Blue Flag Beach Award in 2019 Whilst on the coast of Algarrobo, there are two watchtowers which reminds us of a time when they were needed to warn of possible enemy invasions. One tower originates from Arabic times and the other dates from the sixteenth century indicating the turbulent past of this now very calm and relaxed resort. The seventeenth century, Iglesia de Santa Ana is a beautiful building and monument
from Algarrobo's religious architecture. The bell tower is one of its most notable features. Whilst the Ermita de la Virgen de las Angustias and the Ermita de San Sebastián are also worth viewing.
The black and gravel sands of Algarrobo Costa are a perfect place to spend the day. The beach is wide and earned a Blue Flag award in 2019. The wide waterfront promenade set back from the road is a perfect place to stroll and enjoy a coffee, cocktail or ice cream from one of the many chirunguitos or bars that line the walkway. In addition, free car parking makes this beach an even more attractive proposition. Whilst this is an urban beach, the fact that it is 800-metre long and 20-metre wide makes it a perfect place to escape the crowds of its nearby neighbours. (Continued opposite)

Algarrobo Costa And Algarrobo Pueblo (Continued)
This is also a great place to enjoy some of the best and freshest seafood on the coast. Restaurants with expansive terraces offer a huge variety of seafood some cooked over coals, others fried but all delicious. It is hard to recommend a single place as all are crowded for good reason! The proximity of Pueblo to Costa means that all tastes are catered for as the Pueblo serves other specialties with lamb and pork featuring heavily. One unique product of the area is the Torta de Algarrobo. This cake is of Arab origin and combines oil, flour and spices. Fiestas and Ferias which last three long days and nights Festivals feature a lot in the lively community of Algarrobo Costa and Pueblo. August is a busy month with the Feria celebrated this month and lasts three long days and nights

with flamenco, dancing, eating and drinking. This Axarquía town has the Noche Flamenca in September, with performances by top flamenco artists and lots of dancing. The procesión de San Sebastián in January is accompanied by the noisy 'cohetá' or lighting of firecrackers. There are lots of smaller festivals throughout the year.Whenever you decide to visit Algarrobo, you’ll not be disappointed. It’s perfect combination of beach and mountains, along with lots of hikes outside of the town make it an ideal place to stay throughout the year. The excellent choice of restaurants, the laid back atmosphere and the many festivals make it an incredibly attractive destination in the increasingly popular Axarquía region.
Worth a day trip out as and when we can!

Property Issues: Damp In Houses
Prepare in advance, as in the summer, damp issues are often undetectable
Damp walls and water ingress is a very common problem with Spanish properties. The majority of properties are purchased during the rain free summer months, and so the potential new owner is often unaware of the problem.
Very few houses in Andalusia are built using a damp course during the construction process, the reason for this is that the Town Halls did not in the past enforce strict planning regulations and the Architects seldom visited the building sites to insist on the correct procedures. Sadly, seldom will you find any property over 10 years old having a damp course. The lack of a damp course will result in rising damp through the concrete base and up the walls. This is often masked and disguised by walls being covered with ceramic tiles or stone cladding on the exterior and interior ceramic tiles, and the building painted on an annual basis in the spring months when the walls have dried out. The unsuspecting buyer therefore is oblivious to the defects until the
79
following autumn when the rains resume. Several other factors will determine how prone to damp the house is. These will include the underlaying soil type, free draining or clay based; the position of the property on the land, on a rise or in a hollow; the direction of the prevailing wind and if guttering is installed, to direct the rain water away from the property and to prevent water splashing back onto the walls after dropping from the roof. The effects of unsightly flaking paint, damp smells and possibility of mould which will be harmful to your health, are all issues that can be eliminated.
LT Construction are experts in damp proofing of properties, the most effective and economical process used is to remove the exterior render and interior plasterwork to a height of 1.30 metres. We then apply a silicon sealant to the brickwork and then apply a waterproof render on the outside of the property and a waterproof plaster on the interior, creating a waterproof barrier. Once dry, these products can then be painted over eliminating the adverse effects of water ingress. See main advert below

Film
Director: Steven Soderbergh Writer: Scott Z Burns Cast: Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Griffin Kane, Jude Law, Kate Winslet Rating: PG-13 Running time 1h 46min Available on Amazon Prime, Hulu, iTunes and other streaming services.
This Steven Soderbergh drama predicted — in eyebrow-raising, scientifically rigorous, this-could-be-happening-to-you detail — exactly what’s been happening to us over the last year, and makes for compulsive viewing. Matt Damon, as run-of-the-mill Minnesota guy Mitch Emhoff, sits in a hospital talking to
Kate Winslet, who plays the epidemic intelligence officer investigating the spread of a mysterious virus. Emhoff’s wife, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, was one of the first people to catch the virus and die. In case he thought his mood couldn’t get any lower, Winslet’s investigator has news for him: It seems that the virus may have passed between Paltrow’s Beth and someone she saw during a layover in Chicago — the man she was having a relationship with before she got married. The film charts the ways a virus takes over a society, eating away at it from the inside. Coronavirus is a scary sickness, but it has ratcheted up the everydaynightmare quality of our lives and “Contagion” taps into all of that. It does, however have a message of hope at the end.
It’s certainly not a movie for the faint-hearted, but it is a compelling, cleverly contrived plot which cannot fail to grip the attention. Star Rating ****/*****

Kid’s Words
Kids really do say the funniest things, as you will realise with this little collection
My two-year-old cousin scared us one summer by disappearing during our lakeside vacation. More than a dozen relatives searched the forest and shoreline, and everyone was relieved when we found Matthew playing calmly in the woods. "Listen to me!" his mother said sharply. "From now on when you want to go somewhere, you tell Mummy first, okay?" Matthew thought about that for a moment and said, "Okay, Disney World."

Out shopping, my friend Darin noticed a mother with three little girls and a baby. The woman's patience was wearing thin as all the girls called "Mama" while she tried to shop. Finally, Darin heard her say, "I don't want to hear the word MAMA for at least five minutes." A few seconds went by, then one girl tugged on her mum's skirt and said, "Excuse me, miss."
The restaurant where I took my two sons for a meal was crowded with fans watching a sporting event on television. The harried waitress took our order, lots of food passed with no sign of ours. I was trying to keep my kids from becoming restless when suddenly shouts of victory came from the bar. "Hey," commented my 11-year-old, "It sounds as if someone just got his food."

Once Upon A Time
“The World’s shortest Fairy Tale!”
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl "Will you marry me?" The girl said, "NO!" And the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping, dancing, camping, drank Martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, did whatever the hell she wanted, never argued, didn't get fat, travelled more, had many lovers, didn't save money, and had all the hot water to herself. She went to the theatre, never watched sports, never wore friggin' lacy lingerie that went up her ass, had high self esteem, never cried or yelled, felt and looked fabulous in sweat pants and was pleasant all the time. St. Patrick’s Day Facts
The Real St. Patrick Was Born in Britain. He was born to Roman parents in Scotland or Wales in the late 4th century. At 16, he was brought to Ireland as a slave. He escaped six years later and became a priest.
Your odds of finding a four-leaf clover are about 1 in 10,000.
To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Chicago dyes the river green for a few hours.
It has become a popular holiday in the united States. People wear green and eat corned beef and cabbage. March 17, 461 AD - St. Patrick died.
It is believed St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland. However, post-glacial Ireland never actually had snakes. Many believe that the term “snakes” referred to the serpent symbolism of the Druids of that time and place. Today, there are no snakes to be found! Most people, whether they are Irish or not, wear green on this day. One of the Irish traditions is to pinch anyone who is not wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day.
There are reportedly more than 13 million pints of Guinness being consumed on Saint Patrick’s Day alone.
From 1903 - 1970, most bars and pubs were closed on Saint Patrick’s Day because it was a considered religious holiday (or a “Dry Holiday”).
In Ireland, St. Patrick's Day is a national holiday with banks, stores and businesses closing for the day.
Shamrocks are the national flower/emblem of Ireland.

Khan Covid KO Amir Khan has been accused of breaking lockdown rules after taking a ‘230-mile round trip’ to Coventry. The professional boxer, 34, travelled to upmarket restaurant The Farmhouse from his home in Bolton and was seen going against social distancing guidelines as he posed for a photograph with two fans. The photo was shared on social media by the restaurant’s Instagram account, where they were seen confirming Amir had stopped by to use their current drive-thru service. Alongside the snap of Amir posing with his arm around two others, the caption read: ‘We were very busy yesterday for our Exclusive Drive Thru but the highlight of the night was @amirkingkhan came through yesterday!’ The post has since been deleted, but fans were quick to comment on the photo of Amir, accusing the sports star of breaching current restrictions in place.

Andre secret Peter Andre has explained the reason why he chooses to cover the faces of his two youngest children on social media. The singer, 47, is dad to four kids: son Junior, 15, and daughter Princess, 13, from his previous marriage to Katie Price and daughter Amelia, seven, and son Theo, four, whom he shares with wife Emily MacDonagh. While Junior and Princess are very much present on social media – and now have their own Instagram accounts – Peter makes sure to cover the faces of his younger children and keep their identity from view. He’s now revealed that it was the choice of their mum Emily, who works as a junior doctor for the NHS, as she doesn’t want Amelia and

Theo to be recognised when they are at school. Responding to a fan who had asked why he keeps Amelia and Theo ‘offline’, Peter said in a YouTube video: ‘Emily’s point is that they weren’t born into the media. No-one has ever seen their faces, so she doesn’t want anyone to see their faces, so that when they go to school no one can recognise them.’
Piers and the GC Piers Morgan has called for a crackdown on social media trolling after Gemma Collins was bombarded with death threats recently. It was announced that Gemma will sit down with Piers for an episode of his ITV series Life Stories, discussing her career and personal trauma. However, the news was met with backlash and some even sending death threats to the TOWIE star. Opening up about the online abuse, Piers said on Good Morning Britain: ‘I talk about the trolling she’s got and whether you love her or hate her – she’s got two million fans on social media who love her and she’s got other people who can’t stand her. She’s a reality TV star who plays up to her character — much like Katie Price. ‘No-one should have to put up with people on Twitter spewing the kind of vile abuse and death threats that they have been spewing at Gemma Collins.’

New Challenges For Brits In Spain - 2
Last month I wrote about the requirements to become a resident in Spain after 1st January 2021 and I wrote that each person needed to prove an annual income of around 27,000 Euros. However, since writing that it appears that if you are a married couple, just one of you needs to be earning this, plus 6,500 Euros for the spouse, and for each additional member of the family.
We are all hoping that, over time, each EU country, including Spain, will come to individual agreements with the UK on residency and how long non residents can stay in their countries. With a bit of luck, Spain will wake up quickly and realise what a loss the Brexit rules will entail for them, in the form of a loss of direct income as well as a well-established friendship with the ‘ex pats’. The Brits have had a love affair with Spain for decades (actually, if you look back, centuries!) and I still cannot get my head around the idea that that love affair has been snubbed out forever. Will the divorce of the UK and the EU also mean an end to that
93
bond, and will Brits stop longing for warmer shores and new excitement, especially as and when they plan their retirement? My gut feeling is that they won’t, that somehow, they will do everything possible to continue to dream and make their dreams reality and we will be waiting for them and helping them when they set out on that difficult and obstacle-strewn path.
The first step to easing the process would be to increase the period of time that non-residents can spend time here – perhaps from 90 days to 180 days. That would allow the many people who have second homes here to still be resident in the UK, whilst continuing to enjoy wintering here in Spain. And it will encourage new generations of Brits to do the same. Let’s hope the Spanish government gets moving on this sooner rather than later. Watch this space… time will tell. OVER 60 POINTS: Others see you as someone they should 'handle with care.’ You're seen as vain, self-centred, and extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.
51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who’s quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.
41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly the centre of attention, but sufficiently well balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out. 31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realise it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.
21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature. UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions and who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

Wines From France: Some Provence Favourites
The Provence region of France is renowned for gastronomy and wine productions of excellent quality. Tourists, from around the world, visit this part of France and return, regularly, for the pleasurable delights. The climate is most relevant, for the production of grapes, which ultimately produce the very impressive wines. The wines produced lay claim to many awards, from numerous, prestigious competitions and events.
The Sainte Croix winery is located in Provence. Tradition and history have a large input, for the wines produced by this outstanding, multi award-winning company, which is now in the fourth generation of the family and located on the former lands of Thoronet Abbey.
Château Sainte Croix ACACIA (13% vol. Grapes: 100% Rolle) has a very pleasant bouquet, which leads, enticingly, to the mouthfeel. The pleasures for the tastebuds include a captivating freshness, for this white wine. The palate’s sensation continues, with the overall pleasing effect of this production. Great for pre dining drinks and perfect to pair with fish and seafood dishes, particularly. Château Sainte Croix CHARMEUR (13% vol. Grapes: Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache) is known to be
97
the company’s flagship production. I found this salmon-coloured, rosé wine, excellent. Elegance and sophistication are thoughts that come to mind, easily. Wonderful to accompany cold meats and a lot of cuisine, adding colour to a dining table. Splendid for al fresco occasions, too. Château Sainte Croix SAINT – PIERRE (14% vol. Grapes: Grenache, Syrah) is a powerful production and a popular, regular choice, for many red wine lovers. Juicy, dark, ripe fruits
are in abundance for the mouth’s pleasures, which follow splendidly, from the nasal initiation. Full-bodied and smooth, the palate further enjoys the delights of this wine. Fantastic with red meat dishes.
In addition to the vineyard and winery, the estate offers very well-appointed accommodation, restaurant dining, plus most attractive outdoor areas. Events and weddings, receptions, plus parties, take place, regularly. The company is dedicated and committed to producing and supplying wines of excellent quality, plus very memorable experiences for visitors to the estate. For all details, including easy ordering (online, too), please E-mail: chateausaintecroix83@yahoo.fr and visit: www.chateau-sainte-croix.com

A soldier ran up to a nun. Out of breath he asked, 'Please, may I hide under your skirt. I'll explain later.' The nun agreed. A moment later two Military Police ran up and asked, ‘Sister, have you seen a soldier?' The nun replied, 'He went that way.' After the MPs ran off, the soldier crawled out from under her skirt and said, 'I can't thank you enough Sister. You see, I don't want to go to Iraq ..' The nun said, 'I understand completely.' The soldier added, 'I hope I'm not rude, but you have a great pair of legs!' The nun replied, 'If you had looked a little higher, you would have seen a great pair of balls....I don't want to go to Iraq either.' ------------------------------------------------------------A woman was in bed with her lover when she heard her husband opening the front door. 'Hurry,' she said, 'Stand in the corner.' She rubbed baby oil all over him, then dusted him with talcum powder. 'Don't move until I tell you,' she said, 'Pretend you're a statue.' 'What's this?' the husband inquired as he entered the room. 'Oh it's a statue,' she replied, 'The Smiths bought one and I liked it so I got one for us, too.' No more was said, not even when they went to bed. Around 2am the husband got up, went to the kitchen and returned with a sandwich and a beer. 'Here,' he said to the statue, have this. If you’re going to tell me that grown-ups don’t really get laid, I’ll have nothing left to live for”. ------------------------------------------------------------I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of euros for dinner. I took out my purse, got out ten euros and asked, 'If I give you this money, will you buy wine with it instead of dinner?' 'No, I had to stop drinking years ago', the homeless woman told me. 'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked. 'No, I don't waste time shopping,' the homeless woman said. 'I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.' 'Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked. 'Are you NUTS!' replied the homeless woman, I haven't had my hair done in 20 years!' 'Well, I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, I'm going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.' The homeless woman was shocked. 'Won't your husband be furious with you for doing that? I know I'm dirty and I probably smell pretty disgusting.' I said, 'That's okay. It's important for him to see what a woman looks like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and wine.'

There is a new study about women and how they feel about their bums. The results were pretty interesting: 30% of women think their bum is too fat... 10% of women think their bum is too skinny... The remaining 60% say they don't care, they love him, he's a good man, and they wouldn't trade him for the world. ------------------------------------------------------------My wife sat down on the couch next to me as I was flicking through the channels. She asked, 'What's on TV?' I said, 'Dust.' And then the fight started... ------------------------------------------------------------The town fathers were looking for a way to increase attendance and participation at their regular meetings. One member suggested bringing in a hypnotist. The officials agreed, a famous hypnotist was hired, publicity distributed and everyone was pleased. A few weeks later the meeting hall was packed and the town's people sat fascinated as the hypnotist withdrew a pocket watch. The hypnotist began chanting... "Watch the watch, watch the watch, watch the watch..." The crowd became mesmerised as the watch swayed back and forth, light gleaming off its polished surface. Hundreds of pairs of eyes followed the swaying watch, until suddenly the hypnotist's fingers slipped and the watch fell to the floor... "S***t" said the hypnotist. It took three weeks to clean up the town hall. ------------------------------------------------------------Some race horses staying in a stable. One of them starts to boast about his track record. "In the last 15 races, I've won 8 of them!" Another horse breaks in, "Well in the last 27 races, I've won 19!!" "Oh that's good, but in the last 36 races, I've won 28!" says another, flicking his tail. At this point, they notice that a greyhound has been sitting there listening. "I don't mean to boast," says the greyhound, "But in my last 90 races, I've won 88 of them!" The horses are clearly amazed. "Wow!" says

one, after a hushed silence. "A talking dog." ------------------------------------------------------------A woman was wondering why she hadnt had sex in 5 months. So her friend told her to go and see a chinese sex doctor. When she got there he told here to take off all her clothes and crawl to the other end of the room and back. As she was crawling back towards the doctor, he said "Oh yes... I see the problem now" "What is it", replied the woman. "Your face look like your arse" said the doctor. ------------------------------------------------------------A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class. As she ran she prayed, 'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late! Dear Lord, please don't let me be late!' While she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress. She got up, brushed her self off, and started running again! As she ran she once again began to pray, 'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late...But please don't shove me either!' ------------------------------------------------------------Three boys are in the school yard bragging about their fathers. The first boy says, 'My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a poem, they give him €50.' The second boy says, 'That's nothing. My Dad scribbles a few words on piece of paper, he calls it a song, they give him €100.' The third boy says, 'I got you both beat. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper; he calls it a sermon, and it takes eight people to collect all the money!' ------------------------------------------------------------A Sunday school teacher asked her class why Joseph and Mary took Jesus with them to Jerusalem . A small child replied, 'They couldn't get a baby-sitter.'
