I’m writing this editorial the day after Easter. My husband and I had a great time doing an Easter egg hunt in our house…we hid organic chocolate, almond butter filled bunnies, and solid dark chocolate eggs. Needless to say, now we’re feeling rather stuffed! However, given the enormity of Halloween, Valentines Day, and Thanksgiving here in the US, I was a little disappointed that they don’t celebrate Easter here in the same way. It comes and goes without a great deal of fuss or attention. There’s no massive public Easter egg hunts here for the children, like there are in the UK! But now Easter has gone, and so I’m focusing my attention on my upcoming trip back to Spain and the UK. I haven’t actually booked my flights yet, but I’m hoping to return for some of May, and all of June and July. Since I left Spain for the US my old life is still sitting there and it’s in serious need of some TLC! I have an apartment to clear out, clean up, and decorate, ready for renters. A car to sell. Many odds and ends to sort out. And lots of friends and family to see and catch up with. And even though the weather is warming up here in Ketchum, Idaho – and most of the snow has thankfully melted – I am looking forward to the guaranteed sunny, warm weather in Spain during the summer months, and some quality time lounging on the beach!

Strange News high Five A British daredevil has been filmed performing a handstand on the edge of a 40-storey building in China. Scott Young, 25, travels the world performing extreme handstands on the edge of high-rise buildings - without a safety net or ropes. But his latest stunt is his scariest yet and is proving a viral hit on YouTube where it has been watched nearly 340,000 times. "Scott puts his life on the edge of a 40-storey building, with winds picking up, it was no easy task," explains the video caption."He pushed past all limitations to provide mad content and inspire the world." Basingstoke-born Mr Young is a member of 3run, a professional performance team that specialises in the 'arts of movement'.

Nude run A bus passenger's video of a naked woman jogging down a London high street is going viral on YouTube. More than 100,000 people have watched the clip of the woman running along Uxbridge Road in Ealing. Elijah Bailey said he was on the top deck of an E3 bus when he spotted the nude runner, reports Metro. His grainy video shows the woman passing convenience shops, takeaway shops and a cashpoint. "She had no remorse on her face. I'm still in shock," said Mr Bailey, a few hours after the incident. "Police stopped her outside Deans Park and she was so calm with it, like they wanted the time or some of her Lucozade." No arrest has been reported however, and the naked woman's behaviour remains a mystery.

"People are more concerned for their pets than themselves when they travel and we saw a real gap in the market for high quality pet transport", says Simon Spettigue, director of Pets-trans, otherwise known as Prestige European Transport Services. Having studied for six months to pass the rigorous licensing approval, Simon and his partner, Pete Hillier, have cut no corners in commissioning state-of-the-art facilities for their transport vehicle. The dogs are walked several times per day when their photos are taken and uploaded for their owners to see, “I can't always get them to smile, though!" admits Simon. "We started with the idea of taking rescue dogs to new homes in the UK," says Simon. "But we soon realised there was a niche in the market for high quality private pet transport as well. We now invite private owners to make a small contribution towards helping the homeless so we can combine these operations and provide the best possible service for all." Rottweiler dog is given right to vote in upcoming European Parliament elections Eight-year-old Zeus from Stockton-on-Tees gets a polling card after census mix-up puts him on the register of electors. Politics in Britain really has gone to the dogs after a Rottweiler was given the right to vote! Eight-year-old Zeus got a polling card through the post for the forthcoming European Parliament election on May 22. It is a novel way to boost turnouts but owner Russell Hoyle, 45, could not believe it when the card - addressed to Zeus Hoyle - dropped through the letterbox. Said Russell, from Norton, Stockton-on-Tees: “I can remember when the people came round to do the census and I told them: ‘There is myself and my wife and we have got Zeus living here as well and he is 63 in dog years'. “I did a double take when the polling card came through with three names on it because my son is only 17 and I knew it could not be him. “I just think it is totally hilarious. I know obviously it is a cock-up but me and my wife are going to vote and Zeus is coming with us.

What Is The Bowen Technique? BOWTECH (the original Bowen Technique), is a safe, non-manipulative, fast and effective system for the treatment of pain, inflammation, joint discomfort, spinal misalignment, muscle, tendon and organ pain (internal ailments) and is an aid to healing. Because the Bowen Technique works on the whole body, it is possible to treat more than one ailment at the same time, whether they are acute or chronic. For example, if you are suffering from bronchitis, menstrual problems, back, shoulder or neck problems, migraine or any combination of these or other illnesses, they can all be successfully treated in one session. A second session is normally recommended as reinforcement. Even if you are suffering from a long-standing complaint, usually only a few sessions are necessary to improve your condition. long-lasting unless there is re-injury. Because of the body's high tolerance level of the Bowen Technique, the treatment is appropriate for everyone, from newborn babies to the Bianca Bojahr frail and elderly. Casa De Rosa Casa de Rosa, El Penoncillo, Torrox Costa is a fantastic bar and restaurant to go to if you fancy good vibes and tasty food! TK’s I thought I would write in to tell of my Sunday lunch experience at TKs Restaurant in Torrox Costa I have been there many times before to eat, as they do the best ribs and wings for miles around. But it’s their roast dinners that I must speak about for quality and value for money! We chose a table outside on the large covered terrace. The nice wooden furniture makes a pleasant change from those horrible plastic tables and chairs, which never seem to be that secure. We had homemade soup to start — a large tureen of it —and today it was cream of vegetable. As usual, it was perfectly seasoned, tasty and there was plenty of it. Every Sunday, we were told, there is a different soup, lovingly made by Kerstin. We had already pre-booked lamb and pork for our mains, which are served with the appropriate mint and apple sauces respectively, together with an abundance of gravy in separate

boats ─ one for the lamb and one for the pork. All this is accompanied by Yorkies, roasties and four freshly-cooked vegetables to complete the dinner. There is always a good selection of desserts and on this occasion, the choice was — amongst others — fresh strawberries, fruit flan, homemade lemon drizzle cake and various crepes, all served with a choice of custard, cream or ice cream. It really is a delicious Sunday lunch and I can’t stress enough that it’s well worth a visit. It’s just 10.50€ for the three courses for pork, beef or chicken and 13.00€ for the lamb. Fantastic value! Thomas, the owner, told me that they now have a selection of homemade tapas available every day. These are always changing and are all priced at 1€. So, with the incredible Sunday lunches, the best ribs and wings around and now fresh homemade tapas ─ not to mention English brekkies ─ TKs really is the venue to visit. New Mum In Town - Easter Well, Easter (and it's bunny) has been and gone, and, amazingly, the rain held off, well just! It was a week of beach fun and games, with the odd procession thrown in. But, the main event was, of course, Easter Sunday; Jazmin's first proper one! Normally, Jazmin would not be allowed chocolate (boooooo Mummy I hear you say...I know I know), but Miss J certainly took advantage of the Easter treats! We went to Yaya and yayo's house for a BBQ lunch, for which, the heavens kindly opened throughout. It was fabulous though, as we were sat outside under the roofed terrace, warm as toast whilst it was raining around us; very Sunday cortijo style! Couldn't do that in the UK! After several "chocolate" pleas, Jazmin finally got to do her first Easter egg hunt. Haha, what

fun - she loved rummaging through the flowers, trampling on the mud and racing Mummy to collect the golden eggs, im not quite sure who enjoyed it more! Reconnecting with my inner child through my Daughter is awesome! Baby girl is a clever little one though as, instead of placing the eggs in the Easter basket, she scoffed the lot (just incase mummy took them away I guess) and finished up with a Cheshire Cat style grin, chocolate moustache (and extreme sugar high) - if only she was as eager to munch on a carrot! All in all, a great Easter was had by all. Hope you guys reading also enjoyed the Easter break! Next month.....no more nappies; wish me luck!

Yorkshire Community To Resurrect Maypole Dancing A group of girls from Carleton-in-Craven are learning the traditional dances of the Maypole, which has fallen out of fashion A group of youngsters are determined to revive Maypole dancing - 25 years since the tradition has been taught in their community. The 12 girls from Carleton-in-Craven, North Yorkshire, are being taught May Day songs and dances amid fears the tradition could be lost forever if it is not passed on. Sarah Churcher, 34, is leading the initiative and part of a team of women passing on the skills to a new generation. Mum-of-two Sarah said: "I think the excitement of going around the village and showing the villagers what we had done was a real treat. "It felt like a really special thing to be involved in. Solicitor-by-day Sarah became involved after answering the rallying cry of her community to

revive the tradition - before it's too late. So far, 12 girls have begun learning the songs and dances in advance of this year's May Day performance. But the revival is going further than just the classes - with a local joiner offering to make the maypole and the village pantomime group stepping forward to make the costumes. As a child, Sarah was taught the songs and dances of the Maypole after school alongside her female classmates by the ladies of the village ahead of an annual performance. She said: "We used to go from one end of the village to the other and stop and dance and sing. "People would come out of their houses and watch and then we would move on. It took a couple of hours during the morning. "It was very popular around the village. People came out to support children of the village. The invitation was open to boys but only girls are taking part - something the group hopes will change next year. Unlike the travelling Maypoles of years gone by, this year's will remain in one place.

Charity Event Along with my daughter Teresa and her friend Jo, I will walk the Beacons Way between 26 - 30 May. This is a walk apparently more demanding than walking in Exmoor, Dartmoor, the North York Moors, the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales, but not as challenging as Snowdonia, the Lake District or many parts of Scotland. The route measures 100mls/160kms from Holy Mountain to Bethlehem, and we will walk it in five days. My mother died 40 years ago from an illness for which we had no name. We now know it as MND (Motor Neurone Disease). My sister Cynthia fell ill some years later and was diagnosed with MND but we were assured at that time that it was not familial (hereditary). However, by the time my brother Robert (Bob) was stricken with it, we knew it was. My sister Joyce was diagnosed soon afterwards and both she and Bob passed away within days of each other in October 2012. As you can imagine, alongside the deep loss we felt we were somewhat in shock that we have this dreadful gene running rife through our family. We felt we had to do something - but

what could we do? Other family members got busy fundraising, but I knew it would be difficult for me, living in rural Spain. However, I hit on the idea of a sponsored trek. I am not a natural walker, and this is the biggest challenge I have undertaken. However, I am determined to make it and it is usually my determination which carries me through. So far all is going well - I have six black toenails and several blisters on my feet but I have lost weight! My husband Brian is as always a great support to me and when not helping me train, he is putting up with me being obsessed with this challenge. He, along with Teresa's son Harry, seven, will be providing back-up for us during the walk. Ruta de la Pasa

RUTA DE LA PASA or the route of the raisin is steeped in history, you can almost hear the cry STAND AND DELIVER as one of the most feared outlaws, El Bizco, gallops towards you on his black Andalucian stallion, snorting, foaming at the mouth and stamping its mighty hoofs! We start safely back in the 21st century at Moclinejo some 450 metres above sea level, 20km from Málaga and 32kms from VélezMálaga. If you drive into the village itself there are plenty of places to sample the delicious local wine, but be warned it’s stronger than you think! First of all to get to the village turn off the A7 autovia at km 256 for Torre de Benagalbón and take the MA-107 and then the MA-108 up past the village to Moclinejo which should take about 10 minutes. The route leads on up the steep and winding road towards Almáchar with breaktaking views. Marking the entrance to the village a huge bunch of grapes looms out of a fountain. Once there, a good snack is a handful of raisins as you walk its steep streets. On the first Saturday of September this village throbs with tourists who come to sample the cold garlic soup at the annual Festival of Ajo Blanco. We continue our route by turning left at the bridge up towards El Borge where apart from our bandits birth house, don´t miss the parish church of Our Lady of the Rosary on the Plaza Mirador a Gothic-Renaissance structure of the sixteenth century. Driving onwards and upwards we are now only a few kilometres from our next stop The Foun-

tain of Paradise, Cútar, known for its oil and raisins. This village remembers its Moorish origins every year at the Monfi Festival where history, culture and traditions unfold in the streets with displays of falconry, music, tea ceremonies and belly dancing. Our next port of call is the famous mountain top village of Comares. Most of the year, if the river bed is dry you can drive from Cútar down to the river and come off again at Salto del Negro bridge, turn left and then right up the 7km road to Comares. For the less adventurous the route continues down into Benamargosa, turn left after the bridge and continue until you see the left turn up to Comares. The first watering hole on the way up to the village is the Mayors Bar, Atalaya where you can sample delightful local cuisine while taking in magnificent vistas down to the coast at Torre del Mar. Further up in the main square do stop to take photos of the view and see if you can spot the villages of Cútar, Iznate, Benamocarra, Vélez-Málaga, Torre del Mar, Benamargosa, Canillas de Aceituno and Alcaucin. Whilst up there make sure to stroll into the beautiful courtyard of the Molino de los Abuelos Hotel for a well deserved cool drink before descending back towards Málaga and the last village of the route Totalán. To get to Totalán you need to turn left just before Olías. Totalán is a place whose gastronomy is closely linked to the Mediterranean diet with Gazpachuelo, a stew of chickpeas, Gazpacho and the famous Chanfaina stew with peppers, sausage, black pudding, pork and offal. Stomach full it´s time to head back to the coast but don´t forget the shopping centre at the entrance back onto the autovia Centro Commercial Rincon de la Victoria where if you are not already too exhausted you can shop ´til you drop!

As the Light turns denser and moves into levels of manifestation its colour changes and adapts. Though all things were manifested under God’s original intention of Light, as Light moves through the levels below the Spirit level it takes on a magnetic quality. We can attract and direct the magnetic Light. Things can be changed, moved and manipulated via our intention. Therefore, the magnetic Light does not always work for our higher good because we can use mind and emotion to manipulate it. The magnetic Light can be used in both positive and negative ways and it adjusts according to our intention and consciousness. We must learn to take care when working with the Light because we can create negatively with it too. One reason people meditate and follow a spiritual path is to get beyond the magnetic Light and access the Spiritual Light. One key to achieving this is to reach a detached, neutral place where we are open to the highest good. Potentially, anyone can reach this state. When we look historically across the different religious traditions and metaphysical paths, many people tapped into that higher Light and were channels and instruments for it. To this day, when we read the poetry of Rumi, for example, his words and the energy behind them take us into that higher Light and give us a sense of inspiration, joy and love. Rumi merged into that higher Light and his subsequent work was radiated. It seems to touch nearly everyone. On the other hand, some people may be moved by a certain piece of music, while it does nothing for many other people. In this case the music is most likely reflecting the magnetic Light from one of the levels of manifest creation. That does not mean it is negative; it can still be beautiful and powerful, but not as universally inspiring. The higher Light will only work for the highest good. Our prayers go forth into the universe and they are always answered, but the level they are answered from depends on where we pray from and the clarity of our intention. If there is too much emotional demand in our prayer, it will most likely be answered from a lesser level of the Light.

4 salmon steaks 2 tbsp lemon juice salt & freshly ground black pepper 25g/1oz butter 2 spring onions finely chopped bunch watercress finely chopped 8 tbsp low fat crème fraiche watercress springs and lemon wedges to garnish Method: 1. Season the salmon steaks with lemon juice and salt and pepper. Heat a frying pan, pan fry the salmon steaks for 2-3 minutes on each side. 2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan, gently fry the spring onions without browning. Add the watercress, mix in the crème fraiche and warm through. 3. Divide the sauce between 4 plates, place a salmon steak on top and garnish with watercress and lemon wedges before serving.

Foreigners have to fulfill a number of requirements, though. First, the buyer has to obtain a foreigner identification number (NIE).
