m Fro Ed... the A spooktacular welcome to the October edition of The Sentinella Magazine. Well that’s it — sadly summer is officially over for us parents with children in school, and we are back to the monotonous daily routine of early mornings and early nights. But for how long, we ask ourselves. Before my two children even went back to school, I heard a school in Marbella had closed its doors again! I have a feeling it is going to be a very unsettled and stressful school year ahead — not something we parents need right now, to be honest. One of my children beginning in 1st ESO and the other in 1st Bachillarto had a strange start to the school year. The 12-year-old went to school on Tuesday 12th September and then had no more school for the rest of the week, only to start again on Monday 21st. The 15-year-old started on Friday 15th after being told she started on 12th... so lots of changes already and with such short notice. It’s not too bad for me luckily as I work my own hours and from home, but for parents who would have planned on returning to work on the 12th would then find themselves having to organise childcare services for another few days. I don’t mind changes, but at least give enough notice so that the families can organise themselves around those changes; I dread to think how many more on-the-spot changes there will be in the coming nine months. ROLL ON NEXT SUMMER is what I say! Is it just me or do people feel generally a bit down at the moment? Well to brighten things up we have started a competition each month. The winner of our first competition — which was advertised only on Facebook — is now published on our Facebook page ‘Sentinella Axarquia Edition’. The lucky winner won a delicious mixed tapa plate for two people to share plus a bottle of red/white or rose wine to enjoy at The Belvedere in Torre del Mar. So congratulations to you....enjoy! This month turn to page 14 and enter the ‘Guess the number of sweets in the jar competition’. This jar can be found on display at La Tasca Torre

The Sentinella

DEADLINE FOR NOVEMBER SUNDAY 18TH OCTOBER Reservations: 664 210 468 Email: sales@thesentinella.com

Bear hugs Doorbell cameras are helpful to work out if you want to go outside to answer. Usually it will be a postman delivering a parcel or a friend arriving – but sometimes you see something you’d rather not. Imagine how one family felt to see two bear cubs fighting on their welcome mat, and their ‘huge’ mother climbing the porch steps. Pedro Rosas was at home with his wife and three children in South Lake Tahoe, California, when he heard noises on his doorstep. Worried he had interrupted a break-in, the 45-year-old waiter quickly checked his security cameras for the source. Pedro was shocked when footage showed two cubs running past his SUV and up the wooden steps before having a stand-off on his welcome mat. Rearing up on their hind legs, the youngsters battled briefly with one even pushing its sibling down the stairs. As they continued to paw at each other, the bears’ mum appeared, climbed the porch steps and bustled between the quarrelling duo before continuing on her way. After their mum had wandered off, the pair continued to scrap before one of the bears appeared to make an attempt at getting into the house by scratching at the door before scampering off. Pedro said: “Bears often come near our house since we live very close to the mountains, but we’ve never had them so close to our front door like this.” Bird blues A ‘tropical’ bird with vibrant blue and black feathers fooled people into thinking they had discovered something truly extraordinary. The bird was found wandering in a car park in Carlisle by shocked onlookers who alerted the RSPCA. But welfare officers soon confirmed the bird was not tropical and was just a regular seagull that had been dyed electric blue. RSPCA officer Graham Carter said he has never seen anything like it in 20 years on the job. He said: “We have had similar situations before where gulls have got themselves into trouble after falling into containers of beer, curry or oil, and also when some birds have been dyed pink, but we just don’t know what happened in this case with this poor bird. “At this stage we simply don’t know if this was an accident or malicious.” Stephen Wakelin, from Wolfwood Wildlife and Dog Rescue, added: “We are doing our best for this poor gull and are hoping that he makes a full recovery.”

Strange News (Continued) Left luggage London rush hour commuters at Peckham Rye station suffered an unusual delay after a woman stepped off a train but left her baby on board. The baby was taken off the train from Victoria to Dartford by station staff at the following stop, The Sun reports. The mother called South Eastern Railways to tell them what had happened, and then took the next service to go and be reunited. One person tweeted: ‘How could you forget YOUR BABY — A WHOLE BABY? I’ve heard it all now.’ A South Eastern spokesman said: “Both mother and child are safe and well.” Fast food A greedy Labrador had to have emergency treatment after he ate his entire lead in the space of a 15-minute car journey. Max made short work of the lead, leaving nothing but the

metal end. Owners Brian and Christine Hillman rushed him to the vets, where his stomach was pumped to remove the material which could have caused serious damage. A team of specialists worked quickly to recover the lead, which had been chewed into neat 5cm strips. Ms Hillman, 54, said Max was prone to chewing on items of clothing, but had never before eaten anything dangerous. “We know to keep an eye on him as he is always at the socks and knickers from the washing, although he just bites holes in them. “So, we never for a moment thought he’d do anything as crazy as eat his lead.” Seven-year-old Max has had previous health issues and was on his way to a hydrotherapy session before Ms Hillman spotted the lead was missing and made a swift diversion to the nearest vets in Newport, South Wales, where he was treated at their emergency clinic.

Polar Air - Your Heating & Cooling Specialists October is a month where we can still enjoy plenty of beautiful sunshine, not with temperatures quite like July, August and September, but the dreaded (for some of us) cold winter months will be approaching us before we know it.

of course cooling us and heating us up, a better night’s sleep, better security as you don’t have to leave windows open etc.. If you buy now for the winter, you are already prepared for the coming winter and for the hot days and nights in the summer of 2021.

Are you prepared for the chilly mornings and evenings? Are you soon going to be swapping the stand up fans for bulky and potentially dangerous gas heaters? Why not invest in an air conditioning/heat unit from Polar Air that you can use all year round according to the weather.

Now is also the time to have your pool upgraded by having an efficient heat pump system fitted with a pool cover, these are technically the same principle as air conditioning units. Polar Air also supply and install these at very fair prices so please get in touch for more information.

Some people believe that air con units are very expensive to run, but with the new modern technology this is not the case, in some cases they can cost only â‚Ź0.03 cents per hour for an A++ rated system.

At Polar Air Conditioning, Peter and team have been fitting air con units across Andalucia from Nerja to Marbella for 10 years. They supply and install good quality brands such as Mitshubishi, Daikin, Samsung etc.. Polar Air is Junta de Andalucia registered and can service and repair your units with their qualified technicians.

Air conditioning units circulate and filter air as long as your system is kept clean and filters are regularly changed. This is good for allergy sufferers because it minimises the risk of attacks. Other advantages of Air Conditioning/heating units are; fewer insects,

True Halloween Stories For some of us, October 31st is the most fun day of the year. For others, it’s the spookiest. And here’s why… Knock knock In 1992, a 16-year-old Japanese foreign exchange student in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, paid the ultimate price after accidentally ringing the wrong doorbell on his way to a Halloween party, reports Japan Today. Yoshihiro Hattori had been unfamiliar with the neighbourhood when he and a friend arrived at the home of Rodney Peairs, a nearby neighbour who opened the door armed with a 44 Magnum revolver. Although Hattori allegedly said, “We’re here for the party,” Peairs claimed he feared for his life and ordered the student to “Freeze!” When Hattori misunderstood the command and kept approaching, Peairs shot him. After being questioned, the perpetrator was arrested but later acquitted of manslaughter. It’s unknown what kind of Halloween costume Hattori wore to warrant such a reaction. Houdini Famed magician Harry Houdini claimed he could take a blow to the abdomen without being taken down, and on October 22, 1926, a student at McGill University asked if he could prove it. Houdini, who’d been sitting in his dressing room during an engagement at the Montreal University, obliged. Although he had allegedly braced himself, the student’s four punches left the performer in great pain. After suffering for two days, Houdini decided to seek medical help, but by this time he was suffering from a severe fever and acute appendicitis. Defying doctor’s orders, he performed instead of undergoing the recommended emergency surgery. When the curtains closed, the magician collapsed. Despite having his appendix removed afterward, Houdini passed away on Halloween, surrounded by family. Deadly finale On Halloween day in 1963, the Indiana State Fair held a “Holidays on Ice” skating exhibition for a crowd of hundreds.

The grand finale was not what anyone had expected: Unbeknown to organisers at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum, propane gas had been leaking from a nearby tank into the poorly ventilated room. During a final act called “Mardis Gras,” the propane gas caught fire, leading to a horrific explosion that propelled onlookers from their chairs. The death toll was 74, and 400 additional people were injured. Prank gone wrong The tradition of throwing eggs at people on Halloween is, at best, a harmless prank—at worst, it can turn deadly. That was the case for Karl Jackson, a 21-year-old data entry clerk at Morgan Stanley, who usually never left the house on Halloween, as he thought it was dangerous. On October 31, 1995, his worst fear became a reality, reports the New York Times. Jackson had decided to venture out to pick up his girlfriend’s son from a party. Along the way, a group of teens pelted his car with eggs, so Jackson got out to confront them. But as he was getting back into the car, one of the pranksters pulled a gun and fatally shot him in the head. Vanished without a trace To this day, no one knows what happened to Hyun Jong “Cindy” Song, a 39-year-old grad student at Penn State Univesity who disappeared without a trace after leaving a Halloween party after midnight in 2001. Song had stopped by a friend’s home in the early morning hours, still decked out in her bunny costume, and accepted a lift home at about 4am. Slightly intoxicated, she managed to get inside her home and drop off her belongings, including her backpack and cell phone. She’d even removed her false eyelashes. But Song herself was never seen again. Investigators found no evidence of foul play and no activity on her credit cards or cell phone. The case eventually went cold.

Man Mode Learn what really goes on in your hubbie or boyfriend’s mind… Because I'm a man, when I lock my keys in the car, I will continue to fiddle with a coat hanger until long after hypothermia has set in. Calling the RAC is not an option. I will win. Because I'm a man, I can be relied upon to purchase basic groceries at the supermarket, like milk or bread. I cannot be expected to find exotic items like ‘cumin’ or ‘tofu’. For all I know, these are the same thing. Because I'm a man, when I catch a cold, I need someone to bring me soup and take care of me while I lie in bed and moan. Because I'm a man, when one of our appliances stops working, I will insist on taking it apart, despite evidence that this will just cost me twice as much once the repair man gets here and has to put it back together.

Because I'm a man, I must hold the television remote control in my hand while I watch TV. If the thing has been misplaced, I may miss a whole programme looking for it. Because I'm a man, there's no need to ask me what I'm thinking about. The honest answer is always either sex, cars, sex, sports or sex. I have to make up something else when you ask, so don't ask. Because I'm a man, I think what you're wearing is fine. I thought what you were wearing five minutes ago was fine, too. Either pair of shoes is fine. With the belt or without it, looks fine. Your hair is fine. You look fine. Can we just go now? Because I'm a man, and this is, after all, the year 2020, I will share equally in the housework. You just do the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning, the vacuuming, and the dishes, and I'll do the rest... like wandering around in the garden with a beer wondering what to do.

Interesting Facts... Palau became independent in 1994, after being part of a United Nations trust territory administered by the US for 47 years. Palau's recent history has been dominated by outside influences from Spain, Britain, Germany, Japan and the US. Palau saw some of the region's fiercest fighting in World War II. Palau is one of the few independent nations of the world that lack an army. Through the agreement of Compact of Free Association, the US is responsible for defending Palau against foreign invasions. Although Palau is a small archipelago, its entire territory is divided into sixteen states as distinct administrative regions. Each municipality of the country also has both an elected legislature and a tribal chiefdom. Thus, this country of only about 20,000 people is regarded as the world’s most over-governed place. Palau may have the highest percentage in the world of its citizens abroad, it’s estimated over 20% are living out of the country at any given time.

Bespoke Funeral Or Memorial Service I’m Wendy, an Independent Celebrant who celebrates life’s important moments, and there’s nothing more important than saying goodbye to your loved-ones in a way that is right for you. I compose, write and deliver non-religious funeral services for the English-speaking community here on the Costa Del Sol. Why did I become a celebrant? Well, a family funeral service, despite all the planning, didn’t go as we had wanted. We had spent a lot of time speaking to the person leading the ceremony, and on the day we didn’t recognise who they were talking about. It was as though they’d not heard a word we’d said. I was very unhappy, I knew there had to be a better way. It was then I looked at re-training as a Celebrant. When planning a funeral, it’s important to get it right. It’s the last chance we have to say goodbye to someone we love, and so it has to be exactly as you want it to be. We are celebrating the life of your loved-one, so I take the time to listen, understand and get to know that person through your memories and stories. When writing, I pull together all of those memories and funny stories, crafting a

personalised service, the celebration of that person’s life. With me leading your service you can have music of your choice, whether you like classical, Cliff Richard or Ed Sheeran, that won’t be a problem. I will help you choose any poems or readings and be there to guide you every step of the way. I work with all the local Tanatorios/Crematoria as well as the major insurance companies so do ask for me by name. Have you thought about a memorial service on a boat or in your garden? If you would like more information on how to personalise a funeral service for your loved-one please contact me. Spine Chillers!!! Chilling stories for Halloween....

clatter and thud.

Room for one more! The young and beautiful Comtesse de Vire travelled across France to visit her elderly, sick mother who lived in Auch, Gascony. Leaving Paris she headed south by rail to the little town of Jonzac, in the Charente-Maritime.

The elevator had fallen and every person in it was killed.

Outside the pretty town she stayed overnight at the Chateau du Plain, an old building which had a large gravel driveway leading to and from the main doors. Her bedroom for the overnight stay looked out over the drive. The Comtesse had considerable difficulty sleeping; it was a humid, moonlit night and as the clock outside her bedroom door struck 12, she heard the noise of horses' hooves on the gravel outside, and the sound of wheels. Intrigued the Comtesse rose and opening the wooden shutters looked out to see who could be arriving at that time of night. The moonlight was very bright, and she saw clearly a hearse drive up to the door. It hadn't a coffin in it; instead it was crowded with people. The coachman sat high up on the box: as he came opposite the window he drew up and turned his head. His face terrified her, and he said in a distinct voice, 'There's room for one more.' The Comtesse, fearful for her life, drew the curtain, ran back to bed, and covered her head with the bedclothes. In the morning she was not quite sure whether it had been a dream, or whether she had really got out of bed and seen the hearse, but she was glad to go up to Jonzac to continue her journey south and leave the old chateau behind her. In Auch, before visiting her sick mother, the Comtesse was shopping in the world renowned Galleries Lafayette in which there was an elevator: a modern invention at that time. She was on the top floor, and went to the elevator to descend. It was rather crowded, but as she came up to it, the elevator operator turned his head and said, 'There's room for one more.' It was the face of the coachman of the hearse. 'No, thank you,' spluttered the Comtesse. 'I'll take the stairs.' She turned away, the elevator doors clanged closed, there was a terrible rush and screaming and shouting, and then a great

The little brown dog Rachel, from Northallerton, Yorkshire, England was an extremely old woman who had no family still living. Her only companion and friend was a little brown dog, Slats, who went everywhere with her, with one exception. Slats loved the open fireplace in winter, and after the old woman went to bed he would sometimes go and lie in the hearth in front of the warm coals. Usually though, the dog slept at the very edge of the bed on a throw rug. Rachel wouldn't allow the dog on the bed with her, but if she became frightened or had a nightmare, she would put her hand down to the little brown dog and he would lick it reassuringly. One dark night Rachel was reading her newspaper just before going to sleep. She shivered and pulled the bedclothes up around her as she read that a mental patient had wandered off from the nearby Broadmoor asylum. No one knew if the patient was dangerous of not; he was a suspect in the murders of several women who had lived alone. Rachel turned out the lights and tried to sleep, but she was frightened, and kept thinking of the news report; she tossed and turned fitfully. Finally, she reached down to where the little brown dog slept. Sure enough, a warm, wet tongue began to lick her hand. The woman felt reassured and safe, and left her hand dangling off the bed as she turned and settled in comfortably. She opened her eyes for a moment and looked through the open door into the living room. There in front of the fireplace, sat Slats, gazing at the coals and wagging his tail. Down beside the bed, something was still licking her hand.

Currency Direct News Brexit drives volatility in the pound, EUR exchange rates undermined by Eurozone’s slowing recovery Staying up to date with the latest currency news can help you time your transfers effectively, so find out what you should be looking out for over the next couple of weeks… Latest currency news The pound has dived over the past month, with fresh Brexit uncertainty driving GBP/EUR from a high of €1.12 to a low of €1.07. Meanwhile, the volatility in GBP/USD may have been even more pronounced, with the pairing fluctuating between a high of US$1.34 and lows of US$1.27. Over the same period, EUR/GBP has jumped from £0.90 to £0.91, while EUR/USD has slipped from a two-year high of US$1.19 to US$1.17. What’s been happening? The pound was carried higher against the euro through the second half of August, with the pairing climbing to a three-month high on the back of some upbeat UK data releases. However, Sterling plummeted in early

September on the back of heightened Brexit anxiety. This was triggered by the proposal of a controversial bill from Boris Johnson which has jeopardised the chances of a post-Brexit trade deal in seeking to override part of the EU Withdrawal Agreement. Meanwhile, the euro has found its gains tempered in recent weeks as Europe’s coronavirus resurgence looks to have stalled the Eurozone’s economic recovery. What do you need to look out for? In the coming weeks we are likely to see trade in the GBP/EUR exchange rate grow increasingly choppy as Brexit uncertainty and coronavirus concerns start to dominate headlines once more. At Currencies Direct we’re here to talk currency whenever you need us, so get in touch if you want to know more about the latest news or how it could impact your currency transfers. Since 1996 we’ve helped more than 325,000 customers with their currency transfers, just pop into your local Currencies Direct branch or give us a call to find out more.

Very Sneaky!! This coronavirus is the strangest virus I've ever heard of. It's very dangerous the way it spreads. It is so mysterious the way it lurks in schools, but then dies at Mercadona. It can wreak havoc in pubs and restaurants! Although it’s mind-boggling how it vanishes at supermarkets. Yet standing to watch a marathon or at a gig or festival triggers its wrath. It is sneaky. It can spread when buying clothes at Primark but not at Mercadona or Supersol. It lives for 24 hours on Amazon boxes, you must wait 24 hours to touch them but it can't survive on takeaway coffee cups, so enjoying a hot latte is safe. It is the most curious thing, how it lives on footballs, tennis rackets and ballet bars, but dies on shopping trolleys and food. It is spread by hair stylists, dog groomers, and dentists, but not by bank machines, cashiers, and fast food workers. It's so smart. It won’t bother the first 6 people that get together but it knows when the 7th

person shows up so be careful if that’s you. It even knows what you want vs what you need. If you want a massage or your nails done it is very actively on the prowl and not even a mask can stop it. If you need a plumber, it is weak, and a mask will keep it away. It also seems to be most dangerous after 9pm so businesses and beaches must start to close before the virus comes out and wreaks havoc upon the populations. Whoever heard of such a smart sneaky virus?!?

Exercise How smart is your right foot? Just try this. It is from an orthopedic surgeon.......This will boggle your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but you can't. 1) WITHOUT anyone watching you and while sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles. 2) Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction. I told you so!!! And there's nothing you can do about it!

Simple Home Remedies 1. If you’re choking on an ice cube, simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat, presto! The blockage will instantly remove itself. 2. Avoid arguments with the females about lifting the toilet seat - use the sink. 3. A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button. 4. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives. Then you’ll be afraid to cough. 5. You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn’t move and does, use the duct tape. 6. Remember - Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Residency For British Citizens - The Foreign Identity Card - TIE A new residence document has now been introduced for British Citizens in accordance with the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement between Britain and Spain. An application can now be made for those who wish to make Spain their permanent residence during the transition period which ends after 31st December 2020. Your citizen’s rights under EU law will be maintained, this includes the right to move to and legally reside in Spain. For new applicants for residency there is a 2 stage process. In the First stage a submission is made to the Foreign Residency (Extranjeria) office with documentary evidence. You can do this in person, but we can now offer this service submitting the documentation digitally. We have dedicated lawyers registered with the Extranjeria – Foreigner’s Department - for these applications. The documents include but are not necessarily limited to: • The completed form or Application for Residency • Passports and if necessary Birth Certificates for children or dependants • Certificado de Empadronamiento – Town Hall certificate showing you are registered as living in the municipality. • Evidence of employment, registration as self-employed or proof of income • Evidence of either Private Medical insurance or State Health provision with form S1 from the UK Once the Application is submitted there will be notification within 10 days if there is any document missing or any error. If the application is successful you will be notified within a maximum period of 3 months. In the Second stage you will need to attend a Police Station in person with photographs and a Form which we can assist with. It may then be necessary to return to collect the card.

For those of you who hold the Green card showing your current residence in Spain this can be changed in a one stage procedure by attending the Police station with the forms and photographs. There is no immediate obligation to do this, but do contact us to discuss the procedure. We treat each case individually and can respond to your questions. We can advise on costs, taxes and all matters of Civil Law and we have a busy Tax department both for Residents and non-residents. Are You Paying Too Much For Your Electricity...? ...You don’t have to. At Axarenergy Daniel can organise everything for you from start to finish, with no fee for you, the client! Axarenergy’s mission is to find the perfect electricity plan for you so you can save each month on your bill. All Daniel asks is you send a copy of the front and back of your last electricity bill on Whatsapp to 662 114 241 or by email to hola@axarenergy.com so he can assess it and where possible send you a new proposal with a new company. The majority of customers that he can save money for are ones that currently have a contract with Endesa as their rates are seemingly higher than other companies and with more than 15 companies with over 50 offers Daniel can save you money! I used Daniel approximately one year ago and I have not looked back, with a saving of approximately 15 – 20€ a month I am very happy. The process was so easy too, Daniel took care of everything and like I mentioned earlier I didn’t have to pay anything for his time or service. The whole transition was very smooth including cancelling the contract from Endesa which was my fear, that maybe it had not been done correctly and they would

continue billing me or something, but I even received and a letter from Endesa stating that my contract with them had ended. So I am now a very happy customer with Fox Energy. Daniel has changed more than 1,000 customers in the Axarquia area who are all making a significant saving on their new bills. If you are a business owner renting a property or reside in a rental property and the electricity bill is in the owner’s name, this can still be changed over with no stress to the client, all Daniel needs is a copy of the rental contract and a copy of the Landlords DNI/Passport and at the point of you leaving the premises you can put Daniel in touch with the Landlord and he will put the electricity bill back to their name, again with no cost to the Landlord or you the client. If you would like to save some money, send your bills to Daniel for a brilliant service and at the end of it if you will have some spare cash you didn’t have before! Viñuela: Set In The Heart Of Axarquia A picture perfect white village with a beautiful lake. Offers everything and more for the discerning traveller

in brightly painted ceramic pots. This is Viñuela! The narrow, one way street is the perfect picture of Andalucía.

With so many white villages to choose from, it’s often hard to know where to start. La Viñuela might be a good place to begin your white village tour. The La is usually dropped to simply call the village Viñuela. It’s unique attraction is that it’s close by the eponymous named lake which allows for lots more adventures than simply strolling through the pretty streets. It’s an ideal base for a holiday or just a day trip and here’s why.

The geraniums, which never seem to die, are complemented by huge terracotta pots with small olive trees. This is olive growing country. Although, Viñuela’s festival is actually a celebration of raisins: Fiesta de la Pasa, held in September. This is just one of several fiestas held in the town, the others being: early May – Romeria de San Jose, mid July – Feria de La Viñuela, early August – Fiesta de Virgen de las Angustias and mid August – Feria de Los Romanes. Viñuela never misses an opportunity to party! Of course this year is completely different.

Viñuela is a 15 minutes drive from the beach at Torre Del Mar but can seem a million miles away from the summer crowds. The main road actually bypasses the town so you only see the rather unassuming backs of houses. However, if you make the turn, you will find an immaculately maintained white village. Especially if you venture further down the main street past the local services. Viñuela is a thriving place despite its size. It’s a popular relocation place for many who decided to move here. It offers the opportunity to live somewhere that retains its Spanish character. It also has public transport a few times a day from Vélez-Málaga making it a practical choice to live. Plus, it has one of everything that you might need. There is a medical centre, a chemist, bank, supermarket, general store, butcher, baker, gestor, post office etc. There’s a weekly market on Friday with about three stalls but it’s a great place to get local fresh food. For a small place, it does have 4 bars but the whole town originated from a bar. Back in the eighteenth century, the bar La Venta La Viña, was established to offer refreshments to travellers from Granada to Malaga. The bar grew into a small village. But once you’ve stocked up, completed your business and had a coffee at one of the three bars at the top of the town, it’s time to descend the hill and see the real beauty of Viñuela. Think of the classic images of Andalucía. White buildings, small patios and balconies and walls bedecked with blood red geraniums

Aside from geraniums, the little street has other charms. There’s a small shrine and the tourist office located on a patio just off the street may rank amongst the prettiest in southern Spain. La Viñuela is well worth a visit.

Sexometer Which one covers you the best? 1. Pension Sex Two men were talking. “So, how's your sex life?” “Oh, nothing special. I'm having Pension sex.” “Pension sex?” “Yeah, you know; I get a little each month, but not enough to live on!” 2. Loud Sex A wife went in to see a therapist and said, “I've got a big problem, doctor. Every time we're in bed and my husband climaxes, he lets out this ear splitting yell.” “My dear,” the shrink said, “that's completely natural. I don't see what the problem is.” “The problem is,” she complained, “it wakes me up!” 3. Quiet Sex Tired of a listless sex life, the man came right out and asked his wife during a recent lovemaking session, “How come you never tell me when you have an orgasm? She glanced at him and replied, “You're never home!” 4. Argument Sex

Healthy Food with Art Gallery

A husband and his wife had a bitter quarrel on the day of their 40th wedding anniversary. The husband yelled, “When you die, I'm getting you a headstone that reads: 'Here Lies My Wife - Cold as Ever.” “Yeah,” she replies, “when you die, I'm getting you a headstone that reads: 'Here Lies My Husband - Stiff At Last.” 5. Women’s Humorous Sex My husband came home with a tube of KY jelly and said, “This will make you happy tonight.” He was right. When he went out of the bedroom, I squirted it all over the doorknobs. He couldn't get back in. 6. Elderly Sex One night, an 87 year-old woman came home from Bingo and found her 97 year-old husband in bed with another woman. She became violent and ended up pushing him off the balcony of their 20th floor, assisted living apartment, killing him instantly. Brought before the court on the charge of murder, the judge asked her if she had anything to say in her defense. She began coolly, “Yes, your honor. I figured that at 97, if he could still have sex...he could also probably fly.”

Benajarafe - The Up And Coming Area Of Andalucia Come and discover untouched Spain in the Axarquia area, where culture and tradition are present in everyday life. This translates to a great variety of tasty Mediterranean dishes, which range from fresh fish and seafood in the coastal area, to comforting stews in the mountains, both which are always well accompanied by a good wine from the area, especially the typical sweet wine which you will be able to try at many of the local festivals and village restaurants Among the coastal towns, one to reveal is Benajarafe. Only a 30 minute drive to the airport and a 20 minute drive to the city centre of Malaga. It is situated in a quiet location, which is up and coming. There is so much to offer, from the great variety of restaurants, a stroll along the promenade or just relaxing in a beach bar, and there is something for those who are looking for a bit more activity such as; hiking tours, water sports and road-trips through the curvy streets up the mountains to find the hidden white villages, which is something everybody enjoys. All in all, there is something for everyone to fall in love with in Benajarafe. In this gem of a town, we from Axarquia Properties have created an architectural piece of art which we would like to share with you. & t i Fru Facts as Veg ickpe Ch

Chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans, are a type of legume that is full of protein, fibre, and complex carbohydrates. The Chickpea is one of the world’s first cultivated legumes. There are different varieties of chickpeas which vary by the plant itself, here are a few varieties you may find around the world: Kabuli: Large and beige with a thin skin, these are increasingly common in America. They have a mild nutty, creamy flavour. Desi: Small and dark with yellow interiors, these are most popular worldwide. They have a thicker, more nutritious seed coat than the Kabuli-type beans. Green: These are younger chickpeas with a sweet flavour, almost like green peas.

Chickpeas are one of the best food sources of folate, the daily recommended amount is 400 micrograms, which is most easily reached by eating a variety of plant foods such as the chickpea. Just 100 grams of chickpeas will give you an astounding 557 mcg of folate (139% of RDV). These beans can boost your energy because of their high iron content. Iron is an essential mineral responsible for transmitting nerve impulses and carrying oxygen in your red blood cells. Recent studies have shown that garbanzos have protective benefits against cancer, especially in colon cancer, due to their high fibre content. Chickpeas are an incredibly versatile ingredient to cook with. You can eat them canned, dried or roasted, hot or cold and they are inexpensive. Chickpeas can be used for making much, much more than just hummus. Try adding to soups instead of croutons as an alternative.

They have lots of useful nutrients but are relatively low in calories. There are about 35 grams of carbs in a 1-cup serving. They provide a good source of minerals (such as – copper, zinc, iron, phosphorus, potassium, manganese, and selenium), vitamins (like – vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5, folate, C, E, K), dietary fibre, healthy fats, choline, and protein.

As one of the richest sources of amino acids, serotonin and tryptophan, garbanzo plays a crucial role in regulating sleep and mood.

Random Jokes :) A guy has a bad habit: He loves to hit pedestrians while he drives. So one day he's driving and sees an old lady with a cane and he decides to control his urge to swerve and hit her - but he can't. Later, he sees a kid skating and can't resist hitting the kid. Finally, he decides he needs help from above so he goes to a church and asks the pastor for help. So after church, the pastor invites

him to his house for lunch. They get in the car and start to drive down the street, and just as he starts to tell the pastor about his problem, he sees an old blind man walking down the street. He swerves toward him but misses, and the pastor says, ‘‘Don’t worry. I got him with the door!'' ------------------------------------------------------------A perfectionist walked into a bar...apparently, the bar wasn’t set high enough.

Shanghai Restaurant Review Great Chinese food in a great location.... Since Shanghai Chinese Restaurant re-located to the market road opposite the car park in Torre del Mar, I’ve always intended to pay them a visit, but what with the times we are experiencing at present it has been difficult. So I took the family one evening last month and frankly, I’m glad I did! The food was fabulous! Two of us had soup to start, Chicken & Sweetcorn and a Seafood soup. The former looked and tasted just like I remember from my favourite Chinese restaurant in England, delicious. As always, when I have a chinese, for me the Peking Duck with Hoi Sin sauce, spring onion and cucumber is a must. We asked for it to be served after the starters and before the mains. The crispy sliced duck didn’t disappoint, absolutely divine. For mains we plumped for Crispy Chicken and Pineapple and one of their specialities, Babi Pangang. I hadn’t heard of Pangang so was very intrigued as to what it was! Well it turned out to be a great decision! They are basically Asian boneless pork chops in sauce similar to sweet and sour sauce with what looked like chopped chillis, but not spicy in the least, accompanied with noodles three delicious, a truly fantastic dish and will be repeated in the future. The chicken with pineapple was excellent with tender strips of crispy chicken, chunks of pineapple and

peas in a thick tangy sauce. Again with the noodles, simply beautiful. The kids ordered of the children’s menu, chicken balls and noodles for one, chips for the other which included dessert (ice cream of course). Owner Jean, had the old Shanghai tucked away close to the Tourist office, but the nice new restaurant is much more convenient and the quality of food is just as good, possibly better. They serve a day menu for 6.95€ and at night time a menu for 7.95€ So next time you fancy a chinese, don’t look pass the Shanghai, you won’t be disappointed. See main advert below

Axarquia Solicitors Law Office THE IMPORTANCE OF THE TAX FORM 210 (ANNUAL DEEM INCOME TAX) FOR NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY OWNERS In last weeks the Spanish Inland Revenue (Agencia Tributaria) has been carrying out a new campaign to look for and identify those NON-RESIDENTS who own real estate properties in Spain but have not submitted the Tax returns The Tax Returns that all Non-Resident Property owners should be submitting annually is called, Modelo 210, and the period for submitting this declaration is the calendar year, (i.e. 1st January to 31st December each year). The Annual Deem Income Tax due for the tax year 2019, must be paid before the 31st December 2020. The Tax Office is sending amicable letters to those Non-resident property owners who, to date, have failed to present and pay this tax. This communication enables those who have never presented the “Modelo 210”, to be able to rectify the situation voluntarily, without paying any fines or interest. Many NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY OWNERS have not paid these annual taxes, not because they wish to commit tax fraud, but due to mere ignorance of the existence of this tax. Usually because nobody has ever informed them.

Everyone should be aware that ignorance of the Law is not an excuse for not paying this tax, so we recommend any NON-RESIDENT who owns a real estate property in Spain seeks tax advice to make sure they know what their tax obligations in Spain are. The tax form 210 is operated on a self-assessed system. This means that Non-residents have the obligation to prepare, calculate and pay their own Deem Income Tax every year. Nowadays, the Inland Revenue computers can easily check who is not paying these taxes, so it is important to ensure that the annual tax form 210 is paid and submitted on time every year. As this is not an easy process, we recommend that non-resident property owners should get professional assistance to prepare these annual taxes. If you are a NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY OWNER IN SPAIN, you still have plenty of time to comply with this Tax law. It’s better to do it before the Inland Revenue contacts you. Jose M. Ireland is typically believed to be the birthplace of Halloween. Halloween is thought to have originated around 4000 B.C., which means Halloween has been around for over 6,000 years New York is home to the biggest Halloween parade in the U.S. Halloween is the second-largest consumer holiday in the U.S.

There is only a full moon on Halloween three or four times per century. Samhainophobia is the fear of Halloween. Trick-or-treating evolved from the ancient Celtic tradition of putting out treats and food to placate spirits who roamed the streets at Samhain, a sacred festival that marked the end of the Celtic calendar year. According to tradition, if a person wears his or her clothes inside out and then walks backwards on Halloween, he or she will see a witch at midnight. In 2017, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated there were 41 million trick-or-treaters ages 5 to 14 in America. Americans buy enough candy each Halloween week to fill six Titanics.

Stars: Lifei Liu, Jet Li, Tzi Ma Director: Miki Caro Produced by: Walt Disney Running time: 1hr 55mins Rating: PG13 Watch on: Disney+ Set jointly in the Old World and in that newer mythic realm of happily-ever-after female empowerment, this live-action film “Mulan,” directed by Niki Caro, is pretty much what happens when a legend meets Disney’s global bottom-line. It’s lightly funny and a little sad, filled with ravishing landscapes and juiced up with kinetic fights (if not enough of them). It has antiseptic violence, emotional uplift and the kind of protagonist that movie people like to

call relatable: a brave, pretty young woman (the suitably appealing Yifei Liu), who loves her family, but doesn’t quite fit in (yet). She also doesn’t sing — a small mercy given the tuneless warbling in Disney’s 1998 animated film. As in that earlier movie and the original ballad, this “Mulan” is set in motion by love and predicated on a valiant deceit. Shortly after the story kicks in, invaders attack. The emperor (an almost unrecognisable Jet Li) sends out emissaries with the demand that each family send a man to help defend China. Concerned for her father (Tzi Ma), a disabled veteran, Mulan furtively takes his place — as well as his armour and sword — running off to protect him and the country. She tames her hair, binds her breasts, joins the emperor’s forces and soon distinguishes herself while bunking, training and fighting alongside men who remain remarkably oblivious to her deception. All Colours Are Beautiful A humorous way to view the different colours of our skin! This was written by a man in Texas.

When you go in the sun, you get RED,

When I was born, I was BLACK

When you're scared, you're YELLOW,

When I grew up, I was BLACK,

When you get sick, you're GREEN,

When I went in the sun, I stayed BLACK,

When you bruise, you turn PURPLE,

When I got cold, I was BLACK,

And when you die, you look GREY .

When I was scared, I was BLACK,

So why call me coloured!

When you're cold, you turn BLUE,

When I was sick, I was BLACK, And when I die, I'll still be BLACK. NOW, You 'white' folks.... When you're born, you're PINK, When you grow-up, you're WHITE,

To advertise call 664 210 468 or email sales@thesentinella.com Cult comeback Cult game show Blankety Blank is making a comeback – with Bradley Walsh at the helm. BBC bosses have commissioned a top-secret pilot of the popular programme after The Chase star agreed to take on hosting duties. A source told The Mirror: “Bradley is honoured to be following in the footsteps of such great presenters and TV legends. It's a lot of pressure reviving such a well-loved format but Bradley's up for it. If the pilot goes well - and everyone expects it will be a roaring success - a full series will follow.” Fronted by Sir Terry Wogan from its debut in 1979 until 1983, he was succeeded by Les Dawson, the host until 1990. Paul O’Grady presented the revival as alter-ego Lily Savage on the BBC from 1997 to 1999, then on ITV from 2001 to 2002. The show was last on our screens for a one-off ITV Christmas special hosted by David Walliams. Anxiety attacks Stacey Solomon has been showered with praise after revealing she suffers from anxiety. The Loose Women star, 30, made the candid admission on social media when she took to her Instagram Stories to explain she was suddenly hit with a huge gush of dread. The proud mum-of-three said she would be feeling perfectly happy, but then baffled to suddenly be feeling so bad. Stacey lifted the lid on her battle with anxiety with her 3.7 million followers. “Just got a massive wave of anxiety for no reason whatsoever,” she began. “Had a great day, and nothing has happened. It’s just decided to rear its head and say “Hi Stace, I thought it had been a while since your palms sweated profusely and your heart felt like it was holding its breath, so here I am.” Despite her efforts, Stacey couldn’t even relax watching TV as one of the characters on the show she was watching was also suffering with anxiety, more specifically – a panic attack. As the character cried out that he couldn’t catch his breath, Stacey admitted that she could relate to the TV star on several different levels as she attempted to calm herself. polarised viewers with thousands contacting the regulator to express their outrage that the family show had been 'hi-jacked by a political agenda.' Dance troupe Diversity sparked controversy by re-enacting many important news events from the last nine months, including the death of unarmed black man George Floyd in America. In one scene a white “police officer” was seen kneeling on a black dancer’s neck as he lay on the ground with his hands behind his back, while other dancers pretended to take photos of the incident. Later in the performance, the dance troupe were seen taking the knee and crying out “I can't breathe” in scenes echoing the Black Lives Matter movement that has taken off this year. As complaints to regulator Ofcom flooded in, ITV replied: "Ashley [Banjo] and the group are a great example of the talent, creativity and diversity of modern Britain and their performance was an authentic, heartfelt response to many of the issues and events which have affected society in 2020." Naughty Phil! Michael McIntyre got This Morning's Phillip Schofield presenter into hot water with a cheeky question. He asked Phil about his release date for his autobiography, and a red-faced Phil told him the answer before realising he is not allowed to promote his own products on the show. Michael appeared via video link. "Have you been busy Phil? Aren't you writing a book, Phil?" he asked. Phil replied: "Yeah, I've done that... it's all done, all finished." "All finished! When is it out?" asked Michael as Phil giggled and co-presenter Holly Willoughby gasped. "October 15th... I don't think I'm allowed to say, we're not allowed to talk about my stuff!" Schofield replied, realising he was not supposed to make the announcement. Holly scolded Phil: "You are going to be in trouble now!"

Random Jokes :) Two English businessmen in London were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store. As yet, the store wasn't ready, with only a few shelves set up. One said to the other, "I bet any minute now some thick tourist is going to walk by, put his face to the window and ask what we're selling." No sooner were the words out of his mouth when sure enough, a curious Irishman walked to the window, had a peek and in a broad

Irish accent asked, "What are you selling' here?" One of the men replied sarcastically, "We're selling a***holes." Without skipping a beat, the Irishman said, "I see you're doing well ... Only two left!" ------------------------------------------------------------My friend doesn’t like to talk about his psoriasis. He’d rather just sweep it under the carpet.

Unspoilt Andalusia Modern is good too! Our business is called Unspoilt Andalusia, which people tend to associate with beautiful old, half-ruined cortijos “ripe for renovation, with beams and flagstone floors hidden away in the hills, or pretty, quirky houses in the little whitewashed villages of Andalusia, and we love all of that! The other day we saw two houses we have sold within the last year, which have been beautifully renovated by the current owners with amazing results and that is one of the most pleasing things about this job! Happy owners in beautiful properties! But you know, MODERN IS GOOD TOO!! We have recently seen some of the most lovely apartments and modern houses being offered for sale in Torre del Mar, most of them currently being built, that look stunning! Comfortable, mega-ecological apartments, with glass walls letting in maximum light and views, with good sized terraces, stunning, stylish finishing inside and out, places where everything is streamlined and flows beautifully, properties in which the latest

technology can be pre-installed into every room, so you can tell your house to close the curtains or turn out the lights - that is living in style and we love all of that too! And Torre del Mar is becoming increasingly a very lovely town to consider living in, with money being invested to improve it all the time and even a new theatre/concert hall about to be built. For anyone looking for a radical change, check out the apartments under our ref. AX1000. By Toni Waterman, Unspoilt Andalusia (see advertisement below)

Spanish Cuisine : Sunshine On A Plate Think of Spain’s cuisine and your mind will probably conjure up images of paella or tapas. However, Spain is much more versatile than just these well known dishes. It is a country full of flavour and fresh ingredients with many regional varieties. Luckily Axarquía has some great options when it comes to restaurants and eating out. In addition, local produce can be found at the many markets here. The bustling, large Vélez-Málaga Thursday market is a good option or the smaller, more intimate Trapiche market held on Tuesday mornings.

Fresh fish The fish counters in the supermarkets surpass anything that you’ll see elsewhere. Queues form at a weekend as every conceivable seafood and shellfish seems to be on offer. It’s so fresh that you can almost smell the sea air as you buy. Get a selection, stick them in a deep pot bubbling with white wine and herbs for 10 minutes and enjoy with the bread baked fresh at your local panaderia. A multitude of meat We might live near the coast but we also have the benefit of the mountains and with them comes all sorts of meat: lamb, goat, wild boar to name a few. There’s a plethora of asadors in the area and everyone has their own favourite one where meat is grilled to perfection on huge open charcoal BBQ’s. It’s difficult not to love this style of cooking, unless you’re a vegetarian! Sunshine on a plate : be creative

Olive oil from Axarquía : possibly the best in Spain The Mediterranean diet is renowned for its health benefits and high quality olive oil in your pan will not only add authenticity to your dishes, it has been shown to be good for health too. There’s a massive choice to choose from but look for the Malaga stamp then you can be guaranteed to be getting a locally produced product. Better still recycle, and armed with an empty, clean plastic bottle take a trip to your local olive oil factory. It can’t get fresher than that! Don’t be surprised if you’re given a shot glass to test the golden liquid. After all, it is poured neat onto salads. Vegetable variety Look for seasonal vegetables or watch what the locals are buying. Sweet white onions, avocados, tomatoes, huge bulbs of fresh garlic, mangoes all are grown here. It’s like a trip to a healthy sweet shop. Be aware that not as many chemicals are used in the agriculture here, so it’s as well to buy what you need and eat it quickly!

I love cooking and experimenting. Axarquía allows me to fulfil my hobby in a spectacular way. A quick, easy and delicious sharing meal using lots of local produce that I make is a chicken dish. I throw chicken thighs, skinned or otherwise, into a pot with white onions, garlic (both of which I’ve softened in local olive oil). I add tomatoes, maybe some peppers and I use white wine as my stock. If I’m feeling lavish, I’ll add some cream at the end. Otherwise, within 30 minutes, it is good to go. Once ready, I’ll serve my dish Spanish style placed in the middle of the table - ready for sharing. In summer, the best accompaniments are a fresh green salad with finely sliced red onion and a bowl of olives. Weather is nearly always permitting, so my Spanish chicken is a perfect patio dinner for the whole family or friends or just us. Sitting outdoors, sharing this delicious dish seems like sunshine on a plate. This is the main meal so this is served mid afternoon and certainly prepares us for a siesta! And, for a change, I replace the chicken with homemade meatballs. Then I have created a wonderfully scrumptious albondigas con tomate. Olé! Written by Grimble

Sparkling Wines From Germany German wines have an excellent reputation, globally. Riesling grapes are outstanding for the productions of high-quality wines, which range from deliciously dry, through to very sweet. The cool climate, in and around the Rheingau area, suits this grape variety perfectly. The WineBarn imports and then makes available, fine wines with exceptional qualities. Iris Ellmann is MD and one of the UK’s first members of The Riesling Fellowship. The WineBarn and the wines

offered have received numerous prestigious awards. A rare and antique wine sourcing service is also offered. Allendorf, based in the Rheingau region, has a family history dating back 700+ years. Allendorf Sekt Brut (12.5% vol) I found to be very refreshing, enticing with a citrus fruit bouquet, for the nasal pleasures. The flavours of fruits on the mouthfeel continue through to the palate’s enjoyment, for this elegant production. Two fermentations, with the second being for a minimum of 12 months, contribute to an end result, very much favoured by many. www.thewinebarn.co.uk/collections/allendorf Bassermann-Jordan estate, based in the Pfalz region, was founded in 1718. Popular with many sparkling wine lovers, is their Riesling Sekt Brut (12% vol). Following the pressing and fermentation processes, this Sekt’s fermentation continues in the bottle for approximately 12 months. The fruity bouquet appeals and leads to the mouth’s indulgence,

which is refreshing and elegant, through to the very last drop. www.thewinebarn.co.uk/collections/bassermann-jordan Solter, also based in the Rheingau region, produce a fantastic Rosé Brut (13% vol). It has refreshing red fruit flavours, following the nose’s delight on the bouquet. Splendid for adding colour to any occasion, and particularly popular for al fresco dining. 100% Pinot Noir grapes are used to great advantage, for the production of this wine. www.thewinebarn/collections/solter

These superb sparkling wines, all with wonderful perlages, are great by themselves and make a fabulous accompaniment for many cuisines, too. The WineBarn offers an ordering system that is easy and available online, also. Existing clients include Michelin-starred restaurants, hotels and private clients, plus retailers, homes and offices. ) : a h a Jokes h Doctor! I have a serious problem, I can never remember what I just said. When did you first notice this problem? What problem? ------------------------------------------------------------A man said to his wife one day, 'I don't know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time. 'The wife responded, 'Allow me to explain, God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!' ------------------------------------------------------------A man entered the bus with both of his front pockets full of golf balls and sat down next to a beautiful (you guessed it) blonde. The puzzled blonde kept looking at him and his bulging pockets. Finally, after many such glances from her, he said, 'Its golf balls'. Nevertheless, the blonde continued to look at him for a very long time, deeply thinking about what he had said. After several minutes, not being able to contain her curiosity any longer, she asked; 'Does it hurt as much as tennis elbow?' ------------------------------------------------------------Whilst doing his weekly rounds, a dustbin man went to a Japanese man’s house and couldn’t find the bin. So he knocked on the door and when the Japanese man answered he said, “Hello mate where’s your bin”. The Japanese man replied, “I bin to Tokyo”. The bin man replied, “No, where’s your wheelie bin?”. Then Japanese man replied, “No I wheelie bin 2 Tokyo”. ------------------------------------------------------------The Archbishop of Canterbury has partially got his way, British weather has been declared Muslim. It's either Sunni or Shiite ------------------------------------------------------------The nice thing about being senile is you can hide your own Easter eggs.

I've sure gotten old! I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes, I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank God, I still have my driver's licence. ------------------------------------------------------------I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my leotard on, the class was over. ------------------------------------------------------------A married man was having an affair with his secretary. One day they went to her place and made love all afternoon. Exhausted, they fell asleep and woke up at 8pm. The man hurriedly dressed and told his lover to take his shoes outside and rub them in the grass and dirt. He put on his shoes and drove home. ‘Where have you been?' his wife demanded. 'I can't lie to you,' he replied, 'I'm having an affair with my secretary. We had sex all afternoon.' She looked down at his shoes and said: 'You lying bastard! You've been playing golf!' ------------------------------------------------------------A couple drove down a country road for several miles not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, 'Relatives of yours?' 'Yep,' the wife replied, 'in-laws.'

Jokes h a ha A divorced man meets his ex-wife's new husband at a party. After knocking back a few drinks, he goes over to the new guy and asks him: 'So... how do you like using second hand stuff?' To which the new husband replied: 'It isn't that bad. Past the first 3 inches, it's all brand new. ------------------------------------------------------------A teacher asks her class of 3rd graders to use the word "fascinate" in a sentence. She calls on a small boy sitting in the front row. "I saw an air show. And it was very fascinating." "Good, but I wanted you to use the word 'fascinate,' not 'fascinating.' She then calls on a girl sitting off to the left. "I saw some monkeys. They were very fascinating." "Good, but I wanted you to use the word 'fascinate,' not 'fascinating.'" Billy's hand shoots up into the air and she calls on him. "Teacher, teacher! I got one!" "Go ahead, Billy." "My sister's shirt has ten buttons, but her boobies are so big she can only fascinate." ------------------------------------------------------------A cabbie picks up a nun. She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring. He replies: 'I have a question to ask you but I don't want to offend you.' She answers, 'My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive.' 'Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me.' She responds, 'Well, let's see what we can do about that: Number 1, you have to be single and

Number 2, you must be Catholic.' The cab driver is very excited! and says, 'Yes, I'm single and Catholic!' 'OK' the nun says. 'Pull in to the next alley.' The nun fulfills his fantasy, with a kiss that would make a hooker blush. But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying. 'My dear child,' says the nun, 'why are you crying?' 'Forgive me but I've sinned. I lied and I must confess, I'm married and I'm Jewish.' The nun says, 'That's OK. My name is Kevin and I'm going to a Halloween party.' ------------------------------------------------------------It was a sunny morning, a little before 8am on the first hole of a busy course and I was beginning my pre-shot routine, visualising my upcoming shot when a piercing voice came over the clubhouse loud speaker. “Would the gentleman on the woman's tee back up to the men's tee please!.” I could feel every eye on the course looking at me. I was still deep in my routine seemingly impervious to the interruption. Again the announcement. “Would the man on the woman's tee kindly back up to the men's tee.” I simply ignored the guy and kept concentrating when once more, the man yelled, “Would the man on the woman's tee back up to the men's tee ... please!” I finally stopped, turned, cupped my hands and shouted back, “Would the arsehole with the microphone please be quiet and let me play my second shot.” ------------------------------------------------------------Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, "How old was your husband?" "98," she replied. "Two years older than me" "So you're 96," the undertaker commented. She responded, "Hardly worth going home, is it?
