m Fro Ed... the Well, here we go again! October is supposedly the ‘BREXIT month’ — planned this time for the 31st. As the saying goes, let’s hope it will be third time lucky because I don’t think I know anyone who isn’t heartily sick of the whole thing. So fingers crossed for a good outcome despite many of the highly questionable delaying tactics used by politicians on BOTH sides of the Channel who appear to be taking not a blind bit of notice of what the voters — both in the UK and the EU — actually want! It’s now been almost three and a half years since the UK voters opted to leave the EU, and some of the rowdy scenes in the British parliament have beggared belief — ‘spoilt kindergarten brats’ is a phrase that springs to mind! We all deserve an end to this continual wrangling, scare-mongering and uncertainty, so that we can put our lives — and businesses — back on track. Although much-needed, the first rain of the winter wasn’t good. Torrential downpours sadly claimed the lives of six people due to extensive flooding from rivers bursting their banks around Spain, affecting mainly the areas of Valencia, Murcia and Eastern Andalucia. I hope this is not the start of a terrible winter in store for us. Last month I was lucky enough to take an evening out and visited the amazing Cirque de Soleil – Kooza in Málaga. If you have seen the big circus tent in the Málaga feria car park, then this is where it is held. I had heard many people praising it last year and I just had to visit to see for myself; sometimes the reality doesn’t live up to the hype, though, so I was prepared for anything.

However, on entering the tent — which was filled to the brim with not an empty seat in the house — you could sense the excitement in the air. I was looking forward to this and I wasn’t disappointed: when the show began, it was spectacular from start to finish.

Strange News Not to give too much away, this circus act is recognised and applauded all over the world. The talent is amazing, the acts were fantastic, the clowns hilarious and the musicians were impressive — each and every one of them magnificently showing off their various skills throughout the two-hour show. Cirque de Soleil is in Málaga until Sunday 13th October, so there is still time to watch this wonderful show. Although I don’t think you can still buy tickets online, I have heard you can turn up at the event and hopefully get lucky if there are any seats spare. If not you will have to wait and get an early booking for next year. Finally, I would like to say a massive thank you to Lynn and Dave from Bar Viva in Torre del Mar for being such wonderful and loyal clients of The Sentinella for the past 13 and a half years!! Sadly, they had to close their doors due to personal reasons at the end of September. I am sure many of you would agree that they have done a marvellous job in Bar Viva and we hope whoever succeeds them continues to make it as much of a success. Sending love and best wishes to Lynn and Dave for the future. x Happy Halloween, everyone….. and enjoy this month’s read!

Ice pack A man claimed to have come up with a way to stop Hurricane Dorian in its tracks. The devastating hurricane slammed into the Bahamas last month, where 150mph winds and a 20ft storm surge led to widespread devastation, flooding and the loss of several lives. The unnamed man told a local TV station in Florida that America’s military should just dump ice over the eye of the storm to ‘combat’ all the warm water. He also suggested the air force should fly some planes the ‘opposite way’ around the hurricane to stop the 220mph winds. “I don’t see how they didn’t come up with some way to combat those storms,” he said. “They are down to warm weather and warm water, so why didn’t the Navy just come and drop ice in the warm water so it couldn’t get going as fast as it did?” His hilarious idea appeared to have been inspired by the TV show Futurama, which said humans will counteract global warming by simply dropping a giant ice cube into the ocean every once in a while. Or it could have sprung from US president Donald Trump’s alleged remark that surely “the military could just ‘nuke’ hurricanes before they make landfall.” Urgent need A driver caught speeding at 110mph on the A1 in Cambridgeshire claimed he “needed a number two.” A silver Mercedes was stopped by an unmarked police car near Yaxley in Cambridgeshire. It was seen speeding and undertaking in ‘awful’ weather conditions. An officer from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Roads Policing Unit wrote on Twitter: ‘The driver said he was very sorry but he “needed the toilet — a number two”. Drivers caught speeding in excess of 100mph face disqualification from the road rather than penalty points, but the decision is at the discretion of the court.

Strange News (Continued) Thumb surprise A student shot to internet fame after showing off his shockingly-long five-inch thumb. Jacob Pina from Westport, Massachusetts, has been dubbed ‘thumb boy’ after people got a look at his unusually long digit. The 20-year-old said he has no idea why his thumb is so out of proportion with the rest of his hand, but he has used it to shock people online. His elongated digit rapidly earned him an online following — in just a few days, Pina gained more than 145,000 followers on music video creation app TikTok by unveiling his thumb. One of the videos was liked two million times.
Unusual passenger A horse was seen waiting for the train on a South Shields metro platform recently. In a photo, the animal appears to be waiting calmly on the platform at the unmanned metro station in Brockley Whins. Thankfully, it was led back to its field by a quick-thinking member of the public before it could join commuters on their way in to work. A photo of the horse was posted on Twitter by Will Mapplebeck. He captioned it: ‘Just when you think you’ve seen it all.’“It was funny, but potentially dangerous for the animal,” he said. “It was reported to station staff and control room by fellow passengers.”Nexus, the company in charge of Tyne and Wears metro, reduced train speeds in the area until it was sure that there was no danger of a collision.

Halloween If it’s your first Halloween living here in Spain, what a shock you’ll be in for! Over the past ten years the whole Halloween thing has become extremely popular. Pumpkin sales rocket at this time of the year, fancy dress parties are popular and many clubs and bars hold special Halloween nights to celebrate the ghoulish occasion. Top all that off with hundreds of children trick or treating in the streets, looking for bags of sweets and goodies to take back home. It was America that kicked off the Halloween party trend. But why do so many people feel compelled to celebrate such a chilling time? The word Halloween originates from the Catholic church. It stems from All Hallows Day (or All Saints Day) - a Catholic day of observance in honour of saints. The ancient Celtic fire festival called Samhain (October 31st) the free spirits of all those who had died throughout the preceding year would come back in search of living bodies to possess for the next. It was believed to be their only hope of enjoying afterlife. Naturally, the still living did not want to be possessed, so on the night of October 31, villagers would extinguish the fires in their homes. Then they would dress in ghoulish costumes and noisily parade around the town to frighten away spitits looking for bodies to possess.
Trick or Treating is thought to have stemmed from a ninth-century European custom called souling. On November 2 (All Souls Day) Christians would walk from village to village begging for ‘soul cakes’ - square pieces of bread with currants. The more soul cakes the beggars received, the more prayers they would say on behalf of the dead relative of the donors. For the Spanish, November 1st is a public holiday. It is a time to remember the dead and visit graveyards, as well as a reason to eat even more ‘dulces’ or sweet things than usual. Spainards take a trip to the bakery to celebrate Halloween. Especially popular cakes purchased at this time of year include Huesos de Santos (Marzipan bones filled with sweetened egg yolk) and bunuelos (fried baby donuts filled with cream or chocolate). These are in effect their ‘soul cakes’. According to the Spanish for every bunuelo you eat another soul is rescued from purgatory and if you eat a ‘bone’ it means you are not afraid of the dead. In Northern Spain chestnuts are traditionally eaten. Trade also booms for florists at this time of the year, as relatives of the dead adorn their loved ones graves with chrysanthemums or carnations in yellow or white. However you spend Halloween this year, just make sure you try one of those ‘soul cakes!’ Happy Halloween!

Getting Petty... Do you have a dog or a cat and get moaned at by your friends and rellies who don’t like them...? Then read the following, which could be printed off and hung on a front door if wanted... To all non-pet owners who visit and like to complain about our pets: 1. They live here. You don’t. 2. If you don’t want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That’s why they call it ‘fur’niture.)
2. Don’t ask for money all the time. 3. Are easier to train. 4. Usually come when called. 5. Never drive your car. 6. Don’t hang out with drug-using friends. 7. Don’t smoke or drink. 8. Don’t worry about having to buy the latest fashions. 9. Don’t wear your clothes. 10. Don’t need a gazillion euros for college, and.. 11. If they get pregant, you can pass their children on.
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people. 4. To you, it’s an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn’t speak clearly. Remember: Dogs and cats are better then kids because they: 1. Eat less.

Random Jokes A wife, being an old romantic, sent her husband a text. “If you are sleeping, send me your dreams. If you are laughing, send me your smile. If you are eating, send me a bite. If you are drinking, send me a sip. If you are crying, send me your tears. I love you.” The husband, being a typical non-romantic replied, “I’m on the toilet, please advise.” ------------------------------------------------------------During a U2 concert in Belfast, Bono asked

Sterling Rocked By Chaotic Month In UK Politics Staying on top of the latest currency news can help you time your transfers more effectively, so find out what you should be looking out for over the next month… Latest currency news A flurry of UK political developments have created significant Sterling volatility over the last month. This saw the GBP/EUR trade between 1.09 and 1.13 with EUR/GBP retreating to 0.88. Meanwhile, GBP/USD has climbed from 1.21 to 1.25 (having struck a three-year low of 1.19 along the way) whilst EUR/USD held steady at 1.10. What’s been happening? The pound has experienced dramatic swings over the last month as it was rocked by UK political developments. Sterling initially plummeted when Boris Johnson announced that parliament would be suspended for five-weeks from early September. However subsequent movement in the pound has been largely positive, as Johnson faced a number of setbacks and the odds of a no-deal Brexit fell. A string of upbeat UK economic data added to the upside in Sterling, including a robust GDP reading. Occupying almost all the attention of EUR investors over the last month has been the European Central Bank and its long awaited stimulus package. The stimulus measures were ultimately received positively by markets, helping to buoy the single currency going into the second half of September. Finally, trade in the US dollar has been mixed in recent weeks in response to rising fears that a US recession could be looming following an inversion in the US bond yield
curve and Fed rate cut speculation. What do you need to look out for? UK political developments are likely to continue acting as the main catalyst of movement in the pound as we get closer to the current Brexit deadline on 31 October. The upcoming EU summit in mid-October will likely be key for GBP investors, as all bets will be off if Boris Johnson fails to secure a deal by then. Meanwhile, the euro may struggle to find support over the coming month if German data remains in the doldrums. Finally, the US dollar may be particularly sensitive to economic data in the coming weeks, as markets look to gauge whether the US economy may be drifting towards a recession. Nectarines, a delicious fruit in their own right, offer tremendous benefits. They enhance immunity, protect vision and help prevent several deadly diseases. They also help improve skin health. They are rich in fibre, too. This aids digestion both mechanically and by contributing to a diverse microbiome (fibre feeds the probiotics in the gut) and fights against several abdominal ailments, including stomach and colon cancers. The fibre in nectarines is mostly soluble, which can aid weight loss by converting water into a gel-like substance in the intestines, which then prevents the cholesterol and fats from being absorbed into the blood. The high levels of potassium the fruit contains can help manage blood pressure levels. The deficiency of potassium in the bloodstream can lead to heart muscle weakness and disturbances with its rhythm. Potassium also regulates the acid and water content in the body tissues. It helps build muscle, supports growth, and improves the functioning of the nerve cells. Potassium can also help regulate blood pressure levels, by relaxing the walls of the blood vessels. The beta-carotene and vitamin C in nectarines are powerful antioxidants that strengthen immunity and can stem the onset of some diseases. These sumptuous stone fruits are low in calories and have a low glycaemic index, which means they can be a ‘go-to’ food for diabetics as well, when paired with adequate protein and fat. They contain copper that is involved with energy metabolism and may help you stay active for longer hours.
According to a study, the intake of a minimum of two servings of nectarines or peaches in a week can cut the risk of breast cancer in post-menopausal women. The quercetin and chlorogenic acid in nectarines were found to stall cancer cell proliferation. The carotenoids (yellow pigments) and anthocyanins (red pigments) can prevent the inflammation that causes cancer, and white-fleshed nectarines contain catechins that fight the disease too. Nectarines also contribute to bile acid binding, which prevents the recirculation of bile acid within the stomach, so aids the excretion of potentially cancer-causing toxins from the body. One of the best benefits of nectarines is their potential to enhance immunity, due to their vitamin C content. Vitamin C also aids the body in the process of regenerating vitamin E – another nutrient that fights free radicals and strengthens the immune system. It can also prevent potential UV damage, as well as playing a role in the synthesis of collagen, the protein essential for skin’s integrity. The beta-carotene and other carotenoids in nectarines also contribute to the immune function in the body. The vitamin A in nectarines can help fight infections. It strengthens the cell walls and protects the mucus membranes against invading bacteria. A higher intake of lutein and zeaxanthin can decrease the risk of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Lutein can also help prevent another eye ailment called retinitis pigmentosa, which is a group of eye disorders causing progressive damage to the retina. Lutein can reduce the risk of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.

WWW.SAILNPLAY.COM Record dolphin sightings on Spain’s Costa Tropical Top boat charter operator Salinplay claim that the population of dolphins along the Costa Tropical is at an all-time high with sightings almost every day through summer 2019. As owner Mike Shaw Roberts explains, “We have been sailing these waters almost every day for 12 years, and we have never seen so many dolphins in the summer months as we have this year”. Now operating 3 charter boats daily from Marina del Este, he went on to say, “We are on the water for up to 13 hours a day from June to November, and we log every dolphin sighting. This year we have sighted dolphins on 78% of all our trips, up a massive 23% from the previous high of 2017. So now, more than threequarters of our guests are
having a real-life natural dolphin experience when they take one of our trips.” Asked why he thought this was he went on to explain: “Dolphins are not territorial (unlike whales) and they basically follow fish, which they feed on. Cooler water temperatures this summer have kept the fish closer to shore, and also kept the dreaded jellyfish away, so the dolphins are still around in our local inshore waters feeding. So, for most of our lucky guests it continues to be a win-win situation, no jellyfish and plenty of dolphins.” To spot dolphins before the winter call Mike on 669 118 816 or go to the website www.sailnplay.com See main adverts on pages 10, 80, 95 and below.

Y Factors ??? Things that make me scream WHY? Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him? Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets? Why is it that no matter what colour bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white? Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialised? Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vaccum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vaccum one more chance? In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat? Answers on a postcard please!

Insurance Advice From Meridiano What do I do if someone in my family dies in Spain? Dealing with the death of a loved one can be a very emotional process, so it is a good idea to find out certain facts which will be helpful in these difficult situations, particularly if you are in a foreign country. Here, Meridiano Seguros will explain what process to follow if you experience the death of a family member in Spain. Step 1 - Have a doctor certify the death If you're not in a hospital, call 112 and report the situation. Make sure you have the deceased person's documents at hand (National ID no., passport, etc.). Step 2 - Contact your insurance company As soon as you call Meridiano Seguros on 900 408 200, we will set in motion the funeral service procedure as arranged in your Family Protection or Single Payment Insurance Policy. Step 3 – Inform family and friends Tell your closest family and friends first and then the rest of your acquaintances. A funeral advisor will always be ready to assist you, with information about the funeral parlour data and ceremony times. Step 4 – Managing documents The Meridiano Seguros’ GEA will carry out the necessary post-mortem procedures after a death, and also advise you on other formalities such as transfers, additional documentation, etc.. If you are a customer of Meridiano Seguros, we will take care of the entire process, paperwork and expenses associated with the funeral service. We will also make sure that the funeral service is performed as planned, so that your family will not have to cope with making decisions on top of everything else. You will also be assisted by excellent service-oriented professionals that will help you with any doubts you may have.
The Funeral Insurance and Single Payment Policy also gives you additional services such as • Health & wellness Get answers to your medical questions with just one call and get discounts at private clinics and wellness centres on services such as: 24hr assistance by medical specialists, second medical opinion and hospitalisation compensation. • Legal Assistance Get a lawyer's advice by telephone on legal issues such as: managing procedures after a death, drafting and review of documents and contracts, while Plus legal assistance will defend you against third-party and criminal liabilities, among others. • Travel assistance One of the many types of cover in Travel Assistance is that we will be responsible for: sending documents, medical expenses, health transfers or repatriations and claiming compensation from airlines. Little Johnny Little Johnny is taking a shower with his mother and says, "Mum, what are those things on your chest!?" Unsure of how to reply, she tells Johnny to ask his dad at breakfast tomorrow, quite certain the matter would be forgotten. Johnny didn't forget. The following morning he asked his father the same question. His father, always quick with the answers, says, "Why Johnny, those are balloons. When your mummy dies, we can blow them up and she'll
float to heaven." Johnny thinks that's neat and asks no more questions. A few weeks later, Johnnys' dad comes home from work a few hours early. Johnny runs out of the house crying hysterically, "Daddy! Daddy! Mummy's dying!!" His father says, "Calm down son! Why do you think Mummy's dying?" "Uncle Harry is blowing up Mummys' balloons and she's screaming, "Oh God, I'm coming!"

Halloween Stories Halloween is a time when we dress up as ghosts and goblins and tell mythical horror tales. But not every horror story from Halloween is made up. Here we give you some true life stories which happened around the spooky annual event... 1) A nine-year-old dressed in a Halloween costume was accidentally shot by a relative who thought she was a skunk. The girl was stood outside her Pennsylvania home during a party when the incident happened. Police said the girl was wearing a black costume and a black hat with a white tassel. A male relative apparently mistook her for a skunk and fired a shotgun, hitting her in the
shoulder, arm, back and neck. She was rushed to hospital following the incident at Halloween last year. 2) When locals in Frederica, Delaware saw a body hanging from a tree during Halloween in 2005 they assumed it was a scary decoration. Sadly, they couldn't have been more wrong. It was actually the body of a 42-year-old woman. She had been left hanging from the tree for three hours before residents realised it was an actual person. 3) Sadly, there are many Halloween horror stories were people have accidentally hung themselves trying to trick friends and relatives. During a Halloween party in 1990, 15-year-old William Anthony Odem, from North Carolina, accidentally hung himself while staging a dramatic gallows scene. Be careful out there!!

Happy Marriage The secrets of a happy marriage: *Remember that marriage is the number one cause of divorce! *Statistically, 100% of all divorces started with marriage. *My wife and I have the secret to making a marriage last: Twice a week, we go to a little restaurant, have some good food, a little wine and companionship. She goes on Tuesday and I go Friday. We sleep in separate beds, hers is Sydney, mine in London. I take my wife everywhere, but she keeps finding her way back. I asked her where she wanted to go for our anniversary, “Somewhere I haven’t been for a long time” she said. So I suggested the kitchen. We always hold hands; if I let go, she shops.
I haven’t spoken to her for eighteen months: I don’t like to interrupt her. The last time we had a fight, it was my fault. She asked, “What’s that on the TV?” I said , “dust”.

A-Z Of Spain Following on from The Sentinella’s journey through the alphabet to discover the joys of Spain. This month we bring you the letters Qs and Rs Quincena This is a Spanish word - the term they use for a fortnight, which actually translates as 15 days, not 14, (which we call fortnight). Quitasol This is a sunshade or parasol in Spanish and in the summer when it comes to lying on the beach for hours on end, plotting under one of these is highly neccessary. They come in all sorts of colours and each and every one is just as difficult to poke into the sand so it stays put. Chasing it along the beach in strong winds is also a common sight. Random Jokes :) A blonde girl calls her boyfriend and says, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get it started.” Her boyfriend asks, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?” The blonde says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a tiger.” Her boyfriend decides to go over and help her with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger.” He takes her hand and says, “Secondly, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of tea, and then....” he sighed, “...let’s put all these Frosties back in the box!” ------------------------------------------------------------An 80-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting. When she went before the judge he asked her, “What did you steal?” She replied, “A can of peaches.”
The judger then asked her how many peaches were in the can. She replied: “Six.” The judge then said: “I will give you six days in jail.” Before the judge could pronounce the punishment the husband spoke up and said: “She also stole a can of peas.” ------------------------------------------------------------Two hunters are out in the woods in New Jersey when one of them collapses. He doesn’t seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, “My friend is dead! What can I do?” The operator says: “Calm down, I can help you. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.” There is a silence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says: “Ok, now what?”

Accompanied by a ragtag group of teens and Boots the monkey, Dora embarks on a quest to save her parents when they find themselves in danger while trying to solve the seemingly impossible mystery behind the lost Indian/American civilisation of the Incas. The group fight to overcome numerous perils including quicksand, Inca ruin puzzles and attacks by the forest guards of Parapata. s Now od b e l Ce en & Eastwo Th Clint American legend Clint Eastwood, born in 1930 in San Francisco, did not find worldwide success until his late 30s. In his youth, he worked in menial jobs and had a stint at Fort Ord Military Reservation. He enrolled at Los Angeles City College, but dropped out to pursue acting. During the mid-50s he found uncredited bit parts in such B-films as Revenge of the Creature (1955) and Tarantula (1955), while simultaneously digging swimming pools to supplement his income. In 1958, at the age of 28, he landed his first notable acting role as Rowdy Yates in the long-running TV show Rawhide — allegedly because while he was visiting a friend at the CBS lot, a studio executive spotted him and thought he "looked like a cowboy." Clint’s big-screen breakthrough came as The Man with No Name in Sergio Leone's trilogy of spaghetti Westerns: A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965) and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). The US release of these films in 1967 saw Clint — then 37 — rise from undistinguished TV actor to sought-after box office attraction in just a matter of months. More success followed with Hang 'Em High (1968) and Coogan's Bluff (1968). In Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970) and Kelly's Heroes (1970), Clint experimented with combining tough-guy action with offbeat humour — something he later did often.
He made his directorial debut with the thriller Play Misty for Me (1971). His role in the Dirty Harry series, meanwhile, gave him cultural icon status and spawned his famous catchphrase ‘Go on punk, make my day.’ Other major successes included High Plains Drifter (1973) and The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) — his first of six onscreen collaborations with his then live-in lover Sondra Locke — road adventures Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) and The Gauntlet (1977), and the fact-based prison film Escape from Alcatraz (1979). He branched out into comedy in 1978 with Every Which Way but Loose (1978), which became the biggest financial hit of his career. His dark Western Unforgiven (1992) garnered the then 62-year-old his first Academy Award nomination (Best Actor), and an Oscar win for Best Director. He showed another side of him in the love story, The Bridges of Madison County (1995), co-starring Meryl Streep. More recent successes behind the camera include J. Edgar (2011), Jersey Boys (2014), American Sniper (2014) and Sully (2016), starring Tom Hanks. His latest project, in which he stars as an unlikely drug courier, is The Mule (2018). He has managed to keep much of his personal life under wraps, but has been married twice and is believed to have fathered more than eight children by at least six different women. Sondra Locke published a cuting memoir in 1997 when their relationship ended. He served as mayor of the town of Carmel, where he owned a hotel and restaurant, and he also owns property in Monterey, northern California, Idaho's Sun Valley and Maui, Hawaii.
To advertise call 664 210 468 or email sales@thesentinella.com Tina talks Legendary singer Tina Turner has said she could never forgive her former husband Ike, after detailing the abuse she suffered during their marriage. The 79-year-old superstar recently admitted she cannot accept why he abused her before their split in 1976. Ike died in 2007. The singer has recalled the years of abuse which saw her attempt suicide, but revealed that she hasn’t detailed the full extent of her suffering until now, due to ‘shame’. ‘I had a terrible life, but I just kept going,’ she told the New York Times. Tina first documented the violence in her marriage in her 1986 book I, Tina, while last year another autobiography detailed a suicide attempt, claiming Ike had forced her to go back to work despite suffering terrible stomach cramps and being overcome with nausea. She admitted that the attempt hadn’t been a cry for help — she had chosen death. But it gave her hope to survive, and she never attempted to take her own life again. Tina revealed how she endured regular beatings from her husband, claiming that he broke her jaw and gave her third-degree burns. ‘He used my nose as a punching bag so many times that I could taste blood running down my throat when I sang,’ she revealed. Love Island split Love Island’s Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea, who won this year’s series, are no longer a couple. They have now parted ways, with Amber claiming the rugby player dumped her by text, and Greg arguing it was a mutual and drawn-out process over FaceTime. Either way, the relationship lasted just five weeks, making them the fastest-ever winning couple to end it.

When the news broke, angry fans demanded that Greg give back the £25,000 share of the £50,000 prize he won back in July.
More Price strife Beleaguered former ‘glamour model’ Katie Price reportedly ‘grabbed a woman’s head’ after getting kicked out of a nightclub in Brighton. The mum-of-five, 41, was allegedly ‘staggering from room to room’ at Prizm club recently and was asked to leave after appearing to be ‘too drunk’. ‘She was staggering around with someone who appeared to work at the nightclub,’ a source said. ‘Another member of staff later told her that she had to leave, but Katie then grabbed the woman’s head. ‘It was quite dramatic, but the lady didn’t make any fuss – Katie lives near Brighton so I guess they know her at the club – and she was quickly sent packing.’ Calmer Kardashians The Kardashian-West household is feeling more peaceful these days, and Kim credits newest arrival Psalm for the new-found calm. The mother of four says her other children, North, six; Saint, three and Chicago, 20 months, all get along much better now that their baby brother is here. She said: ‘I feel like having four is so much more zen. ‘My two older kids would fight a little bit but now, since the baby’s here, everyone gets along. It’s great.’ Kim and husband Kanye West welcomed the baby into the world in May via a surrogate.

ipad Neck, A.K.A Texting Neck!!! As a massage therapist I am quite astonished how, over the years of treating patients, that more and more people are coming for massage to treat “ipad neck”. Yes, this term really exists and obviously doesn´t just refer to ipads but to all tablets and phones that we spend long periods of time using.
shoulder muscles. The longer you use an ipad, the more strain your eyes experience. The strain from these muscles can also lead to headaches.
"ipad neck" is defined as persistent pain in the neck and upper shoulders caused by slouching or bending into extreme positions while using tablet computers and is a growing problem among us. This is because many people who use the device are in a sitting position with the tablet placed on their lap, which is not an ideal posture.
Poor neck posture from bending your head down can cause strain of the neck as well as
Try not to use the device for long periods of time and when using it, try and place it at eye level either on a stand or table. Also make sure you stretch your neck and shoulders if you start to experience pain. If you suffer chronic pain then seek medical advice and massage therapy. Letter Of Appreciation About Esola Systems Living here in Spain has its ups and downs and fortunately for us, the ups outweigh the downs, but sometimes, problems arise and we need professional help.
But as promised — and although Mark doesn't normally work weekends — one Sunday morning, just before Jessica arrived, I received a phone call from him to say that he would come round immediately to fix it.
About three years ago we had an air conditioning unit installed (by a local Spanish company) into one of our bedrooms and it worked fine, but one day when it was needed the most, it decided that it had had enough and wouldn't function anymore.
He came, he saw and finally he conquered — plus his bill was extremely reasonable.
I contacted the installer, who came round that evening to have a look — well, all he did was look! He left us with a solemn promise to get back pronto, especially after explaining to him that our granddaughter Jessica (who was only 14 years old) suffers from type 1 diabetes and when the sun is at its hottest, she needs cool sanctuary. Anyway, after many phone calls we realised that he wasn't coming and it was too late to get it repaired elsewhere.
Thank you so much Mark! Andy from Almayate To contact Mark with any air conditioning enquiries, call: 952 550 323 / 616 119 007 or email info@esola.es See main advert on page 12
We therefore rented a mobile unit which I can assure you was not cheap, and we used that for the duration of 2018. At the end of 2018 we realised that we needed to do something before the coming year, so I looked in The Sentinella and found a small company called ESOLA run by Mark. What a find that was and what a great guy — he couldn't have been more helpful and although I was returning to England for a few months, we decided that I should get in touch when I returned. Our stay in the UK was much longer than anticipated owing to personal reasons, but I kept in touch and he was very patient, When I returned to Spain, Mark came round with a part that had been sitting in his car for months, but sadly, the wholesalers had given him the wrong unit and still we couldn't get it working. To make matters worse, my granddaughter was again due out within days and the air conditioning was a must. After explaining this to Mark, he said he would pull out all the stops to make sure I had a working unit for when she arrived. He was now at his busiest because summer 2019 had started and there was very little time to fit me in.

5th International Art Symposium In Competa! Art & creation... be moved by the energy, light & inspiration! From the 11th - 19th of October a special group of artists will visit the charming mountain village Competa. Its a big honour that they travel from far away to get inspired in Spain! Lieuwke Loth, who also runs the art Gallery Luz de la Vida, organises this art symposium for the 5th time. Artists from all over the world gather to exchange information, techniques and ideas related to their professions. The symposium is a public event using local spaces, in Cómpeta where locals, art-lovers and visitors can meet the artists and experience how they create their art with spontaneity, originality and creativity. This event broadens horizons and helps improve understanding of other cultures, countries and art. This year we'll host: Abgar Khachatryan from Armenia, Manish Sharma from India, Tanja Eigendaal from Denmark, Lee Youngji from Korea, Natalya Zaloznaya from Belarus, Yu Jin from China, Wieland Schoeffner from Germany, Ronald Kleijer from Netherlands but living in Uzbekistan, Lidia Simeonova who
lives in the USA but originally comes from Bulgaria. And Sergey Komyagin and Elena Shumacher from Russia who will come all the way by car! A young Tsjech couple comes especially over to help Lieuwke with all arrangements and organisation. So all in all we’ve an International group! As special guests we’ll welcome ‘Bonsainara’. The Bonsai Master Nacho Salar, who lives in Torrox and has his Bonsai garden and workshop there, comes to the village to explain and show us the art of shaping Bonsai trees! If you’re interested to hear more about this art, he will be present on Thursday and at 17:00pm. he will give a lecture. You keep more food than beer in the fridge. 3. 6am is when you get up, not when you go to bed. 4. Jeans and jumper no longer qualify as ‘dressed up’. 5. You’re the one calling the police because those kids next door won’t turn the music down. 6. Sleeping on the couch makes your back hurt. 7. You take naps, daily. 8. You go to the pharmacy for ibuprofen and heart burn tablets, not condoms and pregnancy tests. 9. You actually eat breakfast at breakfast time. 10. “I’m never going to drink that much again”. Is replaced with, “I just can’t drink the way I used to”. 11. You drink at home to save money before going to a bar. 12. You watch the weather channel and find it interesting.

Food, Glorious Food! Tapas is such a part of how we perceive Spanish food, especially here in its alleged home of Andalucia. However, there’s so much more to dining out than a few plates of tapas. One of the greatest pleasures here is sitting down to dine overlooking the Mediterranean, the lake or the mountains. One of the greatest surprises is the bill when it arrives which, despite the setting, the top class food and fabulous ambiance comes to little more than the cost of a meal at ‘Spoons back home. The etiquette of tapas There’s a misnomer that tapas is all about sharing. It isn’t. Whilst your group might order communal tapas, never assume that there will be an equal distribution of the food. Tapas is a sword fight with a fork. Often a brutal one at that. Once that food arrives, get ready with your fork, as it is every man, woman and child for themselves. The British etiquette of the deference politeness of saying after you holds no sway here. If you say that, you’re likely to go very hungry as you will be taken at your word. Size matters Tapas is the food for sharing but it does come in 3 handy sizes to try to help with the fork fight noted above. Basically, it’s small, medium or large: tapas, medias or raciones. In fact, in many restaurants, tapas is really meant just for you. It is served free, on a small plate, with your drink and anyone trying to dip into your plate unannounced, with the dolls house size fork provided, is just greedy. Ordering medias or raciones depends on how many are in your group and how hungry you are. Plus, there is no size control. In one of my local bars, Miguel’s, Viñuela, their portion control is quite mad. There is nothing half sized about the medias there. When three of us wanted to order two raciones, the waitress strongly advised us against this level of gluttony. There is no easy solution to this. The best advice I can offer is to be very nosey and look
at the dishes on other people’s tables. Make sure that you just look. A fork lunge across tables is not acceptable. Start small. Unlike the UK, there is no need to order all your main courses at one go. In Spain, it perfectly reasonable to order a main dish and thirty minutes later order something else. ¿Para compartir? One of the most useful Spanish restaurant phrases I have learnt is para compartir: to share. It isn’t all about tapas sharing. Sharing can be applied to anything on the menu and is perfectly acceptable at most restaurants. The meals are placed in the middle of the table and side plates are issued. It’s like a single table buffet. Sometimes, I have simply wanted the pleasure of a dish completely to myself without anyone else stabbing around in it. Those nights, I’ve made it clear to my companions that I am flying solo, I’m on my own with my secreto and any attempts to dive bomb my food will be met with a defensive response. ¡Buen provecho! Dining out is meant to be a pleasure. In Spain, it usually is. The high noise level and sheer number of thriving restaurants attest to this. As a guiri, it’s all about experimenting, risking and a bit of Google translate to bring a myriad of delights to the table. I would suggest using any translate services sparingly as it can confound. For example, the yummy egg custard dessert, Tocinillo de cielo, is transformed by Google into bacon from heaven. Hardly an appetising way to end a meal. Article written by Grimble

What Wine? - Icewine Canada, located in the northern part of North America, has English and French as two of the languages that are spoken, widely. Several other languages used include German, Spanish and Chinese. The history of Canada, plus cultures, religions, literature, music, the arts and sports bring countless visitors to Canada, year round. Canadian wines have been produced for over two hundred years and are now recognised globally, with many receiving prestigious awards at competitions and events. I searched for wines ‘beyond the norm’ – to locate productions of Icewine. Icewines are actually produced by a few countries. Canadian Icewines are high on the ‘leaderboard’ for quality and presentation, utilising fruits that have been frozen while still on the vine. The water content freezes, which allows for a more concentrated juice to develop. When the time is right for picking the fruit, the pickers have to be ‘ready for action’ at the optimum time. Canada is recognised as the largest Icewine producer, globally. Lakeview Cellars is the oldest brand incorporated within the Diamond Estates family of beverages. Established during 1991, in Vineland, Lakeview Cellars continues to produce excellent wines. Splendid full-bodied red and full-flavoured white wines, from this company, are very popular and the wine productions accompany cuisine superbly, as well as being able to be enjoyed by themselves. I found the luscious aged Icewines, produced by multi award-winning Lakeview Cellars, to be of exceptional quality and
very impressive. White Vidal Icewine has the bouquet of sweet fruits and honey enticing to the grand mouthfeel. A wine that is great to pair with cuisine, wonderfully, including fruit desserts and also cheeses. Lakeview Cellars Cabernet Franc Icewine is another truly fabulous production. This high-quality red Icewine is richly aromatic, with strawberry and cherry notes to please the nasal senses. The mouth’s pleasures follow on to enjoy the sensation, that include raspberries and red currants. When accompanying chocolate desserts and good cheeses, this makes them all perfect. Icewines increase in popularity every year and are a great ‘talking point’, always adding interest (and intrigue) to dining tables, plus occasions and events. Let c be the number of chickens, and r be the number of rabbits. r + c = 72 / 4r + 2c = 200 To solve the equations, we multiply the first by two, then subtract the second.2r + 2c = 144 / 2r = 56 / r = 28 / c = 44 So there are 44 chickens and 28 rabbits in the cage. 3. Exciting news at La Vaqueria this month as we go Eco! we have long since reduced our water consumption, been palm oil free and been very conscientious in the amount of plastic we use....NOW WE SELL ORGANIC FRUIT AND VEGETABLES! Closed on Mondays, this is the day we "get everything done" and last week found us on a quest north west of Malaga in the Guadalhorce region, often referred to as the market garden of Andalucia. This lush, green, fertile valley is supplying our certified organic produce, all grown in Spain and none wrapped in plastic! Our cafe serves only home made food using home grown salads and herbs and now uses seasonal organic fruits and vegetables in our dishes too. This new development has required a change around and revamp resulting in a separate arty crafty gift and souvenir shop just off of the main Cafe/Bar area which we are now busy filling with fair trade crafts from around the world plus works by local artist. If you do art or handicrafts and are interested in displaying we do still have some space to fill so please get in touch to discuss. As always we are looking forward to your visit. La Vaqueria Team x

Jokes h a ha :) An Englishman was travelling down the motorway with a van full of monkeys when all of a sudden the van came to a halt with a engine problem. A another van was behind him driven by Paddy and his van was empty. The Englishman says to Paddy, “Listen Paddy if I give you 50€ will you take these monkeys to the zoo for me?” “No problem” replies Paddy, “Just help me load them up” They both load the monkeys onto Paddy’s van and Paddy drives off. 2 hours later the English guy is still waiting for a recovery vehicle, when he sees Paddy coming back down the motorway on the other carriageway still full of monkeys. He flags him down and says “Christ sake Paddy, I gave you 50€ to take those monkeys to the zoo for me!” “I did” says Paddy “But I’ve got a few euros left over so we’re off to the cinema now!” ------------------------------------------------------------Jeremy Corbyn asked the Queen, "Your Majesty, how do you run such an efficient organisation? Are there any tips you can give me?" "Well," said the Queen, "The most important thing is to surround yourself with intelligent people." Jeremy Corbyn then asked, "But how do I know if the people around me are really intelligent?" The Queen took a sip of tea. "Oh, that's easy; you just ask them to answer an intelligent riddle, watch me and listen" The Queen pushed a button on her intercom. "Please send Prince Charles in here, would you?" Prince Charles walked into the room and said, "Yes, Mother? The Queen smiled and said to Charles, "Answer me this please Charles. Your mother
and father have a child. It is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?" Without pausing for a moment, Prince Charles answered, "That would be me." "Yes, very good!" Said the Queen. “Ah ha I get it” said Jeremy, thank you Ma'am and in a great rush he left. Corbyn went back to Parliament and decided to ask Diane Abbott the same question. "Diane, answer this for me." "Your mother and your father have a child. It is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?" "I'm not sure," said Abbott. Then in true Diane Abbott style, she went on to say. "Let me get back to you on that one." She went to her advisers and asked everyone, but none could give her an answer. Frustrated, Diane went for a coffee and met Nigel Farage. "Nigel, see if you can answer this question." "Yes Diane" replied Nigel. "Your mother and father have a child and it's not your brother or your sister. Who is it?" Farage immediately answered, "That's easy, it's me!" Abbott grinned, and said, "Good answer Nigel, I see it all now!" Abbott then, went back to find Corbyn and said to him; "Jeremy, I did some research, and I have the answer to that riddle." "If your mother and father have a child who is not your brother or your sister, the child is Nigel Farage!" Corbyn went red in the face, got up, stomped over to Abbott, and yelled in her face, "No! You bloody idiot! It is Prince Charles! ------------------------------------------------------------My wife gave me 50€ and told me to go out and spend the money on something that makes her look sexy.!!
