From the Desk of Ryan Lanzen Follow Us Now! Hello! Welcome to another exciting week of the Torreon Escape Newsletter! Ok, maybe that’s a little over the top but we appreciate you taking the time to read the newsletter as this is one of our main avenues to share information with the membership. That being said, we are working on ways to improve communication within the clubhouse for the coming season and hope you see the benefits. If you have been up recently, you have probably noticed some odd shaped, large piles covered in plastic in the parking lot by the golf course maintenance building. Well, that is our first order of sand that has arrived in preparation for our bunker improvement project we will be undertaking in a few weeks. Through this project we will be removing the sand from the bunkers, screening the sand, replacing and adding more sand to the bunkers. Weather permitting this project will start in March and the goal is to be finished before the courses open.
In addition to the bunker project that is on the calendar, we have continued with some of the paver work on the cart paths, namely paths with the most severe slopes that intersect with roadways. This will a) provide for a better experience than the rutted out cart paths that tend to develop on slopes and b) eliminate the large amounts of cart path material that are washed/drug out into the roads and create a mess and a safety hazard. The pavers look fantastic and are a nice touch!
There are many improvement projects that we are looking to tackle and we are taking the small steps toward the end goal of the larger improvement. We must say “thank you” to our ownership for their support in undertaking these projects which have also included tee box leveling and expansion, new carts, new maintenance equipment and the previous paver work by the Cabin. If you still haven’t made plans for Valentine’s Day, look no further! We are hosting a great evening that includes a four course meal, champagne toast, complimentary wine tasting and live music! Check out the menu in the following pages and make your reservations to treat your taste buds and your Valentine! For those who may be wondering what to do with the kids while you dine, the Family Center will be open that weekend; Saturday 9:00 am9:00 pm, Sunday 9:00 am-9:30 pm with a movie and pizza night and Monday 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Drop the kids off and spend some quality time together! If your reason for coming up is to hit the slopes, while most of the snow has melted in Torreon, our Head Golf Professional, Randy Bigos, reports that the skiing and boarding at Sunrise right now is fantastic! We hope to see you all soon and as always, if we can be of any assistance please don’t hesitate to ask! Ryan Lanzen rwl@torreon.com
