From the Desk of Ryan Lanzen Follow Us Now! Greetings! I hope you are all well and avoiding the leftover Halloween candy successfully! Things are definitely quieting down here at the club as we actually witnessed our first snow flying through the air today. We have now entered our planning time of year as the staff and I sit down and begin to plan the 2016 calendars. We have many exciting ideas for improving on past events and adding new events for you all to take part in. More information will come out over the next couple months about what you can look forward to in 2016.
We have completed the leveling project of the blue tee on #13 Tower and are now working on the leveling and expansion of the blue tee on #6 Tower. The project on #6 Tower will take a bit more time as it involves moving irrigation lines, building the expansion portion of the tee, leveling, sodding and tying in the areas surrounding the teeing ground to the “new” tee box. This project is definitely a bit more involved than the project on #13 but it will make the hole much more playable and eliminate the problem with the trees overhanging the tee. Once this project is complete, our crew will focus the majority of their efforts on buttoning up the golf courses and protecting them for the winter, which this has already begun on the Cabin course. Attention all skiers and snowboarders! Sunrise Ski Park is getting 4-6 inches of snow out of this storm and is making snow as well. If you get season passes to use the mountain, make sure you get them by November 15th so you can get the early bird pricing! The tentative open date for the season is November 21st. Lastly, if you plan on being at Torreon for Thanksgiving weekend and want to take part in the fabulous buffet prepared by our culinary team, please make sure you make reservations for your party. This event tends to be extremely full and reservations are already filling, if you don’t make reservations, we can’t guarantee we will be able to seat you at your desired time. You can make reservations by calling the Front Desk at 928-532-8000. As always, if there I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask. Ryan Lanzen rwl@torreon.com
Food & Beverage News Hello members, As the nice, summer weather comes to an end here at Torreon, I wanted to thank all of our members for another great season. I have come to thoroughly enjoy my time in the White Mountains; Torreon is truly one of the greatest places I have ever worked. We are saying good bye to all of our seasonal staff and beginning to prepare for what looks like a very cold and snow filled winter. What’s on tap? As of now we will be serving our all day menu throughout the winter; we have taken our favorite items and added some comforting winter foods. We will be serving lunch Thursday through Sunday and dinner will be available Thursday through Saturday. Chef Spencer will be running lunch and dinner features throughout the year and we will continue our Burger Night which is now available on Thursday nights. What’s up next? We will be having our Torreon Thanksgiving Day Buffet on Thursday, November 26, from 11am to 3pm. The culinary staff presents a large range of traditional holiday fare, carving stations and a kid friendly buffet. The entire Thanksgiving menu is available on our web site and we are currently accepting reservations by calling 928-532-8000. Reservations are strongly recommended as this event usually sells out. Over the winter we will be developing new menus with an emphasis on introducing new and exciting cuisine while focusing on some “comfort food” classics for everyday enjoyment. In addition to that, we will be developing a couple new theme nights to run midweek throughout the summer. Lastly, planning has already begun for paint & sip classes, wine & beer tastings and new events to include a comedy night in July. Again thank you to all, from myself and all of the F&B staff here at Torreon. I am sure that we will see many of you over the winter, either while you are here checking on your home or while we are touring Valley and Tucson clubs. James Hildebrand Director of Food & Beverage
