From the Desk of Ryan Lanzen Follow Us Now! Hello members! I hope this week’s newsletter finds you well and well on your way to the completion of your Christmas shopping; only 5 Saturdays left before the big day is here! It’s beginning to feel more and more like Christmas here in Show Low with the couple snowfalls we have had so far! Unfortunately none of it is still on the ground, but for those of you who like to come up and see the snow in the winter, I think it is going to be a good winter for you. As we approach the continued cold and snow of the winter months in the White Mountains, David Scharfen and his team are hard at work preparing the golf courses to withstand what Mother Nature will throw at us. As we do what we can to protect the course and put us a step ahead when we start growing in the spring again, we ask that you help us as well. How do you ask? You can assist our maintenance crew by ensuring that people stay off the greens and out of the black fenced off areas (as seen below). A second way to help, please make sure that all utility vehicles stay off of the golf course; RAZR’s, golf carts, 4 wheelers and the like should not be on the golf course in the winter. The grass plants are dormant and the tough part about the winter, the plants can be damaged but they have no way of healing. That being said, any damage done in the winter months will still be there in the spring and add to the length of time it takes to get the golf courses in the condition that we all expect. Thank you in advance for your attention and assistance in this matter!

For you skiers and snow bunnies out there, Sunrise Ski Park is set to open on November 21 st. Current reports have a summit base of 36” and a mid-way base of 28”. Time to wax up the skis and boards! DON’T FORGET to mark your calendars for Torreon’s Annual New Year’s Eve Bash! The dinner in the Grille will be by reservation from 5-9 PM; $35++ for a four course meal. The dance will be in the Tower Room with live music by Triple Play from 9PM-1AM and includes appetizers and a balloon drop along with a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. The cost to attend the dance only is $20 per person; $10 per person if you eat dinner at the Club. You can make reservations by calling the Front Desk. Ryan Lanzen rwl@torreon.com
