AM GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY | PM CLASSIC FUN!

Girls’ Field Hockey | Delaware Sharks

June 12-16, 8:30-11:30 a.m. Grades 1-4

Focus on building the fundamental skills for the Lower School player, whether she is new to the sport or is looking to develop her skills for future competition. Emphasis on basic stick skills, defensive techniques and teamwork. Players will also participate in small games and scrimmages. Coached by Delaware Sharks and Episcopal Academy Coach Paul Zelenak. Required equipment: shin guards, mouthguard, stick. Some loaner sticks are available.

Description: Fun Chinese Camp offers a fun experience for your children to explore the Chinese language and culture through music, movement, games and other interactive activities in an immersive language classroom. Whether your child is a beginner or advanced student of the Chinese language, our summer camp will help them gain confidence and progress in their conversational Chinese and literacy through dynamic interactions with teachers and peers.

What do you get when you combine a love of books and a love of cooking? One happy kid! This week Cooking’s Cool presents Books for Cooks, a summer camp that combines children’s literature with the fun and deliciousness of food. Together we will explore children’s classics such as Adam Rubin’s “Dragons Love Tacos” and then make tiny tacos and Laura Numeroff’s “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” and make lemon blueberry pancakes. This camp offers a hands-on experience where chefs gain confidence in the kitchen creating delicious dishes, learning about kitchen safety, baking and the fun of food!

AM SCIENCE OF NATURAL DISASTERS | PM POKEMON

Science of Natural Disasters | Nancy Tate

June 19-23, 8:30-11:30 a.m. Grades 2-5

We will use STEM and STEAM activities to dive into volcanoes, hurricanes, floods, oil spills and more. Students will learn the causes of natural disasters and work together to design buildings, bridges and roadbeds that will survive earthquakes and hurricanes, create model volcanoes and create barriers for lava.

Pokemon | Anna Elliott

June 19-23, 12-3 p.m. Grades 2-5

Take me on a journey to all things Pokemon! In this week’s camp, we make scientific connections with Pokemon, exploring the similarities between Pokemon and real world animals, as well as connections between the animal classification system and the Pokemon types. In addition we will sing Pokemon theme song karaoke, share our favorite cards and play various Pokemon games. This camp will be a mix of science, fandom and fun!

For students who love the performing arts, Heart of the Arts offers a fun and educational experience in which students will learn a small part of what it takes to create a production in the theater–stage, orchestra, scenic, costumes, lights, sound etc. Throughout the week young aspiring actors will explore various emotions and make strong character choices, through storytelling, imaginative play and improvisation! They’ll get to choose a classic children’s book to bring to life and perform at the end of the week!

The afternoon will be centered around our favorite author, Laura Numeroff! We will read, bake and explore books such as “If you Give A Mouse a Cookie,” “I You Give a Dog a Donut” and “If You Give a Mouse a Muffin.” If you love to bake, this camp is for you!

AM AND PM THE ART OF STORIES: STUDYING CHRISTIAN ROBINSON’S PICTURE BOOKS THROUGH READING AND ILLUSTRATIONS

Studying Christian Robinson Through Reading | Ellen Ellis

July 10-14, 8:30-11:30 a.m. Grades 2-5

Mrs. Ellis and Mr. MoDavis are teaming up for this full day camp! When they discovered there was a Delaware Art Museum exhibit showcasing Christian Robinson, well known author and award-winning illustrator, they knew they had to make it part of the Tower Hill summer experience! Students will spend time reading, studying and discussing Robinson’s books, style and background.

Studying Christian Robinson Through Illustrations | Aaron MoDavis

July 10-14, 12-3 p.m. Grades 2-5

The other half of the day will be in the art studio, creating books and art through various media, using Robinson’s work as inspiration. Other authors and illustrators will also be shared, helping students learn how their experiences and values may be expressed through their creative endeavors. We will celebrate our time together with a field trip to the Delaware Art Museum to view the exhibit! Check out exhibit here.

Let’s make a difference! We are lucky to be a part of a wonderful community at Tower Hill. Have you ever wondered how you can spread kindness to those around you who may need it the most? Together we can help bring a smile to those around us in a meaningful way. We can write letters of appreciation to our community helpers, we can paint toys to give to another school in Wilmington and we can help those who are sick or fighting childhood illnesses. We should always be looking for ways to treat others with kindness and respect, and continue learning from one another! This camp will help us think bigger to make a bigger difference!
