Join us for a week to get ready for kindergarten! We will practice phonemic awareness, letter formation, handwriting skills and number sense! We will also practice routines and skills needed for kindergarten.

Is your child preparing to enter first grade? Help them avoid the summer slide with this fun academic week. Students will play games while reviewing sight words and math concepts. Also, students will practice proper letter formation while writing about their favorite summer activity. The week would not be complete without working on their reading comprehension skills. Pack your backpack for first grade, here we come!

Join us for an amazing camp featuring media such as charcoal, pastel, watercolor and technical illustration markers. You will create animal portraits, paint en plein air (outside), and design colorful characters in this afternoon camp!

GETTING READY FOR MS SPANISH 8 | MRS. IDA LEADER

July 31-Aug. 4, 8:30-11:30 a.m. Grade 8

This one week skill booster course serves to support the transition into eighth grade Spanish at Tower Hill by coaching students in the basic grammar needed to enter this new level on solid footing. The instructor will coach students as they work through activities that review the fundamentals of seventh grade Spanish. Coaching may take the form of direct grammar/ vocabulary instruction as well as activities that apply these concepts through reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students should expect a combination of lecture-style instruction, one-on-one assistance and group work. Students who may have struggled at times in the previous year of language study and those who are new to the study of Spanish may be recommended for this skill booster course.

GETTING READY FOR US SPANISH 2 | MS. MIRIAM PALLANT

July 31-Aug. 4, 8:30-11:30 a.m.

This one week skill booster course serves to support the transition into Spanish 2 at Tower Hill by coaching students in the basic grammar needed to enter this new level on solid footing. Prior to the first day of the summer course, students are expected to attempt to the best of their ability all activities in the summer work packet using only their knowledge, the textbook and notes from previous years. While all questions must be answered, there is no expectation that all answers will be correct. Rather, the sections that pose the most difficulty will be the focus of the summer class. Coaching may take the form of direct grammar/vocabulary instruction as well as activities that apply these concepts through reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students should expect a combination of lecture-style instruction, one-on-one assistance and group work. Students who may have struggled at times in the previous year of language study and those who are new to Spanish at Tower Hill may be recommended for this skill booster course.

GETTING READY FOR UPPER SCHOOL MATH | DATE AND INSTRUCTOR TBD

Grade 9-12

This one week workshop will provide rising freshmen the opportunity to strengthen and reinforce essential math skills that form a strong foundation for Upper School algebra courses. Topics include linear equations, exponents and radicals, polynomials, factoring and quadratics. Whether online or in-person, students will engage, problem solve and apply mathematical techniques using a variety of creative methods.

SCIENCE AND LAB SKILLS FOR INCOMING NINTH GRADERS | LAUREN HELFGOTT

Date TBD Grades 9-10

This week long course is designed to acclimate incoming ninth graders (or 10th graders who are starting at THS from another school) to the necessary skills for success in the Upper School science program. Highlighted are math skills— primarily algebra and graphical analysis—lab skills that can be done either from the kitchen (at home!) or from the lab, writing scientific data analysis and the basics of keeping a lab notebook and studying for a science class.
