January The End of the World as we Know it By: Robert Goolrick Beautifully written, often humorous, sometimes sweet, ultimately shocking, this is a son’s story of looking back with both love and anger at the parents who gave him life and then robbed him of it, who created his world and then destroyed it; it has been described as a difficult painful read, but has also been described as a searing, exquisitely written, amazing turning inside out of a devastated man’s soul.

Clubs & Groups February

Peer Support Group

Deception By: Phillip Roth At the center of the story are two adulterers in their hiding place. He is a middle-aged American writer named Philip, living in London, and she is an articulate, intelligent, well-educated Englishwoman compromised by a humiliating marriage to which, in her thirties, she is already nervously half-resigned. The action consists of conversation—mainly the lovers talking to each other before and after making love. Roth’s writing describes the tightly enclosed world of intimacy with a directness that has no equal in American fiction

Confidentiality will be stressed as well. Fees: $30(R) $36(N)

STEM Club March Out of Bounds By: Val McDermid Karen Pirie finds herself irresistibly drawn to another mystery that she has no business investigating. When a teenage joyrider crashes a stolen car and ends up in a coma, a routine DNA test reveals a connection to an unsolved murder from twenty-two years before. Finding the answer to the cold case should be straightforward. But it’s as twisted as the DNA helix itself and she finds that nothing is as it seems.
