INTRODUCTION Recognized as a historic site by the Heritage Resource Commission, the Village Theatre serves as a performing arts theatre with a fine arts gallery located in the lobby. Since the Town of Danville purchased the Village Theatre in 1987, it has opened its curtains to a variety of book lectures, concerts, film festivals, meetings, movie screenings, musicals, performances for youth and adults, plays and special events. In November 2013, the Village Theatre celebrated its centennial anniversary which included a Gala Event and Centennial Celebration where dignitaries and notable figures gathered to recount the variety of uses this historic building has undergone. Join us in our 101st year and enjoy the wide range of entertainment this building has to offer. Visit the Romancing the Arts in the TriValley event held February 12-22, 2015. Romancing the Arts will be an accumulation of cultural arts events happening throughout the Tri-Valley which will include theatre performances, fine arts, literary arts, culinary arts and wine, and music.

Arsenic & Old Lace

The Ladies Man

Of Mice and Men

By: Joseph Kesselring

By: John Steinbeck

October 31November 16, 2014

January 30February 15, 2015

April 17May 3, 2015

Mortimer Brewster fears that he may be going crazy. It seems to run in the family. His Uncle thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, his sweet and innocent aunts comfort lonely old men by poisoning them, and his brother is a career criminal with a Boris Karloff complex. You’d be crazy to miss this celebrated classic screwball comedy.

In Paris, the recently married Dr. Hecule Molineaux tells “one, tiny, little, hardly noticeable lie” to cover an innocent but embarrassing indiscretion. From that single untruth tumbles a cascade of increasingly convoluted deceptions, misunderstandings and mistaken identities. The Ladies Man literally spins out of control and will leave you dizzy with zany joy.

George and Lennie are two drifters who look out for each other. They dream of a day when they can have a “little place of their own,” but for the present, they are bouncing from ranch to ranch just trying to get by with trouble always just a step behind. When trouble finally catches up with them, dire circumstances demand dire actions.
