Beau is a loving, affectionate boy who is looking for a caring home. Beau is a sensitive boy who is looking for someone who he can trust as he can be a little shy when meeting new people.
Mouse is a four year old girl with pretty dark tortie markings, her photo doesn’t do her justice. Since being with us she has discovered how nice it is to curl up on her fosterer’s lap and have a cuddle. She also loves to have her head and under her chin rubbed and she never says no to a bowl of chicken! Mouse can be quite nervous so we are looking for a new home without children and where she is the only pet. Being a typical tortie she will let you know when she wants her own space. Mouse has been with us for five months so could you be the person to give this little lass the loving new forever home that she so deserves? This is our handsome lurcher Beau who came into Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre Ilfracombe when his owners moved house. Beau is a loving, affectionate boy who is looking for someone he can trust, as he can be a little shy when meeting new people. The staff are baffled as to why this sensitive lad keeps getting overlooked. He has a favourite volunteer who takes him out on long walks, which he absolutely loves. He is good in the car and a pleasure to take out according to our volunteer.

With TONI&GUY Falmouth having made its comeback in the town we sat down with its brand new franchisees to find out a little bit more about them. They certainly have an impressive CV behind them both. Chelsea (25) was one of three Colour Technicians in 2013 to be selected from all the TONI&GUY salons in the UK to be part of the TONI&GUY Breakthrough Team which is like a scholarship programme for gifted and talented hairdressers. Chelsea also worked backstage at London Fashion week. Stacey (30) has run a successful independent salon for the past 6 years. While also styling the locks of various celebrities including Corrie’s Les Dennis and his wife Claire along with Supermodel and Celebrity Big Brother star Sophie Anderton. The girls are incredibly down to earth and very welcoming, it's also good to note both girls are born and bred in Cornwall. We fired some quick questions to them.... Q) The best thing my parents taught me? A) Stacey: a strong work ethic, my parents are grafters and they showed me that nothing in this life comes for free. Q) What do you love most about your job? A) Chelsea: for me it's all about making people feel good. As hairdressers we have the ability to change the way someone feels about themselves instantly and that's a very special thing. Q) Why set up your salon in Falmouth? A) Stacey: I worked in Falmouth as a hairdresser for 3 years and I love the town. I'm a Cornish girl and my family lived here. My great aunty owned a pasty shop on well lane. There's no other place quite like it in Cornwall. Q) Why should people come to TONI&GUY Falmouth? A) Chelsea: our stylists and technicians undergo a rigorous training programme and have access to the best training in the world. We are constantly being updated with new techniques, not only for advanced styles but for classics too. The world is constantly evolving and that goes for hair techniques too. People often think we can only do the styles in the window campaigns. That couldn't be further from the truth, we can do that as well as classic work, that's the difference with TONI&GUY. Q) Why did you start hairdressing? A) Stacey: I started off doing graphic design, I loved it but it wasn't for me. With hairdressing I get to be creative but meet face to face with people and find out about their lives. That's what I love, I've been doing a lot of my clients for the past 11 years and they're more like friends now. Q) Best achievement to date? A) Chelsea: Obviously being franchisee of TONI&GUY Falmouth but also being chosen to be part of the TONI&GUY breakthrough team, I learnt so much over that 12 month period and it made me the hairdresser I am today. A) Stacey: Without a doubt choosing to do hairdressing, anything else I've achieved since is only because I made that decision. So there you have it, a little about Stacey and Chelsea. They are offering all clients £10 off until 1st April 2015 with all stylists and technicians. They also offer a free consultation service, so why not pop down and have a no obligation chat about your glorious locks.

New Creative Director for Fal River Festival
12
The Fal River Festival, an annual celebration of the cultural and natural riches of this vibrant part of Cornwall, has announced the appointment of a new Creative Director. Anna Druce will be on a mission to make this, the 10th anniversary year, the most memorable yet, with a programme designed to attract national and international visitors to the shores of the Fal River. Anna will join the Fal River team from her position as Festival and Events Coordinator at Visit Cornwall, where she played a major role in delivering community events during both the Tall Ships Regatta and the Olympic Torch Relay; experience which will be put to good work in coordinating an ambitious Festival line-‐up this year. Though a new member of the team, Anna knows the Fal River and surrounding area well; having grown up in Falmouth and studied locally, she worked in Australia and travelled widely before returning to her Cornish roots. Anna spoke of her excitement at the appointment, and her ambitions for the 2015 Festival: "This is a dream job for me. The Fal River area is not only spectacularly beautiful, with diverse landscapes and picturesque towns and villages, it also buzzes with cultural and artistic activity: I can't wait to curate the programme, which will take place at a greater number of locations than ever before and encompass the length and breadth of the river, as it makes its way from Tresillian and Truro, via creeks and inlets, down to Falmouth and St Mawes." Beginning on 22nd May, the 10 day Festival brings together artistic talent from the worlds of music, theatre, film and literature, alongside themes of activity, adventure, nature, food and drink -‐ all focused around the Fal River itself, which is explored and celebrated in a variety of ways. Working with venues including Falmouth Art Gallery, The National Maritime Museum, Hall For Cornwall and National Trust Trelissick Gardens, Anna and the team will collaborate with a variety of other organisations in Cornwall to offer a unique festival experience. Tim Light, Director of Fal River Cornwall, said: "The Fal River Festival has become an important and celebrated event over the last 10 years. Not only is it great fun and largely free for local people, it also gives us a chance to shout about how wonderful this part of Cornwall is. Visitors from other parts of Britain and indeed Europe, come and experience a remarkable cultural feast in beautiful surroundings -‐ it's a great advert for Cornwall as a whole and I can't wait to see this year's events unfold with our new Creative Director on board." Fal River Festival is a not-‐for-‐profit community festival which encompasses over 150 events varying from music and drama, the arts and heritage to gig racing, swimming, walking and lots more. The Festival was established in 2005 and provides a chance to embrace the places, people, history, culture, sport and industry that are connected by this iconic Cornish river. With its diverse mix of events taking place at dozens of locations around the Fal River, the Festival offers something for everyone and is the perfect opportunity to engage with life on the river and discover some of its fascinating history. PAPIER MACHE EASTER BASKETS You will need: Papier Mache Paste Tissue Paper (In required colours) Balloons Brushes Felt pieces/Craft Foam (Ears) Pompoms (Tails) Feathers/Felt (Feet) Wide ribbon ( For handles)
Email your creations to: hayley@tr11mag.co.uk Home Made Papier Mache: Mix 1 part Flour: 2 parts Water Microwave at full heat and stir every minute or so until you have a thick paste. Let it cool. (Home made paste will be yellow/cream and bought will be bright white)
HAPPY EASTER!
1) Draw a line on the balloon as shown in the photo. This is where you will papier mache up to. The little bump is for the face. 2) Use your brush to apply the paste to the balloon. Add a layer of tissue paper and then paste over the top (soaking the tissue). Then add another layer of tissue paper. 3) Keep doing this until there are 4 or 5 good layers if not more. Take special care to have a thick layer around the edge as this will give your basket more structure later on. 4) Let it dry on a plate. Prop up if necessary. 5) Once dry - carefully pop the balloon and peel away the bits. Trim the basket (especially if the pen has transferred). 6) Then decorate with your embellishments. ‘Cheaper’ Acrylic is best for the felt as it is quite stiff and will stand up. If it floppy, stick some card behind it. Or use craft foam. Add feathers for wings or cut felt wings. The bunnies could have pom pom feet and cotton wool tails! 7) Finally, make some small holes in either side of of the basket. Then thread some bright ribbon through for a handle and you are all set to go Easter Hunting! Check out more crafts www.redtedart.com

Musical Theatre is one of the most enjoyable and confidence building classes JTPA provide. In the industry the term “Triple threat” means that you are able to dance, act and sing. From “Frozen and Annie” students have the opportunity to learn, understand and perform to their favourite musicals.
Acro and Tumbling classes have now been introduced at JTPA in Truro by popular demand. The classes have been added to our timetable to help students with the basics from “forward rolls” to “cartwheels” and for the more advanced “aerials” and “walkovers”.
Here are a few of the fabulous classes that are offered for the Under 13’s. Please call 01872 276365 for enquiries or email: info@jasonthomasdance.co.uk

If you have kids, you may be wondering what is the best way to channel their seemingly boundless energy. While traditional team sports are a good way to get your kids physically active, they may not be right for younger children. Dance classes are a great alternative to team sports. Please call 01872 276365 for enquiries or email: Participating in dance classes can be info@jasonthomasdance.co.uk beneficial for kids of all ages. regularly Dancing is a highly physical activity, and kids who take dance lessons should expect to see a significant improvement in their overall physical health. Regular dance practice can increase your child's flexibility, range of motion, physical strength and stamina. The repetitive movements involved in dance can improve muscle tone, correct poor posture, increase balance and coordination and improve overall cardiovascular health. Dancing is an aerobic form of exercise. For children who are overweight, it can potentially help them to lose weight and improve their eating habits. Dance lessons can help children improve their social and communication skills, learn how to work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of trust and cooperation and make new friends. If your child is shy, enrolling her/him in dance can encourage her/him to reach out to other children her/his age and help to reduce her/his anxiety about new people or places. Dance can also help to alleviate fears related to performing in front of an audience. Becoming a skilled dancer requires practice, discipline and focus, skills that can be useful in other areas of your child's life. Dance lessons can help to spark creativity in young children and help them to develop an appreciation for the arts. Students who regularly participate in dance lessons typically tend to perform better academically than their nonparticipating peers. As children adjust to the movements and postures required in dance, they begin to get a better sense of their bodies. As they become more comfortable in their own skin, their confidence and self-‐esteem also improve. Dance lessons can encourage children to foster a more positive attitude and explore their own self-‐ expression. This can be particularly beneficial for children who are physically or mentally impaired or those who are attempting to deal with significant emotional problems.

Unusual Art Project Sparks Care Home Conversation A project, which brings artists and creative experiences into care homes in Cornwall saw an innovative concept become reality in January. Led by Arts for Health Cornwall in Penryn, the Home Service project is designed to enrich the lives of older people living in care homes. A specially designed artwork, in the form of a range of crockery, was put to use for the first time by care home residents. Designed in collaboration with residents and staff, the cups and saucers are intended to help spark conversation and rekindle memories amongst the residents at the home, which specialises in caring for people with various forms of dementia. Each identified by a different word, the range of cups and saucers are the work of artist Jonty Lees, who has been developing ideas for an original and practical art intervention at Crossroads House Care Home in Scorrier for several months. The cups and saucers were delivered in January and will be used at mealtimes and tea breaks, becoming an integral part of these important daily routines. Jonty explained the concept: “I wanted the lasting legacy of my project at Crossroads House to reflect the importance of conversation; it's not always easy for us to find that point of departure that sparks a conversation -‐ that helps us identify shared aspects of our individual history." The cups and saucers, inscribed with a single word free from any context, act as a prompt or visual trigger, which stimulates the imagination or provokes an unexpected response. Jonty tested out words using flashcards, choosing 100 which inspired the most reaction. The cups and saucers were then specially made by British-‐Japanese designer Reiko Kaneko using Fine bone China. Like other artists taking part in the project, Jonty's work has been commissioned in collaboration with Cornwall's top art institutions; in this case Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange. Gallery Director James Green, who visited the care home as the cups and saucers were delivered, commented: "This deceptively simple idea will have a real and lasting impact, promoting greater contact and engagement amongst the residents, and also with their visitors and the care home staff." He added: "Jonty's work is part of a larger conversation about the relationship between older people and the arts -‐ about what more we can do to provide opportunities for creativity, and what we might learn from encouraging greater scope for acts of imagination in older age." Home Service is a three year initiative which will have a lasting impact; other strands of the project include storytelling, dance, theatre and music. Arts partners are Hall for Cornwall and KEAP in Truro, Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange, Wren Music in Okehampton and Creativity Works in Bath and North East Somerset. Care organisations involved are Brunel Care in Bristol; Cornwall Care who are Cornwall wide; and Anson Care based in Redruth, Penzance and Portreath, with Falmouth University also playing a key role in the project. Home Service is funded by Arts Council England and The Baring Foundation, who jointly committed over £250,000 to the project in January 2014. For more information about the scheme please contact Jayne Howard, Director of Arts for Health Cornwall on 01326 377772 or jayne@artsforhealthcornwall.org.uk. INSTITUTE OF FUNDRAISING WELCOMES ON BOARD GIVING.CARDS
Online charity greetings card platform, Giving.Cards has been accepted as a corporate supporter of the professional membership body for UK fundraising -‐ the Institute of Fundraising. It joins a range of other companies supplying products or services to the not-‐for-‐profit sector that have been accredited by the
Institute. The company, which offers all-‐year-‐round personalised greetings cards, designed online at Giving.Cards and posted out directly to the recipient, donates 20p from every card sale to the customer's chosen charity. It's the only company of its kind that specialises in raising money for an unlimited number of different causes as part of its business model. Charities and fundraisers also have the option of a white-‐labelled website, featuring their own logos, where they can direct their supporters to buy cards -‐ all at no cost. Founder Tony Kemp said: "Our link with the Institute of Fundraising publicly demonstrates our commitment to best practice in the sector and allows us to keep up-‐to-‐date with developments in the industry plus share our ideas with other like-‐minded organisations. "It also provides reassurance to potential users within the charity community that we adhere to strict ethics and professional standards." The company is always on the lookout for new charities. Tony explained: "As long as they have a website, groups of all kinds and sizes can benefit from the Giving.Cards service through the sale of cards and invitations for every type of occasion -‐ including birthdays, wedding and parties. "We take care of everything involved so it is a completely risk-‐free and hassle-‐free way for charities and fundraising groups to generate an additional income stream. "Up until now, charities have had a bonanza at Christmas, but nothing for the rest of the year. Giving.Cards gives charities the chance to raise money throughout the year. "Advances in technology have allowed us to provide this new service for free allowing fundraising groups of any size to raise much-‐needed extra funds." To find out more, contact Tony Kemp, Ed Bennett and his team on 01535 683289.

Two Brothers Foods Has Whole Package A new wholesale food service launched in Cornwall promises to be ‘passionate about produce and serious about service'. Two Brothers Foods is the bold new venture from Gavin Roberts of Kernow Sausages; a butcher who made his name using the finest cuts of pork to create a range of sausages based on family recipes. Kernow Sausages was launched in 2007 and Gavin's products were soon in high demand, both by the public and the region's top chefs, who recognised a special combination of quality, provenance and family values. In 2014, Gavin successfully purchased Vealls, a food wholesaler based in Newquay, in order to grow his business in new and exciting directions. Vealls was founded in 1964 by brothers Ron and John Veall, who increased their market share to a turnover of £1 million plus, supplying more than 200 businesses in the South West with a range of chilled, ambient and frozen foods. Gavin is now relaunching the company as Two Brothers Foods -‐ a nod to the former owners -‐ with a reinvigorated offering designed to appeal to professional kitchens across the South West and beyond. Gavin explains the ethos behind Two Brothers Foods: "Our aim at Two Brothers Foods is to deliver the finest, freshest seasonal foods and niche products -‐ including those sourced from Cornwall -‐ picked, prepped, packed and delivered with great service standards to the kitchen doors of chefs across the West Country." He added: "We have grown a supply network of like-‐minded providers who share our passion for great food, great products and great service. The result is a range of key kitchen staples, including quality fresh meats and poultry, deli, dairy and frozen produce from Cornwall and beyond. We keep an eye on the latest consumer trends, testing new ranges to help busy chefs create inspired menus which meet the changing demands of their customers, their business and their budget. We aim to set a new industry standard in terms of provenance, quality and consistency." Neil Haydock, Executive Chef at Watergate Bay Hotel, is excited about Gavin's new venture: "Gavin's approach and ethos has ensured that Kernow Sausages has been extremely successful and is a respected brand in Cornwall. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Two Brothers Foods -‐ taking over Vealls and now relaunching it means that Gavin can take his approach to a wider audience with a larger product range." This includes a high quality selection of meats; an in-‐house team of butchers will process every cut of meat freshly to order, with full details of provenance provided. "We understand how important it is for chefs and their customers to know where their meat comes from, and how it was reared," said Gavin. From the local food heroes of Cornwall, to purveyors of exotic fare from far-‐flung shores, Gavin and his team are confident that they have got it all. As a result, Two Brothers Foods looks set to become a kitchen staple across the South West. If you would like to find out more, please visit www.twobrothersfoods.co.uk or call 01726 861 587; you can also follow Two Brothers Foods on Twitter @TwoBrothersFoods or Facebook /TwoBrothersFoods Interested in advertising?
