Keep your Business in Tralee and keep Tralee in Business!
Hello everyone!
& welcome back to 'Create with Rebecca', a page where I will be talking ALL things social media! (yaaaaaaay!). This column will be especially helpful for those in business looking to navigate the world of social media for their business. I will be simplifying EVERYTHING as well as giving my top tips. Oh, by the way... I can edit videos, advise you on social media & create a new vibe for your brand! (Aka video editor, social media consultant & graphic designer) - so I know what I'm talking about!
YOUR GUIDE TO SOCIAL MEDIA IN 2022 HELLO! It's 2022 and I am back to help you navigate the wild world that is social media. In 2022 who knows what route social media will take but one thing to be sure of is that it's only going to get bigger and better. I will be here, in The Tralee Advertiser every week helping you out and keeping you on trend. If you want to submit any questions for me to answer please email createtralee@gmail.com - I will keep your name anonymous and answer your question here! Ok... so... it's 2022, and you're still not using social media for your business / brand / personal brand???? Are you confused where to start? What to post? When to post? How many times? You're getting far too ahead of yourself. Just start. Don't worry about the details, the little things or if you're posting at the right time. Just create your account and build your community! Yes, build your community, not sell your product. You need to build trust and a community on social media, not sell and win customers."But why would I invest time and money into social media if I'm not even going to sell anything?"... You will, but, social media is not like selling. Social media is about brand, personality. education, laughter, of course you can sell, and you will, but that should not be your main objective! Social media is about brand awareness. Now, TikTok... so maybe a lot of you are on social media but you want 2022 to be the year you 'learn tiktok'... So, you set up an account and do an ad right? WRONG. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TikTok is not the place to spend ad money, no no no. The ONLY ads that should be on TikTok are ads that look like a TikTok, and not an ad. If you don't understand what this means, then use TikTok for at least 20 mins per day for a month, then you'll understand. Business accounts on TikTok are a slippery slope, do it right and you'll be iconic, do it wrong and you may as well not be on the app at all. My main advice always when it comes to TikTok is... Spend time learning to understand it. or hire someone who does. TikTok isn't about playing it safe, it is about staying on trend. For 2022 I am expanding my Social Media Mentorship service, in which I will help you with everything you want to know about Social Media. I am offering one off calls or packages of 4x or more - email createtralee@gmail.com or message @create.socialmedia on Instagram for more info, pricing and availability. ''
For more information on what I do or if you are interested in any of my social media service: I offer 1:1 consultation calls, video editing, graphic design and more, you can follow @create.socialmedia on instagram or email me: createtralee@gmail.com to book a call!

THE TEAM AT THE CLINIC ARE HERE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ON COSMETIC AND HAIR RESTORATION ISSUES. I am inquiring about the skin tightening competition in the Tralee advertiser. I had a C-section four years ago and can’t move the fat above the scar. Is skin tightening suitable for me? Joan. Hi Joan , This is the most popular area for skin tightening. Many people eat a balanced diet and exercise often but struggle with stubborn fat on the abdomen, thighs and upper arms . Help is at hand to achieve the shape you always wanted with the Bliss treatments available in CHRC.

CHRC is the only provider for the Bliss treatment in Ireland . This treatment is a non-surgical and non-invasive, making it a safe and comfortable treatment . The advanced radio frequency technology tightens the skin and reduces circumferences to contour the body . The applicator has a deep effect on the tissue and skin will be firmer and smoother. A course of treatments is recommended and treatment time is usually 30 minutes. The area will feel quite warm and will stay that way for up to two hours after your treatment. A lot of people go to sleep during the treatment as it can be very relaxing after a busy day! Contact us at the number below to discuss the best treatment for you. NEWS Bricks Mortar... KEEP YOUR n’ BUSINESS IN TRALEE AND KEEP TRALEE IN BUSINESS! Keep your Business in Tralee and keep Tralee in Business!
OUR PROPERTY PAGE IN ASSOCIATION WITH TOMMY CARMODY’S PROPERTY HOUSE
Tommy’s current market outlook... Hello everyone - I hope you are well? In this weeks Property Corner we have taken a different angle and instead of answering one specific question we have sought advice from John Cashell of Cashell Solicitors who has offered up his advice to those selling property about what documentation you should have gathered and completed before going sale agreed and if followed will result in a sale closing without unnecessary delays... 1.
2.
TITLE DOCUMENTS - If these are with your solicitor great. If not give your solicitor your bank details so they can be ordered immediately and at hand. These can be ordered prior to going to market. LOCAL PROPERTY TAX - Have evidence of the same showing all is up to date for
the current year WATER & DRAINAGE - Details of the same are required. 4. BER CERT & ADVISORY REPORT - should be shared with your solicitor 5. SEPTIC TANK - Be able to show that it is registered 6. LIST OF CONTENTS - Have a list of contents being included within the sale 7. NPPR - A Certificate of Exemption of Discharge for the same will be required 8. HOUSEHOLD CHARGE - A receipt or Certificate showing this has been discharged 9. MARITAL STATUS - Copy of your state marriage or civil partnership certificate (or divorce / separation agreement if applicable) 10. PLANNING PERMISSIONS 3.
& CERTIFICATES OF COMPLIANCE - Full details on the same are required if works have been carried out. 11. MANAGEMENT COMPANY - If your property is run by a management company you will need to supply their contact details and show receipts of service charge being up to date 12. LETTING AGREEMENT - A copy of the same if the home is currently let 13. PERSONAL DETAILS - PPS Number, Photo ID & Utility Bill/Bank statement showing your address will be sought. I would like to offer one main tip when choosing a solicitor and it would be to choose a solicitor who is not going away on holidays or taking leave for the 2-3 months after the expected sale agreed date.
We hope the above is helpful - as always if you have any questions just pick up the phone... Speak soon, hopefully.

AND NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS... from The Tralee Advertiser Team and Tralee Chamber Alliance
Chinese New Year Celebrations at Ballyseedy Home & Gardens After what has been an incredibly hard time for the events industry it is with great anticipation we are slowly seeing a return to organized events and planned activities. One of the first of the year will be the Chinese New Year celebration at Ballyseedy Home & Gardens this weekend. 2022 is the year of the Tiger and to mark this special occasion within the Tralee Chinese Community it is only right we do our part to help celebrate it with them. Ballyseedy Home and Garden are delighted to celebrate the ‘Chinese New Year’ with a vibrant and colourful event packed with Chinese traditions, a Cheongsam fashion show, art, music, song and dance on Saturday and Sunday 5th and 6th of
February between 2pm & 4pm. The event is open to the public and will kick start at Ballyseedy’s Cafe, with the main event happening in the spacious, covered ‘Yard’ area which is located at the rear of the garden centre Returning this year to MC the event is Chris Sun of Hillbilly’s and Angie Baily. The Chinese Community have again shown their full support and this year along with spell-binding singing and mesmerising dancing shows, we will also be presenting the children of China as they showcase their instrumental and story telling talents. Transition year students from Mercy Mounthawk will sing a favourite Chinese tic-toc song, a must for all to see.
Please see the below line up of activities for the weekend ahead.
Huge Turnout at Strand Road Walk/Run to remember Marie!
“A sombre mood in Strand Road last Sunday morning implying the loneliness felt by us as we honoured Marie Nix during the club run and walk. As expected , there was a great turnout. It brought back memories of Marie’s warm smile and friendly and welcoming presence. Marie brought out the best in each player, inspiring confidence in the girls she trained. We who had the pleasure of knowing Marie, both players and adults , will always cherish memories of the great times we shared. It isn’t too many people we get to know in life with Marie’s many great qualities…kindness, positive attitude, great natured, fun… Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories! “ Kerins O Rahillys Ladies

Mayor Launches Community Support Fund 2022 Kerry County Council has this week announced the first of three community funds which will provide significant financial supports to community and voluntary organisations and projects across the county. The 2022 Community Support Fund was launched today by the Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Jimmy Moloney and details will be announced over the next two weeks of separate funding streams to support some operational costs for community groups as well as investment in festivals and events in the county in 2022. Community groups can now apply to the Community Support Fund through the Kerry County Council website and the closing date is Monday, 21 February. A total of €750,000 is being made
available through this year’s scheme. The fund, which is now in its eighth year, has supported over 2,500 projects since 2015. Cllr Moloney said: ‘I warmly welcome the provision of this funding for community groups. Over the past few years, millions have been invested in worthwhile projects and initiatives across the county and which have enormous benefits for every community in the county. I would encourage voluntary and community groups to apply at the earliest opportunity.’ There are four main categories eligible for funding this year including: ∙ Rebuilding and Reconnecting Communities ∙ Tidy Towns Initiatives and Amenity Projects ∙ Community Economic Innovation
∙ Community Tourism, Festivals and Events Queries should be referred by email to the Municipal District which groups are applying to or by contacting the Community and Tourism Department at Kerry County
Council on (066) 7183680. Over the next two weeks, Kerry County Council will publish details of the new Community Activities Fund as well as the Festivals and Events Fund for 2022.
‘Cultivate’ credit union loans available for working capital as fertiliser prices rise With soaring input prices across the agricultural sector, particularly in relation to fertiliser, farmers will need access to increased levels of working capital this Spring. Farmers across county Kerry are facing into a period of price inflation and increased uncertainty. Cultivate, which provides farm loans from the credit union is helping to address this working capital challenge. Cultivate is collaborating with independent local Agri Merchants nationwide to provide additional credit to farmers following this dramatic increase in fertiliser prices. While everyone hopes that this is a short-term issue, additional supports are now needed. Credit unions including Cara Credit Union, Killarney Credit Union and Listowel Credit Union are stepping up to support local farmers who are looking to access a credit facility by offering a working capital loan to manage their cashflow this Spring. Siobhan Donnelly, from the Kerry Cultivate Credit Unions, commented on the increased costs being experienced by farmers,

“The rising cost of fertiliser is the main topic of conversation in farming for the past few months. We hope that while the increased cost of fertiliser will be short-lived, we know that many farmers are finding it tough to respond to these price hikes. The Cultivate loan from our credit union can be used as part of the solution for farmers who are struggling to finance the purchase of fertiliser this Spring.” Joe Healy, former President of the IFA and now Chairperson of Cultivate, said:” This is good news for the agriculture sector. It’s an initiative that will be of benefit to both farmers and merchants.” With a Cultivate Credit Union loan, farmers in Country Kerry are increasingly able to benefit from the local decision making and personal service offered by Cara Credit Union, Killarney Credit Union and Listowel Credit Union. Cultivate offers local farmers the opportunity to talk with people who understand farming and to agree a financial package that is tailored to best suit the needs of the farmer and their farming enterprise. Commenting further, Siobhan Donnelly, from the Kerry
Cultivate Credit Unions said, “We understand the vital importance of fertiliser each Spring and the difficulties that the increased cost will have on farmers. Our Credit Unions are here to support our farming members in this time of turbulence. Cultivate loans are unsecured loans of up to €50,000. For any

If you followed my recipes on the Facebook page of my restaurant Croi, in Prince’s street there is a video of my tomato sauce , and its a good Tomato sauce... Well here is another recipe for it, or indeed any tomato sauce and what it can add to a dish!
BRAISED CHICKEN Bring cold roast chicken back to life with the flavor of a slow-cooked braise in a fraction of the time.
INGREDIENTS • • • • • • • • • • • • •
2 teaspoons olive oil 4 ounces bacon (about 4 strips), sliced crosswise into 1/4” strips 2 shallots, thinly sliced 1/3 cup dry white wine 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 2 teaspoons finely chopped rosemary 200g tomato sauce 125ml chicken stock or water with bouillon 1/2 teaspoon sea salt 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes chicken, cut into 8 pieces 1 bunch curly kale, ribs and stems removed, torn into bite-sized pieces Crusty bread,
METHOD Step 1 Heat oil in a large pan with a lid or braising pan over medium. Cook bacon until fat starts to render, about 5 minutes. Add shallots and cook until shallots are soft and fat is rendered from bacon, 8–10 minutes. Step 2 Increase heat to high and add wine, garlic, and rosemary. Cook, stirring, until wine is reduced by half, about 1 minute. Add tomato sauce chicken stock, salt, and red pepper flakes and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and nestle chicken pieces, skin side up, in sauce. Top with kale, cover, and cook until kale is wilted, about 6 minutes. NEWS TO RQUING CARS!
Must be one of the biggest car shows seen in Kerry!
Car enthusiasts are in for a treat on February 13th as over 140 cars are already confirmed for a fundraising static car show in Tralee. Members of Kerry Motor Club are organising a static car show in Tralee town centre raise funds for club member James Quinlan who faces a very difficult medical journey in New York.
James, from Waterville, suffered a major brain haemorrhage on December 19th and remains in the intensive care unit in a Manhattan Hospital. His friends in the Kerry motorsport community are running a series of events over the coming weeks including the car show at the Brandon Car Park in Tralee on February 13th. So far over 140 cars have been confirmed for the event. These include several rally cars, like a Ford Focus World Rally Car, the Ford Escort Mk2 that won the Killarney Historic Rally in the hands of Rob Duggan and BMW E30 M3 rally car.
One of the highlights in the rally car display will be a replica of the Fiat 131 Abarth that Michelle Mouton drove on the 1980 Monte Carlo Rally. A Porsche 911 RSR rally car and an Audi quattro will also be on show alongside a very rare Fiat Spyder. A single seater Formula 3 racing will also be on show on the day. There are over 60 classic and vintage cars entered, including a 1950s Riley Elf that has been in the same family since new and another rare car, a 1965 Ford Mustang. entered by James’ aunt Norah. Several rally-derived road cars will also go on show including a Lancia Stratos, a Subaru Legacy in the late Bertie Fisher’s colours and an Opel Manta 400 in Dealer Team Opel Ireland livery. Local car dealers are also supporting the event and the latest offerings from Ford, Hyundai and Toyota will be exhibited by Kerry Motor Works, Adam’s of Tralee, and Kelliher’s Garage. The county’s Toyota dealer is also bringing a selection of its own classic collection.
The Mitchell family from Kilgarvan Motor Museum will show off some of its show pieces and fans can also expect to see a classic Volkswagen Camper and a Morris Minor from the 1960s. The Quinlan family estimate that it will cost more than €250,000, possibly as much as four times that figure, to get James the treatment he needs. A GoFundMe campaign over Christmas raised €80,000 but more funds are urgently needed. Kerry Motor Club’s John Liston is a close friend of the
Quinlan family. “We set out to raise funds for our friend and fellow car enthusiast, James, but it now looks like we are about to create one of the biggest, if not biggest car shows ever seen in Kerry,” he said. “We are very grateful to those who have supported so far and extend our thanks,” Additional side events, like a 5k walk and raffles will run alongside the main show. A fulltime table will be published nearer the event.

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR KERRY VERSUS DUBLIN SOLD OUT: If you haven’t gotten your ticket for the latest Kerry versus Dublin renewal of rivalries by the time you are reading this column then you will be watching the sold-out game on television. As always a big crowd of Dublin fans are due to make the trip which will be a welcome early season boost to the hotels and pubs around the town. With Dublin beaten at home by Armagh last weekend and Kerry drawing away to Kildare this game takes on even great importance even if it is only the second game of the Allianz League. Both sides will have been happy when they saw the number of drawn games last weekend but this also shows how hard it will be to gain points over the coming weeks. Kerry fans were not happy with the team’s second half in Kildare and will be watching closely how Jack O’Connor sets up his team on Saturday night. Everything points to another cracker between the Green and Gold and the Blues. League Action Continues: The Kerry hurlers are on the road for their opening game of the 2022 Allianz Hurling League. They go to Westmeath on Sunday for the game that throws in at 12.30. Kerry also begins their Littlewoods Ireland Camogie League campaign on Sunday when they take on Antrim in Division 2 in Lixnaw. SIGERSON JOURNEY CONTINUES: The Aidan O’Mahoney led Munster Technical University Kerry have reached the last four of the Sigerson Cup. They defeated NUI Maynooth 4-15 to 0-07 in their quarter final. KILMOYLEY WILL BE DESERTED ON SATURDAY: While it might be a small area of just over 300 people the hurlers of Kilmoyley will be competing on the hallowed turf of Croke Park this Saturday night with the All Ireland Club Intermediate title up for grabs. The club has been on a wonderful journey and there will be very few left at home when the final against Leinster champions Naas throws in at 5pm. Kilmoyley were impressive winner of their semi-final defeating Banagher from Derry 2-15 to 1-12 while Naas saw off Mayo’s Toureen 0-18 to 0-13. IMPERIALS IN THE HUNT FOR NATIONAL TITLE: With the Pat Duffy Cup in the Warriors trophy cabinet Tralee Imperials will be looking to bring another national basketball trophy to the town this weekend. The have qualified for the final stages of the u18 Men’s Billy Coffey National Cup which takes place in Cork this weekend. On Saturday they take on Cavan Lakers, Ballincollig and Waterford Vikings with the semi-finals and finals set for Sunday.

WARRIORS AT HOME WITH THE CUP: There was no joy for Garvey’s Tralee Warriors as the side the defeated in the recent Cup semi-final DBS Eanna got their revenge in this SuperLeague clash in Dublin. The home side made the better start and were 24-15 ahead after the first quarter and 41-33 up at the half. The lead could have been greater but Aaron Calixte, Daniel Jokubaitis and Eoin Quigley scored late on. Eanna pushed the lead out to 24 in the third quarter but the Warriors battled hard to narrow the gap to 69-53 going into the final quarter. And the Warriors battled to the end but it was the home side that held on for the win 85-75. Daniel Jokubaitis led the Warriors scoring on 25 with Aaron Calixte on 17 and Eoin Quigley on 11. This Saturday afternoon will see a packed Sports Complex for Garvey’s Tralee Warriors play their first home game since that wonderful Cup win. At 5pm (so as not to clash with the Kerry/ Dublin game) Moycullen are the visitors in Round 12 of the SuperLeague in a game that the Warriors will really want to win. KERRY MOTOR CLUB CELEBRATES AHEAD OF A BUSY YEAR: On January 31st a gathering of present and past members of the Kerry Motor Club gathered in the Rose Hotel, one of their big sponsors, to mark exactly 50 years since the first official meeting of the club. The clubs new Committee took over on the night and they have a busy year ahead. Already 130 cars are entered the Déjà vu Tralee. Déjà vu is a gathering of classic rally and supercars organised by Dr Beatty Crawford and Alan Tyndall and has raised over e150,000 for charities with all the profits from the Tralee event going to Recovery Haven Kerry. 130 of the maximum 160 cars allowed are already entered with many well- known rally legends set to attend including Austin MacHale and his son Gareth, Dennis Biggerstaff and Donagh and Eamonn Kelly. The 130 route will circulate the Dingle Peninsula taking in the classic rally stages of Slea Head and the Conor Pass before returning to The Rose Hotel. Fundraiser: Before the Déjà vu event the club’s fundraiser for James Quinlan that takes place on February 13th and already 140 cars are entered. Club media officer Sean Moriarty said that they are delighted with the entry to the static car show. “We hope for a big crowd in the Brandon Car Park with fans able to get up close to cars like the Ford Focus WRC, the Killarney Historic winning rally car – Rob Duggan’s MK2, a
NO JOY FOR NA GAEIL: Na Gaeil’s great run in the Intermediate Cup came to an end last weekend at the Connacht Centre of Excellence when they went down to Derry’s Steelstown Brian Og’s. Scores were hard to come by in the first half with Na Gaeil hitting three points but their opposition got a vital goal in the 20th minute to lead 1-03 to 0-03. Even when Steelstown were reduced to 14 men Na Gaeil were not able to produce the levels of play they had done previously but did cut the gap to just one point. However they were unable to draw level and the Derry sides defence dug in late on. In the last minute a fast break gave Na Gaeil keeper Devon Burns no option but to foul the attacker. Unfortunately as Stefan Okunbor was trying to block the attacker he fell hard on his shoulder and had to be stretchered off. Everybody wishes him a speedy recovery and a quick return to the football field. After the delay the penalty was scored and Steelstown Brian Og’s progressed to the All Ireland final on a 2-06 to 0-07 score line. Na Gaeil, while obviously disappointed, can take huge satisfaction from the year they had and can look forward to playing in the senior championship later this year. CBS THE GREEN ALL SET FOR CORN UI MHUIRI FINAL: The final of the Colleges GAA Corn Ui Mhuiri will be an all Kerry affair. CBS The Green continued their very impressive run with another big display in a 4-18 to 2-08 win over Skibereen in their semifinal. Their opponents in the final will be St Brendan’s (The Sem) Killarney who were pushed all the way before getting the better of Bandon 1-20 to 3-12 after extra time. The final is set for February 12th. PARNELLS NEWS: With the continued growth of camogie in the county Tralee Parnells are now looking for adult players to join the clubs squad. The management has a busy schedule planned for the squad and therefore they need to extend their strength in depth. Anyone who is interested in getting involved is invited along to open training sessions on this Friday night, February 4TH, from 8 to 9pm or on Sunday from 4 to 5pm at the CBS The Green Astro pitch. Diarmuid Brennan is the head coach and can be contacted through the club. With the club celebrating its 10th anniversary this year thoughts are turning to making sure that the club will be in a healthy position for the next decade. They are looking for ideas from members and supporters to help fulfil plans such as developing their own facilities while continuing to fund the day to day expenses of the club. If you wish to get involved in this area of the club please contact any of the officers. Well done to all the club members who are taking part in the Every Step Counts Challenge and the target of 4k in total looks like being reached by February 23rd. IN MEMORY THE MIRACLE PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask you this special one (mention favour). Take it dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your Heart where your Father sees it, then in his merciful eyes it will become your favour not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. S.B.
