St Patrick’s Day Celebration (tonight!)
On March 16th, (Today ! ) Tralee will host an explosion of multi-cultural dance and music as part of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Kerry’s Dancer in Residence, Catherine Young, will return with CÉILÍ Afro Dabke Ukraine, which is an ongoing project by Catherine Young Dance.
The show will feature African dance, traditional dabke dance from Palestine/Syria, old style Irish céilí dances, and Ukrainian folk dance. The evening will begin at 7:30 pm this evening in the Centenary Hall in Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School Tralee. The dance show is the result of eight weeks of dance workshops in Tralee and Ballybunion that involved community groups.

Catherine uses the creative forum of dance and music to bring communities together and explore topics relevant to life in Kerry today. The goal of the project is to allow people to get to know each other better.

The event is free, and everyone is welcome to join in and dance. The floor will open up for everyone to participate in the dance.
Hannah Pinckheard, Assistant Arts Officer with Kerry County Council, expressed her excitement for the event and thanked Presentation Primary School Tralee and Respond Housing Association Ballybunion for their support. The project received financial assistance from Healthy
Ireland under the Ukrainian Refugee Health and Wellbeing Fund. For further information, visit www. Facebook.com/KerryCoArts, follow @KerryCoArts on Twitter, or contact the Arts Office on 066 7183541.
