The commitment emphasizes highlighting the contributions of technical staff to university life at MTU while providing enhanced opportunities for their professional development, long-

EMPLOYER BASED TRAINING -EBT
Experience 2 days in our Centre and 3 days 'On the Job ' training placement, in any area of interest for a Level 4 quali cation (2 Year Course).
Hi, my name is DJ Kelleher and this is my testimonial about starting National Learning Network Tralee, how it helped me improve myself and how it helped me get a job in Mr. Price in Killarney.
Before going to the National Learning Network in Tralee, Clash Road, Co. Kerry, I was a timid, shy young man lacking in self-confidence in myself and my abilities. However, after going to the National Learning Network, I have made not just improvements in myself, but also in my social and interaction skills which helped me make lots of new friends there as well. The courses that I did there were Directions and Introductory Skills Training. I also sampled other courses like Catering, Retail, Employer Based Training, Applied Information Technology and Blended Learning. I started Directions in 2018, it was a three-year course, with the five days going to the college. During that time it gave me the opportunity to go on a journey to find myself and to discover what is it that I want to do in life. Directions has even interest me in learning how to paint and to write poetry. The instructors, staff workers and the other students, who I became friends with, were nice to me, and they always encouraged and challenged me to try something new like cooking, baking and dusting a room.
In 2021, I started my next course called Introductory Skills Training (IST for short), It was a year and a half course with Monday to Wednesday going to the college and Thursday and Friday going on work experience. This course covers everything you need to know about working with others, going out into the workplace and how to make time for work and myself. I made lots of new friends both in this course and out in the workplace, which was in Mr. Price in Killarney, who all helped me to improve myself and to help me become a better person. Thanks to my new friends, the NLN instructors and1 Mr. Price Staff Team, I got myself full time job working twenty one hours a week.
I would like to thank all of National Learning Network Tralee and Mr. Price for helping me to get where I am today and for those who are looking where to go next for further education, I highly recommend National Learning Network Tralee for their positive, helping and hardworking spirit or if its where to go to find work, I also highly recommend Mr. Price Killarney for their different communication and teamworking techniques.

Amanda is wondering if she should do a will. She does not own a house, but she has a husband and two children. A will is a DECLARATION IN WRITING OF PERSON’S WISHES PROVIDING FOR DISTRIBUTION OF HIS PROPERTY AFTER HIS/HER DEATH. One can do a video will, but it must be of a will in a written format. There are certain legal requirements in relation to doing wills, one must be over 18, of sound mind and it must be signed at the end of the will in the presence of two witnesses both of whom should be present at the time one is signing the will. These witnesses or their spouses SHOULD NOT be beneficiaries under the will otherwise they will lose their benefit. One should ensure that all present and future assets will be covered by the will.
Everybody has some property but if Amanda wants to ensure her loved one’s are looked after she would put a life policy in place so if anything happened to her there would be a lump sum for her family. She is married so ideally herself and her husband would do back to back wills mirroring each other leaving everything to each other and appointing each other executor and then providing what would happen if both of them were gone in relation to the infant children appointing testamentary guardians and executors who would manage what was left behind for the infant’s benefit.
REASONS FOR MAKING A WILL.
It is much easier for relatives left behind, It can reduce tax liabilities, One can provide properly for beneficiaries under 18 or disability with a trust, It is a cleaner, cheaper, more efficient way of transferring property. It is the chance to get the last word in without a hope of a reply!
IDEAS FOR MAKING WILLS
Keep it simple. Be Clear. Inform executors that are the managers of your will that they are being appointed especially if they are acting as Guardians as well of infant children. Do a Trust Will for infant children appointing trustees to manage anything you leave them in a will for their benefit.
It is also good to consider a charitable bequest as they are tax efficient.
One should make sure that one has left funeral and burial arrangements in writing so that there can be no dispute. This is not a matter for your will as that is usually only read after the funeral, but you could leave a copy of the funeral and burial wishes with the will and a copy with your executors and with important documentation at home.
It is important to work with a solicitor finalising your will as costs for Wills are reasonable and can save a lot of family trauma if one works out with a solicitor the best way to benefit one’s family and friends in the most tax effective way and is also a great way to plan succession in relation to family assets and businesses.

Minister Norma Foley predicts an increase in students using the school transport scheme in Kerry
Minister for Education and Kerry T.D, Norma Foley, predicts a surge in students utilizing the school transport scheme following the extensive review, the most significant since its inception in 1967. Currently serving 161,000 pupils, the scheme aims to accommodate an additional 100,000 students by 2030.
Minister Foley anticipates a rise in scheme users, currently at 25% in Kerry, with proposed adjustments expected to broaden access. The review suggests reducing qualifying distances, with primary school thresholds decreasing from 3.2km to 2km by 2025/2026 and further reductions to 1km for primary and 2km for secondary students by 2030.
Flexibility is enhanced by eliminating the requirement to attend the nearest school, contingent upon existing bus routes or significant parental demand. Minister Foley underscores the scheme’s benefits, reducing road congestion and facilitating working parents.
Despite increased costs projected at €672m by 2030, up from €444m, the review highlights the necessity of expansion. Conversely, maintaining the status quo would incur €678m. Minister Foley affirms the continuation of reduced fees for the 2024/2025 school year, with primary and post-primary rates set at €50 and €75, respectively, capped at €125 per family—a fraction of the €1,100 per child actual cost.

Kerry volunteer collectors for the IKA remerge after a 4 years hiatus and mark World Kidney Day
The Irish Kidney Association and HSE National Renal Office joined forces on World Kidney Day, March 14, 2024, to spotlight Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Statistics reveal CKD affects 1 in 10 of the general population and 1 in 7 people over 50 in Ireland, closely tied to diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. This year’s campaign also marks the Irish Kidney Association’s national fundraising return after a COVID-19 hiatus.
Volunteers, including patients, will distribute organ donor cards and fundraise at ALDI stores and nationwide. Early CKD detection is crucial, as it progresses silently. A simple test can reveal kidney health status, facilitating proactive management to prevent complications.
CKD spans five stages, with Stage 5 indicating End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD), necessitating dialysis or
a transplant. Over 200,000 Irish over-fifties have CKD, with 5,000 diagnosed with ESKD and 2,400 on dialysis, underlining the need for heightened awareness and support. CKD is intertwined with hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes. Awareness of these connections is vital for patients and healthcare professionals to manage these interconnected health challenges effectively.
Irish Kidney Association’s CEO Carol Moore emphasizes the need to integrate CKD into the HSE National Chronic Disease Management Programme. Resuming the national fundraising campaign is critical amid increased demand for support services.
Prof. George Mellotte of the National Renal Office stresses the need for action to improve outcomes for CKD patients amid Ireland’s demographic shifts.
Pharmacies and General Practitioners are pivotal in patient care, with support for the World Kidney Day campaign from the Irish Pharmacy Union and pharmacy chains.
Campaign materials are available on the Irish Kidney Association’s website for public engagement and awareness. Visit www.ika.ie/ kidneyhealth/ for more information.

Liebherr storage issues accelerate new car park in Fenit
Kerry County Council wishes to advise that the northern section of the public car park in Fenit will be temporarily closed to the public from Thursday, 14 March 2024 for a period of eight weeks.
This is to facilitate Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd., which requires additional storage space in Fenit for a short period due to an unavoidable shipping logistics issue.
To offset this, Kerry County Council has commenced construction, earlier than planned, of a new car park in the nearby O’Sullivan’s field which was granted planning permissions in 2023, and this facility will be available for use by the public from Monday, 25 March.
The elected members of Tralee Municipal District have been briefed on the matter and unanimously agreed with the proposals given the circumstances.
While the Council and local councillors acknowledge that there will be temporary inconvenience, they welcomed the commencement of the new car park which will substantially increase the car parking capacity for the benefit of the village ahead of the summer season.
2023 Kerry Airport Passenger Figures Highest In 15 Years And Exceed 8 Million Since 1989
KERRY Airport’s passenger figures in 2023 soared to levels that have not been seen for 15 years with an increase of 18% on the total from 2022.
A total of 419,281 passengers travelled through Kerry Airport last year on flights to Dublin and overseas destinations in the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal.
That was just 4,000 less than in 2008 which was the highest ever year of traffic since scheduled flights commenced at Kerry Airport.
The CEO of Kerry Airport, John Mulhern, said “More than eight million people have flown in and out of Kerry Airport in the 34 years since scheduled flights commenced in 1989. We’ve surpassed the 400,000-mark twice during that period – in 2023 and before that in 2008 when passenger figures
peaked at 423,248. We were on an upward trajectory in 2019 before the aviation industry was decimated by the pandemic. The recovery has been achieved thanks to the commitment of the Kerry Airport Board, our hard-working management team and staff, the airlines who service the routes and of course, the travelling public.”
Flights to the UK - Manchester, London Luton and London Stansted - accounted for half of the overall passenger footfall in 2023.
The summer sun destinations in Spain and Portugal saw an 92% average seat occupancy in 2023 and booking activity is strong ahead of the commencement of the routes on 1st and 4th April.
Kerry Airport recently announced that Chalair will return to the Kingdom to service three routes to popular summer holiday destinations in France commencing from 29th

FLYING HIGH !
A plane was flying through some very rough turbulence. The passengers were getting nervous, so the flight attendant began to reassure them. “Don’t worry,” she said. “This plane is built to withstand much worse than this.”
Just then, there was a loud noise and the plane began to shake violently. The flight attendant rushed to the cockpit to ask the captain what was going on.
“I’m not sure,” he said. “But I think we just lost one of our engines.”
The flight attendant went back to the passengers and said, “Don’t worry, folks. The captain says we can still fly with three engines. It just means we’ll be a little delayed.”
One of the passengers looked up and asked, “If we lose another engine, how long will the delay be?”
The flight attendant smiled and replied, “Oh, not long. We’ll be plummeting to the ground at that point.”

Brendan from KP Therapy answers your questions about Muscles, Aches & Pains.
What conditions can be treated effectively with Neuromuscular Therapy?
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) can treat a wide range of conditions from joint pain (e.g. hip pain, shoulder pain), muscular pain (e.g. low back pain, neck pain), postural imbalances, sports injuries, and repetitive strain injuries.
How does Neuromuscular Therapy differ from other treatments?
While other approaches have their merit, NMT focuses on and works closely with our nervous system to help alleviate pain and restore movement. NMT considers the interconnectedness of the muscular and nervous system to tackle the underlying factors in your injury/condition.
How can I book an appointment with KP Therapy?
Simply, head over to www.kptherapy.ie to schedule an appointment.
What’s involved in a Neuromuscular Therapy Session?
While every NMT session is different, a typical NMT session involves an initial assessment followed by hands on treatment using a range of NMT techniques. To conclude the session your therapist will provide some aftercare advice and information on follow-up treatment.
How long will it take to see results?
Many people feel the benefit after only one session. However, for more complex issues, 5-6 sessions are recommended.
Have a good weekend!

Amazon making to Firesticks
It’s been reported online that Amazon is developing Vega, an internal operating system, to replace Fire OS, an Android-based operating system. Despite the fact that the project dates back to 2017, it is reportedly advanced enough to potentially launch on Fire TV and smart display devices as early as next year. Like the majority of contemporary operating systems, including iOS and Android, Vega is purportedly built on a variant of Linux. It is purported to employ an application model that is web-forward and centres around the React Native framework. Many developers are currently using React Native in their projects for Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, the web, and other platforms. The large number of apps that are currently available for use on Fire OS would be completely destroyed if devices like Firesticks were to move away from Android-based operating systems; however, as React Native is supported on the new OS, most popular apps would be able to easily migrate to Vega. Its unclear if this will a ect all resticks
In my option I expect current Fire TV models to receive this OS update plus they should still support their current lineup with updates for years to come.
