Invisalign treatment What is Invisalign treatment? Invisalign treatment is a form of orthodontic treatment which uses clear aligners instead of standard brackets and wires. It can be used to treat the majority of cases where teeth are crowded. It has become very popular in recent years due to the excellent outcomes in treatment and its ease of use. Is the treatment obvious? The advantage of wearing clear aligners is that they are very discreet. It is not obvious at first glance that the individual is undergoing treatment and this is why they are so popular. The aligners are clear .Sometimes the dentist will bond attachments to the teeth which are tooth coloured . This is done to move the tooth in a particular direction and to ensure the aligners fit properly. How long does the treatment last? The treatment time varies depending on how severely crowded the teeth are. Treatment times can vary from 4 month to 2 years or longer. Is it painful? When teeth are moving via orthodontic treatment , the tooth presses on the ligament

written by Dr Susan Crean

surrounding the tooth and a little discomfort is felt. The technology used in Invisalign is very advanced resulting in minor planned tooth movements each week and overall greater patient comfort. Any discomfort can be managed with mild painkillers i.e paracetamol. How often do you wear the aligners? The aligners should be worn practically full time except for brushing your teeth and eating. A rough guideline is 22 hours per day. Are there different types of Invisalign? Yes there are different types of Invisalign. These vary from Invisalign lite, Invisalign go and teen for more basic movements to comprehensive treatment. Not all practitioners provide more complex treatment depending on their training and experience level therefore it is worth questioning the provider regarding the range of options that they provide before commencing treatment. Are all aligner systems the same? Unfortunately , not all teeth straightening systems are the same , Some aligner systems only provide very basic tooth

movements and do not move the root of the tooth resulting in a higher risk of relapse post treatment. It is strongly recommended to find a suitably trainer practitioner to provide orthodontic treatment. I have seen teeth straightening systems online which are cheaper , are these the same? It is strongly recommended to avoid these online teeth straightening systems . The majority end in failure and in some circumstances patients can end up having sound teeth removed due to poorly planned /non planned treatment. All suitably qualified practitoners will take complete records such as a clinical assessment including assessing both the hard and soft tissues , gum health any habits such as thumb sucking

or tongue thrusting. They will take measurements, moulds of teeth/scans and x-rays. It is not possible to accurately plan the treatment without taking all of these into consideration. Therefore online systems are detrimental. It is a case of buyer be wear ! Those that have purchased on line teeth straightening systems have found that they have very little recourse as these treatments have not been provided by either an orthodontist or dentist. How successful is Invisalign? Invisalign is one the fastest growing aligner systems in the world . It is hugely successful and delivers excellent long lasting results whilst being conspicous.

Nora Chicken fajita pasta bake (1 hour 10 minutes | Serves 4) We’ve given a comforting family favourite a spicy Mexican-style twist!! So versatile and filling it always goes down well in our house as a family friendly midweek meal.

Ingredients • Low-calorie cooking spray • 2 red onions, finely sliced • 2 peppers, any colour, deseeded and sliced • 2 garlic cloves, crushed • 2 tsp fajita seasoning* (see tip) • 680g jar passata • 1 chicken stock cube • 300g dried paccheri or rigatoni pasta • 4 skinless and boneless chicken breasts, sliced into thin strips • 160g mature reduced-fat Cheddar, grated • Mixed-leaf salad, to serve

Method Preheat your oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/gas 6. Spray a large, deep non-stick frying pan with low-calorie cooking spray and place over a medium heat. Fry the onions and peppers for 8-10 minutes, or until so ened and a little coloured. Add the garlic and fajita seasoning with a splash of water, and fry for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Add 480g of the passata, the stock cube and 250ml boiling water. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes. Season to taste. Meanwhile, boil the pasta for 3 minutes less than the pack instructions (it will finish cooking in the oven), then drain well. Add the chicken to the tomato sauce and bring to a simmer. Toss the pasta through the sauce, then transfer to a 25cm x 30cm baking dish. Season the remaining passata, spoon it over the pasta, then scatter the cheese evenly over the top. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and crisp, and the sauce is bubbling around the edges. Leave to stand for 5 minutes, then divide between 4 plates and serve with the mixed-leaf salad. THE TEAM AT THE CLINIC ARE HERE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ON COSMETIC AND HAIR RESTORATION ISSUES. I am heading to Portugal in August and would like some info on body treatments to prepare. Cellulite and toning is what I am most interested in.

Lisa

Hi Lisa , a break away sounds amazing. At CHRC we can work with you to get one step closer to your body goals with one of our non surgical body treatments to reduce cellulite, tighten skin and reduce fat from problem areas. To tighten and reduce circumference at the waist, thighs and arms, we use advanced FDA approved technology to safely and comfortably deliver energy below the skin surface in a 20 minute session to create a slimmer figure with more defined shape. This non-surgical non-invasive treatment uses radio frequency technology to rejuvenate the appearance of skin by triggering the natural production of your own collagen and elastin. The treatment selectively breaks down fat cells which are naturally eliminated through the body. This is a very comfortable session; our clients, (including Elaine Burrows, champion open water swimmer and mother of two!) describes that it feels like a hot stone massage. To find out if this treatment is for you, book a one to one consultation with one of our practitioners. We will discuss your body goals with you and talk you througha bespoke treatment plan to understand what will work best for you. Each treatment focuses on different areas of the body. Cellulite reduction treatments activate your body’s natural collagen and elastin to target cellulite and improve the appearance of bumps and dimpling. Fat reduction is for stubborn pockets of fat on the waist, back and abdomen. Skin tightening is for problem area such as the stomach, thighs, back fat and upper arms. To get the best from this treatment and maximise results, you must also watch your diet and maintain a regular exercise regimen. Where it would be helpful, we can even team you up with one of our CORU registered dieticians or physios to make a diet or exercise plan to really compliment your treatment.

AND NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS... from The Tralee Advertiser Team and Tralee Chamber Alliance

Coming up: Breakfast Briefing on Employment Law We are delighted to reintroduce our popular series of Breakfast Briefings, organised by our team here at Tralee Chamber. The Breakfast Briefing is a meetup for employers to discuss and learn about a whole range of issues concerning local business communities today. This week’s topic? HR and employment law. If you employ staff, this one’s for you. The HR and Employment Law Update session will be the second in-person Breakfast Briefing since the end of restrictions and will take place on Thursday 5th May at the Pavilion Rooms in the Ballygarry House Hotel at 9.00am. Tralee Chamber Alliance, in partnership with AIB, has teamed up with the HR Suite for the event so if there is anything you wanted to know about employment law but were too afraid to ask, now is your change. Covid caused a remarkable shift in the way we work and the in the way

we want to work; 2022 looks like a year for many legislative updates and The HR Suite will be on hand to address all of these expected changes. “We are thrilled to support this key event which will cover important information for all employers and we are looking forward to working more with Tralee Chamber Alliance in the coming months,” said Stephen Stack Branch Manager of AIB Tralee. “SME’s who have limited resources that don’t always include a designated HR section, can find it particularly difficulty to keep track of new employment legislation. This event will provide clarity around the key updates, which will be of benefit to all attendees,” said Colette O’Connor CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance.

Over 3000 cyclists return to ‘RIDE DINGLE‘ last weekend! Ride Dingle made a muchanticipated return to West Kerry on Saturday, when over 3,000 cyclists from around Ireland descended upon Dingle to cycle the country’s most scenic sportive. Ride Dingle is known worldwide for its stunning views of the Wild Atlantic Way along a choice of two routes of 55km and 120km that wind their way around the Dingle Peninsula. Cyclists are treated to uninterrupted views of iconic Irish landmarks such as Skellig Michael, the Blasket Islands, Conor Pass (one of Ireland’s highest mountain passes), Slea Head and the historical fishing port of Dingle.

Interest in this year’s event has been overwhelming after a pandemic-related hiatus put a temporary stop to events in 2020. This resulted in much excitement and anticipation at the start line in Dingle Town as the event got under way at 8am, and cyclists progressed at their own pace along the coast road out towards Slea Head. Oliver Kirwan from Elite Event Management said: “We are delighted with how well Ride Dingle went on Saturday. As always, we’ve worked hard with Dingle Cycling Club to manage the smooth delivery of this event, whilst ensuring it is bigger and better than

ever. We are thankful for this opportunity to bring so many people to Dingle and show them the best the Wild Atlantic Way has to offer. We are fortunate to be able to reach a wider audience through our connection with Dingle Peninsula Tourism, including the Mayor and former Mayor of West Springfield, American Sister City to the Dingle Peninsula, who took part in this year’s Ride Dingle. A huge thank you to our volunteers and marshals who did an outstanding job as usual.”Participants enjoyed uninterrupted blue skies, constant sunshine, plenty of food stops en route, as

well as refreshments and live music at the finish line at Paul Geaney’s Bar. Ride Dingle partners with Dingle Peninsula Tourism to increase awareness of this part of Kerry, and also contributes locally by making a donation to charity Camphill Community that helps those with intellectual needs. Organisers Elite Event Management and Dingle Cycling Club are looking forward to staging Ride Dingle again next year with a provisional date of Saturday 15th April 2023.

Further funding of €265,650 will be provided by Kerry County Council bringing the total investment through the scheme to €1,771,000. The Brexit Adjustment: Local Authority Marine Infrastructure Scheme 2022-2023 is designed to support economic sectors, businesses and local communities and to support job creation. The aim is to enhance, upgrade, modernise and develop Ireland’s publiclyowned coastal and marine infrastructure to facilitate diversification of economic opportunities.

Know Your Rights: Is my child eligible for the School Transport Scheme? If they are between 4 and 12 years old and living 3.2 kilometres or more from a primary school, or 4.8 kilometres or more for post-primary, they may qualify for transport to school. The service is only provided where there are at least 10 eligible pupils in a distinct locality that can be economically serviced by a bus route. You do not have a legal entitlement to it. Free transport is available to children with special needs to and from special schools and classes. If transport is not available a Special Transport Grant may be an option. Where will the bus pick up my child? Parents must bring their child to their nearest pick-up point. Generally, bus routes are arranged so that no pupil has more than 3.2 kilometres to travel to a pick-up point. How much does it cost? • Primary school children: €100 per pupil, but not more than €150 per family • Post-primary school students: €350 per pupil, but not more than €500 per family If you are eligible for school transport and you have a valid medical card, you are entitled to free school transport to your nearest school. How do I find out about routes near me and when do I apply?

A WEEKEND FOR ENTERTAINING!

If your doing some outdoor dining this weekend or having friends over, here is a winner winner chicken dinner every time

GREEN JALAPEÑO HOT WINGS

(Serves 6) These roasted (rather than deep-fried) buffalo-style chicken wings are smothered in a spicy green jalapeño sauce, which is pureed with pickled jalapeños for an extra hit of puckery flavour.

INGREDIENTS • • • • • • • • • • •

5 pounds chicken wings, split at the joints and tips reserved for stock Salt and freshly ground pepper 1/2 cup green jalapeño hot sauce 2 tablespoons coarsely chopped pickled jalapeños 1 stick butter 2 large garlic cloves, minced 1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt 1/4 cup mayonnaise 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 2 ounces blue cheese, crumbled (1/2 cup)Celery sticks, for serving

METHOD Preheat the oven to 200 and position 2 racks in the middle and upper third. Spread the wings out on 2 baking sheets in a single layer and season with salt and pepper. Roast for 40 minutes, turning once, until the wings are golden and crisp Meanwhile, in a food blender, puree the hot sauce and pickled jalapeños until smooth. In a small saucepan, cook the butter with the garlic over moderate heat just until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add the puree to the saucepan and bring to a simmer. Transfer the sauce to a large bowl. Rinse out the processor Add the yogurt, mayonnaise, vinegar and blue cheese to the processor and pulse until fairly smooth. Season with salt and pepper and transfer to a small bowl Using tongs, transfer the chicken wings to the bowl with the hot sauce and toss to coat. Pour the wings and any extra sauce onto a large platter and serve right away, passing the blue cheese dip and celery sticks at the table

TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER

with “The Voice” Pat Harnett

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR SUCCESS ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE FOR THE KSBGL: To play in an international tournament wearing your League / County jersey is a wonderful experience for any young player. The Kerry Schoolboys Girls 15’s and 16’s teams had the experience in Spain at the weekend with the 16’s ending 4th. However it was the 15’s that took the plaudits winning the competition after 6 unbeaten games against teams from the UK, France, Iceland and Spain. The final for the 2007’s was against the Catalonian champions Bosc de Tosca and Owen O’Mahonys charges won in the most nailbiting of fashions – 7-6 in sudden death penalties!! The teams were tied 4-4 after the regulation 5 penalties each and 6-6 when Harvey Mangan (Killorglin FC) made the vital save and Camp Juniors David Moore scored the vital spot kick. The full squad were a credit to their clubs, coaches and families and from a Tralee point of view St Brendan’s Park Jack O’Mahony and Tralee Dynamos Mathew Rogers and Shay Kelliher did everyone proud. The KSBGL Secretary David Slattery was the Head of Delegation for the League. Attention now turns to the knock-out stages of the SFAI Munster and National Inter League competitions. The Girls are in the SFAI Inter League knock-out stages of the 12’s Cup, 13’s Trophy, 15’s and 16’s Bowl while the boys are in the 13’s Cup, 15’s Bowl and 16’s trophy. On the Munster stage the 15’s are in action tonight, Friday night, in the semifinal when they face Limerick County in Georgie O’Callaghan Park, Castleisland. JOY FOR KERRY AS BASKETBALL IRELAND AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED: Basketball in Kerry is enjoying great days and when Basketball Ireland announced their 2022 Award winners there was more good news. From a Tralee point of view congratulations to Garvey’s Tralee Warriors duo John Dowling (Men’s SuperLeague Coach of the Year) and Aaron Calixte (Men’s SuperLeague Player of the Year) and Gaelcholaiste Chiarrai who have been named as Girls B School of the Year. These were amongst a number of Kerry winners. PAIRC UI RINN FINALLY CONFIRMED AS VENUE: After all the grandstanding from the Cork footballers they have gotten their way and they will play Kerry in Pairc Ui Rinn in the Munster Senior Football Championship semi-final. In fairness this was a mess of the Munster Council’s making and not the Cork footballers. Credit goes to Jack O’Connor and all involved on the Kerry side as they accepted the request from Cork to have the smaller venue included in the home and away agreement for this year only.

28

Friday 29th April 2022

Next year the game between the sides, hopefully in a Munster final, will be in Killarney on a Sunday afternoon. Now the challenge for Cork is to put in a performance against Kerry who won’t have let all this bother them in their preparation. The senior game throws in at 6pm and is preceded by the Ladies Provincial Football Championship clash of Kerry and Tipperary which begins at 3.30pm. KERRY HURLERS BACK ON TRACK: Well done to the Kerry hurlers who got their Joe McDonagh campaign back on track with an impressive 3-21 to 0-15 point win away to Carlow. Next up Kerry are at home to Meath on Saturday April 30th. U20’S MUNTER TITLE WRAPPED UP – NOW FOR TYRONE With all the success for Kerry football teams over the year’s one of the trophies that is a rare visitor is the u20 Munster Cup. However that has changed after a 1-11 to 0-07 win over Cork in the Eirgrid Munster final. They now advance to the All Ireland semi-final where Tyrone will be the opponents on the weekend of May 7th and 8th. PARNELL’S NEWS: Well done to all the underage squads for the effort they put in this week. The 7’s are preparing for their first game and this week Patrick O’Connor was named the Player of the Week. The u9’s enjoyed hosting Lixnaw while the 11’s had a busy week as they were away to Ballyduff and then played Abbeydorney and Kilgarvan. The u13’s came from behind to secure a draw against Causeway 1-06 to 2-03. The u12’s Girls welcomed Kileedy for a really enjoyable challenge game. Both sets of players enjoyed the post-match hospitality in the sunshine provided by the parents. The club is delighted for the it’s players who have been selected for County Development Squads. The club’s Question Time team of Dan Maloney, Brian Reidy, Oisin O’Sullivan and Donnacha Buttimer coached by Damien Kissane are all set for the All Ireland final in the INEC this Sunday May 1st. The team has already won Kerry and were second in Munster. The club thanks the Costello Family through Eamon Costello (Kerry) Limited for the water boiler they generously donated. It is already getting great use. At Senior level the A’s went down 0-10 to 0-23 in Round 6 of the County Hurling League. The B’s lost out to Dr Crokes 1-19 to 2-05. AUSTIN STACKS NEWS: The u7’s are training ahead of their Go Games while the u9’s visited Legion. They are getting excited ahead of their trip to

Dublin on May 22nd for the Kilmacud Tournament. The u11’s are in County League action. The u13’s Black team travelled to take on Miltown/Castlemaine in the County League Division 2 with the home side winning 3-14 to 2-11. The Amber team went down to the same opposition. The 15’s took the bragging rights with a win over John Mitchels. The seniors lost their first game of the County League going down by 1 point to St Mary’s 1-11 to 0-13. They play Dingle at home this Sunday. The B’s lost to Fossa while the minors went down to Kenmare Shamrocks. The Paul Lucey Run/Walk 5k/10k returns this Monday starting at 11am. This is the 4th edition of the event and registration is open on-line or at the club on the morning of the walk/run from 9am to 10.30am. It costs e5 for u12s and e10 for over 12’s. KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: In the Division 1 County League Round 4 Kerins O’Rahillys defeated Dr Crokes 1-11 to 0-11. They play Gneeveguilla this weekend. In Division 6A the B’s had an impressive 3-11 to 2-06 over Castleisland Desmonds. The Gaelic4Girls programme is back this weekend. The underage Girls teams are in the final stages of their League campaigns. The senior ladies put in a great performance against Beale in Round 3 of the Donal Curtin Cup. The club wishes its teams that are taking part in the annual Feile Peil na nOg and Feile na nGeal competitions. The Juvenile Academy had another successful outing at all ages last weekend and will be out training again this weekend. Lotto: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 5,6, 18 and 25. The next jackpot will be e4900. On the Lotto the club is looking for a Coordinator to work 2 to 3 hours mostly on Monday’s and Tuesday’s to coordinate this vital club fundraiser. If you are interested place contact the club’s Secretary – secretary. kerinsorahillys@gmail.com DÉJÀ VU TRALEE TO BE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED ON MONDAY: The 2022 Déjà Vu Tralee will be officially launched this Monday at 12.30pmat the Rose Hotel. This will be a great opportunity to see some of the cars that will be taking part. The two day motorsport event will take place on May 27th and 28th with over 150 cars taking part, headquartered in the Rose Hotel. They will take in some of the scenic West Kerry stages including the Conor Pass, Slea Head and Camp Mountain. Some classic rally cars will draw the crowds to the stages and the monies raised from this charity event will be donated to Recovery Haven. This is the seventh Déjà vu event and so far over e200,000 has been raised for charities since 2016. Déjà vu Tralee is one of the flagship events of the Kerry Motor Clubs yearlong 50th birthday celebrations. Rally of the Lakes- Staying with motorsport and Killarney will be packed this weekend with the 41st edition of the RALLY OF THE LAKES. The rally returns after being postponed in 2020 and 2021. The action gets underway on Friday night with the Ceremonial Start on Main Street from 7pm. Saturday sees two loops of three stages – Kilsarcon,

Banard and Gortnagane while on Sunday the competitors tackle Molls Gap and Ballaghbeama twice before the final two stages of Shanera and Caragh Lake. Cars are expected to be back at the Gleneagle on the finish ramp around 5.30pm. SIX OF THE BEST: Following a victorious League campaign there was more good news for the Kerry Ladies team as 6 members have been named on the Lidl Ladies NFL Division 2 Team of the League – Kayleigh Cronin, Cait Lynch, Aishling O’Connell, Lorraine Scanlon, Anna Galvin and Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh. WHEELBLASTERS GO DOWN IN THE END TO KILLESTER: In the end the Kingdom Wheelblasters went down 55-34 to Killester WBC in their Irish Wheelchair Basketball League clash in Ballybrack. The Kerry side were matching their opponents score for score until the final quarter. As they tired a little Killester took control. The fact that the Wheelblasters had only 6 players on duty against a full squad didn’t help as the game went down the stretch. All the Wheelblasters on duty put in a great effort with their young players Dean McCarthy, Cian Horgan and Niamh Buckley giving their all against one of the sport’s top teams. SWIM GALA A GREAT SUCCESS: Well done to all involved in the Kingdom Swimming Club who ran a very successful Invitational Club Gala last weekend – its first for over two years. Teams from Munster and Connacht were delighted to compete at a Swim Ireland Level 3 event and many of the competitors achieved the times needed to qualify for the Nationals in UL in July. It was also a good meet for many of the host club swimmers who achieved personal bests and a number of them made the podiums. ST BRENDAN’S 16’S IN FINAL BASKETBALL COMPETITION OF THE SEASON: Well done to St Brendan’s Tralee whose u16’s Boys took part in the All Ireland Club Championship finals in Dublin at the weekend. It probably didn’t go that they wanted in Division A but it was great to see them flying the Kerry Airport KABB flag on the national stage in the final competition of the year. Congratulations to St Mary’s u16 Boys who won Division B with a basket in the last few seconds. ON THE GREEN’S: At the Tralee Golf Club in the Men’s Scotch Foursomes – sponsored by Sean Hussey the winners were Gerard Power & Donal O’Connell on 44 points.
