LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES Where there’s a Will there’s a Way. Fiona is wondering whether she should make a Will or not. She does not feel that she has a lot to leave behind, she has large savings, expensive jewellery, and a Tesla Car but she rents her apartment and does not have any land or buildings to bequeath. She has several nieces and nephews whom she adores, and she is hoping to help with their education. She also owns a parrot called Tomahawk. EVERYONE SHOULD MAKE A WILL. That looks like it was shouted from the rooftops, but it is so important for one’s loves ones left behind as it means they have a way or a path as to the person’s wishes when they are gone. As a more affluent society now everyone has something to leave someone, and it means a lot to next of kin that they have been thought of by the deceased person. The main issue for Fiona will be the tax thresholds of her parents, brother, sisters, nephews, and nieces as they are each entitled to a maximum of €32,500 tax free therefore it would be better to spread her savings and assets around. Her Tesla car would be over this threshold, and she might look at leaving it to two of her siblings or nephews/nieces depending on their age. She could do a life policy very cheaply as she is quite young and, in that way, if anything happened to her and she was not around to help with her nephews and nieces education the life policy could be placed in trust for their benefit. In fact, trusts are a helpful way of reducing Inheritance tax liability. Often people feel like they have nothing to leave their next of kin whereas a simple life policy can dramatically change that picture. For new blended families also where each of the parties to the marriage want to leave their property to their own children a life policy can also help her to ensure their spouses are provided for. Fiona might also like to consider leaving some money to a regulated charity of her choice as that is also tax free. Back to Wills generally these are formal legal documents where you set out managers/executors of your will their name, address, and occupation and what your wishes are in relation to any property/assets/savings/jewellery/paintings/books/ cars/campervans/house contents/ life policy proceeds etc that you leave behind. It is important to ensure that they consider inheritance taxes particularly if one is not married to one’s partner. One further aspect to consider is if one has young children that assets are placed in trust with trustees for them and to appoint a testamentary guardian or guardians in the Will also. The appointment of a testamentary guardian for young children is important and again a life policy can be paid into to benefit the children if anything happens their parent or parents. This is particularly important for single parents. Funeral and Burial Wishes might be put with the Will but should also be given directly to next of kin. Another matter to consider would be care of pets. A Parrot can live up to 90 years so Fiona would need to specifically provide what might happen Tomahawk in her Will and while our canine and feline friends might not live as long it is important to provide for their care if anything happens to their owner. Lawquip: Where there’s a will there are relations but where there is no will there are even more relations. If you have a legal query or need further information on any item addressed in this column please send in your query to miriam.mcgillycuddy@gmail.com. WANTED THE TEAM AT THE CLINIC ARE HERE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ON COSMETIC AND HAIR RESTORATION ISSUES. I am prone to redness and rosacea but recently it has become a lot worse. Can you recommend a good treatment?
What we do know is that something irritates the skin, leading to chronic inflammation with intermittent flare ups. In CHRC we use IPL -intense pulsed light to target capillaries and reduce redness. A patch test is required and during your consultation our practitioner will determine how many treatments you might need. Products can help too, to help strengthen the capillary walls and target the redness-prone skin. We have an extensive product range to suit all skin needs and preferences. SensiCalm, our medical grade cleanser, calms redness and brightens the skin. Everactive C&E + peptide is a potent antioxidant serum for cellular protection. My favourite is Calm –R, a soothing hydrating serum that targets visible redness and blemishes while maintaining skin’s delicate moisture balance.

Jim. Hi Jim, Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterised by flushing, redness, bumps and pimples. It is most often seen in fair-skinned people between 30- 50 and typically affects checks, nose, forehead and chin. It’s becoming more common now and is more aggressive in men. The cause is not yet certain but theories include unstable vessels, genetics and sun exposure.
SPF with zinc oxide is essential to protect your skin against any aggravating effects of sun exposure.

Do You Fear Dental Treatment?
Attending the dentist can sometimes be a daunting prospect if you haven’t had dental treatment for some time or if you are undergoing more complex dental procedures. Thankfully if you are particularly nervous there is one treatment option which might work for you!Dental sedation allows you to feel more comfortable during treatment whilst still being fully awake during treatment. What is dental sedation? Dental sedation is available in numerous types from oral(tablet ) to Nitrous oxide (happy gas) and IV sedation(using a cannula in a vein). What is involved? During sedation you are still awake for the procedure but the action of the sedative enduces a relaxed state . The feeling is one of complete relaxation with very little memory of the procedure itself.During nitrous oxide sedation a mask is placed over the nose (these can be scented if desired particularly useful for children)The gas is inhaled though the nose during the procedure. The gas is comprised of nitrous oxide
and is commonly known as laughing gas. Is everyone suitable? Nitrous oxide sedation is suitable for both adults and children. It is not suitable for pregnant women. If you suffer from a respiratory condition then you are most likely not suitable for treatment. Common colds, and allergies may prevent treatment on the day as it impairs the ability to breath the gas in sufficiently. Dental sedation is particularly useful for children if they are anxious or are needle phobic or in cases where a general anaesthetic is not advisable. What procedures can be done under sedation? All treatments can be done under sedation from dental scaling/cleaning, treatment of gum disease to more complex treatments such surgical extractions. Does it work if you have a strong gag reflex? Sedation works particularly well if you have a strong gag reflex as it relaxes the muscle and reduces the gagging sensation. It is excellent if taking dental impressions(moulds of the teeth)are required for those
that are very sensitive. Is there any downtime? When receiving nitrous oxide sedation or laughing gas the clinician will monitor you after treatment . You will not be discharged from the clinic until you are fully recovered. For further details contact Dr Susan Crean Dental and Facial aesthetics., 12 Denny street Tralee on 066 7117577 or info@creandental.ie

AND NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS... from The Tralee Advertiser Team and Tralee Chamber Alliance
Dillon Waste to Partner with TCA on Sustainability By Georgie Downes
We all want to be greener these days, to do more for the environment, which is why we at The Tralee Chamber Alliance are proud and delighted to announce that Dillon Waste is coming on board as our new Green and Renewable Strategic Partner for 2022 – 2023! Dillon Waste is no stranger to sustainability. In fact, this family-run company, with over 40 years’ experience in the waste management business, have won several awards including the ‘Repak Excellence in Waste Management and Recycling’ award and the ‘Waste Collection Operator of the Year Award’ in 2015. Their
onsite facility, located at The Kerries, Tralee, includes a state of the art civic amenity centre where members of the public can bring their recycling for free, including aluminum cans, cardboard, bottles, scrap metal, steel cans and clothes. Everyone feels better after a trip to the recycling centre! TCA Chief Executive Colette O Connor said the organisation was delighted to be partnering with Dillon’s Waste on such an important issue as the environment. “We value this new relationship with Dillon Waste. They have been a key support on several Chamber endeavours, including the recent and successful National
Clean-Up Day, and with their support we will continue to work with our members on various projects to achieve
sustainability within business.” Ms O’Connor said.

Why was six afraid of seven? Because seven eight nine. What do you call a hippie’s wife? Mississippi. What’s the difference between an outlaw and an in-law? Outlaws are wanted.
One of the oddities of Wall Street is that the dealer, not the customer, is the broker. A rich man is One who isn’t afraid to ask the clerk to show him something cheaper.
Scientists have recently discovered a food that greatly reduces sex drive. It’s called wedding cake. Before you marry a person, you should first make them use a computer with a slow Internet connection to see who they really are. I never knew what happiness was until I got married—and then it was too late. Some men say they don’t wear their wedding band because it cuts off circulation. Well, that’s the point, isn’t it?

Advice to husbands: Try praising your wife now and then, even if it does startle her at first. After finishing our Chinese food, my husband and I cracked open our fortune cookies. Mine read, “Be quiet for a little while.” His read, “Talk while you have a chance.”...

IN MEMORY THE MIRACLE PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask you this special one (mention favour). Take it dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your Heart where your Father sees it, then in his merciful eyes it will become your favour not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. A.M.R.

TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER
with “The Voice” Pat Harnett
FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR HUGE WEEKEND FOR THE GIRLS GAME IN KERRY: These are very exciting times for our Girls Inter League teams (as well of course as our Boys Kennedy Cup squad as the countdown is on to mid-June and for our 15’s who qualified for their National semi-final with a 3-0 win away to Limerick County and will now welcome North Dublin to Kerry in two weeks). But following a busy weekend last weekend where the 13’s Girls reached the Shield finals at the Tipperary Tournament and our 12’s played two games against one of the strongest Leagues – the MGL from Dublin winning one and losing one attention turns to this Sunday in Mastergeeha. The SFAI Munster Girls finals take place with 5 Kerry squads in action: 12’s Munster Cup Final – Kerry v Limerick County 12 noon with the sides playing a Development Game at 2pm. 15’s Munster Cup Final – Kerry v South Tipperary 12 noon, 13’s Munster Shield Final – Kerry v South Tipperary 2pm and 16’s Munster Shield Final Kerry v South Tipp at 4pm LEAGUE OF IRELAND CRACKER IN MOUNTHAWK: There was no shortage of excitement at Mounthawk Park as the Kerry 19’s and Shelbourne FC shared 8 goals. Kerry went ahead but then the Dublin side scored twice before the home side equalised. Shelbourne went ahead but in the 91st minute Cian Brosnan scored his second and Kerry FC’s fourth to ensure a share of the spoils. The other Kerry goals came from Daniel Okwute and Cianan Cooney. ST BRENDAN’S PARK BRING HOME JOHN O’FLYNN PLATE: The Kerry Schoolboys Girls League 10’s competition was named after John O’Flynn who was involved for many years in soccer in Tralee. It was apt that St Brendan’s Park took home one of the trophies as their Green team won the Plate. They were pushed all the way by Inter Kenmare before they came through on penalties. The Bowl was won by Castleisland who defeated Inter Kenmare B 3-2, the Shield went to Killarney Celtic who needed extra time to defeat Listowel Celtic B 6-4 after they came back from 4-0 down to draw the game 4-4. And the Cup was won by Dingle Bay Rovers who were 4-2 winners against Listowel Celtic A. AUSTIN STACKS NEWS: The club thanks all those who have paid their membership and reminds those who have still to pay to do so as soon as possible. Those who have not paid are no longer in the weekly Lotto draw and not eligible for All Ireland tickets should Kerry reach the July decider. This Friday the A’s are at home to Rathmore in Round 7 of the County League while their Round 6 game against Dr Crokes has been put back to Friday May 27th.

The B’s went down to Castlegregory 2-17 to 1-06 in their County League Round 6. The minors took on Ardfert during the week and the club is also delighted for its players who are on the Kerry minor team that are into the Munster final which is set for June 1st where they will play the winners of Tipperary and Cork (who in this ‘strange’ system have a second chance to qualify). Club Lotto: There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 7, 17, 27 and 31 and the next jackpot will be e2,350. The Austin Stacks All-Stars programme was another great success and the players will be back in Connolly Park this Sunday at 10am. The u7’s enjoyed their game with Kilcummin while the u9’s are all set for their trip to Dublin this Sunday for the Kilmacud Crokes Tournament. This is a great opportunity for the Black and Amber players to take on their counterparts from around the country. The u11’s train as normal and will be texted re games while Phase 2 of the County League starts this Sunday for the 13’s with a game away to Killarney Legion. The u15’s continued their County League Division 1 campaign with a comfortable win over Ballymac. The Division 9B side defeated Kenmare Shamrocks in their opening game. Bookings are now open for the Kellogs C ul Camp 2022 which will take place in Connolly Park from July 4th to 8th. KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: In the County League Round 6 it finished Kerins O’Rahillys 2-13 to Rathmore’s 2-09. This Saturday they play Kenmare away. In Division 6A Fossa were the winners defeating the B’s 2-13 to 0-11. This Saturday in Round 7 they are also away to Kenmare Shamrocks from 7pm. Last weekend was another great weekend in the Academy and all the young players will be back in action this Sunday. The club is encouraging everyone to get involved in the One Good Club programme. Gaelic4Girls is proving to be a great success. There was a great turn-out for the u12 girls. The Blues went down to Beale and play Ardfert next. The KOR team defeated ISG in Kenmare and play Listowel Emmets next. The 14’s Girls are back in training for the Co. League. The clubs wishes the Kerry 14’s the best of luck in their All Ireland final. The play Cork this Saturday in Parc Ui Rinn at 1pm. It is all systems go for the Girls Feile on June 4th in Mallow where they will participate in Division 3. The u16 Girls went down to Moyvane 4-15 to 3-09. The Minors host Moyvane today, Friday while the Senior women lost out to a strong Glenflesk side 1-18 to 1-08. Lotto –There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 3,4, 24, 31 with the next jackpot being e5,200 PARNELLS NEWS
Well done to the u15 hurlers who defeated Crotta and Ballyduff to win the Kerry Feile nan Gael title. Training for the younger age groups continues and the u9’s enjoying playing in Austin Stack Park at half time in the Kerry Offaly game. In the u14’s camogie the Blue team beat Causeway while the Amber side went down to Cillard. The minor hurlers while depleted ran Ballyheigue to two points 2-11 to 2-09. The Summer Camp will take place from Monday July 18th to 21st for boys and girls ages 5 to 13. TRALEE ROWING CLUB:

He completed the distance over the challenging but beautiful course in 9 hours and 58 minutes. ACTION AT THE KINGDOM GREYHOUND TRACK: Racing takes place on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings each week at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium. On Friday night the semi-finals of the 2022 Lee Strand 550 are the feature races on the night. Racing in this annual A3 event is always exciting and there is great interest to see who will qualify for next Saturday night’s Lee Strand final. Also taking place on Friday night are the first rounds of the Solar Beo A2 Stakes. Saturday night has a 10 race program also with the first race off at 7.46pm. Saturday night’s Final is the RCETS Traceability App A7 Stakes. ON THE GREENS: PITCH & PUTT NEWS: The past week has proved to be a special one for the Tralee Pitch &Putt club as they claimed seven of the ten prizes on offer on Saturday as they hosted the Munster Scotch Foursomes. Paul O’Shea and Keith O’Brien took the win on 98 points which saw them finish four points ahead two other club pairs. A better back nine saw Jamie Blake and Danny O’Leary finish second just ahead of Jason Cregan and Alan Hobbert who claimed the Gross Prize. The first 18 hole prize went to Darren Goodall and Roger Guthrie on 47 points with father and son Jason and Mark O’Regan winning the second nine with 49 points. In the Mixed event the Gross prize went to Lisa O’Connor and Tony Blake while the final prize of the day went to Tralee’s Majella and Brian Moynihan who took the second 18 on 43 points. And there was more good news for six of the players who won prizes in Tralee on Saturday as they were amongst the nine who claimed spots in the Munster Men’s Strokeplay Finals that will take place in Bruff at the end of the month – John McGrath, Alan Hobbart, Chris Gibney, Darren Goodall, Jason O’Regan, Tony Blake, Gavin Carroll, Jason Cregan and Eamon Sheehy. In the Intermediate Grade the qualifiers were Paul O’Shea, James Fleming, Tom O’Connor, Bobby McCarron and Noel Moynihan. Kerry will have eight representatives plus defending champion Damien Fleming at the National Matchplay Finals in Douglas, Cork on the June Bank Holiday weekend. Tralee will be represented by Jason O’Regan, Darren Goodall and Eamon Sheehy in the Men’s competition on Saturday. Finally best of luck to St Brendan’s College, Killarney, who have two teams, and St Michaels Listowel who head to Hillview in Clonmel for the National Finals today Friday.
