Hi I’m Katie, I’m 17 years old and I’m a student in QQI level 3 Introductory Skills Training Class in the National Learning Network College in TRALEE.
Before I came here I was in mainstream secondary school with an SNA. When I was in Transition year I had to start looking at my future. I found mainstream secondary school really difficult, and knew I wouldn’t have been able for the standard leaving certificate.
I decided to explore further and I attended pathway fairs where I discovered the National Learning Network College. The very helpful staff told me and my parents all about the supports the NLN offer, small class sizes, rehabilitation officers, psychologists, learning support teachers, sensory room just to name a few.
I attended an introduction week in the NLN College and I absolutely loved it. I felt that I was included and listened to as the college is very inclusive and I knew this would be the perfect fit for me. I realized that I could get the education that I wanted to progress further and do it at my own pace with the supports that I needed… and this is exactly what I’ve done.
Since I started in the National Learning Network I’ve changed so much. If I was told 12 months ago that I would have had the confidence to travel up to Dublin & Cork to do private courses to become a qualified dog trainer working with search & rescue dogs, assistance dogs and have my own business, I would not have believed it was possible.
I’m also progressing my education privately and begin my Emergency Medical Technician course in September, once I’ve this done I will then progress further into paramedics.
All this has been made possible by coming to the National Learning Network College.
Available at Tralee Education Centre
Starting Tuesday 26th September

This course enables learners to acquire the skills to meet the needs of the older person and to understand the role of the healthcare assistant in promoting a positive attitude to aging and death and dying

Wills away.
A recent High Court case highlighted an issue that might arise for people doing their wills.
Sean has completed his will recently in 2022 replacing and revoking an earlier will. He was not married and had no children, and he was leaving his property to five friends. His earlier will in 2015 left his property to four friends. He then decides that he wants to reinstate the earlier will leaving out one of the friends. He goes to his solicitor with the intention of getting rid of the more recent will and leaving the older one in place. One might think this is logical enough but in fact that is not the way it would work out in practice.
When people make a will the standard clause at the beginning is that I hereby revoke any previous wills heretofore made by me. Therefore, when Sean completes his Will in 2022, he revokes his previous will of 2015. Therefore, if he directs that the 2022 Will is no longer applicable and instructs his solicitor to tear it up, he might think that his previous will now stands. However, this is not the case as remember it has been revoked and in fact there is a risk that now Sean will have no will when he dies, and his

estate will be distributed as if he has no will. If he wants his 2015 Will to comply with the Succession Act, he needs to refresh It and the safest way of doing that is to do a new Will it would be the same as his 2015 Will, but it would be dated up to date and then would be valid and legally sound when he dies. It would be a useful exercise to refresh the will anyway and make sure he has no other changes. Section 87 of the Succession Act 1965 provides that a previously revoked will may only be revived: 1. By the re-execution of that will, or 2. By the execution of a codicil demonstrating an intention to revive the previously revoked will. Without that happening the previous Will is not valid.
It is important to note also that marriage revokes a will, but separation or divorce does not so if a person is married and then divorces it is important that they revise their will otherwise if they left their property in their Will to their spouse and children that would still stand despite the divorce unless a new Will is made.

Tralee Chamber Alliance lead the way in commending the work of An Garda Síochána over the past few days throughout Féile Trá Lí. “It has been one of the most peaceful festivals in recent times with an exceptionally low number of arrests recorded. Members of An Garda Síochána along with working throughout the festival
also participated in family events bringing a smile to many children over the weekend in the daytime activities, showing the importance of a community’s relationship with it’s local law enforcement.
Tralee Garda Station was afforded additional resources for the festival which meant a visible garda presence around the town and
festival locations at all times. It shows the value in having strong Garda numbers in an urban area the size of Tralee does contribute to reduced crime and we strongly urge the Department of Justice and our politicians to highlight this as a priority for the town.”
“Through the See Something Say Something campaign, Tralee
Chamber has a long association with Tralee Gardaí who are currently represented by Inspector Donal Horgan on the Chamber Steering Group. This relationship forms the core of community based projects over the course of each year and is a key part of the current structure of the Chamber. “ Colette

As I was watching the contentants being interviewed for the rose of Tralee , I was intrigued by a discussion with one rose and Kathryn Thomas regarding her job as a dental assistant working in a clinic constructing anti snoring devices or mandibular advancement devices. Both remarked that snoring is one of the leading casues of martial breakdown amongst couples . If you are a snorer and are looking for some advice to alleviate the issue we might have a solution for you! These devices are readily available in Ireland.
Snoring, a common sleep-related issue, can lead to disruptions in sleep quality for both the snorer and their partner. Mandibular advancement appliances (MAAs) have emerged as a promising solution to address this concern. These appliances are designed to reposition the lower jaw and tongue, effectively widening the airway and reducing the vibration that causes snoring.
MAAs are a non-invasive alternative to surgical interventions, such as uvulopalatopharyngoplasty. By comfortably adjusting the jaw's position, these appliances help prevent the collapse of soft tissues that obstruct airflow during sleep, promoting better breathing and reducing snoring episodes.
Recent studies have highlighted the effectiveness of MAAs in mitigating snoring. They are especially recommended for individuals with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) or primary snoring. However, personalized evaluation and fitting by a healthcare professional are essential to ensure proper usage and maximum benefit.
In conclusion, mandibular advancement appliances offer a promising and accessible approach to alleviate snoring and enhance sleep quality. As research continues to refine their design and understanding, they stand as a valuable tool in the realm of sleep medicine.
The pulling together of Tralee and launching Tralee Streetfest , Féile Thra Lí, literally only 8 weeks before the Rose of Tralee was a huge feat in itself ...the fact that it was an astounding success gives huge kudos to the people and organisations behind it. Tralee was

TRUMP AND HIS FAMILY ARE TRAVELLING IN A PLANE.
Trump decides to drop a 100 dollar note from the plane. His wife asks what he is doing. His reply is “I want to make an American happy”
His wife replies back “Why don’t you drop ten 10 dollar notes and make ten Americans happy?” Their daughter gives a suggestion “Why don’t you drop hundred 1 dollar notes and make hundred Americans happy?”
The pilot overhears their conversation and gives his own suggestion on the matter. and says to Trump
“Why don’t you drop yourself from the plane and make all Americans happy?”
James jumps up, “Adopted! I knew it! I want to meet my biological parents!” Father laughs, “No no, James, we are your biological parents. But you need to get packing, your adoptive ones will be here in an hour.”
SAYS The doctor says, “Larry, everything looks great. How are you doing mentally and emotionally? Are you at peace with God?”
Larry replies, “God and I are tight. He knows I have poor eyesight, so He’s fixed it so when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, poof! The light goes on. When I’m done, poof! The light goes off.”
“Wow, that’s incredible,” the doctor says. A little later in the day, the doctor calls Larry’s wife. “Bonnie,” he says, “Larry is doing fine! But I had to call you because I’m in awe of his relationship with God. Is it true that he gets up during the night, and poof, the light goes on in the bathroom, and when he’s done, poof, the light goes off?”
“Oh, no,” exclaims Bonnie. “He’s peeing in the refrigerator again!”
Conversation begins and the two hit it off. The blonde eventually asks the man when his birthday is.
“March 1st,” the man replies. Suddenly, the blonde gets up and stomps around the bar before coming back to her seat.
“So when is your birthday?” the woman again asks. Not being too phased by this odd behavior, the man again answers “March 1st.” Again, the blonde woman stomps around the bar, this time louder and longer.
When back at her seat, she angrily demands, “Are you going to tell me your birthday, or are you just going to keep telling me to march around the damn bar again?
