READ LAURE & STEPH'S JOURNEY ON THIS FOCUS COURSE
Laure says:
“Discovering the Focus course at the National Learning Network in Tralee was a transformative moment in my life, thanks to the insightful suggestion of RO Nora. Initially, I hadn't considered it, as I was completing another course and struggling with low confidence, uncertain about my future. However, after meeting Geoff and conversing with Focus course alumni, I decided to take the leap. My first day was nerve-wracking, leading me to arrive late—a rarity for me. I had to muster the courage to enter that classroom, setting the stage for a whirlwind of meeting new faces and preparing for the journey ahead. Looking back, this challenging path stands as one of the best decisions I've ever made, even though it's been about three years since I completed the course.
The Focus course empowered me in numerous ways:
1. Self-Discovery: Before embarking on this journey, I believed I knew myself, but it was during the course that I truly examined who I am and what I desire. I had spent my life conforming to others' expectations, but the course helped me find my voice and establish healthy boundaries.
2. Unique Experiences: The course provided opportunities to explore places I wouldn't have ventured to alone, such as Blackrock Observatory and St. John's Castle.
3. Overcoming Challenges: Even when the world faced a pandemic, the support of the Focus group, both online and offline, helped me navigate the uncertainty. It equipped me with tools to reemerge into a changed world.
While there's much more to share about the Focus course, I encourage you to experience it firsthand. I am living proof that this course can change lives, and I am immensely grateful for the journey and the people who shared it with me. The lessons I learned continue to guide me daily. If you're feeling stuck and aspire to transform your life, I wholeheartedly recommend the Focus course. Approach it with an open mind, give your best, and extend kindness to yourself and others. It's a journey worth taking.
Steph says:
This FOCUS course opened up so many doors for me that i didn't think possible ! It helped me find friends that I will never forget . And equipped me with life skills in so many areas . Yes, the year was challenging , but also fun & relaxed. I am now in full employment and use the skills I learned daily for my mental health"

Donor organ recipient Billy Ryle appeals to people to carry a donor organ card
Despite the sweltering heat, there was a buzz of anticipation at the launch of Billy Ryle’s new Book, “Donor Organ Transplants or Blind for the football,” at Tralee Library on Thursday night. Kerry O’Shea was a brilliant Master of Ceremonies. Guest of Honour, Senator Martin Conway, who spoke without notes because of his visual impairment, gave an outstanding address. His contribution was inspiring. His success in life, he said, is built on his positive attitude and determination to overcome difficulties caused by his restricted sight. His commitment to improving services, education facilities and employment opportunities for the blind, visually impaired and the disabled, in general, came across as sincere and passionate.
Book Author, Billy Ryle thanked everybody who attended. Even Billy’s former teaching colleague, Minister Norma Foley, dropped in
to wish Billy success with the Book. Billy appealed to people to carry a donor organ card. He has always done so, but he never thought he’d need a corneal organ donation in each eye from two different donors. The two donors passed on the gift of sight to him. He said he would always remember them in his thoughts and prayers. Billy added that there is an acute need for donated organs to save lives or considerably improve the lives of organ recipients like himself. Billy thanked County Librarian, Tommy O Connor and his staff who hosted the event and provided refreshments. He thanked his friends Paddy & Phil Kissane, Emer Hardiman and Carmel Quilter O’Neill whose assistance was invaluable and, as always, the affable Adrienne McLoughlin, who took an array of beautiful photographs.
The book is now on sale on www.amazon.de . Begin by typing
www.amazon.de and type “Billy Ryle” into the search box. Click on the book cover. Then follow the user-friendly purchase steps. The book is also available to purchase at Paudie Commane Book Shop, Rock
St., Tralee and Polymath Bookstore, Courthouse Lane, Tralee.Net profit from book sales in 2023 will be donated to the National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI).

THE JUDGE
A judge was interviewing a woman regarding her pending divorce, and asked, “What are the grounds for your divorce?” She replied, “About four acres and a nice little home in the middle of the property with a stream running by”. “No” he said, “I mean what is the foundation of this case?”. “It is made of concrete, brick and mortar”, she responded. “I mean” he continued, “What are your relations like?”. “I have an aunt and uncle living here in town, and so do my husband’s parents”. He said, “Do you have a real grudge?” “No,” she replied, “We have a two-car carport and have never really needed one”. “Please,” he tried again, “Ma’am, does your husband ever beat you up?”. “Yes,” she responded, “about twice a week he gets up earlier than I do”. Finally, in frustration, the judge asked, “Lady, why do you want a divorce?” “Oh, I don’t want a divorce” she replied. “I’ve never wanted a divorce. My husband does. He said he can’t communicate with me!”

Smiling she said “ah I really do love you but what does the I, J, K, stand for?”. He said “I’m Just Kidding!”
