I recently availed of the Tribella offer and I am getting so many compliments on my skin. Can I pay for another treatment at the special offer rate and use it in November? Also, I heard you say it keeps working after your treatment but for how long? Nuala.

Hi Nuala,

I am delighted you were pleased with your results and yes, you can pay for the October offer now and use at a later date no problem. The response to the offer has been phenomenal and the results people are getting are note worthy. Male clients are also availing of the Tribella offer and are enjoying the privacy that the CHRC at the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee offers.

We recommend three Tribella treatments with at least four weeks apart. You can return with the change of the seasons or if you feel like you need a top up session when you have a special occasion coming up. In terms of final results, the Tribella treatment will keep working for up to six months after your final Tribella treatment and then it is just maintenance. Our clients are seeing a huge difference with the appearance of their fine lines and wrinkles as they are not as deep and noticeable. Pigmentation reduction and redness is also reduced and the skin appears much clearer and younger-looking. The skin tightening is leaving people with more defined features, especially the jaw line and cheek bones. Our clients with no major skin issues are delighted with the overall skin rejuvenation results and look so much more radiant and refreshed.

Scoil Eoin Christmas Shoebox Appeal ...the best yet!

The Scoil Eoin community of pupils, parents and friends are renowned for their generosity, but this year’s collection of Christmas Shoeboxes for Team Hope has surpassed all previous years.

"In total we collected 380 boxes bursting at the seams with gifts. " says Carol Anne

"This is an annual event here in Scoil Eoin. The interest of our pupils in the drive never wanes. Our Student Council members along with their coordinator Mrs. Carol Anne O’Donoghue and S.N.A. Grace Hobbert organised this amazing appeal in aid of Team Hope."

Team Hope is a charity that works to help children affected by poverty in Eastern Europe and Africa. Every year thousands of gift filled shoeboxes are sent from Ireland. It is very appealing to young children when they realise that their carefully selected items will be given directly to a child in need.

MaryTeam Hope Representatives Brigid and Paddy Hegarty from Listowel collected all of the boxes from Scoil Eoin. They had to make a few trips with the sheer volume of boxes.

"Thanks to all involved. We are looking forward to next year already."

Tralee Greenway Raises All Boats

It’s been a long time coming but the Tralee to Fenit Greenway is finally open to the public!

The much anticipated walkway and bicycle path, a boon for local tourism, runs along the old disused railway line with its entrance located directly across the road from Casement Station on Edward Street, and continues out for 11.3km, all the way to Fenit Harbour. Mike O Neil, owner of Mike’s Café in Fenit, says the locals are very optimistic about the development and excited at what the Greenway will bring to their picturesque fishing village nestled to the east of Tralee Bay.

“It’s great for the whole community. The Greenway will definitely extend our season,” Mike said. “It offers all sorts of opportunities for school trips and bike tours throughout Autumn and we are planning construction work on the café this winter so we can open up afresh in April.”

The County Council have carried out extensive work on the existing car par next to the playground to accommodate the expected high volume of bikes and visitors. And if you don’t own a bike, not to worry. The Greenway is kickstarting a slew of new bike-hire business around the town! Just Google bike-hire Tralee.

A COP PULLED A CAR OVER FOR SPEEDING

When the Cop asked the driver why he was traveling 95mph, the driver answered that he was a juggler on his way to do a show for a birthday party and didn’t want to be late. The Cop told the driver he was fascinated by juggling, and if the driver would do a little juggling for him that he wouldn’t give him a ticket. The driver told the Cop that he had sent all of his equipment on ahead and didn’t have anything to juggle. The Cop told him that he had some flares in the trunk of his patrol car, and asked if he could juggle them. The juggler stated that he could, so the Cop got three flares, lit them and handed them to the juggler. While the man was doing his juggling act, a car pulled in behind the patrol car. A drunk got out, watched the performance briefly, went over to the patrol car, opened the rear door and got in. The Cop observed him doing this, and went over to the patrol car, opened the door and asked the drunk what he thought he was doing. The drunk replied, “You might as well haul my butt to jail, cause there’s NO way I’ll pass that test.”

FIFTY DOLLARS

Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, “Esther, I’d like to ride in that helicopter”.

Esther always replied, “I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is 50 dollars -- and 50 dollars is 50 dollars”.

One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said, “Esther, I’m 85 years old. If I don’t ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance.”

Esther replied, “Morris that helicopter is 50 dollars -- and 50 dollars is 50 dollars”. The pilot overheard the couple and said, “Folks I’ll make you a deal. I’ll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word I won’t charge you! But if you say one word, it’s 50 dollars.” Morris and Esther agreed and up they went. The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuvers, but not a word was heard. He did his daredevil tricks over and over again, but still not a word. When they landed, the pilot turned to Morris and said, “By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn’t. I’m impressed!”

Morris replied, “Well, to tell you the truth, I almost said something when Esther fell out, but you know -- 50 dollars is 50 dollars.”

WE’RE GOING TO THE ZOO!

A gorilla dies of old age at a zoo right before the zoo opens. It is the only gorilla at the zoo since they are not very profitable. However, the gorilla is their most popular attraction by far, and they cannot afford to go a day without it. So the zoo owner asks one of his workers to wear a gorilla suit they have in storage for an extra $100 a day if he will go in the gorilla cage and pretend to be the gorilla until the zoo can afford a new one.

Quickly, the new “gorilla” becomes the most popular craze at the zoo. People from all over are coming to see the “Human-like” gorilla.

About a month in, the craze has started to wear off. So, to get peoples’ attention back, he decides to climb over his enclosure and hang from the net ceiling above the lions den next to him. A large crowd of people gather watching the spectacle in awe and terror. Suddenly the man loses his grip and falls to the floor of the lion’s den. The man starts screaming “HELP!! HELP!!!” Suddenly a lion pounces him from behind and whispers in his ear, “Shut the heck up right now or you’re going to get us both fired.”

GoFundMe for St Brendans Juniors!

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise funds for St Brendans Hurling Club, in Ardfert .

“Our Juniors have had an amazing year (so far!), they went undefeated in both the county league and county championship, winning both respectively. The club and the parish are so proud of them, well done to the team and management for their successes and best wishes for their continued success….We would really appreciate your help so we can prepare as best we can to get our boys over the line.” said a spokesperson for the club

Warriors second best in the West

For the second season in a row Garvey’s Tralee Warriors came away from the Kingfisher Arena in Galway on the wrong side of the score line as University of Galway Maree produced a performance of real quality to seal a 90-64

win on Saturday night. The defending champions never got into stride and were chasing the game from a long way out against the impressive Galway outfit.

The Warriors showed some late resilience to cut the Maree

advantage back to single figures again in the fourth but Cathal Finn delivered the final blow with a three close to the buzzer to seal a fully deserved 90-64 win in the end.

It is back to the drawing board this week for the

Warriors as they face joint South Conference leaders Energywise Ireland Neptune in Neptune Stadium, a team desperate to take Warriors to task after losing both the Cup and League to them in the respective finals last season.

New Book Catalogues Tragedy and Suffering Of Civil War In Kerry

The violence and divisions of the Civil War in County Kerry were more vicious, bitter and prolonged than anywhere else in Ireland.

For generations, the fratricide, murder and executions, and the widespread trauma in Kerry have been synonymous with the worst excesses of the brutality and mayhem which followed the split over the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1921. In a newly published analysis of the conflict in his native county, historian and author, Owen O’Shea offers new insights into the misery and mayhem of 1922-23, from the perspectives not only of the combatants who were involved in the fighting but also their families

and the wider civilian population.

No Middle Path: the Civil War in Kerry, which has just been published by Merrion Press, offers an engrossing account of the terrible events in Kerry and of some of the darkest days in Irish history as well as their shocking and enduring legacy. It will be launched by former minister, Jimmy Deenihan, Thursday evening, 20 October at Tralee library at 6.00pm.

Based on newly researched archive accounts and testimonies, the immense trauma, hardship, poverty, ill-health and psychological scars of the families of those killed and injured is explored for the first time.

‘For generations, the Civil War went unspoken in Kerry, a county in which over 170 people were killed in combat, executions or accidents. Incidents like Knocknagoshel, Clashmealcon, Countess Bridge, and Ballyseedy are perhaps wellknown, but what is less-known is the incredible trauma and psychological damage done, which endured for decades.

‘Thanks to the publication in recent years of many new first-hand accounts of the war as well as the testimonies of those who suffered appalling ill health and misery in the years which followed, we can begin to revisit and re-evaluate this traumatic time in our county’s

history,’ he said.

Also presented in the new book is a catalogue of the intimidation, destruction, crime and lawlessness which severely affected civilians who had no involvement in the war but suffered greatly, sometimes losing their lives.

‘Because this history is so difficult for many people, including the descendants of those involved, I was conscious of resurrecting traumatic times. But if we are to understand why the Civil War in Kerry has left such a scar on the county, we must listen to, and more importantly, hear, the accounts of those on all sides of the conflict. I hope that this book will

contribute to greater understanding of the war in a county where divisions ran deeper than most, particularly during this centenary period,’ said Owen.

No Middle Path: The Civil War in Kerry is published in hardback by Merrion Press and will be available in bookshops next week, priced €19.99. It is now available to order online also. The book will be launched on Thursday, 20th October 2022 at Tralee Library at 6.00pm by the President of the Kerry Archaeological and Historical Society and former minister, Jimmy Deenihan.

PRAYER TO MOUNT CARMEL

O Most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein You are my Mother. O show me herein You are my Mother. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee. (3 times) Sweet Mother,

Just what is Neuromuscular Therapy?

Neuromuscular Therapy offers a special focus on chronic pain and injury including musculoskeletal injuries related to physical activity. Typically NMT’s will treat the type of everyday pain and injury many people experience at some stage of their lives such as back ache, restricted range of motion, chronic (long term) pain and muscular discomfort.

The hands on treatment uses techniques which are built upon a science-based foundation, guided by clinical evidence and are often successful in reducing or eliminating even longstanding painful conditions.

NMT assessments & examinations primarily address :

• Myofascial trigger points (hypersensitive points within muscles)

• Neural entrapment / compression (pressure on

nerves by muscles, discs, cartilage)

• Postural assessment (assess the position of the body as a whole)

• Dysfunction gait patterns (manner of movement when walking)

KP Therapy specialise in NMT and are achieving remarkable results with some of their extreme case studies .

Run by Kevin and Kieran , both qualified Neuromuscular Therapists , they are based at the Brandon Hotel Leisure Centre in Tralee .

They also offer Deep Tissue Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Post-Natal Massage, Sports Massage, FSM, Taping & Strapping, Injury Rehab & Pilates as well as Events / Pitchside Services. Watch out for their advert which regularly appears in The Tralee Advertiser .
