(Chris Shortt , Editor , The Tralee Advertiser) Tommy, you seem to really like what you are doing , would I be right ? I love to sell, rent & manage property and bring approx. 14 years experience with me, back home to Kerry. I am focused on servicing my hometown of Tralee, Ardfert ,where I live and North Kerry, given my family connections. So what should the typical property customer expect from you ? As a client you can be guaranteed to be appreciated, received regular updates,
have access to an online bidding portal if required. Your property will receive excellent exposure and I will take the time to outline the entire sales or letting process to you in a jargon-free manner before going live, I will share my tips & tricks to ensure your target market is reached and more importantly ensure your target market fall in love with your property. And who would be a typical customer in your business ? “If you are looking to sell your home, downsize, upsize, rent your property, need management of your property or are simply a little daunted by the sales or letting process and want advice, then we are here for you” You have returned to Kerry with a young family after much experience in the big city ...was
this always the plan ? “It was always my intention to return home from Dublin to set up my own Estate Agency Practice. It took a little longer than planned but I was adamant of gaining the necessary and most varied experience before doing so. I achieved this and I am ready to look after any property requirements that anyone may have here in Kerry . At the end of the sales or lettings process we are confident that you, as a valued client, will say to yourself…’That was easy! And whats your tag line ? your ‘brand recognition statement ‘ its called ...you know, all successful business have one ...Nike ...Just do it , McDonalds ...i’m lovin’ it , The Aquadome ...Let yourself go! Ramblers to walk for the Night Nurses!
This special campaign has been set up by Antoinette O’Mahony on behalf of the Bogha Báistí Ramblers from Tralee, Co.Kerry. The Ramblers are planning a 5k walk/ jog/run your way/in pods on Thursday 1st July at 7p.m. The Ramblers are a group of friends who lost their dear and funny friend Chris O’Shea to Breast Cancer in May 2020. Chris was very impressed and empathic with the Night Nurses service. Night Nurses provide end of life care for cancer patients and their families in their own home free of charge and provide support to individuals and loved ones during what can be a difficult and anxious time. Chris, selfless to the bitter end, expressed a wish that her walking buddies fundraise for the Night Nurses service. They have set up this GoFundMe page in her memory and hope that the wider community can support them by donating and even joining them on their ramble. https://www.gofundme.com/f/friends-of-chris-oshea-for-night-nurses Friday 18th June 2021

HELLO YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! This week I am going to talk about not caring what other people think.
NOT CARING One of the biggest things that holds us back in life is putting too much weight in other people's opinions. We worry about the hypothetical thoughts of hypothetical people more than our own sometimes, which is detrimental to our happiness. We worry about what people will think of us based on what we choose to do, how we present ourselves to the world, what we post online, everything. Of course, as someone who frankly doesn't give too much mind to the opinions of others, it would be easy for me to say 'just stop caring', but I am well aware that it is not that easy and I empathise with that. What I can say though is this... ask yourself why you care, like really why. Are the people strangers, peers, acquaintances? If the answer is yes, ask yourself... is their hypothetical opinion more important than my happiness? why do I want to please these people when they are not important people in my life? Sometimes, we are so on auto pilot with our life, and how we do things, that we forget to stop and ask ourselves these questions. When we start questioning ourselves that is when growth happens. Think about the person you would be if you did everything you were too afraid to do because you thought others would judge you. Think about how good you would feel to be exactly who you wanted to be. How would your life change? Now, the next time you base a decision on the opinions of others, remember that feeling. Ask yourself is it really worth sacrificing who I want to be to not get judged? Here's a secret, most of the people judging you are actually projecting their insecurities onto you. It'd not about you, it's about them and how they see themselves. 99.9% of the time it is never actually about you. So remind yourself of that, re-shape your mindset. Start with little things that 'the old you' wouldn't have done, conquer them, build the momentum and keep going.

New Carvery and Hot/Cold Deli as MJ’s expands MJ’s Diner in Clash are looking forward to July 5th and the indoor dining that it brings . Why ? because MJ’S has not only added a Hot & Cold Deli Counter but an All Day Carvery Lunch . “Yes we have expanded our space and we look forward to welcoming customers indoors in early July “ says Fergal Kirby , Manager of MJ’s . But already our call and collect service is proving very popular with everyone . “ Its the exact same Carvery and Deli servings that we have available in the Brogue “ say Kevin Cotter , owner
of MJ’s and the Brogue in Rock st. New jobs have been created with this expansion and substantial works , both interior and exterior have also been carried out at the Brogue .”Our hot carvery serves from 12pm til 7pm daily with our Cold Deli operating from 9am “ says Fergal “and we look forward to having Evening Specials available shortly “ Of course all this delicious food can be ordered through the MJ’s mobile App (go to Playstore or MJ’s website to download ). “Its a simple and very flexible app” says
Kevin . Even if you want extra cheese or more onions on your Burger , it can all be done through the app ..and we dont charge for extras like that “ says Fergal with a smile .And delivery operates each day from 5.30pm to 9.30pm .I reckon we have over 20 types of Burgers available and all can be ordered ‘Gluten free ‘ as we source all our meat from Matt the Butcher in Rock street “ . New coffee has also been introduced . “its the same brand ‘Koffy ‘ that we serve in the Brogue” says Kevin . And there is no need to wait til
July 5th as the lovely outdoor seating area was full when the Tralee Advertiser called to take a few photos during the week . “ Yes we are expanding and improving our outdoor area even more over the coming weeks to make it even more comfortable over the summer months “ says Fergal ... So why not give the new Carvery and Deli at MJ’s a try ...its definitely going to be worth it !
Over 140 Degree Courses at Munster Technological University! With the establishment of Munster Technological University (MTU), there has never been a more exciting time to study in Cork and Kerry. With 6 campuses across the south-west region, 140+ degree courses and a student body of more than 18,000, making the decision to succeed at MTU has never been easier. Courses offered at MTU cover a diverse range of disciplines including Business, Marketing, Accounting, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Tourism, Sports & Leisure, Social Sciences & Education, Engineering, Biological, Physical & Pharmaceutical Sciences and many more! A thriving student experience also exists at MTU with 100+ clubs and societies to join locally and global study opportunities with over 120 leading colleges having links to the University. Commenting on the range of courses, Dr Brendan O’Donnell, Kerry Campus Vice President Academic Affairs and Registrar said, “Our new university prides itself on Friday 18th June 2021
the quality and relevance of its academic programmes and our continuous course development. Each of our courses is developed in close consultation with industry, resulting in relevant and career-focused qualifications for graduates.” MTU ensures that students are at the core of its activities with a dedicated team of student support services. An integral part of the many programmes on offer for CAO applicants is work placement and industry projects, which allow students to experience authentic work scenarios. This experience results in work-ready graduates with over 90% of our honours degree graduates securing work or pursuing further education opportunities such as Master or PhD studies within six months of graduating. Dr Áine Ní Shé, Cork Campus Vice-President Academic Affairs and Registrar outlined that the work-placement element of all Honours Degree courses, coupled with the globally recognised
qualification from a university, provides students with an excellent opportunity as they consider their CAO applications ahead of the Change of Mind facility closing on July 1st, 2021. President of Munster Technological University, Professor Maggie Cusack looks forward to welcoming the first students that will register with MTU since its establishment on January 1st, 2021 “The creation of MTU marked the culmination of many years of planning, preparation and hard work. MTU’s mission is to lead change and, through education, empower people for a successful future in a globalised world. I look forward to welcoming our new students in September as the first

‘Help Rose Bloom’ Campaign A group of family, friends and local community members have organised a fundraising campaign on behalf of Rose O Flaherty, Ballymacelligot, Tralee, Co Kerry. This is Rose’s plight in her own words: “Mommy, when will I be able to hold your hand to walk to school?” Rose is only 4 years old and was diagnosed with a rare and serious genetic neuromuscular condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Type 1, when she was 9 months old. SMA 1 children typically have a life expectancy of 2 years. Currently, there is no cure for SMA. However, there are treatments available to help manage symptoms, reduce discomfort, and maintain Friday 18th June 2021
quality of life for as long as possible. Rose is a gorgeous determined girl who is defying medical odds. She has already learned to stand with aid for 10-15 seconds thanks to intensive ongoing physiotherapy. However, extremely difficult and heart-breaking questions such as “Mommy, when will I be able to hold your hand to walk to school?” and “Mommy, why can’t I play like the other kids?” are now common questions for Rose. After turning 4 recently, she said “Mommy, I don’t want to be 4, I want to be a baby forever because I can’t walk”. This is Rose’s very sad reality, but highly indicative of the level of awareness that Rose already
has in her brilliant and clever mind. Her parents dream that one day Rose will walk (aided) and be able to do the simple things that we take for granted like, being able to move from a lying to a sitting position. There is a treatment plan for Rose involving intensive therapies, many surgeries and specialist equipment but financial support is crucial. Organisers of the ‘Help Rose Bloom’ campaign have created a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for Rose and her family and hope to raise €250,000 through the campaign. They are also organising some novel fundraising events during the month of July.Anyone interested in finding out more or supporting the campaign

Government ‘priority ‘ commitment could see Kerry Dublin flights resume by Mid-July Education Minister and Fianna Fáil TD for Kerry Norma Foley has welcomed the Cabinet commitment to make the Kerry Dublin PSO route a priority. The Department of Transport is currently examining the implications of last weekends announcement by Stobart Air and the cancellation of the Government-funded PSO routes which operate between Kerry and Dublin. Transport Minister Eamon Ryan confirmed his intention to seek a replacement to the PSO service linking Dublin and Kerry on an emergency basis as provided in EU law, subject to a maximum term of seven months.Department
of Transport officials will also shortly launch a procurement process for a maximum of four years that will continue the provision of the service after the temporary contract has expired. There has already been significant interest from potential carriers in the route and these options will be fully examined.Every effort will be made to ensure a new operator can be selected and in place by mid-end July.Minister Foley said: “The restoration of our regional connectivity is of critical importance to the people of Kerry. Transport Minister Eamon Ryan confirmed to me his intentions to seek an expedited tendering
process which aims to have a replacement carrier in place by mid-end of July. “I am confident Government will continue to engage as a priority with relevant
stakeholders until a suitable resolution is reached for the benefit of Kerry and the southwest region.”
This year the Kerry Hospice Foundation wanted to mark sunflower Day in some small
way while remembering so many.
Kerry Hospice Sunflower Day Today is our Annual Sunflower Day I 2th June and at this time of the year ou volunteers can be seen around the streets of Kerry selling sunflowers. Our lai sunflower day in 2019 raised in excess of€40,000 in Kerry. As always all funds raised in Kerry stays in Kerry. This year due to COVID restrictions we decided to mark sunflower day in a different way by setting up our virtual sunflower garden on the ground of the Patient Unit. We have received some lovely messages in memory ofloved
o and also many messages in support of the wonderful staff of the In-Patient Gru Day Care Unit and the Home Care Team. A sunflower has been placed in ili garden to remember loved ones, staff members, and people who are sick at th moment. Kerry Hospice would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for the support over the last number of years especially the last year which has been very difficult for many charities.

and Wellbeing Fest aims to create awareness of, and schedule events that empower people to engage with the Five Ways to Wellbeing – Connect | Give | Take Notice | Keep Learning | Be Active – as well as raising awareness of the available supports and services in the county. The Fest has a wide reach across Kerry and we want to continue to build on its success in 2021. But we can’t do this without you! We are inviting anyone who is interested in helping us achieve our goal, by hosting an event/s during #KerryMHWFest, to register online as soon as possible.” To register your interest to host an event for the 2021

20 KEEP YOUR BUSINESS IN TRALEE AND KEEP TRALEE IN BUSINESS!
HELLo everyone! & welcome back to this brand new weekly column, 'Create with Rebecca', a page where I will be talking ALL things social media! (yaaaaaaay!). This column will be especially helpful for those in business looking to navigate the world pf social media for their business. I will be simplifying EVERYTHING as well as giving my top tips. Oh, by the way... I can edit videos, advise you on social media & create a new vibe for your brand! (Aka video editor, social media consultant & graphic designer) - so I know what I'm talking about!
WHAT IS TIKTOK? DO I NEED TO USE IT? Ah TikTok... my favourite app. Yup I said it. I think this is because it is one of the most fun, authentic and engaging platforms in 2021. Of course it 100% depends on the user as the algorithm is completely tailored to the user, which is why the more you use it, the more you love it. So... as a social media user / business, do you need TikTok? Of course no, you don't need anything. But... TikTok is popular right now, a lot of people are spending A LOT of time on the app. Small businesses can go viral with one post, and you can reach people worldwide. Of course, this can happen on any other social media, but... the organic exposure that you can get on TikTok, that's rare. The biggest complaint from my clients when I mention TikTok are that they don't 'get' it. While I understand what they mean. that's more or less the same with most new things in life. You have to spend a little time using the app before you fully 'get' it. Trust me, commit to spending 10 minutes a day on TikTok for a week, soon enough you will know exactly how people use it, and not only that but how people in your industry use it! Trust me, there is space for everyone and everyone business on TikTok, you just have to put your personal / brand's spin on it. TikTok is not just for the younger generation, although they might be able to help you when it comes to using it.
Is it slightly overwhelming to think of navigating TikTok? Do you not even know where to begin? Well... that's where the professionals come in. You can hop on a 1 hour call with me and I can coach you to become your own in house social media manager.... or you can hire me to do it! If you want to discuss this more contact me at rebecca.shortt94@gmail.com with the subject line 'SOCIAL MEDIA'. -
I hope you are as excited as I am for this new weekly Social Media column! I am excited to help you all become social media savvy and to learn tips and tricks along the way. For more information on what I do or if you are interested in any of my social media service: I offer 1:1 consultation calls, video editing, graphic design and more, you can follow @create.socialmedia on instagram or email me: rebecca.shortt94@gmail.com to book a call!

Fancy a glass of Champagne?
While there are many sparkling wine regions around the globe, only Champagne from the Champagne appellation in France can be labelled as such. Champagne has long been the wine of choice to celebrate special occasions, and its reputation as a luxury beverage has been intact since the Romans established vineyards in Reims in the 5th century (that's a really long time ago). Benoit Cocteaux demi-sec Yellow in colour, fine mousse at the start, lots of ripe fruits * You will only find it in Carry Out in Tralee (Horans & Oakpark)

SsangYong has announced plans to enter the mid-size all-electric SUV market with a model that would take on the likes of the Skoda Enyaq and Volkswagen ID.4 with a smaller price tag. Codenamed J100, the new car has been pictured in teaser images with a view to launching it in 2022. No technical specifications for the car have been announced, though in 2018, SsangYong revealed plans for a purpose made pure-electric SUV platform suitable for C and D segment SUV models, the same size as has now been hinted at for the J100. The brand’s financial position has shifted considerably since plans for the EV platform were made public. SsangYong entered receivership in late 2020, and with the first vehicle slated for launch on the new platform for 2024, we’re unsure if the J100 will use a dedicated EV architecture or an adapted internal combustion engine platform, like the new Korando e-Motion. A selection of teaser images have been released to preview the vehicle, which appears to be designed as a rugged looking electric SUV with off-road intent. The model’s design incorporates plenty of more traditional SUV cues, such as the squared-off grille with wide horizontal slats, and tough-looking cladding and bash plates, plus the spare wheel cover on the tailgate. It looks quite unlike anything in the current SsangYong line-up. In terms of size, the brand defines the J100 as a larger mid-size SUV, though it will be smaller than the Rexton. SsangYong has also confirmed that it is developing an all-electric pick-up truck, but has not confirmed if this will be a derivative of the new J100.
NEW PORSCHE 911 GT3 TOURING TONES DOWN THE STYLING
Porsche has unveiled a new Touring Pack for the recently launched 911 GT3, adding a few cosmetic changes and a slightly more plush interior.Interestingly, the Touring Package is exactly the same price as the standard Porsche 911 GT3 at £127,820, but that’s only because it does without that car’s fixed rear wing. The 992-generation GT3 is also the latest model in a long line of focused 911s to feature this comfort-biased option, which dates back to the 1973 Porsche Carrera RS.Tweaks over the standard track-bred 911 GT3 include some silver trim strips for the window surrounds, new silver exhaust outlets and a new ‘GT3 Touring’ badge for the engine cover. The standard LED headlamps are also swapped for smoked units.Inside, there’s some leather upholstery for the steering wheel, gear lever, centre console and door handles in place of the usual (albeit high quality) plastic, and the Alcantara trim. The seats are trimmed in a blend of black leather and fabric, while the roof gets a new black headliner. The fascia and the upper half of the door cards are also decorated with unique embossing, while the headrests are embroidered with the Porsche crest. The cabin makeover is completed with some brushed black aluminium trim for the dashboard and treadplates.Every 911 GT3 buyer who specs the Touring Package will also get a chronograph watch to match their car. It has luminous yellow hands which mimic the colour of the rev counter needle, while the strap is made from the same leather used on the car’s seats.Like the standard 911 GT3, buyers get an aggressive body kit, carbon fibre reinforced plastic panels, thinner window glass and lightweight forged alloy wheels. However, the standard GT3’s motorsport-inspired swan-neck fixed rear wing has been removed, replaced by an active spoiler.Touring Package cars can be specified with a host of optional equipment, too. Upgrades include dynamic LED headlights, carbon-ceramic brakes, an analogue laptimer, 18-way electrically adjustable seats and an improved stereo. The Touring is powered by the same naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine, which produces 503bhp and 470Nm of torque. The unit sends drive to the rear wheels and, unlike the old model, buyers can choose from either a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic gearbox. If you can shift gear fast enough, the manual 911 GT3 will get from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds. This sprint is trimmed back to 3.4 seconds when fitted with the dual-clutch unit, despite the gearbox taking the car’s kerbweight from 1,418kg to 1,435kg. Top speed is 198mph with the auto and 199mph with the manual.
PAY FOR PARKING FROM YOUR CAR WITH BMW’S NEW RINGGO APP INTEGRATION
BMW has teamed up with RingGo to launch a new integrated park and pay application for the iDrive system, available for download in around 150,000 BMWs on British roads today. The app is available on BMW models running an iDrive 7 infotainment system or newer, and allows drivers to pay for parking via the car’s infotainment screen, without the need for an extra smartphone app or cash. Those with the RingGo app will no longer need to use payment machines and automated phone payment services. Where paying for parking via the RingGo service is accepted, they’ll be able to do so directly via the car’s infotainment display. The new RingGo payment app will be automatically installed with an over-theair update on every BMW built after July 2018 iDrive Operating System version 7 or later.Chris Hollis, ConnectedDrive & Technologies Product Manager at BMW said: “We are delighted to have worked closely with RingGo to give our customers an intuitive, helpful experience that brings all of their parking needs together in one place.”Peter O’Driscoll, UK Managing Director for RingGo, said: “This partnership with BMW has truly been a joint venture with motorists at the heart of the solution. “It is another demonstration of the rapid evolution of integrated motoring, parking and mobility services.” Friday 18th June 2021

LAUGHTER ....THE BEST MEDICINE !
A FORMER SERGEANT IN THE MARINE CORPS TOOK A NEW JOB AS A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER.
Just before the school year started, he injured his back. He was required to wear a plaster cast around the upper part of his body. Fortunately, the cast fit under his shirt and wasn’t noticeable. On the first day of class, he found himself assigned to the toughest students in the school. The smart punks, having already heard the new teacher was a former Marine, were leery of him and he knew they would be testing his discipline in the classroom. Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, the new teacher opened the window wide and sat down at his desk. When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he picked up a stapler and stapled the tie to his chest. There was dead silence… the rest of the year went quite smoothly.
KICK LIKE A MULE
A newlywed farmer and his wife were visited by her mother, who immediately demanded an inspection of the place. While they were walking through the barn, the farmer’s mule suddenly reared up and kicked the mother-in-law, unfortunately killing her instantly. At the funeral service, the farmer stood near the casket and greeted folks as they walked by. The pastor noticed that whenever a woman would whisper something to the farmer, he would nod his head “yes” and say something. Whenever a man walked by and whispered to the farmer, he would shake his head “no” and mumble a reply. Curious, the pastor later asked the farmer what that was all about. The farmer replied, “The women would say, ‘What a terrible tragedy,’ and I would nod my head and say, ‘Yes, it was.’ The men would ask, ‘You wanna sell that mule?’ and I would shake my head and say, ‘Can’t. It’s all booked up for a year.’”

A CRUSTY OLD MAN WALKS INTO THE LOCAL LUTHERAN CHURCH AND SAYS TO THE SECRETARY, “I WOULD LIKE TO JOIN THIS DAMN CHURCH.”
The astonished woman replies, “I beg your pardon, sir. I must have misunderstood you. What did you say?” “Listen up, damn it. I said I want to join this damn church!” “I’m very sorry sir, but that kind of language is not tolerated in this church.” And with that said, the secretary leaves her desk and walks into the pastor’s study to inform him of her situation. The pastor agrees that the secretary does not have to listen to that foul language. They both return to her office and the pastor asks the old geezer, “Sir, what seems to be the problem here?” “There is no damn problem,” the man says. “I just won $200 million bucks in the damn lottery and I want to join this damn church to get rid of some of this damn money.” “I see,” said the pastor. “And is this old nag giving you a hard time?”

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR MORE THAN CHRISTIAN SUFFERED A HEART STOPPING MOMENT: When you go to a sporting event or sit down to watch one that last thing you think about seeing is a player collapsing. However that was the horrific sight that everyone around the world were witnessed when Christian Eriksen suffered a heart attack when playing for Denmark against Finland. If there is a ‘good place’ to suffer something like this then it is at a high profile sporting event where a full medical team is in place with all the state-of-the-art equipment on hand. Thankfully the outcome is very positive with the player thanking everyone who did everything right, including his teammates. But the inquest into what happened will now take place as Eriksen is one of the world’s top players and will have been tested at least twice a year. So the medical experts around the world will be looking to see if there are lessons that can be learned re the screening of sports persons. However from a local point of view it should prompt every club that has a defibrillator to check it this week, to put a routine in place for regular checking of the machine, to ensure that all the parts are working and in warranty and that there are enough people trained in the club that there will be qualified persons on hand at all training sessions and games. If there are clubs out there that don’t have a defibrillator then surely this incident will prompt them to get one and get their personal trained. There are lots of great stories of people who have been saved including at least one at my own club Killarney Celtic. Fingers crossed if another sports person suffers a heart attack at any pitch – local or national – we will see the same successful outcome. AUSTIN STACKS NEWS: Once again this week there was a great turn-out for the youngest players in the club. The u8’s and under 9’s had a great morning with neighbours Na Gaeil. The u10/11’s are looking forward to their u11 Lee Strand GoGames Phase 1. These got underway with 3 great efforts with Kilcummin. On the 17th they travel to Killarney to take on Austin Stacks followed by games against Laune Rangers, Milltown/Castlemaine and Ballymacelligott. The u12/13’s opened their County League against John Mitchels with the visitors winning the Division 1 game. There next game is on Sunday June 20th in Listry against Keel/Listry. The B’s came out on top in their game hitting a big score of 5-09. They will also play Keel/Listry in their next game. The u15’s got their County Football League Division 1A off to a good start Friday 18th June 2021

PARNELLS NEWS: The club will run a four day Summer camp from Monday the 19th to Thursday the 22nd of July, 10 to 1pm. The camp is open to boys and girls age 6 to 14. The Minor County Hurling League opener saw the boys take on Kenmare and lead 1-05 tp 0-04 at half time. The Tralee side won narrowly in the end 3-06 to 1-10. The Senior hurlers were well beaten by Abbeydorney 3-20 to 0-12 but it was still a proud night for the club as it was their first time playing in the top division. The Tralee men played particularly well in the first half trailing only 0-07 to 0-08 at the half. Graduates of the Youth Coach Volunteer Programme Robin Porter and Saoirse Maloney are busy teaching the small ball skills to Junior and Senior Infants in the Presentation Primary School. The club was also delighted to be named the top selling Munster club for the National Draw and they have won e1000 and thank everyone who supported the draw. KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: The County League got underway with a 1-06 to 0-09 draw away to Kenmare Shamrocks. This weekend they are at home to Legion. The u11’s got their Go Games underway this week against Castlegregory. The u9-u12 Girls Pod 1 enjoyed their trip to Rahillys. The u15’s lost out away to Ballymac B 3-10 to 4-05. Also progressing to the County competition are Aoife Kennedy, Art u12, Handwriting u12 Chloe Passway and Solo Music u12 Erin O’Shea. WORLD SERIES OF SWIMMING UNDERWAY: The Tralee Bay Swimming Club got their World Series 2021 underway in beautiful conditions on Monday night. The next swim is pencilled in for Tuesday June 29th with the first socially distanced BBQ also taking place that night. Training for other big swims of the summer continues. KERRY RIDERS TO THE FORE AS CYCLING SEASON GETS UNDERWAY: In a usual year the competitive cycling season would be well underway by now with the Lacey Cup being the usual season starter in March. that took place on the 2km oval. In the top race Killarney’s Conor Kissane and Richard Maes took 4th and 5th. Sam Bolger was first in the A4/M50/ M60 race with Killarney’s John Crowley in 5th. Tralee man in Green: Rugby fans in the county were happy to see Ultan Dillan, who plays with Connacht, being named on Ireland coach Andy Farrell’s squad for the July tests against Japan and the USA at the Aviva Stadium. ON THE GREENS: KERRY PLAYER ON THE BALL IN NATIONAL PITCH & PUTT COMPETITIONS: At the delayed 2020 National Strokeplay Championships Kerry players took four of the eight prizes on offer. A great second round of 5 under par at St Anne’s by Tralee’s Brian Moynihan saw him take second place with 6 under – just one behind the winner Jake Shine from Listowel. To make it a clean sweep on the podium for Kerry players Castleisland’s Paudie Looney took third. In the Intermediate event at St Stephen’s Tralee’s Michael Conway hit a hole in one and with the title decided on countback this was vital in his 11 under total. His 7 under second round won the title for him as with Covid protocols in place there are no play-off holes played this summer. Damien Fleming from Killarney took 4th in the Seniors and has qualified automatically for the 2021 finals.
