Stories of Transgender Women Transitioning From Male-To-Female Physically and Socially
2
I was born in a small town, located in the bible belt of Texas. I grew up hiding who I was, and being an “angry Christian” until I realized at the age of 12 that I was just masking who I really was and came out (as a gay male, the lesser of evils compared to trans here) at that same age and went through hell until 17. From then ‘til 23, I pondered and came to terms I was trans, and sought to begin transition. Neither parents accepted me and I’m now on my own in Spokane, Washington where it’s safe for my people. And I’m happy, figuring out my life now.

My female identity was selfembraced about a decade ago, when there was next to no transgender exposure in media and little awareness (at least in small, rural towns in the south). I began living as myself at late 18 and legally changed my name at age 20. I finally started hormones at mid 21. Over the last 4.5 years, I have become the beautiful woman I am today who expresses herself in art and poetry, earned her bachelor’s degree, being an Honors Scholar at the same time, and is slowly working her way up to be a model. Yes, I’m a transgender woman, but I also want the world to know I’m so much more than my gender identity and have talents that are needed to brighten this world!

I am a trans girl, born and raised in North Georgia. I came out on National Coming Out Day in 2015, first to my parents, then on social media to everyone. Online, I received a lot of positive feedback from friends and distant family. However, my parents and certain close family didn’t accept and agree with my choice. I am currently working two jobs in hopes to soon start my transition and to move into a place of my own.
