NON-BINARY
Identities That Are Not Exclusively Masculine or Feminine; Outside the Gender Binary

Feminism - sex - rock n roll. I spent years lying to myself and everyone I loved because I thought that the way I felt was “wrong.” Couldn’t be happier to not be that person anymore. I am a radical queer that smiles in the intolerant faces of the people who scoff at me on the street. I play noisey defective pop music for freaks in basements and I love every minute. I want to topple the patriarchy. Black lives matter! Non-binary recognition! I always keep in mind that Sara Ahmed said, ”[A] moment of queer pride is a refusal to be shamed by witnessing the other as ashamed of you.”

I was born in Chicago, Illinois. Ever since I was a little kid, I always knew I was “different.” My first crush was on a girl. I was raised in a Spanish, religious family. I didn’t like the idea of me having to be miserable, wearing feminine clothing, and having to act like I was cisgender and straight my whole life, so I decided to come out to my sisters. My mom found out when I was 12 and became distraught. When I turned 14 was when she finally accepted me as bi (I’m pansexual). She doesn’t understand that there are more genders. I have depression, and at one point was a self harmer. I have been given safe medication for depression and self harm, and am getting better, I have great friends who have helped me get better.

I'm an aspiring animator who happens to be non-binary. I didn't always think I was trans, but one day about two years ago I did. It's never too late to 'realize', just do what feels right! I'm from New York and went to school there, but by the time you read this I'll probably be in Toronto. Also, my favorite PokĂŠmon is Oddish.
