“ Magazine? A flexible solution that suits us” At Jan Snel we are incredibly busy with beautiful, challenging, renewing projects all year long. We hardly get the chance to give you an update. Yet we do think it’s important to show you what we’ve been doing and more importantly, what is now possible with flexible building. That’s why we recently completely redid our website. On jansnel.com you can see many examples of our recent projects. The site also has a snel selector® that makes it easy for you to find the projects you’re interested in. We’re completely satisfied with the new site, but still. We’re the kind of people that really grab hold of something and we want to give you something tangible. A brochure? No; that’s too inflexible. Besides, the developments are moving so quickly that a brochure like that is out of date after just a few months. How about a magazine, then? What a great idea! Our own publication that comes out twice a year and that we can change the contents of every time: it’s a flexible solution that perfectly suits us. No sooner said than done. Here in your hands is the very first JNSNL. You decide what to read and when; in that way, you’re the flexible one. I’m certain that after flipping through this magazine you’ll get a good picture of Jan Snel and the flexible building possibilities. From our branches in Montfoort, Raamsdonkveer, Hulst, Bornem, Eemshaven and Bemelen, we are ready to help you. Happy reading and until next time! Harry van Zandwijk General Director of Jan Snel

Time goes fast too… Jan Snel BV was founded in 1960 in Montfoort (NL). In the early years, the focus was on transport, but we very quickly became active in construction as well. These construction activities focused on temporary building in particular. The quality of modular building solutions quickly improved, partly as a result of our own innovations and improvements. The buildings that were originally temporary very quickly became suitable for semi-permanent or even permanent use.
from 2000 the Jan Snel Group quickly grew to become one of the largest modular builders in the Netherlands and Belgium. At the moment we have six branches in the

Jan Snel Transport Leading the way in transporting recyclable raw materials
Jan Snel is a multifaceted enterprise. In addition to specialising in flexible building, we are also a logistic service provider. The client then has everything needed to complete its administration and it can focus on its business.” How do you guarantee quality and the high level of service? Jos: “Well, it starts when we hire new drivers. They first enter a training programme that lasts a few weeks. They start off by driving with an experienced driver who coaches them until they know all the ins and outs of the trade. We also hold driver meetings and we work on drivers’ attitudes and motivation, so that they are aware of the risks and perform their duties responsibly. They are kept up

Even though the processes in our head office in Montfoort are different from those in Hulst and Raamsdonkveer, the main principles are the same. For example, in Montfoort we’ve implemented the 5S method, which concerns workplace organisation. All of this is done in close consultation with the employees, though. There are improvement

Based on the temporary system, Jan Snel designed a special shell with our municipal architect, Marc Verheijen. This was important to the Amenities Committee, considering that the standard units for permanent buildings have an overly temporary appearance and thanks to the new shell, that’s gone. We are currently working on further development of the existing units using composite materials. Snel tells
We live in a society that is changing faster and faster and in which it is more and more difficult to estimate future developments. One of the consequences of this is that the traditional idea of building has been completely outmoded. We simply don’t know what requirements and wishes will be made of buildings in ten years’ time. The solution is flexibility. But what is a flexible building exactly?

Art donation to Vivre de Bron
Jubilee donation to War Child This year marks Jan Snel’s 50th anniversary. This is a unique anniversary that we don’t want to keep to ourselves. In addition to the necessary festivities, we have made a donation to War Child. The cheque for € 27,000 was received personally by Marco Borsato. This amount enables War Child to help 2,250 children for an entire year. Judith Bouwman, War Child campaign coordinator, comments: “We greatly appreciate that Jan Snel collected money for War Child in this manner! Thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of everyone at Jan Snel, we can continue our important work. And that is necessary, because at this very moment millions of children are victims of war. Once again, thank you so much for this fantastic initiative!”

Care institution Vivre de Bron is a valued client in the southernmost tip of the Netherlands. In celebration of the opening of a new location in Eijsden, we made a special donation. With our contribution, Vivre de Bron purchased a beautiful diptych by artist Marly Freij. The digital art advice of SilleKunst helped in choosing this particular work of art.
