Jan Snel at the focus of attention... we continue to focus our attention on you While flexible building is being embraced by an increasing number of companies and organisations, we at Jan Snel are extending our own market position. While previously we were primarily engaged in communicating the advantages of flexible building in general, there is now room for us to show what we can do as a business. As you may expect from us, we set to work with enthusiasm from the outset. No half measures. In June and September we conducted a national campaign on TV, on radio and in magazines. I am definitely proud of this, and the results from the campaign have been promising. We have received lots of phone calls from people who saw or heard about us. Firm contracts have come out of this, and we have really established Jan Snel as an A-brand. Brand recognition in new target groups is great, but the good opinion of our existing clients is much more important. A recent customer satisfaction survey gave us extremely good scores - proof for me that our growth has not been at the expense of our focus on ongoing projects. We intend to press on in the same spirit and are on the look-out wherever possible for improvements. Better means greener as well - here there is always room for improvement. In this regard, Jan Snel Transport has acquired new trucks complying with the latest sustainability requirements. As a result we are a lot greener when on the road. Finally I would like to refer you the article on page 16. Our subsidiary Holland Composites is currently involved in one of the most attractive projects in the history of the business. The new fa莽ade of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam will be a top international attraction. A better calling card for our group of companies is scarcely conceivable. We have made the greatest effort to publish this JNSNL ahead of Christmas, so that you will be able to page through it during a quiet moment. It seemed a bit over the top to send a Christmas card as well, so I take this opportunity of wishing you a happy Festive Season and a fantastic 2012! Lots of fun reading and until the next time! sat路is路fied Flexible building is the means, customer satisfaction the aim We can improve only if we know what you think about us. In a recent customer satisfaction survey, we scored well in process, staff, service procedure and in customer satisfaction overall. For you, the words that come to mind in connection with Jan Snel are 'fast', 'quality', 'flexible', 'customerfocused' and 'reliable'. Does this mean that we are now satisfied? By no means! When it comes to flexible building, it is clear that an increasing amount is being geared towards the Internet. We are currently making a great effort to expand our online and social media presence.

Jan Snel has gone into partnership with HMM bv, a developer of lightweight offshore units. This is a significant step for Jan Snel that dovetails with the company's strategy and ambitions. We are not simply jumping in at the deep end, but executing a self-assured dive into a highly promising new market. Harry van Zandwijk, General Director of Jan Snel, and Leo Oostendorp, an investor in HMM, are joining forces in this new step.

Creating value by having people work together

The need for combined effort has now percolated through to all levels at IOB engineering practice. The awareness that you can achieve the best results only by combining expertise provides a view of the future. Routine has to be abandoned, because only then do you arrive at innovation. At the same time it creates a sense of togetherness. Doing things solo for yourself makes way for excelling. Tackling projects no longer in sequence, but alongside each other shoulder-to-shoulder. A multi-disciplinary approach ensures value creation and limiting the costs that result from mistakes - so 1+1=3.

Regarding the reasons for the collaboration Eelco says: ‘As well as the equipment, our customers increasingly demand temporary accommodation at large projects. We went into collaboration with Jan Snel to be able to provide them with the best possible service.’ Why Jan Snel precisely? ‘Nil nobis absurdum’ What do you do when a customer asks for 20 office units, 3 emergency first aid stations and a 30,000-litre water tank to be shipped to Nigeria and installed all within a week and a half? J.W. van de Meeneschool Successful handover

In the last JNSNL we reported on the construction of the J.W. van de Meeneschool in Utrecht. This was an exceptional project, as in just 10 weeks, a school had to be built to last for 40 years. The school has now been handed over and we can look back on a challenging project. The specifications for the technical requirements were even more stringent than in the Building Decree. With such tight scheduling moreover, our flexibility is stretched to the limit, certainly if things do not go according to plan and an oil tank turns up in a completely different spot than shown on the drawings! The fact that we nevertheless managed to deliver the modular school within a very short time is thanks in part to Holland Composites. Cooperation with our subsidiary on the composite gable demonstrates that the synergies aimed for between the two companies in fact works in practice. You can read more about this project

Unlimited fun If you spend the whole day driving a huge truck, you tend to forget what a great experience it is. A couple of times a year, our drivers are reminded of this in a special way. They participate voluntarily in a range of events during which they allow physically and mentally handicapped people to experience a trip in a truck at first hand. Our drivers were involved in the Truckrun in Woerden (18 June), at the Truckroll in Hulst (10 September) and at De Waardse Truckers (17 September). Our passengers for the day could not get enough of it, and nor could we in all honesty!

At Jan Snel we like short lines of communication, and so social media are just made for us. You can follow us via Twitter, LinkedIn or YouTube. We see these as new channels for keeping you up to date on our latest projects, background films and updates. But that is just one side of the story; we
