The Season Highlights This year was Tess Ellis's 9th season as head coach for the William & Mary Field Hockey Program. It was one filled with top twenty-five competitions including six of nine non-conference games against top twenty programs. The team was beyond excited to play after a short five-game season in spring 2021 and a canceled fall 2020 season. We opened the

We had some amazing dinners this year highlighted by the Friedman's hosting us in Maryland and the Curran's doing the same after that spectacular win against Drexel. We spent a day exploring the delights of Reading Terminal Market - its diversity of food, delicious coffee, and other novelties that caught our eyes. Our trips often had many moments of team karaoke on the bus, walks near and around our hotels, and of course, Dunkin Donuts stops! We wrapped the season with a touch loss in the CAA Championship Tournament semi-final game versus Delaware, but we will be back stronger in the fall 2022 season because of the experience we have gained. We want to give a special thank you and shout out to our three seniors whom we will greatly miss next season, but have helped to grow the next generation of program leaders.

most

friends, and supporters from freshman to senior year who had a huge part in making my time here at William & Mary so special."
KIMI JONES "Tribe Field Hockey taught me so much about not only field hockey but also being a better person. There is so much value in being surrounded by so many great people; I was challenged everyday to be better and to do better. I will always have the lasting memories of the big wins—winning CAA’s and beating Louisville, but also the even better memories of sharing that with my friends. I value my time spent as a member of Tribe Field Hockey, and I want to thank everyone that was around to support us on our journey: Tess, Fitts, Mark, Ayla, Martu, and anyone else that was involved in athletics during my time at William & Mary. Go Tribe!"
CARA MENGES "I can’t imagine playing for any program other than Tribe Field Hockey. I had the best four years with all the people involved with this team. From winning a CAA championship to practicing with my friends everyday, I have the most amazing memories with my coaches and teammates. Thank you to Tess, Fitts, Ayla, Terry, Keith, and all of my teammates for making my experience playing here so special. "

Holiday Letter! Holiday time and the end of season is a time for reflection and a time to say “Thank You” to family and friends for all their love and support throughout the years. I’m very grateful for the unconditional love our alumni have for this College and the Field Hockey program. Without your support, I would not be able to put together a group of amazingly talented young women who work hard every day to represent the core values of William & Mary Field Hockey It has been a roller coaster of a couple of years. Through all the ups and downs with Covid and the changes within our athletic program, the Field Hockey program has pulled together to hold strong and keep a positive attitude about getting on the field and staying healthy for the season and school year. I’m honored that you support this program and provide us with the means to grow together and stay at the top of conference and work our way towards the top 15 in the country. Because of your support, we have been blessed with many things to celebrate as a program. In the last two years: In our spring season, we played five games out of seven scheduled games. Our first game was canceled due to Covid protocol. Our second game was canceled due to a snowstorm in Boston. We qualified for our conference tournament. Over the summer months, players were able to train and return ready to go for a season of 16 games. We missed one game due to Covid protocol. The 2021 season started with a strong non-conference schedule setting the team up for success by qualifying for their 8th straight conference tournament. We had a strong showing vs Delaware in the semi-finals. We lost to Delaware who went on to win the CAA Tournament Championship and moved onto the NCAA Championship Tournament. With a small senior class of three, the future is looking extremely promising for this young, talented squad. The Tribe Field Hockey Center: Our new home is wonderful. The team spends a lot of time in our new locker room, hanging out before and after practice. It’s a great place to study and hang out between classes. Everything is in one place. It has allowed players and staff to connect more during the days. Yes, we still have our offices in Kaplan (W&M Hall), but it is nice to hang out in the video office in the FH Center and look out over Busch Field. In our Field Hockey Center we have our own: Equipment & laundry Room, Athletic Training Room/ kitchen area, Goalie room with an area for players to dry their shoes. The upstairs observation/viewing deck. Players love hanging out on top of the building to do work and grab some extra sunshine. The Wi-Fi in the new building now allows us to live stream all our home games. The new four camera system around Busch Field allows us to record practice with a simple record button on our cell phones. By the spring we will have video referrals up and running for all games. We will be the first in conference to have this for all games.

Public Toilets. A wonderful addition to Busch Field. The general student population and fans are loving the new digs. A/C in the summer and heat in the winter. A long way from the portable toilets that we had for 25 years.
I’m very grateful for the unconditional love our alumni and supporters have for this College and the Field Hockey program. I’m honored that you support me and this program. Thank you very much. We’re sending our best wishes for a very Merry Christmas to you and your family. One Tribe, One Family Love,
