As you graduate, I am confident your purpose has become more defined for your life during your time of studies in TCA College. Purpose is a powerful driving force in our lives. Purpose is the reason for which something is done or for which something exists. My prayer is that you now know your purpose in God’s Kingdom so strongly that you will push to achieve your purpose, not allowing anything to distract you. There will be many times when you could lose sight of your calling and purpose, but God is looking for a new generation of purpose-driven leaders, a generation that will rise up and face challenges enthusiastically with fresh anointing and revelation. Remember, Joshua was appointed Israel’s new leader and to take the nation across the Jordan River. Moses had brought Israel to that same location some forty years earlier, but the people had lost focus of the purpose for their journey. With Joshua in command, Israel was facing the same walls around Jericho. The walls were the same height, same width, and the same river had to be crossed. However, now it was more difficult because the river was flooded.

The people faced the same obstacles and challenges. Moses was gone, and Israel’s destiny now depended on their new leader regaining purpose.

即将毕业的学生们，我深信你们的人生目标随着新亚学院的学习旅程变得更清晰了。目标是我们生命极大的推动力；目标是促使某些事的成就，或是成了某些事存在的理由。

Leadership can be taught in a classroom, but leadership is learned in the field, where purpose must be a driving force in the life of the leader.

我的祷告是现在你们会因为清楚在上帝国度里的目标，而勉力地去达到目标，不容许任何东西叫你们分心。

Graduates, you will be challenged by society’s new values and diverse teachings that must be addressed. Your commitment to stay the course and achieve your God-given purpose will determine freedom and victory for thousands of people. Your model of committed purposedriven leadership will demonstrate to the next generation that God is still a powerful prayer-answering God. My prayers are with you for a powerful purpose-driven future anchored in God’s calling. Congratulations on today’s success for tomorrow’s purpose.

许多时候，你们会偏离呼召和目标。可是上帝寻找的新一代领袖是得持有目标导向的、是能激昂面对挑战的、是附有新恩膏和启示的。要记得，约书亚受委成为以色列的领袖，带领国家渡过约旦河。摩西在四十年前已经把以色列带到同一个地方，但是百姓对于他们旅途的目标已经模糊了。在约书亚的带领下，以色列面对着同样的耶利哥城墙——墙是一样的高、一样的宽；他们也得越过同样的河。然而，更加困难的是河水正在泛滥。百姓面对同样的障碍和挑战。摩西已经不在了，以色列的命运如今取决于他们重获目标的新领袖。领导学可以在课堂上教导，但学习却是在职场上，而目标必须是领袖生命中的一股推动力。毕业生们，你们要面对社会新价值的挑战，也要应对多元化的教导。众多人的自由和得胜基于你坚守跑道，完成上帝赋予的目的。

Congratulations to the class of 2017! I applaud your faith, perseverance, and diligence in reaching this important milestone of your call and destiny. No doubt your time in TCA College has been crucial in shaping your values, practices, and understanding of God and His Word. However, remember, graduation is not the end of your learning journey. God will continue to extend your vision, expand your thinking, and excite your heart as you witness Him at work in churches, communities, nations, and generations for His glory. As you graduate this October, 2017, I am reminded of another graduate of theological studies who, on October 31, 1517 was reported to have posted 95 theses to the door of Wittenberg Castle Church in Germany. Five hundred years ago, Martin Luther courageously contended for the truth of God’s Word which ignited the fire of the Protestant Reformation. Authentic Christian ministry will invariably include times of struggle, fear, uncertainties, and even danger. Do not be led by the world or fear the voices of man, but be led by what God has revealed to you in His Word. I exhort you to stand strong in the face of opposition, compromise, and relativism. Believe me, in my years of ministry and journey with Him, His grace has always been more than sufficient. Graduates, may you press forward with passionate honor for God, audacious fervor for His truth, relentless belief in people, and contagious faith to reap the whitened harvest fields!

祝贺2017年的毕业生们！我为着你们的信心、毅力和勤奋而喝采。因为你们完成了在呼召和使命上的重要里程碑。无疑的，在新亚学院这段期间里，无论是个人的价值观、在实践行为上、对神的认识，以及对祂话语的认知，你们已不断地被塑造。然而，你们要切记，毕业并不是学习旅程的终点。神会继续扩大你们的视野、扩张你们的思想境界，并且激发你们为祂做见证；你们会为着祂的荣耀，在教会、社区、国家和世代传承作见证。由于你们在2017年的10月份毕业，不禁使我想起了另一位完成神学研究的毕业生。根据1517年10月31日的报导，他在德国威登堡的城堡教堂大门上张贴了九十五条提纲。五百年前，因为马丁路德奋勇地为着神的真理争论，燃起了新教改革之火。实际上，基督教事工一定会面临挣扎、害怕、疑惑，甚至是危险的时刻。你们不要被世界牵引，或因人而感畏惧；你们要通过神话语给予的启示带领你们。我劝勉你们，当面对反对势力、妥协主义和相对主义时，你们一定要不屈不挠地站稳立场。相信我，我这么多年的服事经验，以及与神同行的旅程里，祂的恩典总是远超所需的。毕业生们，愿你们凭着激昂荣耀神的心，放胆热忱寻求真理，对人抱着刻不容缓的信心前进，并且带着富有感染力的信心去收割丰收的庄稼吧!

亲爱的毕业生，

Dear Graduates, You are graduating at an exciting time when technology is creating possibilities that would have been unimaginable just a mere decade ago. The advancement of technology has created many products and services that have seemingly improved the life of humanity. It has also accelerated the exchange of goods and services – trade, commerce and financial services are now easily transacted through various online platforms. The future looks exciting and promising with developments in artificial intelligence and an ever-expanding Internet of Things. Despite this progress made by humanity, it does not remove our need for the gospel of Jesus Christ. We live in an era when human needs are the most acute, as can be seen in natural disasters, terrorists attacks around the globe, wars and rumors of wars in the Middle East and the Korean Peninsula. This is further accentuated by the disruptive technology that has caused instability and uncertainty in many lives. Nonetheless, such turbulent times, and a complex global environment have created many

opportunities for the gospel to be shared. This calls for Christian ministers and leaders who are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to preach and minister with God’s authoritative Word (Acts 1:8), performing supernatural signs and wonders in the name of Jesus Christ (Mark 16:17-18), and love not their lives even unto death (Rev.12:11). These should also be missional leaders who are driven by the mandate of the Great Commission and carry a deep desire to see individuals, families and nations experience God’s love and shalom. As you complete an important academic milestone in your life journey, may you be part of this missional force to answer God’s call to make an impact in this generation and the generations to come.

你们正于一个激动人心的时刻毕业，因着仅仅在十年的期间，科技成就了许多难以想像的可能性。科技的进步造就了许多产品及服务，这似乎也改善了人们的生活。这也加快了货物和服务业的贸易，透过多样的网上交易平台，贸易、商务和金融服务，都可轻易地办理。随着人工智能的发展与互联网不断地拓展，未来前景令人兴奋和充满希望。即使人类有上述的进步，却没消除人们对耶稣基督福音的需要。我们生活在这日新月异的年代，人们有急切的需求。如当前众所周知的自然灾害、恐怖分子全球袭击，以及中东和朝鲜半岛战争的谣传。革新的科技更加剧了人们生活的不稳定和不确定性。尽管如此，动荡的时代和全球环境的複杂性，却创造了更多传福音的机会。因此这需要更多被圣灵充满的牧师和领袖，带着神权柄的话语去宣讲和服事(使徒行传 1:8)、奉耶稣基督的名行那超自然的神迹奇事 (马可福音16:17-18)，并且至死也没有爱惜自己的生命(启示录12:11)。当你完成了人生旅途中重要的学术里程碑时，愿你成为推动这使命的一份子，回应神的呼召，去影响这个世代和下个世代。

School of Counseling 辅导系 Congratulations to the graduates of the School of Counseling, TCA College! Beginning with only five graduates in 2009, we now have 21 graduates in 2017! The School of Counseling has increased our enrolment every year for the past 10 years, and this year, we peaked in our enrolment with more than 90 students at different stages of the program! It is both exciting and amazing to observe Christians from all walks of life develop a keen interest for advanced studies in the counseling profession to serve the church and the community. By the grace and favor of God, our SOC graduates have found employment and/or are practicing in organizations including the Ministry of Education, family service centers, community services and voluntary welfare organizations, as well as churches and religious organizations. Many have also gone on to individual private practice, group private practice, rehabilitation and residential services, addiction counseling, freelance counseling and training, and several have even positioned themselves as advocates for specific social concerns! Two of our graduates have even become clinical supervisors. After going through a review, from this year the School of Counseling will only admit students on a cohort basis once a year in the month of January. Having a cohort would best support part-time students through the academic schedule

and will also help to better coordinate the practicum placements when students complete their internship before graduation. Applications for our Master of Arts in Counseling are now open for the January 2018 cohort. To all our MAC graduates, you have done well on this journey. Many of you already have offers of employment after your graduation. This is exciting and speaks to your competencies and readiness to enter the field of counseling. You have worked hard and your diligence is an inspiration to all current students and those who are entering the program after you! May you find your placement in the professional arena and be enriched as a person and empowered in your practice. TCA College School of Counseling is officially recognized by the Singapore Association for Counseling (SAC) and the International Registry for Counselor Education Programs (IRCEP) and continues to attract interest among Christians locally due to our two-pronged emphasis as a faith-integrated and skills-focused program. “The things you have learned and received and heard and seen… practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” – Philippians 4:9 (NASB)

Acquiring an MAC at TCA College was a dream come true. I appreciated the lecturers stretching us; not just with head knowledge but clinical skills through role-plays, group work, internship, etc. Now, as an assistant senior counselor at a Family Service Centre, I do casework, counseling and supervision. I work with individuals, couples and families.

The Master of Arts in Counseling program has equipped me with knowledge and skills to work with clients from all walks of life. The journey has enabled me to grow as a Christfollower. Though I have graduated, I am still receiving encouragement and support from my TCA lecturers. I will continue to stay teachable in my professional journey!

On behalf of the faculty of the School of Theology (English), I offer our warmest congratulations to the graduating batch of 2017. The mission of our school is to prepare and equip believers to become leaders who will fulfill the mission of the Church. Each of you is now a fruit of this effort and I believe you will be a powerful testimony of what God is doing through TCA College. As you graduate, I exhort you to remember God’s word to Joshua in Joshua 1:1-9. Joshua was at a momentous time in his life, bearing the responsibility to lead Israel to conquer the promised land. God’s word to Joshua was to be strong and courageous – a message I believe is likewise relevant to you as you begin a fresh phase of your ministry. We see that Joshua could draw courage from God’s divine commission. This was not an endeavor on which Joshua was seeking to embark on his own. This was a mandate from heaven to assume leadership and fulfill God’s purpose. Likewise, I believe each of you has been commissioned by God. Many of you have shared with me about God’s call on your life. I urge you to guard this call and draw strength from it. I pray that you will

continually sense God’s hand upon your life and that you will always seek to be obedient to His leading. We also see that Joshua drew courage from the promise of God’s presence. God specifically assured Joshua that His presence would continue to follow Israel and enable them to triumph. God even invited Joshua to recall how He had been with Moses, for God would be with him in the same way. Similarly, may you recognize that the God who was with Moses and Joshua is the same God with you as you do His work. Finally, let us obey God’s command to study, meditate and obey everything found within Scripture. While you may have completed your academic journey, your commitment to study and abide by the Word must never end. In fact, I hope that your love and hunger for God’s word has intensified during your time at TCA. To all graduates, be strong and courageous in building God’s kingdom!

Master of Arts in Christian Leadership

Strategic Partnership TCA College (TCA) is excited to partner with Life Pacific College US (LPC) to bring the MACL to this region. LPC is an accredited institution of biblical higher education and has been involved in educating leaders since 1923. Their flagship online leadership program has generated substantial traction in the US. The MACL offered in TCA is accredited with WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) and the Association for Biblical Higher Education in Canada and the United States (ABHE). Unique Program Many pastors and Christian leaders in our region have expressed their need to be equipped in leadership skills. This partnership will open up new possibilities for pastors and Christian leaders across this region to acquire and develop advanced concepts of Christian leadership, and knowledge for God’s service without having to leave their respective ministry contexts. The MACL is an online program that is based on a cohort. They begin the program with a one-week onsite residency, followed by four weeks of online work. These residencies provide a rich learning and cohort experience that leads up to the transition to an online environment. Within this online learning community, collaborative learning, sharing of

resources; expressions of support, prayer and encouragement are exchanged; fostering an active, interactive environment in which both the course content and personal communication are not compromised. The second-year schedule follows the same structure, but ends with a capstone project. In some ways, online learning is a key response to the voices of many adult learners for quality accelerated learning. Given the quality learning and the flexibility, I believe it is a great way forward. Best of Two Institutions Students will benefit from the strengths of both institutions. They will glean knowledge and experience from strategic leadership studies that have been undergirded with a strong emphasis on the bible, theology and practice. The curriculum has been specially designed to achieve specific learning outcomes. For example, the capstone project will help students relate their research to diverse ministry contexts. This partnership will grant MACL students access to TCA’s well-equipped library and the wide range of online resources at the LPC Library. Another asset to this partnership is the blend of scholarly and practical insights from an international faculty, given that this is a US-accredited graduate degree. Acquiring Advanced Leadership Skills MACL is designed to help students develop advanced concepts of Christian leadership. Students will be taught best organizational practices, learn applied research, and implement strategic, bold and new leadership endeavours to impact their own ministry contexts. Students will learn self-awareness disciplines, be acquainted with the major approaches to leadership development, acquire tools for developing their organizations or

churches, discover the cultural trends in ministry, learn how theology influences the choice of leadership theories, and be equipped with biblical tools for contextualizing alongside various other skills. As we end the interview, Dr Cheong exhorts Christian leaders and ministers: “I invite you to seriously consider enrolling in MACL Online. If you have a bachelor’s degree and desire to pursue further specialized education and develop additional advanced skills in leadership and Christian ministry, the MACL is for you.”

Cultural Night was an event that brought a different perspective to my studies at TCA College. Diversity within the College was showcased through great food and company. The highlight of the evening was seeing each group, comprising students and staff coming together to perform various dramas and musicals. It was altogether a fun and memorable evening. Praise God for Cohesion Day 2017! It was my first time participating in this interactive outdoor event, one of the signature highlights on the TCA calendar. The atmosphere exuded anticipation and excitement from the start. Lecturers, staff and students gathered at TCA bright and early to board the coaches that would bring us to Punggol Waterway. An invigorating time of fun and fellowship awaited us at this idyllic nature spot tucked away in the northeastern corner of Singapore. We bonded even as we competed in an atmosphere of fun-

filled camaraderie in the various activities; all aiming to win the top prize. We took in the refreshing sights and sounds of this beautiful getaway, and took an abundance of pictures as we strolled along. Despite the hot humid weather, we pressed on toward the destination, where the prospect of a scrumptious lunch awaited. I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity to bond with fellow students, lecturers and staff. The outdoor setting and interactive games enabled us to get to know one another better in a relaxed environment outside of the classroom and college. May there be many memorable Cohesion Days to come!

联谊日的举行鼓舞着奋进的脚步，它促进了学院老师、同工和学生们之间的交流及合作，增进了友谊。这次联谊日顺利并圆满的举行。感谢学院筹备了此次外出活动，以及学生会的老师与同学们的不辞辛劳与沉谋研虑。联谊日中游戏是贯穿此次活动的主要环节。从开始的小组分配到每个游戏项目等等，都充滿著此起彼落的欢笑声。开始的第一个破冰的游戏，让大家相互认识、拉近彼此的距离，促進彼此放松并乐于交通。紧接着以小组为单位进行第二个游戏，寻找手册中要求的事物。随后游戏中集体的合照，到最后的午餐购买等一系列游戏中，都充满“目的性”却毫无违和感。这是我第一次参加学院举办的联谊日活动，非常开心的同时也收获多多。也期待下次学院的活动。

Missions Trip 短宣 It was my great privilege to travel to Vietnam during term break this year in April to help train young Vietnamese men and women for pastoral ministry. Together, over eight days, 16 eager young men and women studied with me the subject of Christian Apologetics, discussing the important topic of worldviews, studying arguments for the existence of God, examining the issue of creation and evolution, investigating evidence for the reliability of the Scriptures and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as addressing the question of other religions. The students came from all over the country of Vietnam – some from the North, some from the Highlands, some from the Mekong Delta. They have a

deep, abiding passion for ministry and were all active in their local churches during their time of study. As this was one of their final classes before graduating this past May, the students have since completed their studies and are now actively transitioning to fulltime ministry positions, many returning to their home church to assist with ongoing ministry, and others to begin new ministry works. Teaching through a translator can be a challenge, but the classroom experience went smoothly and the students were able to encounter, interact with, critically engage, and absorb a great deal of information on the subject of Apologetics. The students were helpful, kind and very personable. For instance, my motorbike driver/tour guide student took upon himself

the task of helping me discover the best bowl of beef pho in Vietnam every evening. I am thankful for the opportunity provided by TCA College to travel and teach in places such as Vietnam. The church there is young but growing, and the students have a vision, calling and passion to impact their country and their generation for the Kingdom of God through the power of the gospel and the church of Jesus Christ.

Missions Trip 短宣 The August term break was well spent with a group of enthusiastic students from Evangel Bible College, Yangon, Myanmar. 14 second and final year students of the Master of Divinity program enrolled in the Asian Church History and Missions course. This took them on a historical tour of Christianity in Asia – from East Asia, to South-East Asia, and South Asia. The experience was as if we were on an actual six-day tour together. We dedicated an entire day to the study of Christianity in Myanmar, in particular the Assemblies of God’s inroad to the then Burma. My heart was strangely warmed as I sat and listened to the discussions, pored over course notes, and made minor corrections of the notes which were written by outsiders. I can tell they are proud of their heritage and grateful to early missionaries who brought the good news to

them. Many of them are the minority, yet privileged, ethnic groups: Shan, Kachin, Chin, Karen, and Mon, the earliest recipients of the gospel in Myanmar. Besides teaching the class, I also participated in their daily chapel service. Led by the worship leader, students read the college’s mission statement at the start of chapel – a great way to remember the college’s raison d'être. As the second term drew to an end in September, I shared an end-of-term reflection at service. Tuesday was College Uniform Day – the ladies wore light blue tops with longyi, the traditional long skirt, while the men dressed in neatlypressed light blue tops and dark blue pants. Thursday afternoons were dedicated to what we called Christian Duty. Students spent time sprucing up the campus,

Evangel Bible College (EBC), led by Rev Dr Saw Tint Sann Oo, is passionate about preparing pastors, teachers, evangelists, church planters, denominational leaders, theological educators, and Christian social workers for ministry. Having been donated a large piece of land, the college is embarking on a four-storey building project. The team is also preparing for accreditation, ensuring quality theological education to fulfill its mission. We will stand together in prayer with the leadership of EBC as they seek to accomplish all of these for the glory of God! As I bid farewell to the students on the last day of class, I want to thank Rev Dr Saw and his team of dedicated faculty and staff for the warm hospitality.

Coming to TCA College turned out to be an immensely inspiring experience. The affirmation I received from faculty members encourages me to continue using the skills honed herein to do good within the Church and in the world.

Studying at TCA College has been an enjoyable and enlightening journey.
