40年、40个国家、4000名学生。

In 1979, Rev Dr Naomi Dowdy envisioned a place where formal theological and ministerial training would be available to those dedicated to serving churches and communities in Asia. That vision birthed the first Pentecostal and Charismatic school to offer Bachelor of Theology and Master of Arts level studies in Singapore.

1979年，拿俄米·道蒂牧师憧憬一个可以提供正式神学与牧养训练的地方，给予那些在亚洲教会和社区中服侍的献身者。从那异象诞生了第一所五旬宗灵恩派的学院，在新加坡提供神学学士与文学硕士的课程。

Over the last 40 years, God has taken that seed of faith, as well as the commitment and dedication of many faithful men and women, to expand TCA College to what it is today. From a handful of theology programs in the early years, TCA now offers 17 accredited and recognized programs across the School of Counseling, School of Theology (English and Chinese), and School of Leadership. God also expanded TCA’s influence by opening doors for students from 40 nations to study with us, creating a vibrant multicultural environment that enriches the learning experience for all. Besides onsite classes, the addition of online classes and fully-online programs have allowed more students to be equipped for ministry. In the last four decades, more than 4,000 students have been empowered to make an impact in their spheres of influence in Asia and beyond.

TCA College

Graduation is just a milestone in your journey of life and ministry. Yes, it is an important one but certainly not your last. In 2019, you would have seen and heard a lot about Celebrating Expansion. This is more than a slogan; it is a battle cry. It is about the realization of TCA College’s purpose since our inception 40 years ago. What began as a dream and vision, filled with purpose and commitment, has reached this point in our existence. The reality is that many thought we could never achieve what we have today. Where would we get qualified international and Asian faculty? How could we afford the books needed for a comprehensive library? Could we meet all the academic requirements necessary for accreditation from the various accreditation bodies? Would we have sufficient space to accommodate all of the College’s needs for lecture theatres, housing, offices, library, study areas and a student lounge?

Our dream, one filled with immense challenges, needed consistent faith to persevere and make it a reality. In addition to faith, there was also the steadfast commitment of the Trinity Christian Centre’s Board and congregation. They believed in the vision and gave generously every year so that we could advance our vision to equip and empower men and women from every nation with the biblical foundations and Holy Spirit illumination needed to release a spiritual tsunami of transformation for the glory of God. Today, you become part of the fulfilment of our dream and vision. Because of the successful milestones of TCA, you have succeeded in crossing one of your own milestones. Now, together, let us join hearts and anointing as we continue to press forward into the next decade and beyond, believing God for many more, till Jesus comes.

School of Counseling 辅导系 Dean’s Message 主任信息

Congratulations to the graduates of the School of Counseling, whose achievements will be recognized during TCA College’s 40th Anniversary celebration! The School of Counseling at TCA College has remained at the forefront of counseling institutions in Singapore with its high standards for theory and praxis. The programs offered are distinctively different because of its integration with faith and focus on skills. TCA College is one of only two Christian schools whose faith-integrated programs have met the quality standards of the Singapore Association for Counseling. Additionally, our counseling programs are the only ones in Singapore to be recognized by the International Registry for Counselor Education Programs. In essence our faculty and programs have met the highest standards of excellence in counselor education, while maintaining a distinctively Christian philosophy and practice. The School of Counseling continues to observe a growing interest by Christians from all walks of life to serve church and community through the counseling profession. Have you considered this path for your life? Are you a good listener? Do you find people around you instinctively seek you out to talk about their problems? Do you desire to get better skilled as a counselor? If you are intrigued by the possibility of counseling others and interested in how advanced studies might prepare you for this, you are warmly invited to reach out to TCA College for further information about our counseling programs. Our next Master of Arts in Counseling cohort begins in January 2020.

School of Theology (English) 神学系 (英文部) Dean’s Message 主任信息

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, NIV)

Praise the Lord for 40 years of God’s faithfulness! The past four decades have seen tremendous growth for the School of Theology (English) (SOTE) and we are amazed at God’s manifold blessings on this journey. As I reflect on the theme of Celebrating Expansion, I believe we can thank God for three things. First, we celebrate the launch of the fully online Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies program, which was previously only available onsite. In the past year, we expanded our delivery so that the program can be completed fully online, and in a hybrid format combining online and onsite courses. This has allowed us to bring the classroom to the student and give them the flexibility to study at their own time and own space. Students from this program can also progress to any of our three Master’s degree programs, opening up new paths for theological studies. Second, we celebrate the many nations that God has enabled us to bless. Just in the past year, we have seen new students joining SOTE from Malaysia, Indonesia,

Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, India, China, Nepal, South Korea, Ghana, Cameroon, and Spain. The sight of these students playing together or fellowshipping over a meal on campus enables us to catch a glimpse of the scene in Revelation 7:9. The many nations studying in SOTE reminds us of the missional task of church and hence the missional orientation of theological education. Finally, we celebrate with more than 50 students graduating from SOTE in 2019. These students have sown much time and effort in equipping themselves. This graduation marks the end of their journey and the expansion of a new phase in their Christian ministry. 新亚学院40岁了！ 40年里有很多的感恩，40年的到来值得一场欢庆，40 年后的未来需要神继续地带领。每当与校友交流，听他们滔滔不绝地分享在新亚的经历，使人好想让时光倒流，回到当时，同他们一起再次感受校园生活的酸甜苦辣。每当听到毕业生的名字被念到时，好想让时间驻足，让我沉浸在那时刻，感受当下在神手中宝贵器皿的装备与差遣。展望未来，每个时代，学院都会面对神学牧养的新挑战，承前启后，开创未来的神学教育之路，不会是一帆风顺的。因此，会让人感叹“想当年”，也让人想要保住现状，然而，我们不能回到过去，我们也不应该满足于现状，我们必须要勇敢地面对新时代的挑战。

不管社会如何变迁，科技如何发展，在未来的新亚学院，依然会有试炼中的酸甜苦辣，而我们还是得一如既往的装备学生，因此我们更需要紧紧地依靠神，祈求祂的带领与智慧，在教育的领域更新与突破，以便更好的装备未来的牧者与领袖。但改变不能因人的意志而改变，也不是从创新科技开始，而是需要求神改变我们的观念，我们必须以神学原理、神国的价值观为基础。因着先辈的远见，在神里的信心，开创了新亚学院；更因着老师们辛勤的付出，学生们努力的学习，认真的态度，才有今天的见证，学生们成为众人的好榜样，在神的国度里成为有影响力的仆人。40年后的今天，我们还要继续努力，更多的祷告，谦卑的来到神面前向神祈求，愿神使用每位老师，每位校友和学生，让新亚学院继续扩展神国的教育，培养出更多合神心意的栋梁之才，蒙神差遣，唯独让神得着所有的荣耀！张健德牧师

Congratulations to all the graduates of 2019! You have arrived at the end of a journey that began upon your admission to TCA College. We believe many of you have invested considerable resources—even made sacrifices—to achieve your goal of graduation. Together with the faculty from the School of Leadership, I applaud all graduates for your diligence and perseverance. In seeking to serve Christian leaders and organizations, the School of Leadership launched our fully online Master of Arts in Christian Leadership (MACL) program in 2018. This degree is jointly offered by TCA College and Life Pacific College in the US. In July 2019, our partner institution will experience an expansion in status as it becomes a regionally accredited, degreegranting university. From July, Life Pacific College will be known as Life Pacific University. We praise God and rejoice with them over this achievement. The MACL program integrates online pedagogy and

technology to make leadership equipping available for leaders throughout the world. One current student revealed how important it was for her to be able to remain in the missions field and engage in ministry while pursuing her studies. The online program met this need and provided her with the resources of two institutions to grow in her leadership expertise. The MACL program also seeks to be practical and relevant so that students can reap its benefits almost immediately. This was affirmed by another student who shared how excited he was to use the research drawn from the program to create a vision and strategy for his ministry. Through the MACL program, the School of Leadership will continue to serve and equip Christian leaders where they are. Heartiest congratulations to all graduates on achieving a significant milestone in your life’s journey! Your commitment and dedication towards your education is commendable – enjoy your well-deserved success! This year, as we celebrate TCA College’s 40th Anniversary, we are in awe of the expansion work that God has done in our midst. The expansion of TCA is also your expansion. I believe that the years spent in TCA have expanded your knowledge of God, perspective of His Kingdom and understanding of who you are in Christ. As you graduate from TCA College, you join with many others who have gone before you. In the last 40 years, faithful men and women like you have heard and responded to the call of God upon their lives and have come to TCA to be equipped. Today, we rejoice knowing that our alumni are making an impact in the Kingdom of God in 40 different nations. God is doing a marvelous work through their lives in the church, community and marketplace. It was an honor and privilege for me to serve as president of the student council for the year 2018. In 2018 the council brought greater bonding and unity between students and teachers and across the Chinese and English departments, through events like the Chinese New Year celebration, Cultural Night and Cohesion Day. As council members, we also made personal efforts to get to know individual students, in particular the new students as well as international ones, to encourage them and stand by them in their times of need. Through serving on the council I was given the opportunity to work with people from different cultures and countries. Our team was made up of eight people from six different countries! Through serving as a team and organizing activities, we forged precious friendships that will continue for a long time to come. A powerful lesson that expanded my perspective about ministry was teamwork. Coming from a working environment where there’s little emphasis on collaboration, I learned how to harness the power of teamwork. I’ve come to realize that God made us differently, with various gifts so we can complement one another. We should allow others to shine in their areas of strength, and support them in their areas of weakness. I’ve learned that one individual cannot do everything. In other words, we need each other, for when we work as a team, we are stronger! In my year of serving as president, God has shown me my own strengths and weaknesses, taught me humility, and molded me to become a better person and leader. Cultural Night 文化之夜

What happens when your flight gets delayed and you are stuck at the airport? Well, judging from 2018’s Cultural Night drama show, plenty! A Cultural Night staple is the team drama show, during which faculty, staff, and students come together to dance, sing, and act. The theme was “A Night Around the World”, and the show was appropriately cast against the multicultural setting of an airport and the dreaded scenario of flight delay. These interesting circumstances set the stage for an epic performance that left everyone in stitches.

The stage performances were just part of the cultural celebrations that night. An immense sense of excitement filled the air from the very beginning, as attendees came decked out in ethnic costumes. Rev Dr Babu Immanuel and Chai Xin were crowned “Best Dressed” following their performances in the fashion show. Dinner was an eclectic mix of dishes from different cultures, with offerings like Bruneian ambuyat, Taiwanese deep-fried sweet potato balls, Indonesian lapis, Chinese dumplings and Indian rojak. To round out the night, praise and worship was conducted in different languages. 13 countries were represented at Cultural Night 2018, and each became the focus of group prayer as well. Designing a Cultural Night that is distinct from previous years is no mean feat. Stefany, an SOTE student from Jakarta and one of the student council members responsible for the event said, “It was challenging to come up with a theme and make everyone feel welcomed.” Judging from student

responses, however, the council seems to have succeeded. Zhao Xinjie, an SOTC student from the People’s Republic of China enjoyed himself, saying, “Using the airport as the backdrop made it cohesive and fun.” Everybody remained in high spirits even when the event came to an end, with people still taking photos to commemorate the night. These fond memories will no doubt remain in the hearts of every participant. Jasmine Foo

Cohesion Day 联谊日

Planning Cohesion Day was both a privilege and a challenge. Personally, the challenge was combining the experiences, ideas and perspectives in the room to work together towards a collective goal. Once that common goal was established, the planning team was able to work efficiently to ensure that Cohesion Day would be a resounding success. Every member of the Student Council was assigned specific roles and responsibilities to facilitate the event, while the student body, faculty and staff were assigned to respective groups for team challenges. The theme this year was “Battle by the Bay” and everyone was all ready to battle it out! At the start of the event the groups were chanting their team names and performing their group cheer with great enthusiasm, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the station games. Students, faculty, and staff “fought” over keropok crackers, raced with ping pong balls in a telematch competition, and played chapteh. Throughout the event, there was a strong spirit of unity, fellowship, and fun. This was a tremendous bonding event for TCA College. It is always great to study together, but the bond that is formed when people work together towards a common goal cannot be had any other way. Truly, the atmosphere of bonding was a great blessing for all TCA faculty, staff, and students. As I reflect on being part of the planning team for this event, I’ve learned a lot about teamwork and

organization. I’ve also been reminded that things do not always turn out exactly as we have planned, which means that we have to be flexible in the moment to ensure that things run smoothly. One thing I especially value about my team was our ability to stay focused, be flexible, and rally to ensure that the event was a success – which it was! Jonathan Daniel Roberts

联谊日，对于新亚学院的全体师生是一个重大而又喜庆的日子，2018年9月28日活动在实里达蓄水池拉开了盛大帷幕，蓄水池上空也洋溢着满满的欢声笑语。学生理事会的精英们经过紧锣密鼓的商讨和抉择后，确定地点、精心策划、步步把关，为的就是给全体师生呈现一个不同凡响的联谊日。当天，师生们被分成六个小组。首先，为了让大家发挥团队协作精神，理事会呼吁各小组制作了盾牌，这些盾牌与此次活动的主题“背水一战”也交相呼应。在景色怡人的实里达，当每组呈现出用心制作的盾牌，并喊出标新立异的口号时，师生们的热情顿时被点燃起来。接下来，一系列游戏环节如“吃饼大赛”、“脸部拔河”、 “背水一战”、“奔跑吧气球”等，都是在师生们彼此配合中相继完成的，在笑声与汗水中这一幕幕精彩的瞬间共同编织成了师生共欢乐的画面。最后，大家带着恋恋不舍的心情，为联谊日画上了圆满的句号。我认为此次活动进一步拉近了师生的距离，让我们更加明白神学课堂中的老师，不仅是良师更是可爱的益友。徐现锋

Continue the Legacy 延续传承

Sharing with Rev Lily Lim (Faculty member), our founder Rev Dr Naomi Dowdy reflects on the growth of TCA over the past 40 years. practice. More than academicians, they have also come to the College with years of ministry experience. Their dedication to educating students has borne much fruit. Many alumni are now faithful ministers, counselors, and marketplace leaders in Singapore and beyond. Some have even gone on to become denomination heads, senior pastors, bible school presidents, and church planters. Indeed, people from all walks of life have been equipped to accomplish God’s work in their spheres of influence.

The expansion work that God has done in and through TCA College has exceeded Founder and Chancellor Rev Dr Naomi Dowdy’s expectations. Pastor Dowdy is proud of TCA College’s ongoing growth, foresight, and spirit of forging ahead. The leadership, faculty, and staff do not rest on the accomplishments of yesteryear but keep their eyes focused on the future. Pastor Dowdy counts among her greatest joys the support from the boards of both Trinity Christian Centre and TCA College. She applauds the early board members who, though not fully understanding the ins and outs of education, gave the resources needed to support her vision providing higher levels of Pentecostal-Charismatic theological education for the Asian context – something that was lacking at that point in time. She credits the leadership team of TCA for bringing the college forward, building partnerships and making the college a multidisciplinary one. To remain on the cutting edge of education, online programs were introduced to provide the flexibility of training in Singapore and also in the nations beyond. She quipped: “How could we have even envisioned online studies because internet did not exist 40 years ago!” Pastor Dowdy is also pleased that TCA’s faculty includes men and women who know how to put theology to

40 years. 40 nations. 4,000 students. That is the legacy Pastor Dowdy leaves for us to continue. At the close of our time together, Pastor Dowdy summarized her thoughts on how far TCA has come and how much more TCA is destined to accomplish.

“I thank God for His faithfulness. I thank God for every person who has embraced the vision and contributed in large or small ways. The different lecturers that have been with us, some of them are not with us now, they have all made contributions. Every staff member, everyone’s little bit makes up the total whole. With God’s blessings, anointing, and grace, TCA has been able to reach great heights. That growth and breakthrough must go on. We must continue to expand until Jesus comes because the task is great!” Yes, Pastor, we will continue to expand until Jesus comes.

School of Counseling The School of Counseling is dedicated to training Christians who have a passion to serve as highly skilled, competent and professional counselors. Besides acquiring theories and clinical skills, students can expect to engage in a process of self-discovery and learn how they can relate to God and others. A hallmark of the programs is its strong emphasis on spirituality and the integration of psychology and theology in counseling. Grounded in a 40-year legacy of equipping ministers for the harvest fields, TCA College embarked on a journey of innovation to expand its reach since 2016. We began by exploring the use of online learning management systems and have since expanded and evolved to an entire eco-system. In this system, one can apply for admission, register for courses, access a student portal of resources, use a learning management system, research using an online library, and receive grades – all in a virtual environment. Many of you graduating students have journeyed with us through the many changes. We are thankful for your patience, understanding, and participation. May the Lord continue to expand and lead you to new ways of doing ministry wherever He has placed you. In this world of constant change, TCA has chosen not to maintain the status quo. We want to be sensitive to the changing landscape and equip more students to serve wherever they are located. The increasingly busy and widely-traveled Singaporean is able to deepen their biblical understanding online and not be robbed of the opportunity to learn and grow spiritually.

I cannot leave my ministry.” It is for needs such as these that makes it imperative for TCA to help students overcome barriers of geographical boundaries, immigration obstacles, relocation costs, separation from family, detachment from ministry, and time-related issues. Hence the launch of two online programs in 2018: the Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies (SOTE) and the Master of Arts in Christian Leadership (SOL). Students in hybrid programs are allowed to take some courses onsite and some, online. When God’s servants can be equipped while remaining in their ministry, their specific ministry context can be a site of learning, as well as bring to life the application of biblical, theological, ministerial, and skills learned in the program. Formation takes place right where the student is situated. Congratulations on your graduation! But remember, your learning journey has not ended. May your quest for learning, development, and growth continue to expand to other arenas. TCA welcomes you back for a different program of study, be it onsite or online!

Library 图书馆

The TCA College Library has played a critical role in the college community by providing both academic and relevant information to students and faculty since 1982, when it started with 600 book volumes housed in a shared room at 21 Adam Road. Four decades later, the collection has expanded to moe than 50,000 resources in print and multimedia formats. Online resources – e-books and research databases – are a relatively recent and important addition to the TCA Library information storehouse. Additionally, the Library now has its own well-designed location, equipped with a wireless network and computer workstations. The spacious reading area and cozy corner provide sufficient room to learn and relax. As the College expands its student population and academic programs, the Library grows its resources and reach. Over the years, resources have grown in both size and content. When the College launched the Chinese department in 1997, the library made sure that it had enough resources in the Chinese language. Users can access these online resources whether they are onsite or in a remote location.

VIETNAM 越南 April 16 to 22, 2018 In April 2018, my course mate, Tammy Ang and I had a God-given opportunity to join Dr Edwin Perona on a teaching trip to a Bible college in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. We were there for one week to teach on the subject of Christian Ethics to a class of 18 bible school students in their twenties. The week-long teaching experience was a great blessing to us as we witnessed how enthusiastic the students were to learn the subject well. Many of them were seen referring to their Bible and taking notes throughout the lessons. Although they were initially shy, they soon began to participate actively in the group activities we planned for them. They also asked many insightful questions which generated lively discussions in the sessions, with the help of our wonderful interpreter who translated the Englishlanguage classes into Vietnamese for them. This trip was also a lesson in cultural exchange for us. We experienced the Vietnamese culture which is rather different from what we are familiar with. For example, the students were extremely polite and would stand 52

up to greet us before each class. They would also take a nap after lunch before resuming lessons in the afternoon. While we were not used to this practice at first, we soon got used to it! Besides being keen learners, the students were also extremely friendly and hospital. Throughout our stay, the students, together with the staff, took great care of us. All our transportation needs and meals were carefully planned by them. An alumnus of the college even took us out to visit the city when we had some free time. We enjoyed a trip out with them to enjoy local Vietnamese cuisine and visited a traditional costume shop. I thank God for this teaching stint, which has reminded me to be serve humbly and love people unconditionally. It also boosted my confidence and desire to go on future mission trips. My studies at TCA College in 2001 and 2002 was a boundary event in my life that prepared me for great expansion in my ministry. The academic training was anchored in experiencing the presence of God, and being in loving and authentic Christian relations with both the school staff/teachers and with fellow students. It was also a time of spiritual growth and renewal.

In particular, the equipping in cell group ministry enabled me to adopt a similar cell-based approach to evangelism and discipleship in my church. Additionally, my studies at TCA has empowered me to galvanize the School of Ministries that I founded in Sierra Leone in the late 1990s. This school has provided Spirit-filled and productive leaders for almost all our churches. My equipping at TCA has undoubtedly played a part in another personal development since graduation: election as the Assistant General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Sierra Leone. I have now served in this role for 8 years. I will ever remain thankful for the entire leadership and staff of TCA College. Praise be to the Lord for all that He has done!

The comprehensive education I received at TCA College took my pastoral ministry to the next level. Being a full time pastor meant traditional schooling could not fit my busy schedule; hence, access to ministry enrichment and theological education was made possible through the flexible program offerings at TCA. Block classes, evening classes, and the ability to study part time helps students like me manage our time and get the education we need.

Studying in TCA College has definitely been a highlight of my life journey thus far. I enjoyed how my lecturers shared from their wealth of experience and made the content and learning come alive for me. The real-world experience that they shared helped to shape and prepare me for the challenges which were ahead of me as a counselor. I learnt about self-directed learning, the core skills necessary to facilitate a counselling session, the basic skills of empathy when engaging with my client and how to provide a non-judgemental and safe counselling environment.

TCA has built the foundation of what I do as a local church pastor. The lecturers didn’t just teach head knowledge – they provided practical know-how as well as spiritual impartation which has impacted me and shaped my ministry philosophy. Their prayers, their boldness for missions and their testimonies shared in class all made a deep impression on me and shaped how I practice ministry today. TCA College is more than a theological school – it is an equipping ground for anyone seeking to be equipped so that they can serve God with excellence. I would like to congratulate the faculty and staff of TCA College, whose faithful work has resulted in 40 years of excellent service to the body of Christ. You have invested well in the lives of thousands of students, and have through them, impacted many nations around the world.

Since graduation, I have been working as a counselor in a school environment. Looking back, I am thankful for the well-rounded education TCA College provided me with. In the program, I was confronted with the constructs in my life journey that made me who I am as a person. This allowed me to embrace issues I had in the past, and helped me to become a more integrated and self-aware counselor. I was struck by the concept of a ‘Wounded Healer’ that was introduced by my lecturers. Counselors are human too, and have experienced pain and setbacks in life. I am a “Wounded Healer” – my past experiences help me attune to clients. I’ve received love and acceptance from God; I also reach out to my student clients with love and acceptance. I am continuously reminded of God’s calling upon my life, and how He is shaping me so that I can grow from strength to strength to support my students and those around me.
